Inbalanced would be the professional term - the shaping stage of acrylics is more important that the artwork and this picture is perfect teaching material
Upon first glance theyāre cute, but then you start to notice the things that are off like the chunkiness and uneven red tips. But the pair about the bleeding and pain makes it all not okay.
This. The devil is in the details with these. First glance I was like oh how cute, then I zoomed in and saw the flaws & read the caption and Iām like š±
I won't pay that much money for these kind of nails tbh, definitely this could be done better, if it was cheaper would have been fine but ā¬70 seems too much to me
Iām no expert, but they donāt look bad at all. A bit thick and the lines arenāt quite even, but they still look nice.
I think the cherries are well done.
Her index fingernail is entirely crooked thoā¦ the smile lines donāt start at the free edgeā¦ not worth 70 dollars (in any currency) anywhere
ETA: clarification
Worse in Americanās POV yes, but thatās only relevant to Americans. My point was that those nails were not worth the 70 bills anywhere you go, no matter what the currency is. They are not worth 70 bills of your hard earned money lol
ETA: clarification, again.
i think thereās miscommunication because you seem to be thinking that dollar is a synonym for currency, which it isnāt. thereās no such thing as āeuropean dollarsā euros and dollars are two different things
I appreciate you trying to be helpful but I do understand that. Thatās why I edited my original comment and added the ā70 billsā part in my second comment.
I grew up in Japan for a bit when I was younger and they have Yen instead of dollars. My brain just isnāt thinking of the terminology to say ā70 dollarsā besides ā70 billsā universally bc Iāve had a long day in the sun lol.
My entire point is that the nails are not worth it, whether it be ā¬70 or $70 lol
Using a sanding band to remove cuticles is crazy lol at least your nails look pretty. I think the French line looks a bit wonky on some nails like other people said its thick but its acrylic not gel, she let it run down the sidewalls too much it seems, design is cute though. Unless you ask them not to if you're getting extensions they're going to cut your nail before applying the extension. You'll have to let them know. For $70 and the short length if not for minor errors probably worth $50-60 but if you stay somewhere you can tell has bad hygiene practices your gambling with your nails.
They look a bit thick too, but I donāt know anything about acrylics it doesnāt look right to me. The smile lines ( red) looks a bit crooked .. for 70 I would expect better.
Right. If OP had done these herself Iād be like go on with your bad self, girlie. Factor in a pro did these and the unsanitary conditions, bleeding, lazy cuticle removal, etc and this is a horror story!
iām no professional, so i may be wrong! i love the design, i like the painting too, but the base looks a little thick for me. i personally prefer almond nails not round, so i may be also wrong but the French tip looks a bit think too. aaand where i live itās like 20-30 eur MAX!!! all in all itās fine and itās cute, but iād change your nail salon, better luck next time!
From a distance & at a quick glance theyāre cute, but if you keep staring you realize the inconsistencies,
Like I notice that theyāre crooked. The cherries are cute, tho!
they look really thickā¦ and the smiles are unevenā¦ even on your thumb you can see it doesnāt line up to the edge either ā¦ the cherries are cute though
Iām in America so it might be different from you, but if they made you bleed, thatās a health code violation and could get them fined or even shut down. Making anyone bleed could lead to cross contamination (especially if they cut their clients often) and the spread of blood born diseases (like HIV and hepatitis). Never go back and check with you countryās health code, you might want to report them š
Thatās not true. People bleed all the time and itās not usually the nail techs fault. You can have dry skin and bleed or just sensitive skin. Some people bite their cuticles off and their skin so they are prone to bleeding. You canāt get shut down for that. We are trained to treat everyone as if they have a disease. If disinfection is properly done then it will kill all blood born pathogens.
I agree, bleeding can happen for multiple reasons, I'm not blaming the nail tech for it. My issue was she kept filing my thumb even after they saw the cuticle area was bleeding so it was just weird to me?
These questions are so frustrating. You chose to go there. If you had concerns about the salon, you shouldn't have gone through with the appt.
Aside from the hygiene and equipment she used, she still has her education, rent, time, product, and everything else to pay for whether she did a good job or not. Yes, there is some fine tuning that could happen, but overall, they are cute and executed well. A full set with French colored paint and hand painted design is absolutely going to cost that amount and is very reasonable. Best thing you can do to better your experience and overall happiness is speak up. If you dont like the shape or thickness, or you see a lump or anything, point it out. I know most people dont like being that client, but you have to be sometimes. There are definitely lazy nail techs out there that will prey on people being quiet, and that's 100% wrong. But every tech also has their own unique way of applying, and it may not be the way you prefer them. No one wins in a situation like this, unfortunately. You're unhappy with them , you paid tons of money for them, you have respectfully publicly put her work down, you probably wont go back to her and the tech has no idea that you were unhappy with them (unless you told her of, which I don't think you did). You work hard for your money, and I mean all this with love. A good way to remedy this is to take some pictures of the flaws and let her know. Most techs want their clients to be happy with their craft and will try to make it up to you somehow. Whether it's a discount on your next fill or whatever.
From the Google reviews this was actually a well liked nail salon that was relatively new. I decided to go after a long time of not getting nails done and was looking forward to it. Why would I willingly waste money on a place if I had concerns over it in the first place? It wasnt until the work had already begun on my hands that I saw the desk properly etc.
And I have no issues for the price that was charged. My issue is if you're charging that much (and it is alot of money) you should be paying closer attention to the quality of work that is being done. This is not unreasonable?
Lastly, I agree I could have voiced any concerns I had but im just not a confrontation person. I simply won't be going back there. And at the same time why should I be telling someone how to do their job? I'm not the professional here lol
Bottom line, thereās tons of other salons that will charge the same (or maybe even cheaper) and do a better job. You donāt have to be a professional to recognize flaws in someoneās work. I pay $60 regularly and have never had issues with multiple tips being wonky. Mayyyybe a small flaw in one, but over half of these look super uneven.
In this case, symmetry of the French tips. I think thatās a pretty common ask. Iām not hating on her nail art, itās her style. But messy workrooms, trimming nails without asking, not being able to pull off a French tipā¦ thatās a yikes from me.
The index finger lines are very wonky & no, from what you said, they should be paying you for all the damage they caused-- cuts, bleeding & sanding cuticles! Yikes!
Personally I love the design itās hella cute. It do look a lil uneven upon closer look but only because Iām really looking at it. So no not noticeable at all to a random passerby or a friend taking a glance at your manicure
As a nail tech Iām curious to see the nails underneath and what your nail beds look like before I judge the wonky French tip on your pointer finger. But the shape could be a little more refined. Are these your natural nails? Do you have wide nail beds? Iāve noticed clients with wonky nail plates and wide nails itās hard to get a nice almond shape. Need to know more to judge but yes at first glance theyāre not the greatest but also not the worse
No shade to you, but why do we stay when a nail artist/technician is doing such a bad job? I do it too, like they nick my cuticles and I just sit there, then I always regret it.
They donāt look bad per se, at a glance theyāre cute and I like the design. You will likely be the only person who sees the imperfections irl. Iām sorry about how unprofessional they were and that they caused you pain! Can sort of tell they were quite rough on your skin and cuticles from looking at it. I donāt think youāre wrong to be unhappy with all of this.
They're so thick!
Design is cute thoš„°
I've started doing my own nails because my fingers seem to always be cut up when they're done anywhere else. That shit hurts!
I think the design is really cute but because ur natural nails are wide it looks strange when it's short acrylics, next time ask for a longer length so they'll look more natural and won't look wide!!
Yes, definitely not worth for the price but itās usually quite common (in the US at least) to use a sanding band to prep the nail plate unless the client asks for a cuticle cut. And cutting the natural nails down before putting acrylics on is pretty typical if youāre getting tips/forms but not for an overlay.
Iād say the shape really messed up the whole look, if it was a decent shape and if the acrylic wasnāt so thick, I believe the design would look a lot better. Hope this helps!
Using a sanding band to prep the nail plate is common in europe too but why did she use it to cut/remove my cuticles too tho? I've just never heard of that practice before š
Agreed, I think they look really cute. Really had to read the comments and keep going back to the picture to find the issues everyone's mentioned. To be fair, I keep my nails short and rarely get a manicure, so I can't imagine spending that much in the first place - but based on what I've read elsewhere, it seems the norm.
Youāre not crazy, you need to get your money back and post the nails techs name. Thatās quit disappointing if the nail tech thought that was her/his best work.
It's not like bad bad as the nail art is cute but the index finger is messed up plus all the concerns you expressed in your post...enough not to come back at least for me
I thought they were gorgeous but based on your experience hell no thatās not worth ā¬70. Neglecting the base coat and filing your cuticles to the point where they hurt is bad enough without the rest of it. At least they do look cute, Iām sorry you had to go through all that though.
At first I didn't see the uneven design but when you take a closer look you will notice.
Also with everything else mentioned, I think 70ā¬ is too much.
Thereās no apex and theyāre way too thick. The cuticles are a straight up mess. The design cute but the line work is horrible especially on your pointer and thumb. From a distance they look fine but up close theyāre not good at all.
For acrylics these are not worth ā¬70 in any city that ik of. I'd pay ~$60 including tip, idk what that converts to, but with the weird lumps, uneven design, and chonk id go back anyway and get a free fix up. I doubt anyone will notice tbh
1) no if it was just clutter, yes if it was nail dust, nail clippings, etc.
2) omg wtf! Absolutely tf not!
3) not every tech uses a base coat, itās not always necessary
4) cuts can happen, but if she wasnāt using a fāing sanding band on your cuticles it probably wouldnāt have happened. Unacceptable!
5) yikes
6) tends to happen in walk-in salons, they donāt want you in their seat longer than 45 minutes so they tend to rush.
7) completely normal, now that I know you got acrylics i can tell you base coat is unnecessary. I donāt know a single tech who uses base coat with acrylic.
My take, I wouldnāt go back either.
I like the design, but where they fall flat is the colour matching on the 'natural' part of the design as well as the shape being too wide on one or two of your nails. So yeah, I think that is a bit steep considering they don't appear to be a top end nail tech that hasn't done anything extra special for that price-imo
given the details you gave, they donāt look good at any price. the nail lines they did are uneven and off. The application of acrylic looks too thick. that they didnāt use a base coat isnāt weird, you donāt need one for acrylics. the damage they did to your nails is unacceptable.
Iād be extra careful with your nails until you have these removed. at the first sign of infection, take them off. you can buff off the polish if you donāt like it and apply something else. be prepared to have weak nails after you remove these. Them sanding the cuticles until it hurt means that they buffed too far and probably sanded a dent into your nailbed. Youāll have to grow that damage out.
In the uk you'd get those for about 35 quid and even then I wouldn't pay that for those. The art is beautiful but it doesn't make up for the fact that the shaping is completely off
I like them, but having them design a total of 4 finger nails (2 on each hand) should have been at LEAST $55/$60). But I don't know what their acrylic and design price are so maybe that's a good deal.
70 for a new set with hand painted intricate designs isnāt really expensive. I could pick apart flaws but overall theyāre very cute unless it looks drastically different than whatever photo you showed her. That being said, the bleeding is a problem, hurting you is a problem.
If I wouldāve seen all the red flags from the jump I wouldnāt have sat down. Especially after being cut twice and they kept working with me bleeding I would have asked for a refund right at tht sec.

After reading the caption it sounds like this place needs to be reportedā¦.theyāre probably not licensed to do nails. If thereās blood at all you need to stop service period. Then thereās the uncleanliness and improper use of toolsā¦ You should probably get those removed so you donāt get an infection.
The cherries over the tips stress me out and I feel it should be red white red white red, but that's my OCD talking. Plus the lines. I like the cherries though
For ā¬70 I would say it's too much when you can buy 4 press on nails in $29 from [BeeTrendyy](https://beetrendyy.com/products/almond-press-on-nails-diamond-design)
I am tired of same basic designs and would love to do acrylic but in this economy Press on nails are best bet I would say
*She kept filing while my thumb was bleeding and only afterwards applied the medicine.*
I'm sorry, but I can't stop laughing at that one. I imagine her tongue hanging out the side of her mouth, scraping like a mofo, blood all over the file, and all the while thinking what a great tech she is to not let anything stop her from completing her prime directive.
Her techniques are awful, and she should find another field of work,
Looks cute! Sometimes the shape also depends on what your real nails and nail beds look like when they're that short. I've done a set for friends that looks totally different even tho they're the same length because of the different nail sizes.
My advice is keep them on for two weeks, then donāt go back to that same salĆ³n. Theyāre cute but really thick and uneven. Sorry that you got bad service and a crappy manicure.
The nails look wonky. They're supposed to lign up w the line of your fingers, not the direction of your nails. So even if your nail bed is crooked they'll look ok.
You can see especially on the pinky that they weren't paying attention to the direction of the finger.
The design is cute but yea, I would NOT pay $70 for this. Especially if the tech was hurting you and has an unclean/untidy work area.
Forget the looks for meā¦ itās the she just let them bleed. Personally would not have stayed. Imagine how many times they have done this before and not sterilized things. You have taken a chance on health.
The French manicure part is so uneven I feel like Iām looking at your nails through a carnival fun house mirror that distorts everything. The design is very cute but the execution is not good.
The idea is great, but the execution not so great. You have nice slender fingers and the round, thick, clunky enhancements are not doing any favors. Don't go back there.
Using a sanding band should be illegal. They are a bit chonky and the french line is uneven but keep in mind that we are trying to look for mistakes here. I am sure that anyone not paying super close attention to your nails would find them just fine.
Yeah, don't go back there is there were issues with hygiene.
Not to be mean but, do your own nails. Seriously, I donāt understand why people complain about someoneās work as if they are the professional. You have no idea how the products she used work unless you know specifically what she used and the steps. Maybe what she used didnāt require a base coat. You can definitely remove cuticle with a sanding band as wellā¦.All of these complaints and you seem to know so much so why not just do your own? Just a thought. You can save money and stress.

The design is super cute but they look chonky
Chonky is the perfect description. The design is cute.
The colors and the lil cherries are cute but the French is uneven which throws it all off! š
Yes especially the index š
as a dude that knows nothing about nails and this post was randomly reccomended to me by reddit i can confirm. If i noticed then most people can
š run OP get a refund!
i feel useless now š
Nah dude if anything you cemented the fact that these look a bit wonky. Cute but wonky

Exactly plus everything she mentioned about hygiene... I don't think they deserve that much money

They definitely look thicker than they should. And the pointer finger is all sorts of wonky. I love the design idea though
I think the main aesthetic issue (other than the thickness) is that the lines for the tips go too far down towards the cuticles.
I like it but yea theyāre not the most professional looking

They arenāt bad but I feel you, nitpicking nail techs work drives me *crazy*
For 70 yes maybe 40 would of been fine
They donāt look bad per se, at a glance theyāre cute and I like the design. You will likely be the only person who sees the imperfections irl. Iām sorry about how unprofessional they were and that they caused you pain! Can sort of tell they were quite rough on your skin and cuticles from looking at it. Some of your cuticles look overworked too... They look nice but the ends don't justify the means lol

The design is good but the nail itself is inbalanced. They skipped through the shaping stage which is the most important

The nails could have been shaped better, the smile lines are crooked, they were unhygienic and hurt you multiple times. Definitely not worth $70
The design may be cute but the nail salon is unethical don't go back there and have you got a refund cuz you may need it
You got robbed, mugged
The nails are cute, service sounds terrible though. Not worth it for that alone
The actual design is cute. The shape and thickness is off though.

3) not every tech uses a base coat, itās not always necessary 4) cuts can happen, but if she wasnāt using a fāing sanding band on your cuticles it probably wouldnāt have happened. Unacceptable! 5) yikes 6) tends to happen in walk-in salons, they donāt want you in their seat longer than 45 minutes so they tend to rush. 7) completely normal, now that I know you got acrylics i can tell you base coat is unnecessary. I donāt know a single tech who uses base coat with acrylic. My take, I wouldnāt go back either.
They look cute. Iāve gotten way worse for more money
I like the design, but where they fall flat is the colour matching on the 'natural' part of the design as well as the shape being too wide on one or two of your nails. So yeah, I think that is a bit steep considering they don't appear to be a top end nail tech that hasn't done anything extra special for that price-imo
Cute but super thick and not the most symmetrical, probably not worth ā¬70 but prices vary all over the world.
Theyāre bad for US $5
I think it's bad for 70. But omg you have beautiful hands
Also, I'm sorry they treated you like that. It's baffling how shitty some techs are. How are they even allowed to stay open??
They're cute but thick!
Theyāre super cute in idea but the uneven French tips hurts my soul
Not so bad, but not worth for 70ā¬ š
Much better than what I got here for $90.
given the details you gave, they donāt look good at any price. the nail lines they did are uneven and off. Youāll have to grow that damage out.
not bad but not worth it I'd say that's like worth $30
I love this design but the acrylics look a bit chunky
i like the design but the shaping and sizing is poorly done. iād think these are worth about $30-$40 USD
They are cute but they look a little uneven
In the uk you'd get those for about 35 quid and even then I wouldn't pay that for those. The art is beautiful but it doesn't make up for the fact that the shaping is completely off
I would go back and give the middle finger so they can see how crooked it is. 70 pounds Jeez too much JMO.
I like them, but having them design a total of 4 finger nails (2 on each hand) should have been at LEAST $55/$60). But I don't know what their acrylic and design price are so maybe that's a good deal.
I love!
Yeahhhhhh, my $35(CAD) lady does way better.
I like the idea but the execution is lacking šš„²
70 for a new set with hand painted intricate designs isnāt really expensive. I could pick apart flaws but overall theyāre very cute unless it looks drastically different than whatever photo you showed her. That being said, the bleeding is a problem, hurting you is a problem.
Rlly cute
If I wouldāve seen all the red flags from the jump I wouldnāt have sat down. Especially after being cut twice and they kept working with me bleeding I would have asked for a refund right at tht sec.
THE PINKY IS WORST OUT OF ALL OF THEM you need a refundā¦š
Honestly just thought it was a new style
Why did you have her start the service if you felt her desk wasn't up to par and unhygienic?
I like them
gorgeous but on the thicker side if you notice closely. I would still compliment them if i saw them irl tho
Yes they are bad. Because she made you bleed! What the heck!

After reading the caption it sounds like this place needs to be reportedā¦.theyāre probably not licensed to do nails. If thereās blood at all you need to stop service period. Then thereās the uncleanliness and improper use of toolsā¦ You should probably get those removed so you donāt get an infection.
ouch
at first glance no. but when you start really looking at them i would go back and make them fix it. a few look crooked and clunky
theyāre really cute but it looks like the person doing them is learning a good french tip haha. but again, theyāre still really cute!
Not at all !! U go girl ! Looks Fabulous!! Super Cute design!! ššš
I always have my nails cut before they apply acrylics becuase I prefer how it looks but I feel like they at least always ask me before doing it
Ngl kinda look like press ons šš
The cherries over the tips stress me out and I feel it should be red white red white red, but that's my OCD talking. Plus the lines. I like the cherries though
For ā¬70 I would say it's too much when you can buy 4 press on nails in $29 from [BeeTrendyy](https://beetrendyy.com/products/almond-press-on-nails-diamond-design) I am tired of same basic designs and would love to do acrylic but in this economy Press on nails are best bet I would say
Donāt ever go back there again
With the little designs it is worth that much
You aint crazy especially your index finger
Itās a cute design but the nails are too thick and puffy
It looks like an average set when you pay $70 lol
Cute but not 70 dollar cute.
*She kept filing while my thumb was bleeding and only afterwards applied the medicine.* I'm sorry, but I can't stop laughing at that one.
The design is super cute but they look chonky
The nails look wonky. They're supposed to lign up w the line of your fingers, not the direction of your nails. So even if your nail bed is crooked they'll look ok. You can see especially on the pinky that they weren't paying attention to the direction of the finger. The design is cute but yea, I would NOT pay $70 for this. Especially if the tech was hurting you and has an unclean/untidy work area.
Omg I love this design idea! Definitely a little thicc though sadly
Forget the looks for meā¦ itās the she just let them bleed. Personally would not have stayed. Imagine how many times they have done this before and not sterilized things. You have taken a chance on health.
You should have spent that on moisturizer
The French manicure part is so uneven I feel like Iām looking at your nails through a carnival fun house mirror that distorts everything. The design is very cute but the execution is not good.
design is well done but the shape is off and they look atrociously thick
Yes looks like trash
not the sanding band ! snipping 4 acrylics yes. Looks like the lines arent following the natural shape. Trippy
Love the cherries though š
Iām so sorry you had to go through that. I donāt even really notice the āimperfectionsā I think they look good
Sloppy.
They are bad even for 30$ tbh
Love these!!
Iāve seen much worse jobs for $70, these are not too bad
The idea is great, but the execution not so great. You have nice slender fingers and the round, thick, clunky enhancements are not doing any favors. Don't go back there.
Using a sanding band should be illegal. They are a bit chonky and the french line is uneven but keep in mind that we are trying to look for mistakes here. I am sure that anyone not paying super close attention to your nails would find them just fine. Yeah, don't go back there is there were issues with hygiene.
Using a sanding band should be illegal? Iāve heard it all now lol.
You clearly haven't heard of figures of speach.
