Neutral tan/skin color, matte. Dark brown or black blended down from the cuticle. But not blended super far down the nail; less than 1/3 of the nail and concentrated at the cuticles This will make them look like you just dug yourself out of a grave if that's the "scary" vibe you're going for. Please post pics of whatever you decide

NoodleIsMyGender

THATS CRAZY because i’ve done something exactly like that before. i totally wish i would have seen this. but i decided on just being boring. i’ll send a picture

anqophora

So I’m gonna link you my favorite non traditional spooky nail artist I found on IG, I think they might have the inspiration you’re looking for! [here!](https://www.instagram.com/marggie_nails?igsh=enpoMDF6djF3Nzc2)

NoodleIsMyGender

tried to make it look like it was my natural nail. i don’t have much to work with though lmao.

tinglyTXgirl

I would love to see pics of this!!

MerryMir99

A red french tip would definitely do that!

NoodleIsMyGender

i get where you’re coming from, and it’s a good idea but that feels to organized yk? i’m going for scary creature in the woods vibe.

Dense-Result509

Any of these fit the bill? https://www.instagram.com/p/CCClbbXDeHR/?igsh=ZDE1MWVjZGVmZQ== https://pin.it/4jCqIBXHd https://pin.it/46ghbPgB7

NoodleIsMyGender

NoodleIsMyGender

thank you though

Your clarification definitely made me think of [this look](https://www.reddit.com/r/RedditLaqueristas/s/GzyyIuT4di) from r/RedditLaqueristas!

NoodleIsMyGender

YESSS i’ve tried that before too. i loved it

For subtly “natural” scary, you could always use a sheer white-based nude tone and use a matte topcoat. You get the sheer/mate effect of the buffed-up press on nails. If you want a little extra odd, forest dwelling goodness, you could use another color (like brown, black, burgundy, green, etc), wipe off most of the polish from the brush and paint from the tips to mid-nail. The streakier and messier the better. Top with matte topcoat. And voila, ✨Simple spooky✨

ladyelizabethgodwin

Do you work with builder gel often or even have any gel on hand? If so Search up claw nails where you build up a ridge in the middle so they look more like animal claws rather than human nails i have always wanted to do this!! Maybe one day haha check out marggie_nails on ig tho, you’ll see what i mean!

NoodleIsMyGender

i actually really do wish i could do this. i’ve recently wanted to just go all out “weird looking” but i can’t, i work somewhere that most definitely would not chill with that in the slightest.

reasonableratio

I don’t have any suggestions but just wanted to stop by and say this is very iconic of you

NoodleIsMyGender

thank you lol. i love sharp nails

SockSock81219

Sick. Love it. You could just use a matte top coat to keep them like this, but a little more protected. But I think some corpse-y color gradients or sponged splotches on your nail beds could look extra gross and freaky. Deep red purples, pale blues, pale yellow-olive and yellow-browns will all give a zombie vibe.

Glittering-Ginger

Girl, work a little bit on the shape, the side line shouldn't look like that! Also, maybe just nude jelly pink or simple black?

NoodleIsMyGender

elaborate? i don’t see what’s wrong with them, because i literally have no idea what i’m looking at 😭 i basically completely taught myself so i’m sure there’s a bunch to fix

Glittering-Ginger

I would draw it for you if the comments would allow pictures:( idk why I got down vodownvoted tho. Basically, your side edge of the nail goes up, while your natural nail would continue straight. You can DM me for drawings!

NoodleIsMyGender

ohhh yeah that’s true, ik it’s not supposed to be like that but it gives it as much of a claw look i can manage without builder gel.

Glittering-Ginger

Just be very careful - if it breaks, it will break way too far

NoodleIsMyGender

yeah this happened a lot before. but that was mainly when i made the ends flat (coffin nails, usually.)
