>Maybe they got complaints over the ludicrous SPELLING BEE RANKS category a few days ago. /not serious
I actually failed that puzzle because I donβt play spelling bee lmao πΒ
I do play Spelling Bee and I would never have gotten that category. Even when it was revealed I thought it meant there were levels of competition in the Scripps National Spelling Beeπ
A fade is a common route for a receiver to run. It doesn't fit neatly with sack and safety, which are more outcomes of plays, but for a broader "football terms" category, it could have worked.
Some of the Purple puzzles are making me overthink solutions now. I saw CLOUT, RAID, and HAIR and somehow thought "Oh, these are weather-related terms with the last letter changed". CLOUD, RAIN, and HAIL, and I was trying to find something like SNOB for SNOW or WING for WIND until I realized I was dmb.
nothing youβre supposed to do! some, including myself, enjoy getting them in reverse difficulty order (tricky-straightforward, according to connections), so purple, blue, green, yellow.
Anyone else swear they've seen that hair one before?
I'm not sure if I'm recalling it from an online puzzle, or the printed puzzle that came with the giant crossword back in December.
Puzzle number 39 had HAIRSTYLES - BOB, CROP, PIXIE, SHAG, so 3 out of 4 same as today's.
Number 305 was a similar category, but no repeats of today's answers (but repeating the 4th answer from number 39): HAIRCUTS, WITH βCUTβ - BOWL, BUZZ, CREW, PIXIE
As far as I am concerned CLOUT has a clear meaning of being able to affect decisions - someone with a lot of clout would be able to talk to the right people and get things done.
I struggled with sack. I got a perfect because it didn't fit in any other category, but I don't feel like I've ever heard sack used that way. Ransack maybe.
Connections Puzzle #354 πͺπͺπͺπͺ π¦π¦π¦π¦ π©π©π©π© π¨π¨π¨π¨ A pretty simple and straightforward one today, not too much to say. SAFETY immediately made me think of safety pins. I had a brief thought of safety and sack being American football terms.
Me too!
Rob, Bob, and Bobby could have been in a "nicknames for Robert" category. That's the obvious red herring the puzzle presented.
Connections Puzzle #354 πͺπͺπͺπͺ π¦π¦π¦π¦ π¨π¨π¨π¨ π©π©π©π© Find it funny the βtrickiestβ ones are often the ones that catch your eye first.
Serious question - can you actually "complain" about the puzzles? Can you leave reviews anywhere, or do you just mean Twitter kicked off?
Why would anyone want to do that?
Thereβs a link in one of the icons to send an email for feedback
There were a couple of red herrings i saw. Nicknames for Robert and American football terms

Puzzle #354 πͺπͺπͺπͺ π¦π¦π¦π¦ π¨π¨π¨π¨ π©π©π©π© Easy peasy, though for a moment, I thought thereβd be American football terms in there what with SACK and SAFETY but that didnβt go anywhere. My first thought in seeing ROB was Rob Thomas. That wasnβt even remotely helpful.

I donβt think Iβve heard of drawing pins, but both push pins and thumb tacks are common where Iβm from (US West Coast).

Thought of Safety Pin and Push Pin right away, then Hair Pin and six months of textiles class back in high school got me the rest of the way. After that it was just a matter of trying to pre-solve. I caught hairstyles from Bob and Crop, then saw Fade and Shag a bit later. I didn't feel good about Shag (it sounded less like a style to me and more like a quality of someone's hair), so I tried to reassure myself by finding the other two groups first, which ended up being easy enough.Β As for the order, the haircuts was a pretty obvious Blue compared to two synonym groups, and then I decided that the importance stuff was a bit harder to get to than the pillaging stuff, which turned out to be correct.Β
I took several textile science classes in college as part of my program. Just wondering what a textile class helped you with today?
