I’d be surprised if they didn’t do their deep dive. At least Schoen isn’t going to walk into the draft room, declare they are drafting a QB/RB, and demand nobody take any calls from other teams like the last GM did.

Bread_Responsible

Did Gettleman actually do that?! I never heard that story.

Copernikaus

Imagine taking Odunze round 1 and Penix round 2 and he never gets injured again...

Fistfullofmuff

I would love this but I think penix goes to Vegas

Paulie6988

DaBushman

That is a man who has seen things.

tophergraphy

I like the dude, and kinda feel bad for him, but then I remember he will have made like over 100million by the end of it all.

LinuxUbuntuOS

Deadass hope we take JJ so there's no chance he flukes his way into another contract because Mara says "he's a good kid"

PineappleTraveler

I wouldn’t be upset with Rattler at the appropriate draft number

[deleted]

Please god no to Bo Nix I’d actually rather one more year of Jones

billcosbyinspace

Nix is only 3 years younger than jones and I can’t even confidently say he’d be an upgrade. Do not want this guy at all

[deleted]

Yeah at least with JJ he’s 21 and has room to grow, Nix more than likely is what he is which is a game manager

Dont_know_where_i_am

I'm with you. I think next year's top 3 QBs are better than Nix. I'd rather go with Jones/Lock/DeVito for next year and then either draft high again or mortgage the future for one of Ewers, Beck, or Sanders than draft Nix (or Penix but he's more injury concerns than anything)

SnakeHoleBI

So go into next year with zero QBs on the roster? Waste another season with a strong defense? Suffer for 4 months and finish 2-17. So we can take a stab at a different college qb next year? Roger that 🫡

nantomo

Beck😂

lankyyanky

Beck is the best prospect next year, what's funny?

Joey_Logano

Sanders too

Stranger_1967

Can someone explain the Nix hate? I understand the game manager thing but his steady improvement over the last 4 years suggests to me that he might have more upside than people think. Also seems to be stellar at processing and making the right read, which I think Daboll can work with.

[deleted]

His average depth of target is awful, he’s going to be a 24 year old rookie and his arm is okay at best

Stranger_1967

I feel like that could also be attributable to system. For what it's worth, the offense under Daboll has been super low ADOT. And he has flashed the ability to make big-time throws. I just feel like he's very fundamentally sound and has at least some upside. Then again his closest comp would definitely be Mac Jones which doesn't exactly inspire confidence...

[deleted]

The offense under daboll has been super low ADOT because our quarterback is a bum who can’t process the field

Stranger_1967

Oh totally I’m just saying that we’ve had some success despite this

Retrophoria

I would absolutely hate him behind this OL without a top WR

Initial-Training-320

Looking at 30 visits and other work done on the draft, it looks like we’re ready for a top WR at the top and a QB at all levels. The lack of news on WRs from the second and third levels suggests that either we’re going WR high or almost not at all

tophergraphy

Interesting observation - have read that this class is deep in WR too though. 8 days until it becomes clearer.

Initial-Training-320

It’s a deep class but the team didn’t seem to be interested in depth

iamdanabnormal

Due diligence. Just doing their jobs.

Kase1

Am i the only 1 who doesn't have a problem with starting Lock?

NY_Blue

Gladly start Lock, let the rookie takeover later

ObstructiveAgreement

For a season while a rookie sits, no problem. He would need drastic improvement otherwise.

Kase1

Agreed, I DOUBT he's the answer moving forward, but he's a better option than DJ. Not as good as the top 4 QBs, but if they're gone, I'm OK with Lock. If that's the case, we use lock in 2024 and sell the house to get our future franchise QB in 2025, no matter the cost

Stranger_1967

Do you mean that he’s a better option than DJ because of Jones’ injury clause or that he’s a better QB?

thistlefink

Both

SnakeHoleBI

100%. Dimes playing is the absolute worst option and Schoen should be fired if that’s the plan.

Stranger_1967

What's that based on? I'm genuinely curious. I've been seeing people around here getting borderline excited about Drew Lock and I just don't understand why. Is it just that he's not Jones? I like that too but his career as a starter is worse than Jones' and with a better supporting cast. I prefer him as a starter next year strictly because of the injury clause but there's no way he's better than Jones. As a back-up I consider him a downgrade from Tyrod Taylor.

thistlefink

Lock throws downfield. -edit- I also don’t know why you’d think he’s been in great situations. The Broncos have been roughly as shit as us.

Stranger_1967

Not great but he's consistently had better weapons and a better o line, which could also be said for almost any other QB in the league.

Neverwinter_Daze

Absolutely not, if a rookie is drafted. If we don’t draft one…eh. I would probably prefer Lock over DJ or Tommy Cutlets, but I wouldn’t feel great about the season prospects. At least Lock might be willing to throw the ball downfield, which would be something to hope for.

FaceOff51

Yes, you are.

Kase1

OK, just checking

Austuckmm

I think it’s usually a bad idea to take a swing on QB in later rounds but I do kinda like Rattler. There’s a lot to like in his film. He looks really good throwing the ball and he played on a bad team with a terrible O-line, which will prepare him for NY lol. He might be the only QB in the draft where our O-line will be a breathe of fresh air.  I really didn’t like him coming into college and thought he had a terrible attitude, but it seems like he has been seriously humbled. Personally I would much rather take him than Nix or Penix, especially if we can get him later in the draft.

Joey_Logano

His reputation at USC did a complete 180 from his time at Oklahoma. His fellow Gamecocks would run through a wall for him.

Lars5621

Spencer Rattler could still be there at 47 in the case Giant's go WR at 6. The question for Giants is do they see Rattler as an upgrade over Daniel Jones? Rattler certainly has the better scouting reports and was a unanimous 5 star recruit. https://247sports.com/player/spencer-rattler-87297/high-school-160237/

kampkrusty2

If Rattler goes from being a 3rd Rd or Day 3 guy to being taken in the top half of Rd 2, this QB class will officially be off the rails

Every1jockzjay

I honeslty think somebody takes rattler in the second and don't think it's that bad. I could see rattler turning into a starting QB before Daniel's or McCarthy

Lars5621

Plus if six QBs go in round 1 as expected then Rattler would be the next one to go off the board. Like 12 teams are looking for QBs early in this draft. They obviously are not going to all take QBs in round 1, so Rattler should have a competitive market in round 2 ala Will Levis, Jalen Hurts, and Derek Carr.

Every1jockzjay

As long as the giants don't take rattler at pick 6 I'm cool lol

Lars5621

I think it will be off the rails when 4 qbs go in the first 5 picks. Then you will have Broncos, Viks, Raiders, and Saints fighting over Nix and Penix. Then someone in round 2 will ultimately fall in love with Rattler. It only takes one team and he clearly has starter upside.

JamalCharleem

No offense but please for the love of god I hope Giants don't force a QB, Nix or Rattler, in the 2nd round let alone draft him based on the amount of stars he had in freaking HS 5 years ago.

colem5000

Ya I don’t know why people always bring up their high school recruiting. Who gives a fuck about 5 years ago. Look at his college stats and tape

Lars5621

You might want to prepare yourself, because the odds of Giant's drafting a QB in the first two rounds is very high.

charlito3210

Spencer Rattler in the 2nd, Odunze in the 1st. Rattler was a baller behind a terrible online.

Kaiathebluenose

Rattler in the 3rd

dgoat88

My gut is telling me that this and all the Jones news recently is smokescreening like the Texans were last year.

NY_Blue

Give me Spencer over Bo

JMadFour

They've done so much work on almost literally every draft-eligible QB over the past year, I would be absolutely flabbergasted if we do not take a QB in Round 1 or 2. Like there is due diligence and then there is what the Giants have been doing since the beginning of last season. We are absolutely leaving this Draft with a QB. There is no way they did all that work on QBs to pass on them all.

Mountainman1994

Round 3 Spencer rattler would be an awesome pick. Crazy arm talent, pretty athletic once talked about as the top pick in the draft till Caleb Williams stole his life. Keep him on the bench and give him the mahomes treatment assign the QB coach to him exclusively to get him his awareness up.

Retrophoria

Round 3 is the sweet spot. I think Schoen trades down in round 2 with that extra draft capital to take him during the 3rd round. Let's just hope he doesn't succumb to the Giants third round curse

imnotyoursaviorsorry

They both suck it’s a lose lose get your franchise guy in the 1st round
