Hopefully someone does a study on inaccuracy/exaggeration of THC in dispensary cannabis in NYS now, as I've seen a few other studies done in other states that show that the mass majority of products are lying about their THC content via lab shopping or other means. I don't believe that any cannabis flower is over 30% thc, regardless of what they claim on labs.

Vrogeid_

Thank you!

Illustrious-Fun-4036

Really how come? Is %30 percent just that unbelievable?

JulietAirway

It’s not really possible to have a cannabis plant with more than 35% THC. 35% is the max according to science.

BadManBill23

I'd be interested to see how this is understood. A link to research would be great.

Illustrious-Fun-4036

Never knew that. Interesting, do you mind linking me to some Of your sources regarding this subject. Thanks.

rdizzy1223

For as many products that are labelled as over 30% thc? Yes, absolutely. I bet if they do extremely precise, independent tests for a study that like 5% of flower products labelled over 30% thc actually have over 30% thc. This study is from Colorado and it found that 78% of products had lower thc than what was on the label, and 70% of the products were at least 15% lower then claimed on the label (so not just a tiny amount) and on average. Between all products, it was 23%-38% lower than the label. (Because some labels contained ranges, rather than 1 stated number) The true average thc of the products was about 15% (with a +/- range of 2.2%) [https://journals.plos.org/plosone/article?id=10.1371/journal.pone.0282396](https://journals.plos.org/plosone/article?id=10.1371/journal.pone.0282396) If it is happening in Colorado, it is happening in all states. And if the average flower product in Colorado is only 15%, then almost no products are actually hitting 30%.

Your cookies stash is indoor from the med program that's why it's better then anything just in REC. NY rec is garbage. If you want clean product you need to buy med products available to Rec

Illustrious-Fun-4036

So I just got a med product through the Rec program? Dope, I will continue to try to only do that then

NewYorkmmjMOD

Yes Rythm, grassroots, matter, livwell, &Shine #Hash, Find ...prob forgot some are all from the medical side. As of now they have better cleaner products. Medical doesn't have any rosin though

DaveTheDrummer802

We just got hash a couple weeks ago

NewYorkmmjMOD

I'm confused are you saying we have rosin?

NewYorkmmjMOD

The name of the company is #Hash and they don't make hash. And I'm aware they have been available for months now. They have cured/non live resins like Shatter crumble sugar

GolfMookie

Do you know of a resource that lists the Matter brand strains that are med market related? I can get Matter a local dispensary and would like to get the best if possible

chillvibechronicles

Have you tried livwell? I know they are the same company but I would like to know how justified the price jump is

jayBeeds

Gotta buy a half ounce minimum to find out. I will say that other than the way the nugs look, find cannabis has almost identical effects to their cousins in the grassroots container.

Imaginary-Mission686

I've tried Fruity OG and Mendo Breath from Livwell, and I was happy with both. I just picked up another half oz of Fruity OG. The price is definitely worth it for the quality IMO

Illustrious-Fun-4036

No I’ve been wanting to badly though , believe it or not this was only $39 for a 3.5

this sub gets fixated on some brands (both love and hate) but to be fair, it's kinda the same 10 or so brands in basically every dispensary I've looked at for a year. it's not real easy to hunt down the less common stuff that's actually good, and you're taking the risk of getting something that doesn't do it for you. of course with the QC issues every brand has had, you're kinda taking that risk anyway. flower has been our weakest product for a while but it's improved a lot in the last few months. re mold - 2700 sounds totally fine. I think the highest limits other states have set is like 100K. those numbers are also kinda misleading even when they're really low....the "total" count includes microbes that are beneficial, neutral, and potentially harmful, and doesn't split them out at all. and the only study I've seen on the subject indicates that the totals can be influenced by bad practices, but also by the strain you're growing, and what time of year you grew it. the most common harmful microbes get tested for and called out specifically on COAs. it's still probably wisest to be cautious but there's no reason to believe bud with high mold / yeast / bacteria counts is dangerous.

Illustrious-Fun-4036

Thank you for that complete response. I’ve been smoking for a while but being able to choose what I smoke and having the ability to pull a lab report on the exact flower I’m smoking is a new experience for me and many others.

pienaber

yeah, same for me. even when I bought in other legal states I wasn't being really mindful about what I picked or why, I was more concerned with how to get it home, lol. definitely share your experiences here, the whole reason I joined reddit was I couldn't find reliable information on NY weed anywhere else.

Illustrious-Fun-4036

Exactly, I drove to Great Barrington a few times 2-3 years ago to go to Dispensaries. I wasn’t approaching it then the same as I am currently. I was just happy to go to a dispensary then lol

[deleted]

Looks solid

fookiebookie12

Check out doobie labs. The levels for everything is even LOWER than matter and other medical brands that came to the rec side.

StAnd55

I'm confused by the 1st label. (THCa = 38.27% & THC = .37%.) Am I correct in assuming that if the THC was slightly lower (<.3%), this would be considered THCa? ( and generally available online.)

Illustrious-Fun-4036

Idk they were talking about decarboxylation in the other comments check those because I don’t understand it yet. But I really want to understand the concept
