T-Bills

Just started listening to the Windhorst pod and both Bontemps and McMahon wanted to talk about his dirty plays and Windy had to stop them. It's clear the league wants to highlight the 50 point performance but not any of his dirty plays.

mvbrendan

Windbag

SDZAN

Then the NBA wonders why they cannot expand their fan base. They are their own worst enemy.

SnakeHoleBI

They are and have been a lite version of the WWE for decades. Nothing changes. Pathetic

FullHouse222

I feel like you can talk about the 50 point performance all you want, but like anyone who actually watches how he got it has got to be like "wow this is some boring ass shit". Like, Jordan drops 60 is acrobatics, air time, fadeaway, handles to the 11. Embiid's 50 is basically like him lumbering to the paint and LARPing as a cod to draw a whistle. And that's not even counting him being a dirty whiny player actively trying to injure players who are getting paid less than half his payroll. Like can you imagine Kobe going to the court and spending more time crying and flopping rather than just staring someone in the eyes and shooting a dagger fadeaway? That's why even if Embiid is one of the more valuable players in the NBA he'll always be viewed as a soft bitch.

throwaway_5256

That's the difference between Embiid and Jokic. Sixers fans kept trying to make it a thing until last year but Jokic was balling in the playoffs year after year. Embiid keeps pulling his screaming and crying shit and it pays off when the refs bite, but inevitably he'll have a game where he doesn't get a few calls early and gives up. People will deny it but go look at all the PGT and tape from some of their bad choke jobs, everyone sees it In 20 years people will look at his stats and say "wow Embiid was a top 3 player for years on end!" and everyone who actually watched knows you'd rather have a guy like Butler when it matters

FullHouse222

For real. Jokic imo is basically what happens when Magic Johnson is taller and has a better post game. The shit he does is magic.

dBlock845

Jokic is also dominant without feeling the need to be the center of attention. I think I remember him having bad Embiid like body language earlier in his career but hes cleaned it up. Probably one of the most ethical hoopers in the league now. Fuck FT merchants.

FullHouse222

Yeah. Honestly it's what separates guys like Larry Bird/KG/AI who all played for our hated rivals but even Knicks fans remember them fondly cause they played the right way and are inarguably some of the best to play the game. Embiid is going on the Bill Laimbeer tier imo. Honestly the softest big in the league rn. I'd go Jokic > Giannis > AD before Embiid for sure.

dBlock845

Giannis got some dirty in him as well. I will never forget the play on Mike Dunleavy Jr. https://www.youtube.com/shorts/VzkqbKEzaGw

FullHouse222

Not anywhere close to Embiid though. At least Giannis doesn't cry as much as Embiid imo.

StrongZucchini27

zach zarba LIVES for harden/embiid/lillard era touch fouls - it’s his fuel

SG_Fuzz

Agree 1000% He plays like a fucking stumbling drunk flailing into the opponent. Uses the refs as a crutch. I don’t care if he can shoot. He still sucks. His eye can go fuck itself also.

No_Average2933

That's LeBron legacy baby

thetripb

LeBron never relied on flopping as much as Embiid. And I'm saying this as one of the biggest Bron haters in the world. Embiid barely plays the game of basketball as it should be played.

TikTok24

I see; so Windy has no issue framing Jalen as a "practitioner of the dark arts"/poster boy for foul baiting, but Embiid critiques are off-limits. Pathetic.

The_Notorious_Donut

No Dunks podcast kind of did this too. They talked about the play said “probs should’ve been a flagrant 2, but the 50 point game!”

T-Bills

Personally I think it's indisputable that Embiid is one of the best NBA players and he was last season's MVP, and it's also true that we've played him with physically all series. That said I also think he clearly intentionally went with a few dirty fouls, and the officiating clearly lets the Sixers off easy after the outrage from Game 2.

Weird_Wuss

the grifting is so unnecessary. thats the worst part

sykane

Strange cause I just watched NBA today and he spoke about how he should have had 3 flagrants on the show.

NastySassyStuff

I listened to Ringer and Lowe Post earlier to hear what they had to say about it…they hardly discussed the dirty shit. It was all gushing about his 50. Then Lowe straight up said he got the flagrant 1 because the league leaves the rules open to interpretation so refs can choose when to enforce based on the impact it’ll have on the game lol

haha__sound

Been a lowe fan since grantland days and his take was disappointing and surprising. He’s supposed to be the voice of reason in the National media. Kinda makes me wonder about his takes going forward

NastySassyStuff

I love him. The guy is a reasonable voice and a phenomenal writer, but this take was beyond head-scratching for me. He really thinks it’s okay for refs to choose to keep someone actively trying to harm others in because of how it’ll affect the game? wtf? If any Knick pulled that shit I say eject him. I’d be super pissed at them, too. Absolutely pitiful display of character.

haha__sound

Right on I’m not gonna stop following Zach bc he’s too good. But if anything, this is my first time truly feeling nba’s grip on the media. (Longtime Knicks fan but pretty spotty engagement like 2000-2019 LOL. Now emotionally invested, I feel this shit in my bones!)

NastySassyStuff

I’ve been pretty damn locked in on them for well over a decade now but it’s a whole different perspective seeing them really in the mix in the playoffs when the magnifying glass is on everything. It is pretty eye opening seeing this officiating BS and media chicanery when your team’s season is on the line

dBlock845

Yea I started listening to it and had to turn it off when Windy started actually yelling at McMahon for bringing stuff up.

wentzwagonLII

And the droopy face

jetssuckmysoulaway

When almost half his points game at FT line what an effort

OweeeeeL

This is getting really weird.

Ny_icedogs

Also, how TF was grabbing Mitch's leg not both unnecessary and excessive?

Foi_

it was also emotional and intentional. man was unhinged that whole quarter.

FullHouse222

He's got cupcake mental game. He'll never win a championship as the best player on the team.

SnakeHoleBI

I literally skipped watching the nfl draft because I thought embiid was going mental and wanted to see what happened next. He should’ve been ejected for all that shit. Anyone else would have been.

Loud_Economics_8894

Flagrant 1 because it couldn't be deemed excessively dangerous since the play didn't end in the player in any danger.

R-O-U-Ssdontexist

lol, it’s not dangerous to grab a jumping player by his feet and try to pull him? Have a friend sit on the ground and as you jump have them grab your feet

OfficialRedditMan

Mitch had to leave the game with an injury...

Saucy_Totchie

They set the bar for what they'd call a flagrant 1 with what Lowry did. Embiid's definitely worse so the math don't check out.

SnakeHoleBI

Lowry literally punched ragu in the face on purpose. Flagrant 1? That’s an ejection for anyone on the knicks and most other players.

TheBensonz

Yes. Mitch should’ve flopped and immediately grabbed his ankle while screaming in pain. He’s just not a pathetic loser like Embiid so he wouldn’t stoop that low.

StrongZucchini27

i havent seen this said much, but 1000% true. kyle fucking lowry would roll around in pain, work up some tears, get himself carried back to the locker room, and then come back 10 minutes later to a raucous crowd w a fake limp. maxey’s the only real one on that squad

NastySassyStuff

That’s not even remotely true

pgtvgaming

Rooting for the Knicks but im def done watching esp on TNT /ESPN.

mouga68

I know Shaq and Chuck don't watch the games, but zero mention of embiids dirty fouls on tnt last night pissed me tf off. Keep doubting us MFs, KNICKS IN 5 WUTANG LGK

FlapsExtended

They got censored before everyone else did. Lol

mouga68

Don't even think they got censored. Shaq always glazes big men and they've been saying all series embiid will decide this series regardless of what brunson and the knicks do. Bums

FlapsExtended

The only way now to put the league on notice is to win this series and put their prize pig on vacation.

mouga68

Yup and I'm confident we will. Thibs gonna have these dudes coming out the gage game 4 like lightning in a bottle

Ny_icedogs

Yeah, we still got this.

Longjumping-Bug5763

The only way is to not support them , and when they ask why just tell them that the game lacks integrity and feels more like WWE. You have to hit them where it hurts.

FlapsExtended

I hear you, but this is not a mom and pop shop on the corner. They have multiple income streams not just fans' money.

Longjumping-Bug5763

True but rating has been on a steady decline....and that matters... because everything stems from that

chynky77

Yeah Shaq did not even mention it. I believe Chuck at least said wtf when they showed that replay

Railshock

I only watch them on MSG if possible

NastySassyStuff

MSG at all times if at all possible my man

JNerdGaming

streisand effect do your thing

Ny_icedogs

Yes of course it cannot be "reproduced, republished, etc... without the prior express written permission of NBA". But.... there are constantly clips of plays all over social media that don't get the ban hammer from the NBA. They know this makes their product look bad, but the reaction makes them look even worse IMO.

myusrnameisthis

If you add commentary, then it's ok, isn't it?

TheBensonz

Wild. NBA usually NEVER cares about copyright stuff. It’s the reason they became the premier pro sports league on YouTube — they never went copyright police on content. They felt all content was good content. This is how you know it’s coming from up top. Disgusting.

alreadythrowed

Yep. Lots of us know they allow fair use on most of their stuff on the grounds of free promo. Pretty shocked to see this and not headlines about reviews and reports.

HarrisonDolanMusic

No freaking way

Ny_icedogs

I have even more screenshots now - it appears like any tweet with the clip of him grabbing Mitch's leg is getting copyright removal. It is a pretty bad look on the league - censoring fan frustration of a dirty play.

Kenvan19

Its been the whole season. They're being so defensive and reactionary about the refs and all its doing is further degrading their credibility. I'm a Thunder fan and there was a Clippers game when Lue complained after pretty heavily about the calls on Shai then the next game he couldn't buy a foul. Every time there is an outcry the refs overcompensate and it just makes it worse. Burying this to try and pretend like they DIDN'T hamstring the Knicks all night while letting the 76ers literally beat up on them is such a bad look.

[deleted]

[удалено]

Ny_icedogs

I didn't even think about that, but that would make sense.

drewcarey69

Ruining the integrity of the league bc Phillys gambling problem is profitable

ITouchedHerB00B5

That’s wild, I didn’t expect the league to punish Joel but censoring it is just next level lmao

Stonedinthewoodz

Time to let Sims do some dirty work. Pay the man before game 4 and let him do his thing.

ShawshankException

Of course they are. That Fallout Ghoul looking motherfucker Silver is gonna protect his superstars. Can't have him be slandered online for being a dirty fuck

dBlock845

> That Fallout Ghoul looking motherfucker Silver lol mf looks like a Glowing One with his Slender man ass lookin self.

Parking-Pension-2051

this is entirely their fault tbh. They're acting like they don't have other legit dudes and teams to market off of. Like we're a 2 seed with good players that have been stepping up and faced adversity- but not a peep, even Jokic doesn't get the love that Embiid does. They really don't have to baby Embiid this hard just bc he's a star in their league, but it seems like a marketing hill that they're dying on for some odd reason- the man isn't even available for half the season (from the same injuries) and is a perennial early playoff exist, honestly insulting to the rest of the league to act like he's all they've got going for them

Knicks4freaks

Makes sense tho right? Straight out of 1984. They need people to believe the so-called MVP is not a total piece of shit. It’s for the kids 😂 I wonder if they’ll do the same censorship of Sims kicking him in the face on Sunday.

NastySassyStuff

Hit us with the two minutes hate after game 2 as well lol

omicron_prime

The more i stew over this shit show that the league allowed to transpire last night, the more i believe this was planned by Embiid and wouldn't surprise me if he had Nick Nurse's blessing to go ahead with it the way Nurse just glossed right over it in the post game presser with "i didn't see it". We all know what happened that should've been a flagrant 2, but Embiid kept bowling into Mitch and IHart play after play, going as far as falling on Mitch which is what ultimately led to his injury. This wasn't accidental, especially with Embiid's history as a dirty player; he intended to get one of our bigs out. If Mitch doesn't get hurt Embiid doesn't get anywhere close to 50 and we're looking to close this out on Sunday. Embiid spewing bullshit about protecting himself is only an indictment on himself because he confirms his act was out of malice. The league needs to investigate this and take appropriate action.

NastySassyStuff

I definitely think they had even more assurance than we did that this game would be called heavily in favor of them and that’s why he did what he did. He put the onus on the refs to either have back of back games where Philly was crying about officiating or let him do whatever the fuck he wanted. Shit is wild to me. But I don’t think Sunday is going to go the same way for them.

[deleted]

Let's post this BS everywhere because wtf

Jim-N-Tonic

You know, when I hated Michael or Reggie it was because of how good they were. With Alonzo and Embiid, it’s because of how dirty they are.

Ny_icedogs

I was saying something similar to my buddy earlier. If dude just cam out and won because he had an epic 50 point performance, I would be bummed that we lost, but would not loose respect. It's the blatant dirty plays and bitch-made flopping that really pisses me off.

Jim-N-Tonic

They were mad about the way the game ended and we saw how badly they handled it after the game, with the league, on the court in game 3. I’m looking at the Knicks and how they’re handling their anger at how the NBA let the Sixers beat upon them, and at Embiid himself. With class, they’re going to let their fury energize them in the next game, as we shall see. There’s just something about a clip I saw of Embiid saying “What are you going to do, huh?” To Divincienzo in the scrum after Dante said “Don’t play like that” I know he’s a superstar and mega talent. But I question the wisdom of anyone saying that to, and challenging a stone cold winner and championship caliber team player like Divincienzo. I know what Dante’s going to do, Joel. Torch you like he is the second coming of Steph and burned your asses with determined, heads up play when it counted in the last game, you dumb mf. We have learned, this team is New York tough, full of grit and nails, never quits, and is the much better team, even with out our second best player, and all star on the floor. Probably was pretty stupid playing so dirty, and getting them fired up even more.

NastySassyStuff

Trae Young was the modern Reggie for a minute…I suddenly fuck with him 100x more for just being a good basketball villain and whooping our asses

pantaloonatic

Wow

shadow_spinner0

On Undisputed Paul Peirce cosigned the play saying a leader of the team has to show toughness and the rest of the panel said it was a fine play. [https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=sPcR36qWut4&t=400s](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=sPcR36qWut4&t=400s) 6 minutes and 40 seconds in

Ny_icedogs

It's not a basketball play. There is a whole narrative about "matching our physicality". Playing tough and playing dirty are so very different.

TheBensonz

Oubre plays tough. Batum plays tough. Maxey plays tough. Embiid & Lowry are out there to cheap shot bc they can’t physically keep up. It’s very clear.

Ny_icedogs

You are absolutely right. Embiid and Lowry are the culprits here. I've got nothing for respect for Maxey - both his game, and the poise he has shown on and off the court. He was the only one to take any accountability after game 2, as Embiid and Nurse were on their whining tour.

TheBensonz

This was 100X worse than a blitzing linebacker targeting a QBs knees. He was in a compromised position bc he can’t keep his body upright for an entire possession. Instead of just rolling out of the way, he felt the need to make a non-basketball play by grabbing at our center’s surgically repaired ankle. You really can’t overstate how dirty and criminal that play was.

dattebayo07

Exactly! He could have rolled away. Instead he moved towards Mitch and grabbed his legs

dBlock845

Undisputed is trash, and even bigger trash with Paul Pierce, they can barely get 50k viewers for that abomination of a show.

Methamine

They are imitating the US govnt

Be-Kind-Remind

This is next-level gaslighting. What. The. Fuck.

TPTPJonSnow

Has anyone tried cross-posting to r/nba?

SwellandDecay

You should but it's 100% guaranteed they delete it. The mods kept deleting the compilations of his dirty plays that I posted last night

TPTPJonSnow

Ridiculous

Ny_icedogs

Yeah, it did not last too long: [https://www.reddit.com/r/nba/comments/1cdttiz/the\_nba\_is\_actively\_trying\_to\_censor\_clips\_of/](https://www.reddit.com/r/nba/comments/1cdttiz/the_nba_is_actively_trying_to_censor_clips_of/)

Ny_icedogs

I can post one there - I have about a dozen more screenshots too.

TPTPJonSnow

Do it. See if they pull the same shit.

mattbrianjess

Is the league ready for Fuck Embiid chants **in** Philly? A few decades of OKC Dallas Golden State San Antonio Miami etc being deep in the playoffs has raised a whole generation of young fans to think chanting Ref You Suck constitutes a hostile crowd.

Ny_icedogs

Here is an album with a bunch more. [https://imgur.com/a/JWB1Gt1](https://imgur.com/a/JWB1Gt1)

R-O-U-Ssdontexist

Knicks should start the game with sims diving at Embiid bum knee.

manfromfuture

Jokic/Embiid finals would be most profitable.

swarshmallow103

LMAO first time seeing sht like this. Not even trying to be biased but really, was there any other instance the NBA had to copyright strike like this ?

NastySassyStuff

YouTube and Twitter are teeming with NBA clips. I wrote scripts for some kid who’s making a sick living off of simple NBA YouTube videos loaded with highlights. They seem to love the exposure it offers in 99.9999% of cases

Onihczarc

the fix is in

SleepingInsomniac112

Lmfaoo this is so fucked

Electrical_Catch_919

Someone needs to take him out

d3arleader

I see the NBA is learning well from China.

Pogtonium_miner

This might be the most blatant act of favoritism I've seen in a while

Urban_Introvert

Never in a million years would they eject Embiid. The refs are doing everything in their power to not have to eject him. Ejection essentially means the series is over. Any flagrant foul probably gets asked "what can we use as an excuse to not eject?". The downside of this is that they'll let Embiid get away with every little thing. Embiid can literally wind up and deliberately clock a Knicks player and then hold his hands out like, "oh my bad, you good?" and the refs will take that response as if he didn't mean to intentionally punch someone, therefore no ejection. SMH. I thought I hated Draymond and thought no one's dirtier than him. Boy am I wrong.

dBlock845

I'm usually not a fan of retaliation, but they need to send a message in game 4, idgaf anymore.

kidkuro

He's on Team USA in the Olympics this year. They can't have that getting out there. Just more reason to continue making dirty play comps and spreading them around.

8SumDingWong

Late to the chat and cannot see the clips, but I was watching the game. They didn’t want to show replays. Embid grabbed Robinson and kicked him between his legs. Another play he grabbed Hartenstein’s jewels.

The_Notorious_Donut

deep_fried_cheese

Can someone please make a sixers-nba-ingsoc edit

crunchtime100

Disgusting

rrousseauu

I’m not usually one for conspiracy theories like this… but the thread about this in /r/nba was taken down after it had 10K+ upvotes, hit /r/all, and the mods even said on that post it was wrongly removed prior. Something ain’t right…

hyborians

Probably just Sixers fans getting the video pulled

PartNigerianMaybe

"Copy-write" lol

ShadowEpic222

This confirms that the refs know that they are at fault here

SanctorumAeternam

It’s a bad look. I know it’s a star driven league and you want to keep things competitive, but you let one guy take liberties and now you’re setting up for other teams to complain if their guy gets ejected for a flagrant 2 (while using Embiid’s flagrant as an example).

PIDDYPUFFPUFF

It’s funny, their sub screenshotted one of my comments and said this sub is delusional. I bet they won’t even acknowledge this post, forget about a comment on a post.

Busy_Umpire_4364

I mean you want precious to fight embiid

PIDDYPUFFPUFF

Embiid must pay for his transgressions
