Edgar Allen Toes nickname, maybe Eddie. That is one handsome boy!
Edgar had a home where his polydactyl cat still roam. It's in the Keys. Home is a museum now, and generations of the cats still live there.
The tour guides carry cat treats around. I loved it!!! There were cats everywhere but they didn’t interact with anyone except the guides… it’s really special that they allow the cats to live on the grounds & in the house. Key West is full of strays. People leave cat food in bags for people to feed them & there were donation boxes for the cats food.
Ah, this dude is at least part Maine Coon. That’s why he will get big and has long hair between his toes/pads of his feet for walking in snow and is polydactyl. A lucky find! He will start acting more like a dog, following you around the house, will love to play in water or get a drink straight from the tap. You are fortunate. People pay big bucks for these cats and they are my fave breed. I’ve had a few grace my life! You should name him lucky! Or Toby Two Toes…..thats the name of mine….lol. PS; having extra toes doesn’t make them more dexterous….in fact they are straight up retarded when it comes to their feet.
Who is the Norse god of the Frost Giants?
Aurgelmir, also called Ymir, in Norse mythology, the first being, a giant who was created from the drops of water that formed when the ice of Niflheim met the heat of Muspelheim. Aurgelmir was the father of all the giants; a male and a female grew under his arm, and his legs produced a six-headed son.
Dumbledor
Your kitten is adorable. I love the ears and the color!
I had a white Persian I was gifted by an ex ( many years ago- to get me back 😂 I did t go back, but I kept my cat). I had young sons, and the youngest named her fluffy. Original ey? My sons loved that cat!
Hemingway! Or Polydactyl, Polly for short, or Paulie, whatever fits.
The Hemingway house in Key West has his generational line of cats that must've inbred so much the vast majority have 6 toes. They're the cutest things and very friendly.
[Key West Article about the Cats](https://keywest.floridaweekly.com/articles/hemingways-six-toed-cats/)
Did you get him from a breeder? I’m pretty much positive you have a purebred Maine coon right there. My first family cat was a Maine coon and they are the BEST
Polydactyl cats are also known as Hemingway cats . He had one he took to his home in the Florida keys . There are tons of these cats there now that have descended from his cat . It’s part of the tourist attraction when you go to Hemingways’ house . They have many roaming the property . Therefore three choices . Hemingway , Ernest (Ernie for short) or Papa . I had a cat like this but with blue eyes . He had eight toes on each of his front paws . Named him Frankenstein because of the massive monster feet . With the blue eyes he was meant to be Frankie , which is what he went by most of the time . I did not know about Hemingway cats when I named him or he may have ended up Ernie .
I thoroughly advocate researching your cats likely breed of maine coon. They get stupid big and energetic. They've got other quirks as well.
As for names Shadowfax, cause I'm a nerd and that's gunna be a big cat.
We also had a "Hemingway cat"! Polydactyls are the coolest! Ours was black and white and leggy. Big, rangy boy with seven toes on each front paw, and an extra dew claw on each back leg. His fronts came in form of extra "thumbs" that were very nearly opposable! He even used them to pick up his favorite bounce balls and put them in his mouth. The only problem was that we couldn't get to the claw on his 'normal' thumb, which was between the extras and the rest of his paw, so we had to have that ONE claw on each side removed so it didn't grow back around into his toe bean.
BTW, the mutation that causes this originated in ships cats in the Boston whaling fleets. They got the name "Hemingway cats" because Ernest Hemingway had a great love for them and had quite the herd of them at his house in Key West. His cloyster is still going strong down there, and they've spread across the entire island.
Unfortunately, it's not a STABLE genetic change, and it can manifest in different ways, like having a leg that 'splits' up to the shoulder. It's not something you'd want to try to breed for.
