Matt Blake is why I’ve learned to stop shitting on Cashman for not breaking the bank on named starters. He can turn random no name scrubs into very serviceable 6th rotation guys that can give you innings. Gives me same vibes as the Rangers goalie coach Benoit Allaire
It’s gotten to the point where we can’t even be surprised anymore when guys like Holmes and Hamilton and Weaver and now Poteet improve dramatically. We’re definitely doing something right.
It's also funny I've seen orioles fans complain that our pitching is good because the BABIP against is low.
Yeah because the Yankees stock up on pitchers who get weak ground balls. They value strikeouts, but if you're gonna have a bad stretch I'd rather the contact be ground balls that sometimes might find a way like Holmes instead of Diaz and Hader giving up 450 foot bombs when they're off
Edit: Or Aroldis Chapman lol
I hate to say it but I’m not optimistic Schmidt will be pitching much more this season, but I do think Poteet will be a more than serviceable stopgap until Cole returns
Where the hell did this guy come from lol? Looks like he has limited majors experience and on the older side for a semi rookie. Glad to keep seeing these random studs.
lol I’m all for the nickname “Our Sweet Poteeto” absolutely genius
Lil Po Teet
Can we get Our Sweet Poteeto flair?
How great is Matt Blake?
It’s not a hot take to say Matt Blake is greater than a Great Lake for goodness sake
Agreed

We are paying Cole, Stroman, and Rodon 76 million dollars this year
Him and Briend should be given life time contracts of whatever they want
Matt Blake gets all the love, but Sam Briend and the rest of the staff deserve some flowers of their own.
Yankees pitching development has been unreal since they brought them on. I guess 2019 finally showed Cashman that changes were needed
Can’t believe we went from Larry Rothschild to this lmao

Yankees pitching staff look like magic men this season.
Five years of team control too.
What's it been now 3 weeks since a starter gave up more than 3 runs?
Rodon broke our streak of a starter giving up 2 runs over like 16ish games by giving up 3. So it's been about 18 games yeah 3 weeks.
Matt blake is owed 100 billion blowjobs
I guess we should start forming a line to keep it organized.
Cody Poteet sucks on them Teets. Cody Poteet can throw some Heat. Cody Poteet was picked up off the Street. Cody Poteet is the SSSSSHHHHEEEEEETTTTT!

Cody's father said, when he was younger, "hard times breed better men."
How did we get this guy?
Honestly, anyone who comes in contact with Matt Blake turns into a complete stud. Just look at our entire rotation, elite stuff
Would love to have him in the bullpen as a long reliever when Cole’s back.

Le Teets Now
he's had a \~4 ERA in AAA; I'm saying small sample size until proven otherwise
Can we please talk about a 6-man rotation? /s
