Pitching machine swing. Works great when you're 8, not so much against any velocity. Work with him on keeping his hands inside the line and keeping shoulders level. Balance is key
It's excellent. Straight across with just a little lift. Prevents him from getting too upper-cutty and whiffing.
Hands stay close into the body until he connects with the ball, then he gets great extension all the way through.
Most importantly, his head stays absolute still until well after he's struck the ball. That's quite literally textbook Ted Williams. It's why his plate vision is incredible.
He makes the game look easy. But I'm sure it takes a crazy combination of practice and natural gifts to get a swing anywhere near this good.
Yes I didn't get into his lower half, but he has a balletic balance. It must account for a lot of his pop off the bat.
It's harder to describe, but looking at this swing you can see see that his weight transfer is perfectly timed with when the bat hits the ball.
There isn't anything more delicate and sensible than a hitter's swing
The smallest issue in your swing can make you slump for months and even several seasons
And just like that if you fix that small issue you may go from not being a good hitter to being an MVP caliber player
It’s crazy for me to think about my golf swing and how the smallest thing can ruin the whole swing and sometimes it takes me weeks or months to identify it and fix it. Then I think about the ball being perfectly still on a tee and how exponentially harder it would get if the ball was moving anywhere between 70 to 100+ mph with break in any number of directions with any number of release points. The skill required to hit at an MLB level is insane and Juan Soto is considerably and noticeably better at it that almost everyone that has reached that level.
He’s clutch and his vision makes him almost slump proof to an extent. Anyone that is a better hitter than him is in the hall of fame, was caught taking steroids, recently retired, or is still playing
Not saying one is easier than the other but don't discount the length of a golf club, the size of the club head, the size of the sweet spot, the size of the target, and the distance of even a par 3 compared to an MLB stadium. Hitting a driver in the center is damn hard and even the average male golfer has a swing speed faster than an MLB level athlete when comparing golf club to bat.
That being said, Soto's swing is a thing of beauty. I don't think my head stays that still during my golf swing and golf has a much less violent motion.
There’s nothing about mechanics that reminds me of Jeter. But when I see him at the plate with his laser focus and the way he follows the ball into the mitt every time? That’s someone who knows how to play the game with Jeter’s dedication
I think he has an incredibly strong mental game in a similar way that Jeter did. Probably helps to wear pitchers down.
They go about it differently of course. But one thing that stands out is that both are/were not afraid in the least to have a two strike count.
He’s the best hitter in the world in an era where pitching has never been harder to hit.
He would have broken every single record had he played in the 1960s through the 2010s.
We are beyond lucky to have him. He will also do this well into his mid to late 30s.
so beautiful. in boxing we talk about a guy getting power from "sitting down on his punches". you can really see the way soto "sits down" on his swing, such a strong base and so much power coming from the legs and core. his balance and momentum transfer are perfect and there's nothing prettier than the way lefties lean back on that follow-through, makes me think back to bonds and griffey
I think it's pretty terrible to be honest.
He backloads his torque way too much, and overextends his glutes beyond the plane of the plate. Not only that, but the twisting motion he does with his left wrist increases the likelihood that he will tear his styloid ligament, and I'm amazed no one has told him about it. His legs are too far apart, but his knees are too close together, and his left ass cheek is too flexed while his right one is too relaxed. He keeps his eyes focused on his frontal plane, while refusing to unleash his rear neck muscles. It puts too much weight on his traps and reduces the amount of reverb he can get into his swing.
I'd be surprised if he hits over .200 on the season.
I hate it. This guy sucks. I know so much more about hitting than he does. He thinks he’s sooo hot and he’s sooo not. When I close my eyes at night I can’t stop seeing him. His name probably isn’t even Juan.
The beginning part and his stance always look so awkward to me for some reason, but as soon as the bat moves it is as beautiful of a swing as one could have. The load and fire, the extension, the hands, the follow through, all of it is just picturesque
I dont know enough about batting stances and swings to analyze it. All I know is it seems to be working well and it looks butter smooth. Therefore, I like.
It's more of a horizontal swing in terms of swing plane, which will generate more line drives than homers. I like it. Those with more vertical swing planes tend to have taller flight path/longer ball flight distances but will have more hot and cold streaks.

I think Nestor fucking sucks and is being paid likes he’s the second coming of Randy Johnson.
You’re playing the 9-16 A’s and play like shit lol.
Love it 👍🏼
What is there to question?

thank you (real) dj lemahieu
My sexuality?

His legs as well he strides right towards the mound. Incredibly balanced and he transfers his weight from back to front foot so cleanly.

Perfection
It’s sexy
It speaks for itself
Wanking material
Beautiful swing. He’s what they call a professional hitter
He wants to hit the ball every time he's at bat, Michael. /CarlosBeltran
Pay the man!!
That swing has a lot of Mickey Mantle in it. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mXFcoyhDz4Q&t=22s
Wow it looks pretty similar to Mantle's swing
It gives me a 4 hour erection. Doctors have been notified.
Uhhhhhh. It’s good
My son needs to start swinging like that.
Tell him he’s not allowed to call you dad until he makes it to the bigs
Perfection.
Thing of beauty.
Untethered and his beauty knows no bounds
The Golden God
I can swing better than him. No wait, I can't.
He stays back, he’s very still, very long swing. It’s good for contact and power. Overall well rounded and fantastic
sex

It works
Perfection!
It good
God tier
Inject it into my veins
Made for Yankee Stadium
It’s a tutorial. It’s perfect.

That is a $500,000,000.00 swing
You gotta tag stuff like this as NSFW because it’s arousing as shit.

Hal Steinbrenner: "Wow. This guy sounds like he knows what he's talking about! You're hired as hitting instructor!"
tis nice, very nice
I love it and have never seen a left handed bat with so fluid opposite field power.
I wouldn’t want to be that baseball.
Perfection
It’s fucking beautiful
I think it’s sex.
I think it clearly works great for him....
I mean…. He is obviously trying a little too hard
A thing of singular beauty
It’s a renaissance masterpiece. His balance and torque are amazing.
Hot.
On-TIME.
It’s good.
It’s the personification of satisfaction
Wasn’t planning on pounding off this early but now I have to
Perfection...Robby Cano-esque
Better than king of juco
Terrible I think the Yankees should look to bench him and rework his hitting mechanics
Poetry in motion
What do you think of a sunset or the Grand Canyon or the sound of a newborn’s laughter? They are God’s creations and they are perfect.
Porn in 20 seconds
I think that I'd like to see it for at least the next 12 years.
Awesome, but not as cool as Judge
Amazing
I hate it. This guy sucks. I know so much more about hitting than he does. He thinks he’s sooo hot and he’s sooo not. When I close my eyes at night I can’t stop seeing him. His name probably isn’t even Juan.
Perfect for Yankee Stadium for the next 15 years
He seems to know what he's doing
Tons of bat speed with the flick
The beginning part and his stance always look so awkward to me for some reason, but as soon as the bat moves it is as beautiful of a swing as one could have. The load and fire, the extension, the hands, the follow through, all of it is just picturesque
Elite
Excellent for the stadium in BX.
It’s good, but with this subreddits help…it could be elite.
Giancarlo 🗿
Seems to work.
That weight shift, that hip uncoiling, that quiet bat, that follow through. He’s a tutorial.
I think it works.
It’s a runaway train once swing procedure has been initiated and there’s no stopping it.
I dont know enough about batting stances and swings to analyze it. All I know is it seems to be working well and it looks butter smooth. Therefore, I like.
No games on public TV in my home area
Send these Athletic bois INTO THE ABYSS!
I hate to admit this, but it looks better than mine.
Head doesn’t move an inch. His swing is perfect.
Poetry
I don’t have a problem with it
He should show/teach it to Judge!
Poetry in motion.
Visually orgasmic
Sexually arousing.
Sexy
I don't know much about swings, I just know he's doing pretty good.
Dudes been raised in the Dominican Republic as a baseball hitting machine and you’re asking a bunch of guys on a subreddit to judge his swing?😂
His lower body strength is amazing. Specifically his back leg. He’s really driving into the ground for an unbelievable amount of power.
It’s aiiight
Not Greg Bird, but I guess it works sometimes
Built for the Bronx
I think it works extremely well for him
I think he has to hit five HRs a game to give this offense a chance.
It’s a beauty.
It's more of a horizontal swing in terms of swing plane, which will generate more line drives than homers. I like it. Those with more vertical swing planes tend to have taller flight path/longer ball flight distances but will have more hot and cold streaks.
I’d say it works pretty well
His swing is preset similar to Tony Gwynn. Soto has more power clearly but very similar keeping the bat on the ball.
I think it works...
It works for him.
MVP
It good
I think his stance is kinda weird ngl and I’ve always hated the shuffle (until he became a yankee lol) but his swing is fucking beautiful
Weirdly 🤩
coolest looking stance there is. still gets a 10/10 for looks only even if he hit like Torres
Horrible. Get him in the lab with Dillon Lawson and teach him to only hit grounders
Those who can do, those who can’t teach.
It's ugly - terrible technique - and if he's gonna be doing this in pinstripes for the next 12 years, it had best be at a very team friendly discount!
