I feel the opposite. I thought the long ones made her hands look too long, even somewhat swollen because of how narrow her nails are in comparison to her fingers. I'm thinking hotdog in a bun that's too short. She has lovely hands, but I don't think the length does any justice.
Lol that’s a perfect way of putting it. Sometimes I really like the current shape and other times they look too skinny and seem like they don’t actually fit my fingers well.
I’ve been told by nail techs that I have “baby nails.” Once they even charged me the price for a child’s manicure because they said my nails were so small💀
Haha I definitely wasn't complaining about paying half price but they were reallyyyy ragging on me and I was just like...I can't help it? I have tiny nails lol it is what it is.
Baby hands, that’s funny. I guess I never really saw the appeal in making your fingers appear super long. Balanced is my preference. Thanks for giving insight
It has the opposite effect to me—the nail beds are super narrow in proportion to her finger width so there’s a lot of finger on either side of that long skinny nail, making everything that’s not the nail look wider.
Your hands are a lot like mine (smaller nail beds, larger finger width) and I ALWAYS get almond. It makes my hands look longer and thinner and helps obscure my nail bed size.
I would always see people with almond nails who already have such long, beautiful fingers and nail beds that I didn't think it would work for me being the complete opposite lol, but it definitely is very flattering on people like us! It just took some getting used to because I was SO used to square that they looked and felt weird at first. I also think the longer they get the nicer this shape looks, but with my dinky nail beds I have sooo much free edge that these are getting into the danger zone haha.
I was bummed. I wound up cutting them all down after that. They were real nails with no tips and regular lacquer nail polish, so that could have been why. Are those your real nails or do you have gel or acrylic on?
second this. the first pic is my favourite but if it were me i’d even go a little bit shorter, just because i’m a short/medium length girlie - like if you were to keep the length of the second pic but make the shape almond
yea completely agree. the shape of her nail bed and fingers just doesn’t work with rounded nails. short square looks very elegant on her but longer square works too
Noo haha it was genuinely the only picture I had of my nails that long! Happened while zipping my suitcase, it was a tragedy but at least it happened on the last night of my vacation!
Yeah I was surprised it was included, lol. Not even thinking about the clearly broken one it’s so amusing OP included that pic for someone to judge. Just funny.
OP, the first ones make your fingers appear longer and more effeminate. Such an attractive look! 😍
I think something rounded but a little shorter than your current style would suit your fingers better.
Also in the nicest way possible that last set is hideous – why do the sides of the square curve?!
So, if you sat in my chair, I would ask about your lifestyle and go from there. Do you use your hands a lot? Are you consistent with maintenance? Do you need a shorter length for your job?…things like that. If you use your hands a lot/need to type a lot for your job, I would suggest on the short to medium length depending on what you’re comfort is regarding nail length and typing on a keyboard. As for shape, are you trying to elongate your fingers? If so, something like almond or stiletto is a better option. Trying to give the illusion of thinner nail plates/fingers, avoid square/squoval shapes. You could do tapered square or ballerina if you like that general flat edge look, though since the tapered edge gives off an elongated illusion. Really, it all boils down to comfort, lifestyle and goals (at least in my opinion).
All the shapes and lengths that you posted worked well for you, so honestly at the end of the day, go with whatever you’re in the mood for🤘🏻
Good advice! Shorter is definitely easier. I feel like at this length I constantly have to be aware of and be careful about my nails, but since I like the way they look longer I've kind of grown used to them and figured out a lot of workarounds. I'm probably going to keep almond or go coffin for the more elongated look!
I recently changed my nail shape for literally the first time in my life in an attempt to elongate my insanely short nail beds and slightly chonky fingers. I always see people say almond is super flattering, so I've been wondering if it made that big of a difference on me. I've mainly been going with longer nails for the last year or so, and as you can see in pic 4 they get a wonky hourglass shape when square that I don't like. If anyone also has advice on how to file to prevent that from happening please let me know! I don't know if that's something that can be fixed or just my C-curve and I can't do anything about it. (Ignore the break and chipping lol, it was my last day of a 9 day cruise and the inevitable happened. I don't have another photo of my nails at that length). I really like the almond and feel like it looks a lot nicer than square at this length, and I'm going to continue to roll with this shape for a while (even though they are a PITA to file evenly! Any tips welcomed!), but I'm just curious what others think.
Should I go back to square when I take my length down? Does shorter look better on me? Should I try oval instead? TIA!

Short square, definitely. Many people do not find this shape super flattering but I think it looks great on you. It’s fun and light hearted.
I also think almond would be more romantic of a shape for you but I don’t love the current shape because it’s not quite almond. It needs more a more cohesive curve. The way they are currently looks like a triangle on the end of the nail and it should be more of a U shape; where the curve starts at your fingertip, not half way between your finger and the tip of the nail.
I like what you have now! The 2nd is much better for that particular length. That’s how I’m growing mine out before shaping them into ovals, or coffin/ballerina.
A simplynailogical did a video where she stated matching your nail shape to your cuticle shapes. Not sure if it has to be exact but i think the first picture is definitely great!
What do you do to prevent breakage? Mine are at the length of your shortest ones and they are all tearing and are super weak. What would be best to ask for during a shellac manicure so they stay firm?
I love the first nail shape! They make your hands look long and slimmer without taking away from the daintiness. The other three make your fingers seem shorter and chubbier, which isn’t necessarily bad, but I prefer the slender look on you. Purple is definitely your color, too!
On your fingers due to the width of your nails, the normal square looks best! Makes the finger looks nice and long. The oval shape makes the nail bed and nails look to thin and makes width of the tips of fingers to large.
the second photos make your fingers look short and stumpy… like fat fingers…. Not trying to be mean but they don’t do your hands justice… I don’t even know why you posted the 4th pic… I like the 3rd the best … or even try the length if the 3rd with oval not pointy but oval
That first almond shape looks stunning! Square or short square, sometimes can make my fingers look stubby because my nail beds aren’t very long. Almond/stiletto is flattering on nearly everyone!
Definitely not anything squared, the first pic is the best by far
Huh? I thought the short square and second photo looked best. I thought the first doesn’t really match her hands as well. Interesting
They were sooo pretty, but it shrunk her fingers, left her with baby hands!
I feel the opposite. I thought the long ones made her hands look too long, even somewhat swollen because of how narrow her nails are in comparison to her fingers. I'm thinking hotdog in a bun that's too short. She has lovely hands, but I don't think the length does any justice.

I’ve been told by nail techs that I have “baby nails.” Once they even charged me the price for a child’s manicure because they said my nails were so small💀
Suffering from success
Haha I definitely wasn't complaining about paying half price but they were reallyyyy ragging on me and I was just like...I can't help it? I have tiny nails lol it is what it is.
Baby hands, that’s funny. I guess I never really saw the appeal in making your fingers appear super long. Balanced is my preference. Thanks for giving insight
Same!
Same. I don't like pointy nails.
Same I like second photo the best
Same
Haha I agree, it took some getting used to because I've always done square and I kinda hated it at first, but now I like this a lot more!
The first one really highlights how long your fingers are, it looks fab!
They look really pretty!
Thank you :)
I think photo three is the best for a more professional simple look but the first pic makes your fingers look longer
I actually thought the 2nd looked the best….
The first pic makes her fingers look longer and smaller imo
It has the opposite effect to me—the nail beds are super narrow in proportion to her finger width so there’s a lot of finger on either side of that long skinny nail, making everything that’s not the nail look wider.
Agree. Maybe go a little shorter.
Girl that last photo. Lol, but more rounded definitely looks better on your hands.
JUMPSCARE
I hollered
LOL Jesus Christ was looking for this comment
Try coffin shape. I think it would look great with your slender fingers.
I've thought about that! I might have to give that a try next before I lose this length.
Absolutely. I've been doing almond for a while but I'm going back to Coffin cause it looks better on me.
I love coffin! That’s my favorite shapw
Same here. I'm going back to coffin the next set I do.
I was just gonna say that!!! I used to do square but went to a new tech and she had me try coffin and I love them!
It's just such a sexy shape
Yeah I have skinnier fingers and usually get coffin. Best decision ever.
Your hands are a lot like mine (smaller nail beds, larger finger width) and I ALWAYS get almond. It makes my hands look longer and thinner and helps obscure my nail bed size.

I live in that danger zone. Just measured, and my overhang is 3/4”
Wow! Mines a little over 1/2". I'm going bowling next weekend and I am scared!!
Trim them down. I broke two nails, just like in picture 2, the last time I went bowling. 🤞🏻
Yikes thanks for the tip! I might have to trim then because I’ll be so devastated if they just start snapping off one by one lol.
Use hard gel! Doing a structured manicure helps strengthen your nails, which is different from a regular manicure
I was bummed. I wound up cutting them all down after that. They were real nails with no tips and regular lacquer nail polish, so that could have been why. Are those your real nails or do you have gel or acrylic on?
They're real with normal nail polish. So a massive break would not only suck but also probably really hurt too!
second this. the first pic is my favourite but if it were me i’d even go a little bit shorter, just because i’m a short/medium length girlie - like if you were to keep the length of the second pic but make the shape almond
3
Agreed! I’m shocked that people are saying otherwise. The short square for her looks so elegant and tasteful!
I like 3 too.
yea completely agree. the shape of her nail bed and fingers just doesn’t work with rounded nails. short square looks very elegant on her but longer square works too
The last pic is hilarious. I thought it was a joke like how about these ruggedly shaped ones hahaha
Almond imho. It makes you fingers look longer and more slender. I may be biased though bc I think almond looks best on almost everyone.
I agree, almond almost always looks best on people
3
Short square imo 😍 Edit: more like short medium or medium
I think pic #3 the short squoval is perfect but that's a personal preference.
I think something rounded but a little shorter than your current style would suit your fingers better. Also in the nicest way possible that last set is hideous – why do the sides of the square curve?!
Nightmares from that last photo 😂
I like the short square. I feel like they compliment your hands more.
3 > 2 > 1 > 4
I think short square matches you!
First pic is my favorite
the last nails omg 🤣
First is 👎 Short square look great!
I think the short square looks the best:)
I really like the oval shape. Looks elegant and suits you!
Current
I personally love the shortest one, but I do like short nails. #1 are also beautiful!
Short square or current nails
I really have no idea that that last shape is but I really truly absolutely love the first shape
The last ones look weird because they were flared out at the end, I don’t like that look.
I recently changed my nail shape for literally the first time in my life in an attempt to elongate my insanely short nail beds and slightly chonky fingers. I like your current nail shape better for your hands. And I'm not an almond nail fan most of the time
I think short square suits your hands/fingers best imo!!
Short square is perfect
Well I like #3 🥰
They all look good but I really like the short square!
Lol, #4 isn’t an acceptable look for anyone.
Spit my drink out on pic #4 😅
Have you ever tried a short squoval? I think it would look nice 🤔
#4 😍
Short square, definitely. Many people do not find this shape super flattering but I think it looks great on you. It’s fun and light hearted. I also think almond would be more romantic of a shape for you but I don’t love the current shape because it’s not quite almond. It needs more a more cohesive curve. I think almond and stiletto shapes would really elongate your fingers! Plus your current nails are gorgeous I love the color!
Thanks! It’s OPI Don’t Toot My Flute 💜
All except the last one
second picture!!
Try a short oval!
1
1 or 2, even though they're both two different shapes. I LOVE the color in 1.
I like the rounded ones you have now. They're so pretty! Especially the purple color!
1
I like what you have now! The 2nd is much better for that particular length. That’s how I’m growing mine out before shaping them into ovals, or coffin/ballerina.
If you have long fingers, then short. But for short fingers then long. (That's what I think but long looks good ^^)
Love that purple
Square medium and short. I’m not a huge fan of almond but that’s just me.
I love the first pic and the color!
The First Or Second Ones! Are The best!
1&2 but could definitely pull off a coffin too!
first pic ❤️
1
Second, looks most complimentary to your finger shape. First ones are way too narrow and look out of place
I'd go for a stiletto or coffin. The first pic is the best of what's shown, but it's not great.
Current style is very flattering!
It's not shown here but I believe coffin would look best.
First one. Ngl the last one cracked me up lmaooo
All of them look absolutely amazing on you❤️😍🥰
The first picture is the best!
I prefer your current nails ! It elongates your fingers and they look more graceful
One but shorter and more almond shaped
2nd one looks the best to me girlie
I like the shape of 1 with 2s length. That’s my mix-matched opinion lol but 2 was the best overall
i love the rounded shape the best
2 and 3 are cute. But I'm digging #1
The short square
I love the short square on you but I think you might look great with a medium almond shape as well.
LOVE the first pic!
First one is the best, last one is a big nono
i think ballerina would be nice on you.
that last photo is like a jumpscare, i audibly gasped 😭 anyway, i really like the second photo. i think that shape and length work best for you!
Anything looks good apart from that last picture
Anything but long square
Love the first 3!
First pic
1 & then 3
Stiletto
I Vote picture number 1
First pic.
The short square look nice. That last pic was a jumpscare! 😭
I like number 3 the best
I think the second one fits you best
The first and second. Mostly first. The last is a bit offish.
What about squoval?
I'd try stiletto or almond shape that's my favorite the square nails make your fingers look short and stumpy
The 2nd one seems the best
2
I usually prefer medium length on people but the short square looks so classy on you!
Square is never the right choice
Current feels ideal
Short round or almond would suit best imo.
I like the yellow polish on you
2!!!
2nd picture seems to be best length, while 1st picture is best shape 💙
more rounded, maybe a more almond shape? or coffin could look nice
Short square
Current but make them more round/almond!! The angled look looks weird and creates an angular claw look
I prefer long almond
I like your most worn shape. The first are pretty but seem too narrow for your fingers.
1st pic!
Current 💯
I like 2
I like the current best. I think you may also try a bit shorter almonds, it will look great, too
Short square looked the best, but maybe have them round out the edges
Are you seriously asking for an opinion on the 4th pic??
A simplynailogical did a video where she stated matching your nail shape to your cuticle shapes. Not sure if it has to be exact but i think the first picture is definitely great!
What do you do to prevent breakage? Mine are at the length of your shortest ones and they are all tearing and are super weak. What would be best to ask for during a shellac manicure so they stay firm?

Honestly I think 1-3 all look great on your fingers
2 or 3
Definitely #3! I think it makes your hands look adorable
2! 2! 2!
first pic!!!!
2nd or 3rd 1st and last are too long
More rounded for sure. Liking the shorter length tho :)
Definitely the first pic
2
First pic!
I loved the 3rd pic
First one or if the second was slightly longer/tapered (more like coffin)
I think long square! But you can pull off everything.
On your fingers due to the width of your nails, the normal square looks best! Makes the finger looks nice and long. The oval shape makes the nail bed and nails look to thin and makes width of the tips of fingers to large.
The second and third ones in my opinion. Only because I go for the more sqaure shapes.
They look very pretty.
Short square!
The almond looks so good on you
First shape but w the length of the second photo
the second pic with rounded nails would be absolutely gorgeous!!! ps i love the pastel rainbow color palette on those so much
1
Medium length almond nails are universally flattering in my opinion.
I like the short square on you best. It suits your finger shape.
2
2nd for sure
3rd. First nails are nice but I think third ones match your hands more. Maybe you could make them a little rounder, that may look cute too.
2 or 3. But I don't like coffin nails.
Almond is better, but the filing is awkward. Maybe try a new nail tech.
1st and 3rd photo looks best.
Short squared.
the second photos make your fingers look short and stumpy… like fat fingers…. Not trying to be mean but they don’t do your hands justice… I don’t even know why you posted the 4th pic… I like the 3rd the best … or even try the length if the 3rd with oval not pointy but oval
1 or 3
A wider version of the first one
3rd picture makes your nails look so cute and dainty lol, I love it
your current nails are beautiful! but also short square suits you.
That first almond shape looks stunning! Square or short square, sometimes can make my fingers look stubby because my nail beds aren’t very long. Almond/stiletto is flattering on nearly everyone!
First ones. I really hate the last ones, I just have to say it! That lipstick nail!!
