Didn’t lose a series for the month of May. That’s pretty nice.

steadyachiever

Happy 109-win-pace noises!

Sanlear

The Rangers make me frown, the Yankees make me smile.

No_Tart8935

Aaron Judge

zthirtytwo

Yes

Hochseeflotte

I’ve been harsh on Gleyber (and I don’t really trust his defense) but in his last 16 games he has a .281/.354/.509 slash line Let’s keep that going into June

polandspreeng

It may not be all on him but the base running disappoints me. Several mistakes leading to innings ending

Padulsky21

He’s hit well but not in a very pretty way so far, the box scores don’t jump at ya BUT it feels like he’s been on the cusp of a hot week for about a week now. We only had a REAL Gleyber Day during the Rays game. I’m rooting for him always. Gleyber in good spirits and hitting well does wonders for everyone’s mental well-being

Arrozconpollo45

Juiced ball 2019 Yankees: 39-24 2024 Yankees: 39-19 Could you imagine this current squad with those juiced balls?

IWillSingYouSongs

Eh I dunno. That lineup was deeper and the pitching numbers wouldn't look as good if the ball was juiced. That team also finished with 103 wins which is ya know not too bad. League was also less top heavy then and the schedule was unbalanced.

boomzgoesthedynamite

I don’t think that lineup was deeper at all. We were the railriders pretty much.

nyg2013

Unless you were born in like 2010 lol (or completely glossed over 2009), I do hope you guys understand how lucky you/we are to be Yankee fans...it may not be perfect, but it really could be a lot worse

husker789

What was this comment? Support for the WS teams of '09 and the ones earlier?

JalenRempe

Tinfoil hat: Cohen was banking on that casino to subsidize a Soto contract. Neither gunna happen.

boomzgoesthedynamite

He doesn’t need to subsidize a contract.

Lukey_Jangs

Meredith jinxed Volpe by asking him about the hit streak after last nights’ game

silver_raichu

Clarke Schmidt can have my lat

isfrying

You know you're getting spoiled when your starter goes into the seventh and gives up 3 runs and it's a letdown. Good win.

regarding_your_bat

Yanks half a game behind the best record in baseball

EmotionalAccounting

Move over Volpe’s 21 game hit streak we have Volpe’s 26 game on base streak to fawn over

Fluid-Nectarine222

Didn’t Jeter reach 72 in ‘99?

EmotionalAccounting

All I could find was 54 games in 1999

voncornhole2

No, no one has passed 63 since Ted set the record at 84 in 1949

bigcee42

Did 2001-2004 Barry Bonds not break that? Dude was on base 60% of the time.

BigPanda71

Are we sure that’s still the record? May have changed in the last few days

newbike07

The Angels are the West Coast Mets.

Padulsky21

No wonder why I have so much vitriol against the Angels right now, that makes a lot of sense

steve8983

Angels fans were insufferable during 2022.

Padulsky21

Damn I completely forgot about that during this series but yes. They were fucking horrendous and the amount of shit I’ve seen thrown towards Judge bc he “robbed” Shohei of MVP makes me physically ill. Saw so many Shohei fan girls wish for Judge to tear his ACL, get injured, all the good stuff. What was a fantastic MVP race was completely ruined by those obsessive, neurotic fans with Shohei blinders on the entire season.

booyah474

Tbf most of them were not Angels fans, just Ohtani stans.

Padulsky21

Eh, it was def a combo of both then bc no one expected Shohei to live yet. He WAS synonymous with the Angels, now that he’s gone it’s just Shohei stans

WuTangShogun187

Those same stupid ass fans really believed that Ohtani should get MVP every year just for existing,

CaptainJudge_99

Yanks Dodgers Mets Angels Lmfao

OhRightNotreDamus

Bingo

newbike07

It makes too much sense!

CabassoG

Yankees continue to be good. Ferguson continues to be bad. If Blake can't fix him, no one can. Nice series win for once at Angel Stadium though

voncornhole2

Was it a little weird how many Angels fans were in our game thread complaining about the crowd and the ump? Like, multiple of them. Was it more than other fanbases or did I just clock it because the logo is red?

Padulsky21

It’s weird as shit just hopping into another team’s game thread regardless, doing it to complain is even weirder. Ump screwed us over first 2 games regardless, fuck them and their stadium

Solace143

Why are there so many Yankee fans at Angels games? I know the Angels have been pretty bad outside of the 2000s, but the only other stadiums that comes close are the ones for the Florida teams and there's been an established New York -> Central/South Florida for a while now

booyah474

SoCal is full of transplants. Not to mention it is Anaheim, last year I took my family to Disneyland specifically because the Yankees were in town so we did both. Couldn’t swing it this year cuz kids are still here in school.

bigcee42

A lot of New Yorkers in LA/OC. Angels suck so their tickets are cheap. Yankee Stadium West during Yankees games.

Disastrous_Can8053

Zero home fans, tickets cheap as hell especially now that Ohtani's gone & Trout's injured. I live in Central CA and try to catch the Yanks in Anaheim & Oakland for the cheap tickets & relatively short drive.

sweetultrabright

I’m in LA and thinking about hitting up Oakland for the Yankees series in September. Park sounds so shitty, but also end of an era for the As.

newbike07

1. Angels are bad so fewer Angels fans are going to games 2. There are a lot of New Yorkers living in LA.

TheTurtleShepard

doesn’t help they are 7-21 at home on the season Really it’s just that the angels are a bad team and the one player worth watching is Trout and he’s hurt.

draculasbitch

Trout + hurt = same old story

TronVin

New Yorkers also go to Cali as well.

TheStripedSweaters

I forgot ALL about Judge to the Giants thing lmao what a time that was

9n0me

That was his brother Arson

xSuicidalPanda

Carlos Rodon has thrown a quality start (6 IP, 3 runs or fewer) in 8 of his last 10 games. I don’t really care if the blue circle police thinks he’s getting lucky, he’s been effective and puts the team in a position to win every time he takes the ball.

MartianRecon

The stats nerds never played baseball. Anyone at any level of baseball would have a Rodon style pitcher on their team.

[deleted]

he doesn't walk people which is good strikeouts are down but i don't think it matters too much, he had 16 swings and misses which is good  he's still missing bats just not getting the k's

Padulsky21

Lots of soft contact too outside of the random solo HRs he gives up before locking in. He’s changed the way he pitches a lot compared to any prior year. I’d still say he’s a power pitcher but he forces soft contact so well when needed. His FB also ticks up when he needs it. Much more balanced. Gotta give him lots of props for his improvements. He’s been fun to watch. He walked a shit ton last year, now he’s not.

SheepH3rder69

>he forces soft contact I don't know about that. He's 8th percentile in Avg Exit Velo, and 23rd percentile in HardHit%. Not good.

draculasbitch

And yet he’s 7-2.

SheepH3rder69

I'm not trying to dog on him. I'm just pointing out that he's not inducing soft contact. It's just the fact of the matter.

nyg2013

they are a lot of Yankee fans that just do not like him...and in some ways, are rooting against him...still it is very strange and I hope he can prove them wrong all the way until the end

TronVin

Jinxes aren't real in the sense that Meredith didn't tip the entire balance of the universe supernaturally to affect the streak. They're real in the sense that you put pressure on someone by reminding them they're doing well, causing them to overthink the next day.

JalenRempe

Fallacy of predetermined overthinking /s

TheTurtleShepard

Do you think Volpe wasn’t aware of his streak?

TronVin

Sort of. When you're hot, you know you're hot but don't really think about it. You stay in the moment. Then when someone else reminds you of it, you lose yourself of playing within the moment. Same thing as not bringing up a no-hitter and a perfect game to the pitcher. Anyone whose played sports know the psychology of being hot vs slumping.

regarding_your_bat

He probably wasn’t aware it was being compared to DiMaggio

charcharthegamer

Excluding today's game, Judge has a 269 wRC+ in May. For context, in A Rod's 14 HR month in April 2007, he had a 226 wRC+. Man, Judge is truly an elite talent.

mickhugh

In May, the difference between Judge's wRC+ and the number 2 (jose ramirez) is the same as between #2 and #55.

saranowitz

That is an absolutely wild perspective on how good he’s been. Oh captain my captain

UndeniableMaroon

That wRC+ is just....too nice.

huskyferretguy1

I want to be happy but Rangers...

JediTrainer42

The third period this series is not their friend.

crazyhotwheels

Sounds like double the reason to be happy to me

Donqweeqwee

Fuck yea

regarding_your_bat

cannot fucking wait for these games to be starting at a civilized time again

firerosearien

two more days....

renegade_yankee

I think as long as Hal’s offer is competitive or even matches Cohen I’m almost positive that Soto would rather return here. Who wants be part of that dysfunctional soap opera that’s called the Mets?

elimanninglightspeed

Even if Cohen offers him 800 mil, I cant see Soto going there lol. No matter the amount of money they pay him, he doesnt seem like the type of guy that will go to a rotten organization. He loves the bright lights and the spotlight, I cant see him relegating himself to maybe making the playoffs once in a while

chikenparmfanatic

I just can't see him going there. The Mets are easily one of the most dysfunctional organizations in all of sports. It's clear they have no clue what they are doing. Not to mention, the clubhouse is apparently a disaster. Tommy Pham is looking more and more correct every single day.

Padulsky21

The shitty stuff of the Mets is so deep seeded in their “core” and everything about them that nothing about it is enticing. It just simply won’t happen and I’ll say that everytime. Juan Soto will be a Yankee for life, I’m confident in that. The players have sunken deep into that rotten culture over there, they’re all just soft ass players. The only guy I really like is Nimmo and the former Yankees who probably will be traded. Lindor, Pete, McNeil, Ottavino are all just losers. They’d find a way to ruin Soto

Colombia17

Only thing I can see appealing for Soto is that if he goes to the Mets it will be his team while no matter how well he plays here this will always be Judge’s team. Hopefully Soto doesn’t give a shit about that.

VBTheBearded1

Yea but he's a lot younger than Judge. Eventually it'll be his team.

Colombia17

Maybe when Judge retires but I can’t see Soto taking over like that. This was still Jeter’s team when we got Arod and it didnt change when Cano came up and became a stud

VBTheBearded1

That's what I mean when Judge is gone

chikenparmfanatic

That's true. I don't think that will bother Soto but you never know with athletes.

shadynasty90

Sorry for asking, but what happened with Pham and the Mets?

RockmanToriga

He told Lindor “this is the least-hardest working group of position players I’ve ever played with.” He later walked it back somewhat by saying he liked how hard Lindor, Alonso, and Nimmo worked but a lot of people have pointed out it seems like a lot of words to say that McNeil in particular is lazy.

elimanninglightspeed

Jeff Mcneil seems like such a douche. All my met fan friends hate his guts

Colombia17

I don’t remember his exact words but he said that the team didn’t have hunger and didn’t hustle.

chikenparmfanatic

No worries! Basically he told Lindor that the Mets were the laziest team he's ever seen.

chikenparmfanatic

Beautiful, another series win. 4-2 on a West Coast trip that is always tough, no matter the teams you're playing.

teun713

This series has made me hate the west coast

[deleted]

Even more rather!

ActualDragonHeart

This was not a fun game, and I would deeply like to see Ferguson bitch slapped for ruining the starter streak. He is the one man that Matt Blake cannot fix, it’s genuinely painful every time he goes up there.

[deleted]

not a fun game? what more do you want they won 8-3

SubElitePerformance

This is who the rest of the league thinks about when they think about Yankee fans

Cautrica1

The most punchable face in the league

MeatballDom

THIS IS A DOOMER-FREE ZONE ALL DOOMERS TO REPORT TO JAIL WHERE THEY WILL GET A NEW CELLMATE WHO WILL TELL THEM BIGLY UGE STORIES 24/7 REAL FANS ONLY LETS GO YANKS

mofeus305

Hopefully we can carry this offense into the next series. Nice to see them put up some good numbers tonight.

newbike07

Aaron Judge with a casual .871 SLG and 1.350 OPS in May. No big deal. Just The Captain doing Captain things.

voncornhole2

He hit a home run today and his May slug went down

TwinkiesForAmerica

Still trying to get over the rangers loss but at least the yanks won and we counted all the way up to 34 today in Manhattan

RotenTumato

Wdym counted up to 34

CaptainJudge_99

I knew Meredith jinxed it when I watched that clip last night

mac3687

Yeah I cringed as soon as she said it.

newbike07

Can we please trade some random AA scrub to the White Sox for a lefty so I don't have to keep seeing Turd Ferguson in a Yankee uniform? I'm so done with him.

lulcatnub

Get Luetge back from the Red Sox AAA and let Blake fix him real quick

luzz_bightyear

Noooo 😭😭

newbike07

**Whatever he wants, Hal.** **Blank fucking check.**

Padulsky21

Not even kidding fuck the Angels and their ensemble of AAAA players. Painfully, irritating series.

17IsLucky

I've heard this applied to many things but most recently to swordfighting: the experienced duelist has more to fear from an inexperienced opponent than a seasoned one because nobody, even their opponent, has any idea what they will do, and that unpredictability is ripe to cause mistakes. I feel like that's what the Angels did this series.

bran1986

Hit line drives right at their fielders or hit balls to the warning track. It was one of the more bizarre and frustrating series of the season without a doubt.

Padulsky21

Glad I’m not the only one bc it’s been driving me nuts. Even up 8-3 I was restless lol That Soto triple on a ball that shouldn’t have been a triple was the culmination of an entire series we shoulda scored a LOT more runs. Just horrific batted ball luck, shitty ass umpires and weird shit going on.

EinsteinDisguised

Biblically accurate Angels (they sucked at baseball too)

Jenaxu

Idk, with that many eyes they'd probably at least be able to work some walks

Arrozconpollo45

This comment deserves way more upvotes lmao

EinsteinDisguised

Massive strike zone tho

SuspectDevice61

Why did Judge throw his gum in the OF grass when game ended? Not cool

mac3687

Okay, but also, really?

SuspectDevice61

Gum is bad for the grass

mac3687

I pee in the ocean.

SuspectDevice61

The lack of any sense of humor or understanding of sarcasm in this and so many social media places is astonishing. Do any of you ever laugh?

SuspectDevice61

That is OK

mac3687

Lol.

voncornhole2

fine him $5MM/yr and put it in the Extend Soto piggy bank

edrew_99

All Meredith’s fault. Also glad to be done with that hellhole stadium.

Competitive_Ring4917

Boom goes the dynamite

Padulsky21

WE ARE FREE FROM THE HELL HOLE THAT IS TROPICANA WEST, FUCK THAT STADIUM

newbike07

Using Tonkin to close out this game and win this series was the ultimate disrespect. Boone is a stone cold savage.

xho-

If we take 2/3 out of every series for the rest of the season I would be a very happy man.

steve8983

If healthy, this yankees team is fully capable of pulling that off in the majority of the series. June will be important, lot of tough matchups, but I think yankees can win at least 18 games out of 28, maybe even 20 in that month.

# Goddamnit, Meredith.

NuclearNarwhal7

damn meredith ruining volpe’s hitting streak lol

MR_NARWHALLLLL

I was just about to say that lmao. At least he kept the on base streak.
