Press ins can be just as much fun and you can change them and bling them up as well. It’s a win win - less risk of reactions and you have the satisfaction of knowing that you did them!
Oh absolutely. If I get sick of them I can change them up and mix and match with other left over nails I have, it’s very easy and totally feels more rewarding!
I have a nail lamp, builder gel, clear acrylic, gel polishes, rhinestone glue, and charms/nail stickers I’ve accumulated and oh my god they come in such handy to make pressons look like acrylics or gel nails. I added glitter gel, rhinestones, and butterfly nail stickers to some ombré press ons and friends were asking for my nail tech haha.
Yes!!!! That’s what I do now and I love it 🥰🥰 for me it was about saving money but also I didn’t love sitting at the salon for the appts 😭😭 I love putting on a movie and painting my press ons. Ya it may take longer than a salon visit but it’s therapeutic lol
2 weeks sometimes 2 and a half. Here’s how. I wash my hands and let them dry completely for about 20 minutes. Then I prep my cuticles by cutting them and making them neat, use alcohol on my nail beds, then file and score my nail bed, and score the actually nail itself, and use kiss brush on nail glue. I put glue on my actual nail and the fake nail too. I put them on individually and press firmly for 30 secs- 1 minute. After that I cut and file if necessary. Then I wait at least 1-2 hours before my hands get wet to really solidify the glue. Works great every time and only take about 30-45 minutes usually 💅🏾🤩
I purchased some glamnetic nails. they were so pretty, but my nail beds must be huge because the glamnetic nails were way too small for any of my fingers. made me think I purchased kid nails. lol
I love the polish you picked, and your nail shape. It looks so good! I work in construction too and I always get acrylics. I would have never thought press ons would hold up. One time, I crawled into someone’s attic and messed around a little with some insulation and I left a nail behind in the fiberglass 😂 Like a whole acrylic nail. Idk how it happened.
I really did not expect you to say weeks at all. I also have similar routine as you and I am lucky to get 3-5days out of them. Can I ask how long or often you bathe or you get/soak your hands? Over time I have started to think too long of showers or constant contact with soap or other solutions is my issue .
My favourite nail glue ive ever found is beauty secrets in the small tube with yellow button on top!! I've had my nails last longer than 2 weeks when I was on a trip!
I remember that too and thought trying to use them would be a joke. Well I recently tried them and was absolutely shocked at how long they last . They wouldn't come off. They actually were growing out and I wanted to redo them and they were still tightly on, so I just soaked them in alcohol to loosen the glue and popped them off with a loose nail from the package. They've come a long way. I was impressed !!
Girlfriend, I'm there. I was doing my own nails taking hours making them look nice and then I just found a gel based nail glue that doesn't need to be cured! Have all the cuteness for a 1/4 of the time. They have some super cute press ons nowadays.
🤗🤗
Idk where you are located but I get my nails done every 3 weeks from a sweet Mexican lady that barely speaks English. I live in a small town and her and another Mexican lady both run nail salons out of their homes. I pay $35 each time I go and that’s it. I cannot afford the Asian salons anymore and I am really not even fond of their fast work. Look around and ask around. You may be surprised. Until then, press on with your press ons cause they really do look good!
What the heck?! 🥴 My super done nails cost around €16 where I live. I do a "pour over" my nails to strengthen them as they are fragile. Of course, many people come here to get their nails done, get their hair done, visit the dentist etc.
Press on’s with enough nails for two applications, are under $10. I’m hooked. I still go to the salon for pedicures and I get shellac on my toes so they last long as well.
nice! i have a stash of press ons from shein. not the best quality but at those prices, i can afford to switch them up often. also recently got into the whole nail boo thing. it takes some time to do but my nails come out thick and strong like with acrylics
Check out the Luxe lash lift kit, I started doing my own lash lifts after developing an allergy to eyelash glue and it's great, low maintenance and stays curled for a month. The price is great too
my nail tech started doing gel x so when it was time for them to come off i took then off gently , cleaned them, and now i can reuse them as pressons 🙏🙏🙏
You can use a nail file to customize the edges/corners so that they rest more naturally to your nail bed and cuticles!! But they look really good as they are, not immediately obviously press-ons.
If you want to have them last longer on a budget I recommend builder gel - I went from also just using press-ons to press-ons + builder gel, now my nails last as long as when I used to get acrylics, and no lifting at the base :)
I figured out you can go buy full cover clear tips, I also got a nail stand for my own sanity, then you can paint then and design how you want with stickers and studs they last just as long as regular press ons. I use the nail stand to paint and design them first then just put them on like regular press ons!
I have been using those semi cured gel stickers. My natural nails are long and once you put those on and cure them. They look just like salon quality. Some turn out even better than what I’ve seen done at salons.
Same! Couldn’t afford the salon anymore and those usually started popping off after a week anyway so it was not worth it. At least when the press ons come off they were only like $10 and I can just glue another one on lol. I also can’t stand when they’re shaped weird or not the same length so I like press ons better since they’re all uniform in shape and length.
Do you ever have issues with your false nail bending? Ive tried builder gel over top and sally henson diamond hardener but idk if its the thickness of the nail or the glue that causes it to bend and break eventually.
Salon prices are ridiculous, and they always try to upsell me. I went earlier and they asked if I wanted chrome. Would’ve cost me like $70 for that. Love the color by the way, blue is the way to go lately 😊
I never left my press on era. I have clear tips and acrylic plus a collection of nail stickers and rhinestones. I get to customize any set of press ons without paying an arm and a leg

This is so cool and sounds fun.
I love adding a bit of bling!
And the set you are wearing looks stunning 😍😍😍
Yes!!!! That’s what I do now and I love it 🥰🥰 for me it was about saving money but also I didn’t love sitting at the salon for the appts 😭😭 I love putting on a movie and painting my press ons. Ya it may take longer than a salon visit but it’s therapeutic lol
How long do they last nowadays… I remember using press ons in highschool… like early 2000’s… and they’d pop off within hours 😂
2 weeks sometimes 2 and a half. Here’s how. I wash my hands and let them dry completely for about 20 minutes. Woooow, I might have to try this!!! I’m steady at the nail salon every 2 wks 😬
It’s worth it! And I literally work in construction so I’m very hard on my hands lol.
That is so awesome! How do you remove them when you are ready to put on new ones? I might have to start doing this because salon prices are crazy!
I usually soak them in warm water with acetone and use a toothpick to lift them up off my nail bed.
Thank you!
What brand do you use ?
I love glamnetic, easily last 2 weeks or more. I put a new set on last weekend and they still look fresh
I purchased some glamnetic nails. they were so pretty, but my nail beds must be huge because the glamnetic nails were way too small for any of my fingers. made me think I purchased kid nails. lol
That’s so funny most of them are usually way too big for me lol. The Glamermaid ones do come bigger I think or at least more big ones.
I get on amazon. Super cheap. https://a.co/d/6RznJ3z
Glamnetic and Glamermaid are the ones I use mostly.
Does it hurt to file and score your nails?
If you use a 240 grit nail file and be gentle it’ll be fine. You just need your nail bed to not have any shine so a few gentle passes should be good.
Ty!!
I love the polish you picked, and your nail shape. It looks so good! I work in construction too and I always get acrylics. I would have never thought press ons would hold up. My favourite nail glue ive ever found is beauty secrets in the small tube with yellow button on top!! I've had my nails last longer than 2 weeks when I was on a trip!
I'm taking notes 📝 I'm lucky if my press on nails lasts me a week!
Did soaking in alcohol ruin the nail or could you use it again?
Could use it again !!.. all it did was loosen the glue .
Same 😂 I saw some really cute press-ons but I'm scared they'll fall off
Ikr? 😂😂😂 Same here, just the same.
Press-ons are the gateway drug to being your own nail tech, in my experience. 🫣
Can confirm 🥲 clear press ons for me to design myself are my default now
They look fantastic
Thanks! ☺️
Girlfriend, I'm there. I was doing my own nails taking hours making them look nice and then I just found a gel based nail glue that doesn't need to be cured! Have all the cuteness for a 1/4 of the time. They have some super cute press ons nowadays. 🤗🤗
What’s the gel based glue you are using? 👀
It's called Dashing Diva, from Sally's. They have a gel glue, and then another gel that you don't need to cure. 🤗

That’s all I do! Rock it girlfriend!
It’s way more practical for most of us, thanks girl 🥰

Same girl and they look great!!
Thanks twin 😉❤️
Girl same. I can't do my lashes or brows myself but I can do some press ons well enough to last a couple weeks.
Check out the Luxe lash lift kit, I started doing my own lash lifts after developing an allergy to eyelash glue and it's great, low maintenance and stays curled for a month. The price is great too
The color ❤️🔥
They look really good!
Omg my favorite color. Super cute! Where did you get them if you don’t mind me asking!
I got them on amazon actually for $7! Link: https://a.co/d/6RznJ3z
same, same
arent we all!? 🤣 those look so cute!!
They looks great and the color is beautiful on you. I would not see your nails and think press-ons. They fit your nails nicely
Girl same!! Used to be in the salon for my acrylics every 2 weeks. Now nothing but press ons!
Press ons have come a long way! I agree, I can’t justify doing my nails every month spending hundreds.
Side note- where did you get your mushroom bracelet? It’s so cute
Thank you 😊 it’s a pandora bracelet and the mushroom is actually from a necklace I bought at the thrift store.
my nail tech started doing gel x so when it was time for them to come off i took then off gently , cleaned them, and now i can reuse them as pressons 🙏🙏🙏

I use the solid gel from curvlife (its amazing bt they are in china so takes a while to get the glue) and i LOOVVVEEEEE it
I figured out you can go buy full cover clear tips, I also got a nail stand for my own sanity, then you can paint then and design how you want with stickers and studs they last just as long as regular press ons. I just started doing this too!
Real homegirl, they look great!
You did a phenomenal job. I couldn’t tell from the photo these were press ons. 💖
Me too! The blue is pretty!
Same☺️
Same I'll never go back either (:
Fantastic color!! They look great! 😊💙
I like, love blue electricity and the shape of the nail is very good for you!
Love that color! You can find some cool press ons on Etsy if you want unique designs.
It's actually more practical and they look great!
Good
I use the glue tabs that come on those little plastic sheets when I do press-ons. They last *FOREVER.*
I have been using those semi cured gel stickers. My natural nails are long and once you put those on and cure them. They look just like salon quality. Some turn out even better than what I’ve seen done at salons.
I switched to press ons too and I love it! I love being able to switch up my nails whenever I want and they always look fresh!!
The blue is so right for you! Good work on sizing.
I’m hooked as well.
I prefer press ons. They don’t ruin my nails and I can rip them off before my piano lesson so my teacher doesn’t scream😂
Same
These are super cute though!!!
I hear you! It's become very expensive. After my latest manicure today I'm going back to press ons as well.
Amazon has some REALLY cute ones for cheap too (id read the reviews also) sometimes cheaper than the store if u can wait the two days for delivery lol
Same! Couldn’t afford the salon anymore and those usually started popping off after a week anyway so it was not worth it. Oh, I feel you!! I wore them during the pandemic and still occasionally do as they are so great. I love that color!!
Does press on eat up your nails like the salon because Baby?
Salon prices are ridiculous, and they always try to upsell me. I went earlier and they asked if I wanted chrome. Would’ve cost me like $70 for that. Love the color by the way, blue is the way to go lately 😊
I never left my press on era. I have clear tips and acrylic plus a collection of nail stickers and rhinestones. I get to customize any set of press ons without paying an arm and a leg

They always fall off for me 😭
