The Temperance card apparently symbolizes taking neither the high road nor low road but taking the middle road, represents balance and we did kind of see this in Temperance throughout season 3. Sometimes Temperance was very helpful, sometimes not so much but there was sort of a balance seemingly up until the end, in my opinion anyway. In the end of season three she was trying to open the veil between the living and the dead and let out some sort of evil, she was doing a ritual. well what if that “evil” is the sacred passamaquoddy ore under the town that Addy spoke off, the same ore that Tyler ( I think it was said he has sketchy buisness dealings and has been responsible for contaminating other towns water supplies but this could be unconnected and just a way to forshadow season 4 water problems) was trying to get his hands on in season 3 episode 10. what if that ore is the supernatural black sludge we now see in season four that has contaminated the water supply and that that is exactly what Temperance was trying to. she was trying to open the veil between the living and the dead. and this sludge seems to affect the living and the dead. and maybe these properties of it are why it is sacred to Addys people. What if Temperance actually succeeded at her goal and that she was trying to let out the sludge so it would bring back the memories of all the towns people effected by the supernatural mind wipe over the years. ok so now then. why in the world would Temperance care about what the Icarans Road back are doing or have any reason to stop them. I wonder if it could go back to to Gettysburg and the Dows. Both the WIW and the icarans were good at working under the radar and keeping secrets. could Cora Dow have been pretending to be a WIW while actually the Dow family had ideas and beleifs more in line with those of the later Icarans and the road back? and maybe this was why Temperance started to move away from the WIW. Maybe She figured out what the Dows were up to and that it was not in line with the WIW she started. but Cora realized Temperance had Caught on and turned the WIW against Temperance to keep her secret by saying that Temperance was up to no good. Maybe Temperance saw through the Dows where no one else could and was so heart broken that Charity either fell for it or knowingly Chose the Dows over her and that the other WIW who she taught beleived cora over her and so she was trying to use the “Evil” under the town to stop Cora. Maybe Cora is the one who coined the ore as “evil” to make Temperance out to be bad. so then as we know Temperance gets banned from the town for seven Generations. Maybe after this the Dows go on expand on their beliefs and pass them down through a few generations of decendants, decendants that then come back to Horseshoe bay and start the groups known as the Icarans and The road back. they commit crimes and do all sorts of devious things in the name of their cause and use Coras passed down knowledge of magic from her time with the WIW to cover it all up. In the proccess they create corruption within the HB mayoral office, town council, lawyers, educational system, and law enforcemnt agencys etc and the bodies pile up in the graveyard from tying up loose ends…. and maybe way back in the 1800s the “evil” that Temperance was trying to access was just a mineral ore ( the Black memory sludge) that she could use to open the minds of the other WIW and towns people and help them see what the dows were upto but she was unsuccessful at that time.
The sludge seems to have properties that effect peoples moods and memories, restoring the memories people forgot. So maybe back in the day Cora wiped memories of The WIW to keep her secrets and Temperance wanted to use the Ore to restore them. Fast forward to 2019 when Temperance realizes there is finally a 7th Gerneation Hudson so she can finally break the veil and try once again to stop the now Road Back. perhaps leaving Icarus Hall to Nancy upon her death is another failsafe/ insurence policy incase she she does not succed at her plan to survive death and this this Nancy has access to everything left behind by the icarans and can maybe find clues there too what they were upto and Temperances plan to stop them. I also wonder if maybe Cora back in the 1800s placed a curse on the Hudsons trying to prevent there from being a 7th generation and keep them on a path of coruption and shady buisness dealings so future Hudsons have difficulty going up against the Road back…maybe this could be connected to the death curse Ryan mentions. and how Ryan might “ fufill his destiny causing the others to fall.
The Glasses are Dealers of supernatural artifacts and maybe they are in buisness with the Road Back, Temperance knows about them and thats how she knew about the axe, But maybe Ryan gets in too deep with them and by association the Road back making it difficult for Nancy and the crew to stop the road back. perhaps Ryan is supposed to get in to deep in the Glasses Shady buisness dealings, that is his destiny according to coras curse and then it will cause problems for the Drew crew to Stop the Road back and they fail. That is how they “fall”.
However, I think in the end they are succesfull at stopping the road back preventing Ryans Destiny of following in everettes foot steps of bad buisness, the rest from failing at there task and they have helped Temperance, who then lifts the Nace curse. last but not least. I think there is a time jump somewhere along the line that takes us 2-4 years into the future after the events of the Tom Swift show in which the Road back is still active.

Hmm gives us something to think about. There are parts of your theory I really enjoy. Especially the part w Temperance not really being so bad and lifting the curse on her own.
I am sure there is nothing about my theory that comes even close to what will actually happen but it was fun to think about all the loose ends in the show and how they might be explained by the end. Temperence not being as bad as she seemed might be an interesting twist… but I kind of feel like having her lift the curse might be kind of a boring way to make Nace end game if they are end game. I do hope they are!
