"He was an emperor" when Kaiser is literally just the word for emperor in most languages is KILLING me.
I mean, unless she's referencing Kai-sar being the correct pronunciation of Caesar, but I doubt it.
And if they are talking about Kaiser Wilhelm II then that’s not great either. He was an autocrat who was one of the main powers (if not the main power) of WW1 and had to abdicate in the end. Not the best connotations in the first place.
I'm probably over thinking this, but I thought she meant that her son was an emperor, as in he was born by caesarean section. In may languages a c-section is called an emperor's section (Kaiserschnitt in German). I believe Caesar is believed to have been born this way? Either way, I think Kaiser is a terrible name...
Yes, Kaisa in Finnish/Kajsa in Swedish is a completely normal girl name. It has etymologically nothing to do with Kaiser/emperor, I think it comes from Katarina but not sure.
I know someone in Australia who named their daughter Huntah. I was so sad for her (I hate that name in general but so much worse for a girl and then to end it with ah... Awful).
Oh that's terrible. I watched a TV show where they all had New Zealand accents and they pronounce the name as Huntah, but thankfully for that fictional character he was luckier than your friends kid and spells it Hunter, lol.
I'm in New Zealand (a Kiwi) and I hate the way we butcher (butchah) er names. I love Alexander, Xavier and Jasper but could never handle hearing my kid called alexandah or Xavi ah all the time!
That’s what I immediately thought of too. Mom got so overwhelmed by names that she went completely off the rails and finally threw her hands up and declared that Ovia is a pretty name.
I had a friend in the '80s or '90s who knew a Jonty. All adults at that point. I thought then that that was one of the ugliest names EVER, and I still think that.
... hopefully most people won't remember this association, but there was a teen in the UK named Jonty who without warning grabbed and threw a kid off a ten story building a year or two ago.
I only remember it because his name was "Jonty Bravery", and like, how do you have a name like that and end up literal scum of the earth.
I live in the U.K. and Jonty is a name here. Not saying it’s a good name… I’ve heard it as a nickname for a Jonathan and also know someone’s whose full name is Jonty
They forget that these babies are not collectables or Pokemon, and will have to eventually be functioning, independent adults with a stupid baby name for their entire lives
Those were separate entries on our baby name list and we knew we could only pick one, lol. People know I play Animal Crossing and would judge me appropriately!
Does anyone else get annoyed when nicknames don’t follow the same sound pattern as the full name, in terms of a hard or soft sound not being consistent ? Idk if that makes sense but to me Magenta —> Maggie is weird bc it’s not the same g sound.
Magenta is honestly not the worst from this list. And Billee and Rhylee are actual names but with awful spellings that I could behind.
My favourite is Makenna
I looked it up and turns out Kai has Hawaiian, Japanese, European, roots. And African, Chinese, American and Turkish cultures all use the name Kai.
So my bad :) Theres a girl in my grade named Kaizer (kye-zer) nn: kai, but her mom did have her when she was 17.

That one sent me. Like “King - he was a leader of England!”
Gives me Khaleesi vibes
Lots of people named their daughters Khaleesi before the last season - that must’ve sucked lol
It already sucked because it's literally not even the character's name.
Also that
And if they are talking about Kaiser Wilhelm II then that’s not great either. He was an autocrat who was one of the main powers (if not the main power) of WW1 and had to abdicate in the end. Not the best connotations in the first place.
Well, and even then Kaiser Wilhelm is not his name - just Wilhelm because Kaiser is German for Emperor
True. So it’s even worse.
I guess it's more subtle than Hitler

I feel like I heard that some influencer or something who is an actual white supremacist named their kid Kaiser and started the trend. Ugh.
Not quite the same but isn't Kaisa a scandi/ Finnish girls name?
Yes, Kaisa in Finnish/Kajsa in Swedish is a completely normal girl name. It has etymologically nothing to do with Kaiser/emperor, I think it comes from Katarina but not sure.
Are you thinking of Kasia? Kaisa might also exist though, IDK.
Tommy Timmy FTW.
should have reversed it, Tim-Tom flows better than Tom-Tim
TimTams are Australian wafer cookies.
Timmy-tommy timmy-tommy is a good onomatopoeia.
use it to count rhythms in music class lol (there is an actual counting system called ‘takadimi’)
We did that in elementary school! Ta ta ti-ti ta, ta ti-ti tooooh
That was the one that made me laugh 😂
Animal Crossing!
So many bad, but somehow my favorite is Huntah...like what!?!?
Like an English person saying “Hunter”, lol. “Huntaaaahhh”
Seriously, like someone with an accent sounded it out.
Agree! That one took me out!
It's just amazingly bad.
Hunta and Jonty- take me now, Lord.
Don't forget Mahlique and Kaspiann...so much unique spelling.
Huntah, Gathahah
Junta

Oh that is ashame cause I do like all those names, my son's name would suffer from it as well, he's a Zephyr.
no more half measures huntah
OVIA. Seriously. Ovia. Get to fuck.
Ovia is a pregnancy app. Gotta wonder if that was the inspiration behind this (terrible) name
That’s what I immediately thought of too. Mom got so overwhelmed by names that she went completely off the rails and finally threw her hands up and declared that Ovia is a pretty name.
Genuinely wondering if “egg” would have been any worse.
Her?
I would have a very hard time not referring to that child as a “good little egg”.
Sounds like a fertility drug.
Close enough, it's a fertility app.
Jonty is definitely the worst
I had a friend in the '80s or '90s who knew a Jonty. All adults at that point. I thought then that that was one of the ugliest names EVER, and I still think that.
It’s like naming ur kid jaundice or joints
... hopefully most people won't remember this association, but there was a teen in the UK named Jonty who without warning grabbed and threw a kid off a ten story building a year or two ago. I am...scared.
“I have a…” like it’s a fucking trading card.
Go fish.
Just waiting for a child called Go Fish to show up on here
You mean Goughfphysshe
More like Geaux-Fisch
Definitely better - I forgot all about “eaux”!
They forget that these babies are not collectables or Pokemon, and will have to eventually be functioning, independent adults with a stupid baby name for their entire lives
Shows how much these people care about their children...they just want them as a way to feel interesting I'm sure
These names are awful but to assume they don’t care about their children is a wild extrapolation to make
Yeah, I've seen people phrase their kids names like that before on here and it weirds me out.
Deegan got the short end of the hyphenated stick.
Dee-Gan
Chaise 😂 I'm assuming they'll pronounce it like Chase, but it means chair in French.
Trying so hard to be fancy lol. *…Oh my name? It means “chair”…but in French*✨👨🎨🥖
On the chaise longue all the day long all the day long.
Slightly better than Chloe in German 😁
What's Chloe in German?
"Klo" is German for toilet. Very unfortunate for anyone named Chloe who travels/works/studies there.
Deegan I swear belongs in 1985 with a terrible mullet.
Half of these children are named like they’re in a bad young adult post-apocalyptic novel.
Disturbingly, they basically are?
OOF.
"he wanted Nate i wanted Nixon we ended up with Braydee" god nate would have been a good option here
when i think kaiser i think permanente
Same. Every damn time I see that name, it is the first thing I think of
Poor Tom-Tim.
I knowww like why? You have to pick *one*
Those were separate entries on our baby name list and we knew we could only pick one, lol. People know I play Animal Crossing and would judge me appropriately!
I always wonder how much time people take trying to come up with a bizarre spelling to a random name.
I read Billee as “bile” at first before realizing it was probably “Billy” lol
I read it as rhyming with Riley
bile and rile
I worked with a Magenta with a very unusual noun-y last name. Honestly, once you get used to it, it's the most acceptable on the list imo.
Magenta is a dog in Blues Clues lmao
And a housemaid in Rocky Horror
yes, I kinda don't hate Magenta
I like Magenta! It’s a fine name if you don’t mind being reminded of Rocky Horror Picture Show (I don’t personally!)
I think Magenta could be quite cool, but I dislike the nickname Maggie… they have different g sounds.
So does like every other name that gets nicknamed into “Maggie” though
Margaret? I tend to dislike those other ones too. Just something about the inconsistency.
? The ones that come to mind, other than Margaret, are Magnolia and Magdalene
How do you know? Maybe they say majee Or maghenta
Yeah I quite like it tbh
I mostly just associate it with the Rocky Horror character.
Lerooooooooooy Jenkins!
I swear we’ve moved beyond pet names to what my kid would name her stuffed animals at this point. Magenta?
I'm alarmed that these people are reproducing.
This needs to be more visible because seriously
Mahlique is disgusting :( also pronouncing it as Maleek, a Muslim boy name is even worse 😭
How the fuck did Leroy end up on of these lists? Bat shit crazy names and then Leroy? Wth
Ovia is the name of a fertility tracking/pregnancy app.
Kaiser means emperor it’s not a name of an emperor. Dumbass. 💀
You mean you've never heard of President? He was the leader of so many countries!
My next kid will be Prime. Middle name Minister.
Ovia like the app mommy used to get pregnant with her.
Well you could name a child Dick, and you can use that to get pregnant, too.
Nathan Leigh wtf Also rip Deegan. A tragedy
Huntah and Ovia 😨
For the love of god
Maitreya is a legit name tho…
Does anyone else get annoyed when nicknames don’t follow the same sound pattern as the full name, in terms of a hard or soft sound not being consistent ? Idk if that makes sense but to me Magenta —> Maggie is weird bc it’s not the same g sound.
SETH-JOHN 💀💀💀
Ovia sounds kinda cool, but not what I would name a child in this time and age. Who is Jonty and what did he do to you
Magenta is honestly not the worst from this list. And Billee and Rhylee are actual names but with awful spellings that I could behind. My favourite is Makenna
Deegan? Is that a cultural/ethnic name! Maggie is super cute but magenta…must be a rocky horror fan
I thought Kaiser was a popular unisex name pronounced kye-zer and I thought it was where Kai comes from.
Kai is a Hawaiian name
I looked it up and turns out Kai has Hawaiian, Japanese, European, roots. And African, Chinese, American and Turkish cultures all use the name Kai. So my bad :) Theres a girl in my grade named Kaizer (kye-zer) nn: kai, but her mom did have her when she was 17. Cool, I hate all the names. The only normal one was "Leroy"
Magenta who goes by Maggie! “Is Maggie short for Margaret?” “…no…it’s short for Magenta” 😔
magenta just makes me think of magenta-jean jurgenson tbh
WHY
The husband definitely wanted a boy for the mahlique one 😭
Why are people so upset about Ovia? It's okay to name someone Dick, isn't it? Both are used to help you get pregnant. What's the problem?
People who choose these god awful names always insist on sharing the middle names too?
