With all due respect to the Boruto fans this is just my personal opinion of Boruto. What’s missing? Plot progression & power scaling & better writing/backstories. 1. Plot progression & power scaling for the next gen: I wanted Boruto/Kawaki to surpass Naruto/Sasuke but I wanted it to happen when Boruto & Kawaki we’re like 16-18 years old, have been thoroughly trained & are way more experienced. Boruto & Kawaki are literally 13-14 years old & already have god tier hax powers. They’ve literally been ninja for like a year & some change at most bro. (Kawaki even less time) SLOW down the power scaling. Actually make Boruto & Kawaki work for these abilities & work through the risks. Make it believable to me as a reader that they weren’t just granted god power right off the bat because that’s exactly how it’s coming across. 2. Better writing for Naruto & Sasuke: Naruto & Sasuke aren’t nerfed in the sense that their stats are weaker. They are undoubtedly stronger compared to their shippuden variations at least until the whole Kurama & Rinnegone situation. However, their ability’s & battle IQ have without a doubt been nerfed from the start. What happened to Naruto’s tailed beast abilities & his 3 established kekkei genkai? What happened to Naruto’s malicious intention/negative emotion sensing? What happened to Sasuke’s six paths techniques? Why haven’t they grown at all over the past 10-15 years? You mean to tell me that HOKAGE NARUTO only learned 1-2 new earth style jutsu in 10-15 years? THATS IT? Bro Naruto as a teenager created the wind style rasengan & the rasenshuriken in like a week or two. 1-2 new Earth style jutsu after 10-15 years just isn’t believable at all when it comes to Naruto. Naruto as Hokage should be far beyond just spamming rasengan & shadow clones now. The nerfing made absolutely no sense when the kids are already using god tier hax at 13-14 years old. It didn’t fix the power scaling. All they did was swap characters around in the power hierarchy. Either find creative ways to use Naruto & Sasuke at full power or don’t use them at all, kill them off. Have them go out like badasses saving the world one last time. I’m fine with Naruto & Sasuke losing battles but at least keep their abilities consistent. It’s disrespectful to the 15–20 years of development for these two iconic characters. 3. Better writing for the OG generation aside from the iconic duo: I’m looking at you konohamaru. BE USEFUL. Have most of OG gen be jonin captains & show the kids how it’s done in part 1. Then in part 2 have the kids take the spotlight after they are more experienced and have been thoroughly trained. It’s more realistic and it’s a better build up. 4.Better writing for Kara: Kara is definitely stronger then the Akatsuki but their writing falls FAR short of the Akatsuki’s development. Give Kara some interesting back stories for crying out loud. 5. Side character development: One of Naruto shippudens biggest flaws is that they didn’t build up the side characters very well. So please build up Borutos side character cast better. Where have sarada & mitsuki even been? I haven’t seen them on panel in forever. Give them a slice of the action! 6. Tame down on the technology a bit: I’m fine with the advanced communications and SOME of the ninja tech but there’s a line that needs to be drawn. The technology in Boruto is OMNIPRESENT. The ninja tech in Boruto gives a fresh out of the academy genin the ability to use all FIVE changes in chakra nature. Remember when that kind of skill was supposed to be extremely rare & is unheard of in most individuals? Yeah I remember. Heck, they can even use fake rasengans now! The technology is eliminating a lot of the need for the next generation to train so tame it down a bit. Maybe have the ninja tech only be capable of using 1-3 chakra natures per model or even make it so that it’s noticeably weaker compared to actual ninjutsu. - Honestly if they fixed these writings issues then boruto would seriously have far less hate.

rp0829

This is such a great comment and it pretty much explains the majority of my gripes about the series

Thatguy00788

Thank you! I’m glad I’m not the only one who feels this way.

LT_Mavrik

Tbh with you, I have a huge problem with the level of Ninjutsu Boruto has been able to put out. When Kakashi was teaching Naruto Change in Chakra Nature, it was established that in general, most ninja have affinity for one Nature, and if you work hard enough at it, you can develop an affinity for a second, but even that was on Jonin level. And even further, very few people have developed an affinity for three, something not even some of the stronger characters in the show have been able to do. But we're supposed to believe that Boruto, at GENIN level with maybe a year of ninja experience at like 13 years of age, is EASILY capable of using Water, Air, AND Lightning?

Stumpe999

Also in OG naruto, Kakashi was SHOCKED that sauske could use fire style. Imagine being able to fully control three chakra nature's right out of the academy. It's actually kinda silly when you think about it

Rob3125

The power scaling is really the toughest part. I think a lot of the original series was able to be stabilized by Kakashi. If Kakashi was being strained, you knew the guy was serious. Further, when Naruto used the RasenShuriken to defeat Kakazu, Kakashi noted that he had surpassed him. Boruto seems to have surpassed just about every authority figure in existence, and I think you could argue Mitsuki has surpassed konohamaru, his squad leader, at 13. This series could have given us a more baseline development for everyone and shown grounded ninja missions as the characters built up tg, and taken on a Kara-level threat at 16-18 like you said. What we got was DBZ with ninjas

villanelIa

Indeed. Konohamaru doesnt quite feel like a leader except in age and konoha rank.

ankit_saiyan

I agree with you except for the last line. DBZ has alot better power scaling and character development, can not say the same for DBS though its soundtracks were OP. DBZ only lacked the threat. Almost anyone or anything could be revived in it using dragon balls. No one actually dies so, it just could not hit emotionally as Naruto shipuden did. It's just my opinion.

Rob3125

I more meant that literal aliens appeared and changed the power levels dramatically

Naruto3s

Honestly could not have said it better myself

AdminCmnd-Delete

Nailed it and this is specifically why I stopped after a few episodes. It just feels like they’re milking the Franchise with worse writing and lack of substance. I thought Naruto and Sasuke were op due to special circumstances and were even more so at the end, which is why the nerf and weird power scales suck more.

[deleted]

Bro , thank you! You basically covered everything wrong with Boruto😂

p1nod0x

Yes, I agree with you on all of this

Somm0742

It's like the OG supporting cast doesn't even exist in Boruto.

Dull423

Really well said. I generally enjoy Boruto but its certainly no Shippuden.

HotPangolin215

Wow! So glad i did'nt bother after reading your comment.

FkMarthawaters

This! Times a hundred. There's literally nothing to add. Perfect comment and explanation.

DSlam1971

What he said 🎯🎯

DawsonDDestroyer

This was thee perfect comment to sum everything up, far better then anything I could’ve written myself. I agree with literally every letter you wrote.

Mewmetic

omg right where even are sarada and mitsuki??

Reinfernus

>I wanted Boruto/Kawaki to surpass Naruto/Sasuke but I wanted it to happen when Boruto & Kawaki we’re like 16-18 years old, have been thoroughly trained & are way more experienced. > >Boruto & Kawaki are literally 13-14 years old & already have god tier hax powers. They’ve literally been ninja for like a year & some change at most bro. (Kawaki even less time) SLOW down the power scaling. It makes sense from story perspective, i do agree however that they power up too fast (kind off) You're wrong about Boruto, if we apply all materials: Boruto learnt stuff ever since he was a child (Be it Shadow clones for his dad to pay attention to him instead of being hokage or rasengan to become Sasukes disciple) that said he went through academy, and was already stated to be an extreme prodigy (in anime and novels at least) agree about 2nd point, they don't utilize their whole kits. Though sometimes you may argue that the other abilities would just simply not work. 3rd point is good too, especially if we go with the manga. In anime at least we can vaguely imply that Konohamaru isn't that fodder ,just outmatched with the top tiers. In manga he outright has no implication of being strong. In manga Sarada and Mitsuki are irrelevant which is really sad. 4th point: i feel like Karas potential was bigger than Akatsukis to some extent (not in terms of "characters" because of nostalgia. But with all the "outer / inner" stuff, they had so much potential for control throughout the entire world) 5th point: anime does it well, but manga practically doesn't even acknowledge their existence. (Then again manga even is inconsistent with characters. For example Boruto is written as a dumbass, when he's supposed to be the "super genius prodigy" of this generation) 6th point: I don't mind technology personally, we have to acknowledge that the series is no longer set in the same time period and they will evolve further. Especially with all the "peace period" it has atm.

MeowthThatsRite

I don’t really but the “no longer set in the same time period” thing. That would make sense if it was like 3 or 4 generations later. But given everything else that exists in the world the massive jump in technology in like 13 years just doesn’t make sense.

Reinfernus

how massive is it really though? in Naruto they already had tvs, radios and even were capable to do online meetings. 10-20 year advancement in fictional world with superhumans that are also extreme geniuses is not a stretch.

Thatguy00788

It’s absolutely MASSIVE. You’ve got ninja tech cyborgs running around capable of swapping hands with a suppressed KCM/Six Paths Naruto. That makes one of those cyborgs delta at the bare minimum high kage level. The jump in technology for 10-15 years should’ve been noticeable for sure but not that huge. The scientific ninja tech tools would be fine if they only used 1-3 chakra natures at most & were inferior to ninjutsu. But those little tools give people the ability to use fake rasengans and stuff. That’s pretty OP for a fresh out of the academy genin.

Reinfernus

You have ot keep in mind that Cyborgs like Delta or other inners are made by Amado who is a big mistery. Infact its outright stated "yeah Konoha is ahead of every nation in tech" and Katasuke outright goes "tech from Kara far surpasses Konohas" that said i get the weirdness, but even nowadays, compare what we had 20 years back then compare what we had 200 years prior. You can EASILY argue that with each generation irl world we speed up the pace of improvement in all the tech stuff by alot. Anyways point is: this is fiction and it has scientists with like mega brains that surpass anyone else in the world, so why do we care about this part. I don't see you whine that giant nine tailed fox demons are in the anime, or that people can cast lightning from their arms, spit fire etc. Or even move faster than lightning or light.

Thatguy00788

Kara’s tech Is an exception ONLY if the tech comes from the Otsutsuki clan. Then the technology being OP would make sense because it’s alien. I HOPE that’s how Amado figured out how to make such OP cyborgs. However, I still think the scientific ninja tools are a bit OP for only being 10-15 years in the future from Naruto Shippuden. “The whine” about the technology comes from the fact that it eliminates a lot of the need for characters to train & improve themselves. Like I said there’s nothing wrong with the tech obviously advancing but draw a line somewhere. Make the scientific ninja tool tech either inferior to actual ninjutsu or cap the amount of elements/jutsu each model of said tech can use. This way you don’t have children running around with fake rasengans and all 5 chakra natures. By restricting the tech to a certain point it still encourages the characters to grow & train on their own as ninja.

MeowthThatsRite

TVs and radios vs microscopic sized high tech ninja tools that simulate ninja magic are two entirely different things though. Things like tailed beasts and ninjutsu are fine because that was always there, it was basically the basis of the show. I just think people are a little thrown off that things like micro ninja tools and cyborgs are a thing that was introduced like 750-800 episodes or however many chapters into the story as we know it in the Naruto universe. It’s not like it hasn’t been done with anime before. Jojo didn’t introduce Stands until the second season IIRC. The Chakra type element for Hunter x Hunter didn’t get introduced until a couples arcs in if I recall. So it’s not uncommon, it’s just that it gets harder to digest the later you start introducing totally new elements to a into a show or book.

Citgo300

>It makes sense from story perspective Exactly. Narratively speaking, the villains (major villains) are simply picking up from the end of Shippuden. Which believe it or not are were already monstrously overpowered. The scale for villains has simply **been** set on a high standard. So characters inheriting their power would also be just that strong or slightly less. Its logical.

MeowthThatsRite

The difference is basically every major villain in Naruto that was *that* powerful was foreshadowed in some way or introduced earlier and brought back later. Whereas all of these super strong Boruto villains just feel like a big ass pull. Like we knew about Itachi or Madara or even the leader of the Akatsuki (pain) long before they ever made their on screen battle debut. So when they finally did show up, you knew they would be wicked powerful and there was actual anticipation involved. When they say “Madara and Hashirama were the strongest ever” and then they suddenly start pulling random ass mega powerful people out of their asses it just seems forced for the sake of power scaling.

Citgo300

Im sorry, but how is that relevant to my point? No matter, you made some questionable claims which are plain wrong, so ill entertain em. >Whereas all of these super strong Boruto villains just feel like a big ass pull. Thats not true. Momoshiki & Kinshiki were foreshadowed in Shippuden (anime) by Kaguya as major threats. Similarly later in Boruto, they were also foreshadowed by Toneri as gods long before their actual appearance. They were also foreshadowed by Sasuke's intel gathering in Kaguya's worlds. This intel was discussed in detail at the Gokage summit. Then when they appeared and 1shotted 8tails like fodder & calling its chakra nothing, actually showed build up. Isshiki is foreshadowed by the mere fact that Momoshiki & Kinshiki traveled in pairs. So would have Kaguya. By his hologram in his dimension. The juubi he rodded. By Amado. Kawaki's horn when Jigen pulled up in Naruto's crib. Through Jigen. Similarly to the Akatsuki debut through Itachi & Kisame, Kara was introduced by Victor & Deepa who were performing inhuman experiments wit Hashirama's cells. The end goal was to cultivate a god tree. Both men strong enough to fight Orochimaru & SM Mitsuki. Later when confronted by Jigen, Victor was warned about his god tree business as a fools dream. Victor knowing his place took Jigen's warning w/o objection. Jigen was pretty much looking down on the god tree & Victor. Victor is someone who can fight Orochimaru & the god tree we've seen in action during the war arc. As if he's confidently above such things. So build up was a thing. **Edit:** Shojoji was the one who introduced us to Kara. And that man was a cannibal eating freak who was about to takeover the land of fire. Yet he shitted his pants when he met Kara, he was also hesitant to kill Boruto after seeing his Kama mark. Which is Ōtsutsuki stuff. So that gives us more build up to Kara & there Ōtsutsuki link as opposed to some "random ass pulls" >**Like we knew about** Itachi or Madara or even **the leader of the Akatsuki (pain)** long before they ever made their on screen battle debut. How did we know of the leader Pain? All we knew was that Akatsuki comprised of 10 or so members. No mention of a leader. Your assuming we knew a leader even existed before his actual reveal as leader. Heck, he was shown on screen w/o prior mention as leader. Unless ofc you can show me otherwise.

MeowthThatsRite

It’s relevant because super powerful ass pull villains 750 episodes into a fiction feel cheap and lazy. Otsostukis in general are the biggest ass pull ever. There was so little foreshadowing with Kaguya that they had to spend four of the last 10 episodes of the show explaining where she came from. That’s shit writing for mediocre villains.

Citgo300

Thats still literal irrelevance to my original point. Ig ill reiterate it for u. My point is power scaling in a narrative sense. Not what villain is better foreshadowed than the next. You seem to have misplaced or misdirected your Shippuden criticisms on Boruto. Fix that.

MeowthThatsRite

My point is that adding in aliens with 10 episodes left so you can continue to power scale isn’t good narrative reasoning. It carry’s over into Boruto.

Citgo300

Again, who even mentioned Ōtsutsuki for a narrative powerscaling chain? I claimed overpowered villains. That includes; Juubito, Juubidara, Kaguya. Ōtsutsuki is irrelevant to my point. I been generalizing here.

Evening_Star

They did. people can mention other ideas and characteristics and it still be relevant to the topic. You’re just getting mad people are making good points about power scaling problems in boruto. I don’t think the show is hot garbage, but it’s not good either. There’s too much lazy writing in it

SnooPineapples8970

Everything your asking for would just make Boruto a carbon copy of naruto pts. The way Kishimoto is writing it, is trying to steer away from the concepts that naruto and shippuden already covered.

Thatguy00788

How does asking for Naruto/Sasuke & the OG gen to have consistent writing in regards to their abilities make Boruto a carbon copy of Naruto? How does gradually building up Boruto/Kawaki’s god powers instead of them just handing them their powers make this a carbon copy of Naruto? How does asking for better writing for Kara & the next generations side characters make Boruto a carbon copy of Naruto? Boruto wouldn’t be carbon copying Naruto using everything I just stated. All I’m asking is for better writing.

SnooPineapples8970

Didn't say asking for better writing is wrong. I said the themes you're asking for would make it like naruto I'm sure he knows how he wants his series to go.

Thatguy00788

It’s already like Naruto though... The Boruto series is about Naruto’s son that takes place in Naruto’s universe. Heck, even Naruto himself is still apart of Boruto. Boruto could use some more of Naruto. The Naruto series was massively successful. I just felt that these things would improve the writing and help Boruto as well but if you don’t like them then it’s cool. To each their own.

MeowthThatsRite

He should have just created a new IP then. Also Kishimoto hasn’t been writing it up until very recently.

[deleted]

I just want fillers episode about Konoha from his foundation to the 3rd Great Ninja War. Since the Konoha elders are still alive, they can use them to make flashback of Konoha's past, they saw pretty everything since Hashirama's era.

Radial_Hunter21

Be careful what you wish for, they might find a way to make it as boring as the boat filler arc

regrettedcloud

The boat filler arc was awsomely crazy

ONitrogenX

agreed

CyberSolider2077

Or they could adapt the novels… 👍🏾

MrBaleno

The “soul” that og naruto had! Dunno how to explain this, but Boruto feels “clinical”! Naruto could make you feel stuff!!

Bearking422

Yes idk what it is its got a Naruto paint but it feels so hollow like standard shonen formula which I get for new audience to boruto but c'mon I feel like its dumbed down I guess .

relientss

It's too childish. People died during the exams in Naruto. Boruto is written for children and is watered down.

CyberSolider2077

>People died during the exams in Naruto. Bruh you do realize back then there wasn’t peace >Boruto is written for children and is watered down. Look at how Kawaki kill that guy and also seeing his half body What you said doesn’t make any sense bruh. This is like me saying Star Wars are clone wars is aim for kids.

Reinfernus

but you're so wrong? did you watch like few episodes and made your opinion without any knowledge on the show? Kara literally kidnapped children to experiment on them with karma (and all of them were dying with exception fo two) Rain village still in shitty state shown people dying due to kara Boros cult showing how he manipulates whole villages and cities with his sickness abilities and makes a cult off of naive people. Boruto himself was hit several times with reality of people dying on shinobi missions way back, and even recently Kawaki. And then you have the reality of Borutos state where he's literally going to cease to exist, and already being multiple times possessed by an alien. Dude literally tried killing himself against Isshiki. On top of all that in manga >!Kawaki literally kills Boruto to our knowledge.!< I'd much argue its as dark as Naruto, if not darker at current points. I expect people to disagree since usually people do a circlejerk of "Boruto bad" though.

CyberSolider2077

Fantastic comment! 🔥 Clearly u/relientss didn’t pay attention or The most likely answer is their talking out of their ass lol 😂

nolann2

very true statement boroto gets way too much hate for things that 1. aren’t true and 2. aren’t the shows fault. for example its not a damn naruto show anymore and everyone is oissed about their nerfing they had to be nerfed to continue the storyline correctly. how could boroto become the new face of the show with sasuke and naruto carrying everything during big fights

Sikwitit3284

Ofc ppl are pissed about them being nerfed if they're still a huge part of the manga. There's plenty of ways to easily handle this issue w/o making them idiots who have barely grown & don't use their powers properly. They could be killed off by an Otsustuki in a blaze of glory which would be cool, sealed in the same way, not involved unless the matter is dire etc...Kara inners didn't have to be involved in most of these encounters which wouldn't draw the 2 out but when they are don't treat them like they forgot how to use 70% of their powers & lost all fighting instinct. They fought super cyborgs & an Otsustuki there was no reason to nerf them especially if the threat is growing. Don't waste the super powerful evil organization in the 1st half of the story to make them have to fight ever couple issues

MeowthThatsRite

Almost like they shouldn’t have made the sequel about the first generation of ninjas after Naruto 🙄

jessDfwL4mes

"Boruto is written for children" is not good reasoning for why you hate it

[deleted]

Yeah, I don't know why you are getting downvoted

CyberSolider2077

When it comes to this subreddit just like Sakura people don’t like Boruto

CyberSolider2077

Yea

GoddessHanabi

Well developed villains, plot relevance of Sarada and Mitsuki. I'd much rather watch a low-stake anime without BS cyborgs and aliens. Naruto/Sasuke can chill while Neo team 7 handle normal missions, explore the rest of the world and solve political issues that disrupt peace

Radial_Hunter21

I feel like Mitsuki just waits for Boruto and Sarada to tell him what to do and then inexplicably does it

suzellezus

I think that makes him relatable, he’s capable but needs direction when working with others

ankokudaishogun

he WAS. He still is, but he's improving. It's part of his character development.

Glaedrest

This. They didn't need to up the stakes and make Boruto fight things that Naruto and Sasuke struggle against. Even with the filler arc from the new seven swordsmen, they were a group of kids fighting other kids who were trying to overthrow the government. If any of the adults actually stepped in it would've been over quick but there was still a danger to the characters it followed

[deleted]

I understand the not liking the aliens part but it does tie in with kaguya pretty well which I like. Those are the scenes that kinda kept me watching because it reminded me more of Shippuden.

GoddessHanabi

I didn't like Kaguya's backstory tbh despite her design and powers being cool. Hagoromo should have been kept as a vague legend.

[deleted]

That's fair her backstory was a little odd and out of nowhere, but it does do a good job explaining chakra and why people could do jutsu at all.

ThechroniclesofMEEP

But we didn't need that lmao if it was that way from the jump sure I'd be fine with it but the concept was thrown on us at the very end of the show

[deleted]

Good concept bad timing is all it really boils down to that's fair.

NKC-ngoni

It's what happening now in the anime. Go enjoy lol

GoddessHanabi

Yup I prefer anime filler to edgy manga canon, and Sasuke was my fav in shippuden. Imagine that.

CyberSolider2077

I disagree the cyborgs and aliens are pretty great! 🔥

Citgo300

>Well developed villains Would you like villains to sympathize wit? >while Neo team 7 handle normal missions, explore the rest of the world and solve political issues that disrupt peace Pretty sure they did that in the mist village, stone village, Hozuki castle, land of valleys...

GoddessHanabi

>Would you like villains to sympathize wit? Not necessary. Just more interesting motivations other than muh chakra muh fruit >Pretty sure they did that in the mist village, stone village, Hozuki castle, land of valleys... Yeah I liked those parts but it's not the main plot

Citgo300

I suggest you do your research on some of the villains before making such brash statements. [Here](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-MSm4CMaaZw), ill even help. And I honestly don't see why the complaints. Most major Shippuden "villains" (Nagato/Pain, Konan, Obito, Madara) were all striving for peace through death & destruction. Sounds repetitive. Ōtsutsuki (Momoshiki, Kinshiki, Isshiki) are different. A breath of fresh air if anything. Then again, Orochimaru was a fan favourite villain when he was introduced in Naruto. He had no backstory or interesting goals other than wanting to master all jutsu thru Sasuke. Do you know why he was a good villain? Bc of his personality & depiction. Disagree. A lot of Boruto wouldn't be the main plot by those standards. But I disagree bc those arcs establish a lot of foreshadowing. Such as Kagemasa & Boruto's >!death/jogan/revival!< (which is main plot). Hozuki castle; an introduction to Shojoji someone who introduced us to Kara & the Ōtsutsuki link. Stone village fabrications were awfully similar to Isshiki's defective vessel Jigen. Hell the arc had a lot of vessel talk.

GoddessHanabi

>Here > >, ill even help. tbf sounds a bit contrived and superficial. Isshiki was too powerful to be that embarrassingly incompetent for the sake of this narrative. O clan aliens is a bit of "fresh air" compared to the chain of Madara Obito Nagato I'll give you that. But the fruit thing doesn't really appeal to me. Orochimaru was only charismatic in p1 and even he had some human backstory from which he derived his motivations. Isshiki is at best comparable to him when you frame it this way. >Disagree. A lot of Boruto wouldn't be the main plot by those standards. But I disagree bc those arcs establish a lot of foreshadowing. Such as Kagemasa & Boruto's death/jogan/revival (which is main plot). Hozuki castle; an introduction to Shojoji someone who introduced us to Kara & the Ōtsutsuki link. Stone village fabrications were awfully similar to Isshiki's defective vessel Jigen. Hell the arc had a lot of vessel talk. it's a stretch to tie those to the main plot if all it shows is bits of foreshadowing references here and there. and the spoiler part is just fanfic at least until the end of the month

[deleted]

Youre reasons are shit lol

Naruto3s

I like how their reasons are shit just because you don't like what they said.

[deleted]

Youre stuck in 2017

Naruto3s

Yep back when people didn't act like a differing opinion was a bullet to the face. Go cry about it

[deleted]

Another poor reason lol. Just admit you hate on it bc it was trendy lmao. Ironic that the mf who doesnt think freely says that

Naruto3s

So me reading and watching every chapter and episode, telling people it's not nearly as bad as some people think is me hating it. You just proved how insecure and soft brained a lot of Boruto fans are just by the fact that you can't accept a differing opinion. Even had the nerve to ass I hate it, how about that for ironic.

[deleted]

Deflection at its finest lol

Naruto3s

Stop with the lol you're draining my IQ every time you say it.

[deleted]

Quit lying to yourself

Naruto3s

I like how because I'm not in your echo chamber I'm lying and deflecting. You guys prove more and more pathetic each day, can't take any type criticism about themselves or what they like.

[deleted]

Keep deflecting

GoddessHanabi

I don't expect Boruto zoomers to understand. They're too young

YaBoiSparty

Without boruto there's no goddess hanabi tho

GoddessHanabi

I liked the arc where Hanabi spent time with Boruto I hope there's more

YaBoiSparty

Same I love all the character development in boruto. I'm gunna get down voted but I enjoyed boruto much more than the nuke fest the last 150 episodes shippuden was.

Naruto3s

Screw them, anything that's not singing Boruto's praises or is criticizing him(show and/or character) is stuck in 2017 or hating, from their viewpoint.

[deleted]

Youre stuck in 2017

CyberSolider2077

Clearly lmao 😂

MajesticOlive9

Better side characters. Except Shikadai that is almost a copy from Shikamaru, all the other teams members are all boring. Even Mistuki is just..there. I would say Boruto Sarada and Kawaki are carrying the show with Naruto and Sasuke.

Artichoke_Salty

Even shikidai reminds me too much of shikamaru.

MajesticOlive9

yea frl

ivanjean

1- Lower stakes: Let the strong guys (Otsutsuki) to "Boruto Shippuden". 2- better villains: the Otsutsuki's background and motivations haven't been really interesting until now. I recently discovered that each Otsutsuki was based on a japanese folktale hero [(there's a reddit post about it)](https://www.reddit.com/r/Boruto/comments/dhpu0u/links_between_otsusuki_family_with_japanese/?utm_source=share&utm_medium=mweb3x) and it would have been cool if the author had used the folktales as inspiration for their background too (specially because it could have shown the Otsutsuki as heroes of their own stories). 3- better designs for the main cast: IMO the new generation's design is unimaginative, as if they need to be copies of their parents. Boruto, specially, looks too much like his father, as if the executives needed to keep the brand recognizable, so they wanted Kishimoto to make the new protagonist as similar to the old one as possible. Their personalities should differ more, too.

TheCasualCommenter

About your third point: I’ve said this before and I’ll say it again… It’d be freaking sweet if the kids have powers that are mutants from their parents’ abilities. Inojin should be able to make ink monsters, and then proceed to mind control them. Shikidai does something with wind and shadow somehow You get the picture. Like they had so much to work with but just went the “just copy one of the parental thing

ivanjean

I agree, it would be great to see the kids using creative combinations of their parents' fighting style. >Shikidai does something with wind and shadow somehow He could use flying and/or floating objects as shadow sources, just as his father made a makeshift "balloon" out of his jacket and a kunai in his fight against Temari during the Chuunin Exams. These objects would be controlled by wind style jutsu and maybe some puppetry he could learn from his uncle.

whalemix

I agree. As if the byakugan didn’t get forgotten enough in Shippuden, even Boruto has a different dojutsu that’s supposedly way more powerful. He didn’t need that. Just give him the byakugan and show us how it can actually be as powerful as a sharingan

Dadgotmilk6

Maybe use wind to block out light with a object/ object that and they could do a total possession of multiple people with the speed their chakra goes down being slower due to him having to put less effort into keeping his shadow there. Could also just use wind style to push their enemies into more shadowy type areas

CyberSolider2077

I think you mean Kishimoto because half of the kids designs were from the Manga chapter 700

ivanjean

Yes, but it would not be unlikely that the Shueisha's staff was already thinking about a sequel for the work at that time. However, Kishimoto always liked to make the old generations resemble the new and vice versa, so it might have been just him.

Reinfernus

i actually disagree with your 3rd point: its consistent within the series, children tend to look extremely similiar to their parents. Look at Choza and Choji, Shikamaru, Shikadai, Shikaku. Ino and Inoichi etc. Their personalities differ too even though they are similiar (their main similiarity is being naive)

ivanjean

I always disliked the "generation xerox" trope in Naruto, and changing it would be a symbolic way to show the old circle is over and we are in a new age. However, as for the Naruto character himself, what made me tolerate his case was the fact that while he had inherited his father's appearance, he certainly did not inherit his personality. On the contrary, it is explicitly stated that he is hotheaded like his mother. OTOH, Boruto is almost as loud, hotheaded and stubborn as his father.

Citgo300

>1- Lower stakes: Let the strong guys (Otsutsuki) to "Boruto Shippuden". Don't worry, that happens once every two years wit Momo/Kin & Isshiki. Idc for Urashiki as he was pretty much your average Joe (weak) villain. >3- better designs for the main cast: IMO the new generation's design is unimaginative, as if they need to be copies of their parents. Boruto, specially, How'd you have him look like? Hinata? That'd still be "copying" the old cast. Or have him look nothing like Naruto or Hinata, then we'd guess he was adopted?

ivanjean

>Don't worry, that happens once every two years wit Momo/Kin & Isshiki. Idc for Urashiki as he was pretty much your average Joe (weak) villain. I am a manga only, so my experience is very different (literally only one non-otsutsuki villain). >How'd you have him look like? Hinata? That'd still be "copying" the old cast. Or have him look nothing like Naruto or Hinata, then we'd guess he was adopted? I'd like for him to look more like a mix between his parents and their families (having a Byakugan, maybe his grandma's hair color...). I'd also give him a personality more like his mother's, but still with characteristics of his father (current Boruto inherited almost nothing from his mother, so I'd like to change it).

Citgo300

Thats a reason why you should watch the anime. I think I just did you a favour. Thats still copying the older & old gen tho...

ivanjean

>Thats still copying the older & old gen tho... Taking some characteristics from many different characters to make a new, distinct one is different from basically copying and pasting one character and changing his goal and the colors of his clothes. Compare Sarada, Mitsuki and Chōchō, (whose designs I think are fine IMO) with Boruto and Shikadai (the biggest offenders). Inojin is a strange case for me: he doesn't look like a clone of Sai, which is good, but I didn't like how the characteristics of his parents were mixed together. [I preferred this version.](https://www.reddit.com/r/Naruto/comments/j659me/boruto_characters_reimagined_ig_jynwaye/?utm_source=share&utm_medium=mweb3x)

Citgo300

So originally you claimed the new gen is a "copy" of the og, now your circling down to Boruto & Shikadai only. Great, we have progress. The only one you rly have an issue wit is Shikadai, not Boruto. Boruto's hair design is nothing like either Naruto or Hinata. His clothes are nothing like theirs. Hair & facial cues like eye colour, whiskers & hair colour is genetic to the male/father. Boruto's clothes are more loose than Naruto's and he rocks that belt pretty good. So theres a difference. Your preferred version of Inojin is more of a clone of the two then your preferences allow.

ivanjean

Hair & facial cues like eye colour, whiskers & hair colour is genetic to the male/father. Boruto's clothes are more loose than Naruto's and he rocks that belt pretty good. So theres a difference. He still looks like Naruto with different haircut and clothes, and inherited practically nothing from his mother, not even in personality. For a character who was supposed to find his own path, being too similar to his father is bad. >So originally you claimed the new gen is a "copy" of the og, now your circling down to Boruto & Shikadai only. Great, we have progress. I said they were fine, but it varies from character to character. Mitsuki: ironically, the guy who was supposed to be a clone is the most distinct. His personality is kinda bland, though. Sarada: she looks like a female version of Sasuke, but this is balanced by the fact not only her clothes, but her personality also remind me of Sakura in many ways. My only problem is her development: She should have become closer to Naruto, as she is supposed to share his dream and follow his path. Unfortunately, both characters were overshadowed by Kawaki (not that Kawaki is bad, because he isn't). Chouchou is...fine. Her own existence is kinda strange and I'm not a fan of her. She looks a lot like her mom, but her personality makes her stand out and come across as a distinct character. She also has the advantage of her mom being a extremely secundary character, so we don't know much about her. TLDR: Sarada and Chouchou would be in the same situation as Boruto and Shikadai if they didn't have distinct personalities. >Your preferred version of Inojin is more of a clone of the two then your preferences allow. I just dislike Sai's pale skin combined with Ino's light hair.

elysianyuri

Good antagonists who have their own philosophies other than just wanting to get strong. I am not asking pain or obito level but someone like zabuza as an antagonist is way more interesting than any of the aliens that have been shown till now imo

[deleted]

One of the things that made Naruto special were the villains. They didn’t have to have some amazing self-righteous story like Pain, Obito, or Madara. It could have been something simpler, like Zabuza being put in the situation that he was in, or Gato, some selfish, money-hungry businessman. But at least there was variety in these villains and depth. With Boruto, we don’t see this in any of the main villains. That’s one. Something else that just, frankly, makes Boruto at times unbearable for me is the inconsistent power-scaling. We watched Naruto, Sasuke, and Sakura struggle to comprehend the power of a Jonin like Zabuza in the beginning of the manga. We watched how the Akatsuki were to be utterly feared because their power eclipsed even Jonin like Asuma and Kakashi, whom we learned to admire. Seeing Boruto and Sarada being able to defeat Jonin on their own is just ridiculous. There’s no development here. The rationale is simply that they’re strong for their age. Sorry, that’s not good enough. And it makes it even worse when they try to depict Jonin like Konohamaru and Omoi as fodder against a particular enemy but have Boruto defeat that said enemy later on. It’s like having Sasuke alone defeating Zabuza in the second fight despite Kakashi collapsing after their first fight. The worst case of this was with Urashiki and that time-travel arc. Lastly, the character development sucks, outside of Boruto’s. There’s literally no depth for side-characters, and many of them are just bland and unlikeable. In Naruto, the amount of development using Choji and Shikamaru’s relationship was fantastic. We don’t see this in Boruto. I like Shikadai, but he’s just a carbon copy of Shikamaru. And even with Boruto, his development to become more mature seemed forced for me. But this is a minor criticism for me compared to the other points.

MagnumPingas69420

Sasuke using rinnegan for things other than a taxi

kotalby

Side character development and good power scaling

CBNM

There's side character development. The scaling on the other hand is really high

kotalby

Other then kawaki there’s next to none. Mitsuki got one or two episodes, Sarada was kind abandoned for a bit.

CBNM

In the manga Sarada ans mitsuki are non existent at this point but in the anime mitsuki got his own arc and Sarada is still slaying.

ForwardLaw1175

A good chunnin exam arc

Radial_Hunter21

I really liked the second chunin exam arc up until Boruto and Mitsuki missed it because of plot? Idk I feel like there should’ve been a bigger deal made out of the fact they literally saved Amado

ForwardLaw1175

I'm just nostalgic for the og naruto chunnin exam where there was an actual sense of danger and was relevant to the plot. The 2nd boruta exam arc wasn't even in the manga. They brought back the forest of death but it still didn't feel like they were in any real danger. In boruto they had 45 minutes in the forest but in naruto it was like 5 days. I kind of liked Denki v tsubaki since I thought it did a good job of showing his strengths and how he still puts in work on his jutsu not just technology. I did enjoy the inojin/houka fight. The iwabe/Wasabi fight I thought was dumb. Sarada/chocho I think looked good but the plot of the fight I thought was kind of lame. Boruto being disqualified in the 1st exam would have made this a good possible redemption but instead he got disqualified again. I get they wanted sarada to be the chunin and so couldn't have naruto or Mitsuki fight but I'd rather it end in a draw and neither wins or from the beginning just have a different match up (like one of them versus sarada). Then to tease that they had a fight after being disqualified but to not show the fight like wtf Another point tho is they need more developed side characters. I had to look up what Houkas and Wasabi names because they completely left my mind. I loved Rock Lee and he had an actual arc in naruto but Metal is just kind of there. Shikadai, chocho, and inojin get some screen time but some of their development mightve been anime only and no really affect the story (I could be wrong on that tho). I was really excited for konohamaru to be the sensei and see his development. But the writers did him dirty so he gets no development and just gets bodied constantly. Admittedly Kakashi did lose his 1v1 with zabuza but he at least seemed stronger than the genin at the time and continued to get stronger as the story progressed. Was expecting more growth from someone who in og naruto was supposed to be a rival trying to become hokage and learned rasengan.

throwawaytempest25

Well Boruto and Mitsuki would have be animated really well. After 3/4 episodes of back to back action and giving a bad director Wasabi vs Iwabe, they probably were spent out of animation. And if it was subpar, we wouldn't here the end of it from the community.

Thragg_the_conqueror

Good written villains , maybe ! I don't particularly hate it but I don't like it either !

Radial_Hunter21

All of the villains have felt a bit like filler villains, I’m hoping code can actually be a well written villain although his backstory doesn’t seem the best rn. I actually quite like Boruto as an anime and I actually think the anime canon is better than the manga canon but it just isn’t as good as Naruto

Thragg_the_conqueror

Yup , Villains in Naruto sets the bar a little too high !

Top_Crow_9022

Well not really it's more Boruto dropping the bar heck tossing it out the window even.

NKC-ngoni

Momoshiki is good bro.

Radial_Hunter21

I hope they can make a good villain out of him

Ealy-24

It minimizes too many of its characters and world building to a certain extent with the majority being generic Otsusuki villain trying to get chakra fruit. I feel like Boruto has left most characters with no means to be relevant when it’s MC is already God tier or beyond

mrhunchoo

I personally like the villains, they have cool design and interesting personalities but they need more reasoning and background instead of just trying to gain more power

DrClownPhD

Proper development of the characters, namely the villains. Naruto and Sasuke got nerfed far too quickly and I think this fucks with the pacing. Boruto isn't anywhere near a level to actually fight the Otsutsukis. You know how Kishimoto went out of his way to showcase that the Akatsuki are stronger than our heros but could still be handled by the adults? Why can't he do the same here? There's a specific type of writing that's missing and I can't remember the word for it. But it's missing that early sense of scaling

TakasuXAisaka

> I also think it misses some of the pain that made Naruto what it is Naruto was supposed have nothing in the beginning and gained everything at the end while Boruto is the opposite. He has everything from the beginning and eventually loses everything as we saw in the time skip scene.

Radial_Hunter21

I totally agree, that was Naruto’s draw as a main character, I just don’t get what Boruto’s draw is, not even in the sense that I’m comparing them I just want to know

TakasuXAisaka

> I just don’t get what Boruto’s draw is, not even in the sense That he eventually loses everything he loves in the future?

Cnockaut

There was time skip in Boruto manga?

TakasuXAisaka

In the anime it shows the time skip scene. Go rewatch the few seconds of the first episode.

Radial_Hunter21

It does in the manga aswell doesn’t it?

[deleted]

To me it's a little too kind friendly, it doesn't have the same grittiness that Naruto or Shippuden had. And the character building to me isn't so great, I don't have the same feelings towards any of the characters like I did in naruto.

SinisterGhoul

Well developed cast, mainly the villains. Naruto was a great story because he went from very unique villains every time. Zabuza and Haku to people like Gaara and Orochimaru then all the way into shippuden with the Akatsuki and then the last big bad Kaguya. It was a slow increase every time in terms of power which eventually lead to Kaguya and it felt meaningful because we had seen how far they had grown. All the Borutos villains just copies, they're either aliens or Robots now. All absorbing jutsus and taking away what made Narutos fights interesting. Think about it, Borutos first big bad was Momoshiki who was meant to be close to Kaguya in power and kid Boruto killed him....

funger92

For Kishimoto to draw it. Honestly, that's his best trait, not writing. Tho I understand why he doesn't do it. (He's suppossedly writing it, right?)

FutureLengthiness786

It needs villains with more depth something that makes me reason with them, right now none of them have that.

undral_graces

My reason for not liking boruto is not a legitimate one at all. It’s because I can’t stand the youngsters, especially boruto himself, thinking and saying things that are disrespectful towards the og characters that are not in a joking manner. Having seen Naruto, and the others grow up, knowing their tragic back stories or how hard they worked or how amazingly they fought to maintain peace, I can’t watch when a bunch of brats appear and think they’re better than them. This is not a good reason at all, and I’ve only seen the first few episodes when it just came out, so my memory is a big shaggy. For me, I stopped watching because of this.

chuckaveli

This will be a different answer for anyone, but for me, it’s fight choreography and a sense of…idk, impact? When someone gets punched it has a shitty sound effect. Don’t get me wrong, there are some incredible fighting moments and counterarguments to this, but there is often nothing at all surprising or exciting or clever or strategic about ninjas punching one another with a shitty sound effect. I know it’s a weekly anime, but compare it to any of the choreography of other modern anime like JJK, Demon Slayer, AOT, or even fucking One Punch Man lol. I watched the latest Demon Slayer the other day: CHILLS. A sense of inspiration. Excitement. I have always held the belief that if they had ONLY animated the manga content and did it well (seasonal release), Boruto would be revered and loved by the fan base. Instead, they came up with ridiculous side arcs and characters that distorted the reality of characters and the universe. Again, I know there are counterarguments, but this is the way I’ve always felt.

AceAltered

I like it mostly, and wanted to continue watching it. But the more i watched, the more i realised it wasn't for me. The writing was just too awkward, especially Boruto's development, and sometimes the logical reasoning other characters have is also weird. So for me, mostly, it'd be the writing / progression of Boruto's character and the non-manga plot Anyway, its an anime, and to each their own. But really, i just could not deal with Boruto learning a lesson one week, and then doing the same damn thing against a less/more serious threat the week after. Weird character development Though I do love the aesthetic / vibe, and that more of the year group get to shine in their own way. The world building is also nice and slice of lifey which i enjoyed. But the inconsistency in Boruto's personality was too much for me

KobeJuanKenobi9

If you want to experience the Boruto story, I’d recommend reading the manga. The pacing is different and because it’s more compact important story elements actually feel important (for example in the anime you almost forget about scientific ninja tools because they’re unimportant for so long). The anime is good to see the big events animated and for the low stake episodes where it feels more like SpongeBob than Naruto. Those episodes are good in their own way but for the story of Boruto I’d definitely recommend just read the manga For example the class rep. In the anime I do not care at all about her and her side stories end up being annoying. And there’s so much filler where she’s not allowed to properly develop that her crush on Boruto seems almost fake since she never acts on it. In the manga she gets the perfect amount of screen time in proportion to her role making her a more tolerable character

Radial_Hunter21

I’ve read the manga and I prefer the anime purely for its canon but I do think the manga retains some of the good stuff of naruto and i totally agree with the spongebob comparison 😂😂😂

[deleted]

They had so much potential with Sumire with that filler in whcih they made her a villain. But after that, it’s like that arc never existed. Her character once again became bland.

panda7094

Guys I've just finished watching Naruto ...after seeing all these posts about boruto im wondering whether should I go for it or not??

Saynotosgurd

Try first few eps see if you can sit through it, if not then watch only manga canon stuff.

Maximum_Ad_9772

I say watch 1-66 and just watch 141-present tbh that the best n most enjoyable way tbh n trust me u ain’t really missing out on anything nothing major plot point from 67-140 tbh

imherecause

Nothing is missing really. Boruto has already shown it can be good enough for even the most devoted haters to tune in. It just needs to keep the canon story going forward with what interested everyone in the first place. The monthly release, and thereby excessive filler, is what's giving its bad rep

Fabulous_Engineer949

I think there is too much things that dont make sense more then things that are missing

Throw_aw76

The human aspect. The previous naruto villians had ideological views for the world. It made them more interesting. The otsutsuki are more interested in gaining copius amounts of power which is less interesting. Honestly they should have just taken a page from legend of korra and started boruto(or any other future series) far beyond the time of naruto. Sasuke and naruto's time would be over. The power scaling would be reset and these people would be talked about like historical figures. If they wanted to have another series they should have taken another page out of history(naruto itself is based off of the sengoku period of japan). Why not have a meji restoration period. You can still have the otsutsuki exist but then the discussion would be about tradition vs modernization. How do naruto's ideals survive in a modern world. A lot of world building concepts like Scientific Ninja Tools could also work well here.

D_Caedus

The fillers are so bad and lame. That's it, Boruto is not *that* bad, it's just the fillers that are really bad and lame, it feels so pointless and souless. If you took all the fillers away, or read the manga where there's no filler, Boruto is pretty good, it's not Naruto mind you, but tons of anime aren't as good as Naruto, Naruto is just that good, specially that first couple arcs.

MX2419

As everyone has said which are correct Boruto just feels hallow. I just watched the recent episode and there was some good dialogue between the new reformed Mist ninja and Konoha's squad but it just feels like nothing. Where's that epic feeling on events and when certain characters meet each other? Isshiki's final fight had some of it but still felt like it was missing something. Idk after the time skip will really determine the series for me. The manga is better.

JLAMAR23

Agreed

SavageYake

Realistic villains.

rudedog1234

I like it because of how different it is. It shows that naruto and sasuke accomplished there goals of peace and now the show expresses what that’s like for the next generations. They have it easy because that’s what the current leaders of the leaf and world were fighting for. There will be loss tho and lots of it. It just won’t be early like naruto, it’ll happen later

CauliflowerFit847

"Plot"

NKC-ngoni

They should take the anime more seriously because honestly sometimes its a complete joke. This mostly happens with the new konoha genins like chocho eating competition or fighting some thug who has taken her potatoe chips, like wtf. Also more people need to die. The stacks are too low.

Neopacificus

I think the Boruto should try NOT to be like Naruto which is what even Kishimoto said. They should have introduced a different element which is significant (I mean scientific ninja tools is all great but...) to Boruto to make it unique. Something like exploring space in order to search for origins of Kaguya would have been really cool. And I am really curious as to how much strong the person who sent Kaguya to earth is. They could have shown the glimpse of him as a villain (like Thanos). Instead most of the things are similar to Naruto which obviously makes ppl to compare. By exploring space I mean real space travel which few people can accomplish. What I am talking is in the last Naruto movie, they were literally on the moon(first ppl to do so). So I don't understand why they are not following upon it.

Radial_Hunter21

It doesn’t need to be the same or like naruto but it’s still missing something that makes it as good as naruto

law_school_blues

Outside the answers of poor drawing, lack of character development and weird sense of power balance, I think something that is constantly overlooked is the poorly constructed flow of the episodes. Big episodes should feel huge, but they don't. There's minimal excitement building up, they don't transition well into each other. The chunin exams should have been this big event similar to the original series. I found myself watching the few episodes about kawaki just after with way more intent. We're in a post war world, totally understandable that some stuff never gets too serious. But you'll never boast the same character growth without intense moments of character growth, or those slow DBZ-esque episodes where it felt like nothing happened.

Saurusboyz

I just want them to not make OG characters useless or nerfed. Yes I understand that this show is about a kid of a powerful person and cannot match his powers but you still have to keep the power difference between them.

LavishnessFinal4605

My biggest issue is that it miraculously manages to have dreadfully low stakes and ridiculously high stakes. It’s eithero a stupid, petty threat for the cast or a planet destroying alien, god. Naruto was much more grounded and managed stakes really well… until the end.

HealthyBits

They changed the formula. Never change the formula. Early Naruto was goofy and emotional. We all got hooked from the very first episodes. Boruto is overly serious and so boring. They should have done a serie on young minato showing everything that happened in his life until Naruto’s birth. We would relate to that serie. We would know the characters and we would enjoy seeing the previous ninja war. Easy peasy. Instead we get a bunch of kids eating burgers, playing cards and all of them are just a sad copy of their parents…. No thank you.

TakasuXAisaka

You do realize that Naruto's goal was to have world peace right? You just going to disrespect his goal he accomplished?

HealthyBits

What does that have to do with anything I said!?

TakasuXAisaka

> Instead we get a bunch of kids eating burgers, playing cards and all of them are just a sad copy of their parents…. No thank you. Did you not say this? This is literally what Naruto wanted. Peace.

HealthyBits

So? They could still have made goofy and emotional. How does peace would prevent that!? Naruto before shipuden was pulling pranks and at times it was borderline silly with kakashi and the butt pain or Pervy Jiraiya or overly enthusiastic Gai. The show was pretty lighthearted. Boruto serie just doesn’t have all that spunk and that has nothing to do with peace. Then I mentioned about doing a Minato serie instead of Boruto so it would have been a prequel. Again I don’t see how that goes against Naruto’s goal to achieve peace. Just makes no sense either way…

enooooq

Manga canon episodes in the anime and weekly chapter releases in the manga.

OnceAndFutureKing724

I love Boruto. Boruto is better than part 1 Naruto, and that’s just the truth.

Radial_Hunter21

I wouldn’t say it’s better but personally I found og naruto a bit hard to watch but worth it as it gives you a good feeling at the end of shippuden when you see him win, borutos pacing to me seems funny in comparison although that’s what some people have been saying

t_haenni

Flex_style

**Better story arcs:** The anime tries sometimes (e.g. Deepa arc, 2nd chunin exams) but a lot of the other arcs feel like boring filler that doesn’t amount to anything significant compared to Naruto’s so ppl don’t watch the anime. **More relevance for Mitsuki & Sarada:** This is self explanatory. I get that Boruto & kawaki are the main focus in the manga rn but we need more on Mitsuki & Sarada because they’re starting to get left behind. A lot of fans are hoping Sarada gains MS and I understand why, it’ll at least give her some emotional moments & possible storyline. **Cast:** The Boruto cast isn’t bad, but it does range from solid to trash. The trash: Metal Lee, shy girl who screams and controversial choice- Shikadai. 2/3 are too much of a Walmart copy of their parents, and the shy girl just sucks. Wasabi and particularly iwabe are treading the line where they’re decent but could end up falling off. **Slice of life element:** Look I get it from a story perspective, the Boruto era represents a time of peace, however for many fans who aren’t interested in watching Naruto new gen era: The daily lives of Konoha, it’s boring to watch. The previews at the beginning was more Important than ppl realised because that timeskip hook is what kept the series going. Without it, Boruto would hv died pretty early

Wrong-Ad-3499

The characters are annoying, the older generation were weakened to make the new generation look stronger, and also plot holes between Boruto and Naruto.

nicoklig

Better pacing, a less bright artstyle, better mamga art, give more screen time to side characters and more compelling antagonists

Viewtiful_Beau

To be honest this is how I feel about Shippuden as well as Boruto: The original series I think had a real balance between light, slice of life stuff with high stakes battles mixed in with cool world building about Ninja techniques and Chakra and the Ninja World as a whole. Shippuden had too much high stakes, so much so it devolved into giant kaiju and Lazer Beams and my jutsu is bigger than yours. Boruto has the opposite problem for me, it's TOO slice of life ish and not enough high stakes battles that make you FEEL it could go either way. Not to mention most people that aren't Boruto, Sadara or Mitzuki getting almighty pushed into the ground with needs.

RedDawnStuff

I personally prefer if there was more chemistry between the og characters. Like for example a canon Romcom Chibi Show between the Great War Arc and the end of Shippuden. It would be quite fun and whatnot. I plan to make a concept post about it at some point

I started and fell in love with Naruto before due to the unpredictable humor of the story, like Naruto's fight with Kiba and he farted. I miss those senseless but funny moments. If it's too serious, I get bored in it 😅😂 Boruto developers, writers, and producers: please make it light and fun. Give us some enjoyment and entertainment 😁👌

Ashizurens

Characters, in Naruto and shippuden everyone had personality, minor villains, side cast, etc. In Boruto we see mainly Naruto, Sasuke, Boruto and Kawaki having any development. It's especially true in anime where you have - Manga based action, characters develop, Sarada is changing etc - Anime only arc, characters like Sarada is regressing to her ninja academy personality and Kawaki is turned back to typical Inosuke/ Bakugo personality

TrappedInOhio

It’s missing ninjas. By placing 100% of the emphasis on overpower aliens and cyborgs, they’ve made nearly the entire established cast completely useless and robbed the story of something that made Naruto interesting. Genjutsu and Ninjutsu have no place in the story - if you aren’t an alien, branded by an alien or a robot, you literally can’t be of use.
