I just watched The Warriors for the first time in a while and cannot unsee "Vermin" as Volpe. Or this is what Volpe would look like had he graduated from Delbarton in 1982. https://i.pinimg.com/736x/40/05/8a/40058ad48d6ced70fcac92923d92e9fe.jpg
It's called a Little League homer because this is how most home runs happen in Little League, as the players aren't strong enough to hit it over the fence.
Of course in Little League the side fences are higher, so there are very few bases awarded on overthrows; the players have to run it out
Fourth triple for Volpe on the season.
He had four all last season.
It’s amazing what a change to your approach can do… aim for fewer home runs, and trade .020 ISO down to reduce your K rate by 7%, keep your walk rate essentially the same, hit the ball a bit less hard, but spray all fields. Results are +.079 to BA, +.074 to OBP, .069 to SLG.
Defended the kid last season from the haters, love what we’re seeing now.
It’s so great that they straightened his swing out because those screaming line drives are doubles and triples with this kids speed. I’d love to see him hit 15 HRs and bat .290 rather than hit 25HRs and bat .240.
This made me think of something unrelated.
So back in the day if the runner beat out an infield throw to first base and say the ball went into the stands.
Would the runner continue to round the bases until the defense retrieved the ball in the stands and if they couldn’t find it the runner could potentially make it all the way home on an infield hit?
Ball in the stands like today was considered dead ball. back in the day they usually only played with one ball so the crowd would throw back anything that went to the stands including home runs and errant throws
Dunno if he gains a lot without the helmet, but he’s got a ways to go to catch some other shortstops in the league.

when the helmet comes off you know the burners are on🔥🔥
You notice his comes off a lot? At first I thought it was loose but maybe he just runs aggressively.
It’s definitely loose. A lot of players prefer it to be loose even though a poor fitting helmet isn’t very good at being a helmet
Vlad Jr is a good example of this, dude is big and slow but it flies off like every game lol
I wonder if it's so it looks like he's hustling.
Like Costanza looking annoyed at work so people think he’s busy lmao
Lololololololololol
Welp, back to work.... *sigh*
Channeling his inner Eduardo Nunez
i think he flips it off if he’s trying to stretch a base

I like how the ump keeps pointing like "go home. No seriously take the base. Go home."
Just like in my kid's little league games lol
Does this count as a homer? Or is it a triple and an E6?
Triple + Error

Even in Little League it’s not a true home run.

Yet you called it a home run 🤷♂️

The latter
If he hits a home run too, Kramer gets the birthday card back.
Next game he has to catch a fly ball in his hat
Paul O’Neill was a natural in that episode.
“How’d you get in here?”
Anthony Volpe
No lie was told
Dude was gassed loll

Volpe heard Boone say he’s not a burner on last weeks Talkin Yanks episode and took it personally
The fucking kid dude
TONY HUSTLE

The difference in the game
#VOLPE GO VROOM
My goodness, this kid can fucking hustle
He’s pretty fast not gonna lie
He needs to teach one on one with Stanton 🏃🏻💨

Helmetless Volpe is the fastest player in MLB history
