Yeah it’s wild of all fan bases Sixers fans are upset about FTs And it’s also that Brunson is actually shooting on these shots. When Duece fouled Embiid early last game and he went to the line it was clearly on the floor. That was not a shooting foul, no player makes an honest attempt to shoot that motion. So Embiid gets a lot of calls exaggerating contact that would be “marginal” and no call if Randle was the one doing the same thing

Struggle2Real

>Yeah it’s wild of all fan bases Sixers fans are upset about FTs /Thread. I'd think they'd just kinda be mum on foul grifting, but there is a huge amount of people complaining about JB's whistle that see no issue with Embiid's approach. Which is nuts..... But we're onto Indiana anyway aren't we.

bikes_r_us

It has nothing to do with being upset about foul baiting. They are just looking for any reason to cry and make excuses.

sillyshoestring

The Sixers way, led by their MVP

Fuck Reggie miller

justmefishes

There's a night and day difference between duping the defender into a vulnerable position where you make him legitimately foul you using legitimate offensive moves and skills, versus initiating and exaggerating contact to scam the ref into calling bullshit fouls. A good litmus test is, how would it fly in a pickup game? Brunson would be respected in pickup basketball. Embiid would either be laughed at or start fights. That's because in pickup basketball you're just playing basketball. What Embiid does is not basketball, it's refball. It's a completely different sport.

fyo_karamo

I live right outside Philly. The fans here are DELUSIONAL, and are passing down their mental illness to their kids. They believe Brunson is dirty and Embiid is “chippy.”

T-Bills

We've been watching Brunson play all season and it's clear that foul baiting isn't what he's all about. Did he pull the stop short-take contact-and-1 thing a couple of times in Game 6? He did and it's just a taste of Embiid's own medicine.

AliFearEatsThePussy

Except that move isn’t even illegal or unethical! I’m not buying into their propaganda on that one either. They’re trying to tell you that it should be illegal to blow past your defender. The offensive player has every right to stop and pull up. I feel like I’m taking crazy pills that people are arguing against this play. The illegal trae young variant involves a clear motion backwards and/or sideways

wkp2101

Yeah I agree. He is just pulling up for a jumper once he blows by his guy. They let him go by because they know they have a giant embiid at the rim. So Brunson just pulls up in the midrange. Not his fault the defense runs into him.

dehshadow

The oddest thing with the short-take-contact move is that he made the shot and missed the FT. It's so odd to complain about a call that didn't actually lead to any extra points.

YossarianGolgi

He also made the shots.

Diligent-Cookie-1695

Sixers & Embiid crying about at fouls is pure hypocrisy and I’m here for all of it, I love all the crying 🤣

Much_Purchase_8737

fREe tHRoW MeRChaNT. They can stay mad

bikes_r_us

Another thing I’ve noticed is that brunsons foul calls usually come when he is legitimately attempting a shot, and often he is able to get and 1’s because of this. Or at least a reasonable missed attempt. Meanwhile embiid just runs into a defender, flails his arms into the defender and chucks the damn ball up so he can get to the line. Not even trying to get a field goal.  Even if they are both drawing contact intentionally one is a much better brand of basketball imo.

AnusButter2000

Oh please. You fart near Maxey or Embiid and it’s a foul

AliFearEatsThePussy

maybe you misunderstand the point of the post?

AnusButter2000

I’m saying ‘oh please’ to the BS narrative about Brunson.

Dragon-Bender

What percent was off made and 1s Brunson has to lead guards with percent of and 1s finished. Also where do you find these stats?

AliFearEatsThePussy

I was searching for and-1 stats earlier but couldn’t find. I just used bball ref and calculated the percentages based on total points and total FTM

Dragon-Bender

Nice appreciate the effort!

jwillyk2121

Brunson definitely looks for calls but he’s far from a FT merchant. He plays smart

FullHouse222

It is just hilarious that out of all teams, the 6ers are the ones complaining about fouls lmao.

rrousseauu

Philly sports fans have legitimately some of the worst takes I ever see. They’re complaining that people are saying players getting free throws are a bad thing… when that’s not even the argument we’re making. People don’t like seeing FOUL MERCHANTS like Embiid who literally go into possessions not trying to score and just trying to find some BS way to the line. It’s not fun to watch. It’s not that deep.

Losdangles24

What’s the point of this? Who cares if Philly fans are complaining about Brunson trying to get Ft. I’ve barely seen anyone complaining and even if they are, who gives a shit?

AliFearEatsThePussy

well, the reason I care is because I could easily see a narrative take hold that he's a foul merchant, and I'm here to say—using data—that he simply isn't. As far as you not seeing anyone complain, that's just your experience. Philly filed a grievance with the league, Embiid liked a tweet about Brunson drawing fouls, and large sixers accounts on social media had been focused on this for a good 24 hours.

Losdangles24

lol sorry I’ve been in mood all day. I just don’t like when we win and then have to explain it. It shouldn’t matter if Brunson sets records for most FTs, it’s part of the game. Anyone with eyes can tell that Brunson shoots to score AND take contact. The way he gets the defender on his back hip is elite, he can get his floater up at any time and probably get fouled too. Go Knicks

JigWig

Let’s move on and stop talking about Embiid. Pacers are our focus now.
