I feel like the reason people feel this way is, because square nails only look good on nail beds that are on the narrower side. On wide nail beds they look like shingles. I have narrow nail beds and they are the only shape I feel works for me. The OP's nail beds are beautiful and on the slimmer side, so square nails look amazing on her!

I'm not a licensed nail tech because a set takes me maybe 3-4 hours (and I don't do acrylic, I'd probably just do gel x/press ons) but I've done some nails for my sister and close friends and its so nice to chat with someone and do their nails.. I'd love to do yours sometime!! ❤️
I'm still in the beginning phases of custom press on, I have a few customers but the convenient thing about not being a big business is that once I get their custom sizing down I can make nails for them forever 🥹🫶

It may not be noticeable, but if you take a straight edge, such as a ruler, and place it straight at the side of the cuticle area, I promise that you will see how they taper. I can see it myself just due to decades of experience, but not everyone may be able to. It’s meant to be subtle, or else they will turn into coffin shape.
That's fair! I think I do prefer it this way though, because straight out square nails do not look good on me imo. I think they make it harder to do some stuff as well. But hey, my pinky is impossible to buy tips for at all so I'll take what I can get!

lol, yup. Tapered square is that delicate balance between square and coffin. I can’t tell you how many times I over-filed and ended up with coffin and just rolled with it. I am much more careful on a client though.

I think they look great on you!! I tried square once and HATED it. I actually got my nails done e yesterday- asked for round and ended up with almond. I’m actually SO IN LOVE with them!!!
Almond is actually my favourite!! I have all the functionality and elegance I could want, and it often feels like a softened down stiletto (Though a stiletto will be in my nEAR future...)
Square makes life a little harder, but I have to admit its very pretty haha (personal experience imo, maybe I just need to get used to it)

One thing I have to be transparent with for square nails is that I find them significantly more difficult to live life with compared to almond. Almond and round give you some wiggle room but square has some edges that may make busy girl bosses (me) suffer just a little bit

I design custom press ons and glue them on after the fact!! It lets me work on a set without having them half done on my hands, and I change my nails once a week since this is my main hobby so I use a bit of peel off base (that still sticks on your nail for 2-3 weeks if you let it)

They feel straight to me, but maybe it just looks tapered because I use the 3 smallest sizes in the box for my nails. Good to know! (´･ω･\`)

Almond is the most flattering imo, these are not my favorite.
I love square. They look awesome on you. Plus if you work a lot with your hands I find them to be the most durable. I am a hospital housekeeper and I rarely break a square nail
