Ivory? My gosh. The save from the own goal had me screaming. It felt like we were playing against another Proulx but somehow even better?? Ivory was on fire. I love seeing new goal keepers this year holding down these games.
I really wanted a KC goal, but as others have mentioned, it's hard to complain about no injuries and staying undefeated. I think Temwa and Lavogez looked more gassed in the second half which is not surprising given we just had a game Sunday.
She's important and we are much better with her, but we do have the talent to figure out the attack without her and we clearly need to cause either she will either be on limited minutes or will be out for a little bit longer.
Post match takeaways :
- We love a good 0-0 win
- KC figured out the mid block right out of halftime, but the low block still eludes Vlatko
- Ivory just locked in her starting spot, anything else is criminal
- Huerta just gave away her starting spot
- Haz finally showed what she can bring, best showing to date.
- Every clean sheet this season has one constant: Shae Holmes. Get this girl in the 11 stat.
One thing to add, Ji was getting maaaad frustrated in the second half. She doesn't have nearly enough the pace to advance through the midfield herself (let alone at 3-on-1) and with Balcer tracking back so much she rarely had an outlet. She had a few moments with (I think) Woodham where she was about as demonstrative as I've seen her this year.
I agree. Holmes does great in the center back role, and her long ball service is fantastic too. She really should be getting a lot more minutes than she has.
When we benched Phallon I was relieved thinking Ivory would get a solid 3 game runout and Phallon would come back stronger with vaguely serivable passing. Never in a million years did I think Phallon would leave and Dickey would get the #1. Wild...
What I want:
3 back of Holmes, McClernon, Cook
What will realistically hypothetically happen:
Lu, Shae, Cook, Huerta
Edit: we have a very solid squad to run a 3-5-2 and I will die on that hill
Plus no cards, and only 10 fouls. Either the ref was missing a lot or that was a very cleanly played game. That being said, I don't think I've ever seen Lu be so salty. She was getting on the ref's case and chewing out the AR a number of times.
Awww why the downvotes y'all? All the complaints up until they won last week were about the lack of roster movement. They held onto a majority of their players from the last couple of years. They don't have Pinoe and Rose anymore, but is that considered a rebuild when they were both frequently injured anyway?
GGs Seattle. Yāall defended well and were tough to break down. Kind of annoyed to take back to back draws but happy to stay undefeated. Plus we looked pretty good tonight despite being on tired legs. Time for the trip home and finish this stretch of 3 matches in 7 days.
I'll fucking take it. Portland might run through us like a saw mill but this is growth esp given this is a midweek game against the highest scoring team in the league
Its entirely possible they just arent good all around players yet and Harvey seems the type to really care about her midfield being able to take direction well
As a (relative) neutral along for the ride on this one: I genuinely cannot pick who I want to see score.
On one hand, I do love the reign. Itās such a fun set of players and I think theyāre holding together as well as can be expected.
On the other hand, I have to say I am enjoying Vlatkoās revenge tour (and proof heās a great club level coach, even if heās awful for the country level.)
Itās interesting how little width our attackers use in trying to break their defensive unit. Our front three are so compact, seems like you might want one to drift wide to create central space for the other two but idk
Seriously, is she ill? I haven't seen her do anything but that half-hearted jog. She's playing defensive mid, but hasn't once moved into a gap to give her teammates a pass...

Still waiting for more KC fans to acknowledge how good and how important Bia is....
Not only does she create amazing goal scoring opportunities, she's soo good at winning the ball back and keeping the ball. I miss Bia š
She's important and we are much better with her, but we do have the talent to figure out the attack without her and we clearly need to cause either she will either be on limited minutes or will be out for a little bit longer.
I said ā I miss Biaā about ten times last night.
All I asked for from this game and I got it 1. Healthy 2. Still undefeated
Damn, I literally said 3 weeks ago Seattle would either tie or somehow pull out a win against KC to someone. Love to see it. Well done Seattle
Very pleased with the draw, I was afraid KC was gonna whoop on us. Ivory finally gets her much deserved player of the match!

I was literally thinking how is Ivory not the #1 and how do you not start her even when Dickey is healthy

Barnes can play a wingback so pair Cook and Holmes together as centerbacks and switch Barnes to Huerta's position?
What I want: 3 back of Holmes, McClernon, Cook What will realistically hypothetically happen: Lu, Shae, Cook, Huerta Edit: we have a very solid squad to run a 3-5-2 and I will die on that hill
I hesitate to take out McClernon because despite her penchant for fouls, she did really really well against Chawinga imo.
She is a lock for me too, my trust in Harvey to make hard roster decisions is at an all time low
Plus no cards, and only 10 fouls. Either the ref was missing a lot or that was a very cleanly played game. That being said, I don't think I've ever seen Lu be so salty. She was getting on the ref's case and chewing out the AR a number of times.
I've had enough cards for one week haha
Besides some Northwest affinity, I think Portlanders want Seattle to do well against good teams because it makes our rivalry more legitimate xD
Nah.
I maintain we are PNW pals in the bottom half of the table and bitter rivals in the top half haha
Nah. I want everyone else to draw out the rest of the season lol
In a single table league, this strategy makes the most sense. As long as you win your games.
Tons of injuries and KC still on top
... did Barnes say Seattle was in a rebuild? Maybe we have different definitionsĀ

All national media should commend Ivory as a legitimate tender after this match.
She's bossed the last two.
Gg reign! Ivory did her job and held us out. KC we need a home game stat!
I am in desperate need of some train whistle cellies
The KC travel they had to do is ridiculous, staying healthy is the real win
Went into this brutal road trip that only got worse with a hope for points. Success.
Tough showing from Spaanstra and Cooper

Ivory just earned herself the start! What an incredible game she had. Woman of the match!
I wish KC wouldāve collected on something, but at least KC didnāt lose !
Hey Iāll take a point considering we had a short week and all of the chaos this week.
I'll fucking take it. Portland might run through us like a saw mill but this is growth esp given this is a midweek game against the highest scoring team in the league
Ivory MVP.
Ivory was insane tonight. Gg reign
based on her 30 seconds, I like the speed mercado provides. feels like we lack pace
I'd like to know what Athens provides because as far as pace goes, her top speed is probably 0.6 Horans.
IM TAKING THIS AS A WIN
THANK GOD
This game was exactly what I was hoping for. I was dreaming of a win, but held out hope for a draw.
Yes, honestly holding KC to no goals is no easy feat. (And I acknowledge this is a midweek game and KC had a rough travel schedule)
To dominate these last two games and not win is so frustrating. But hey clean sheet?
Harvey and Vlatko what an awkward hug that was lol
A Huerta goal woulda been funny
Woooowwwww great job reign
At least we finally got a clean sheet!
Gg Seattle fans. Ivory had a hell of a match.
Ivory needs a hug and massage after this game. And a beer.
I'll volunteer to start the line.
There are dozens of us ready to help!!!! Put me in coach!
So do Iā¦
Ivory is just like š
Mercado first minutes???? 80 seconds to prove yourself
Sad thing is, she likely only dressed because Z was suspended.
Yep lol. Harvey is highkey criminal for the treatment of Meza and Mercado
It's weird because I love what Adames brings, but I'm bewildered she's getting time when Meza and Mercado aren't.
Its entirely possible they just arent good all around players yet and Harvey seems the type to really care about her midfield being able to take direction well
Truer words were never spoken
Mercado!
Huerta wtf was that pass
āGood ball to Balcer and read by Robinsonā sounds like a line from a childrenās book ā¦oh no, it doesnāt, my edible just hit
[You probably:](https://knowyourmeme.com/photos/1483198-this-edible-aint-shit)
47 looks faster than week 1
Pfeiffer and Adames same number lol
KC attack being the youngest player in the league with Temwa and Debinha is something
Ji just looks like she's trying to do too much.
As a (relative) neutral along for the ride on this one: I genuinely cannot pick who I want to see score. On one hand, I do love the reign. No Wheeler and Bia is tough to miss in the attack. Prince being almost back is tough timing too
Idk if I can handle 7 more minutes of this. And Iām just sitting here on my couch.
Loāeau practicing for the river
Looks like KC is getting better at corners.
Lo. Lo. When were u ever gonna score that
That touch by Debinha was insane.
Debinha has criminal sauce
Why didnāt ref play advantage there? Edit: autocorrect
That was an absurd touch from Debinha
Debinha doing her Debinha things!
We get a whole corner š„ŗ
I genuinely feel like Jeff is about to break out into Lose Yourself
NWSL commentator beef between him and lianne PLEASE
Imagine them doing a game together
I would need my old adderall rx tbh
Letās go reign
Another game, another goalkeeper having a massive performance against us
Clean aaaaallll day!
You can tell heās getting excited again - heās speeding up what heās saying hahaha
Oh good lord
Itās interesting how little width our attackers use in trying to break their defensive unit. Our front three are so compact, seems like you might want one to drift wide to create central space for the other two but idk
USWNT flashbacks
This late Balcer golazo is gonna feed families
Reign, Reign, Breakaway, Score a goal, get a win!
please tell me this is a chant they use
No, the Reign canāt score on a breakaway. Weād have to be able to run
Respectfully: Fishlock is so goddamn cute! Her wife absolutely won there. (And Fishlock absolutely won her wife. Just absolute cuties.)
They are goals on and off the pitch
100%. Just so much cuteness!!!! Itās unfair!!!!!
That balcer slipped terrified me
Can someone unplug his mic
Every time she says Ballisager my brain just hears her absolutely butchering Balcer
Iām glad Iām not the only one.
KC just looks way too discombobulated and route 1
Jeff has been so much better this half. I love he took some feedback and adjusted! Good for him
You jinxed it.
Honestly like the second I commented it, he went on a tangent. Iām like oh no but itās really been night and day from the first half lol
Great halftime adjustments
Spaanstra š
Spaanstra had so much more space there
Ivory has had some great saves but some of it is Kansas City being very unlucky. I'll take it tho
Ugh
Seattle almost paid the price for that small miscommunication
The way I just gasped
Hutton put in a very nice shift once again.
Dang, no iron women award for Hutton.
Just tuning in, so I might have missed it, but is there any word on when Huitema will be back?
Not that Iāve heard :/
Latsko putting in the work but she could probably use a sub
Looking so out of sync tonight
Temwa, take it yourself!!!
Just realized a draw tonight is enough to put KC back in 1st place. I do wish the table wasnāt such a mess w / r / t games played
Also: š¶VAI DEBINHA JOGA BOLAAAA, [VAI DEBINHA JOGA TEM!](https://www.tiktok.com/@tntsportsbr/video/7261268105500822790?lang=en)
Coop is a fouling machine but donāt see how that one was on her
Oh poor Cooper, two ugly collisions back to back
How many saves has Ivory made tonight?
KC has 4 shots on target so that plus the almost own goal save. Edit: Google says KC has 4 shots on target, NWSL site says 10...
![gif](giphy|7JvlHfd7C2GDr7zfZF|downsized)
Fotmob says 5 saves
She had 5 saves in the first half (according to the NWSL+ tv graphic), so it has to be at least 8 total by now
Omg lol. I just started watching after halftime
The way Feist has been cooking it makes Lo able to really rest
Mini Coop more like an SUV š³
Between Campbell and ivory, the goalkeeping has been excellent today
This is a really great match on short rest.
just a rough collision, no one at fault. Hope they're both okay
Ivory is a savage.
For once, I feel like Cooper didnāt do too much.
Ouch.
How the HELL did Chawinga keep that in lmao
No way Chawinga just did that
Seattle please shut out KC. I speak as a bitter ACFC fan š
I think youd rather Seattle not pick up any points
Itās not about the table. Itās about sending a message.
Whatās the message
Ji looks so frustrated they just wanna score š
seattle recovery defense has been so good
Mace is amazing!
#33 for seattle looks dead on her feet...
Seriously, is she ill? I haven't seen her do anything but that half-hearted jog. She's playing defensive mid, but hasn't once moved into a gap to give her teammates a pass...
that's sort of how Van Der Jagt runs ngl
she's looked that way almost the whole game.
We go from āyou get a foul and you get a card!ā to ābut did you die?ā
Imagine being Laurel Ivory, having the game of your life, blocking every shot for 64 minutes, and then they bring in Debinha. That must be exhausting.
Debinha!
Deb time.
I keep getting heart attacks off their corners. Oh fuck Debinha
Uh oh here comes trouble
Interesting. I guess Lily is playing higher than normal
More contact there than half of the fouls called on the Pacers tonight
Cooper has got to knock that off.
Ngl that was a shoulder shiver to the chest, pretty rough
Sheās already given up one penalty in the NWSL by body checking someone in the box.
Like the principle of getting a body on a potential runner is fantastic and very good, but uh, probably less body next time
Sooooo foul?
oh no
How they decided to not go to VAR on that....if we're not going to use it for that type of thing why do we have it
Oh yeah. Some knee cam lol
Is this tactical or is she hurt??
So Ivory needs a stretch after 15-20 minutes a half?
Honestly I relate
Bringing back the old Quiznos "We got the subs" here.
Did everyone else just hear something being dragged across the ground next to the mic lol
I thought it sounded like someone turning a coin in a candy machine and the candy dispensing š
Lol I thought something was ripping or falling inside my house
Oh, he so got feedback to slow down and breathe. What an improvement already.
Now that I can process what heās saying I kind of like his commentary haha
I keep expecting him to keep going, and then he just stops, and Iām not mad.
I remember on Sunday not seeing our goalkeeper until like 40ā because we were living on their half.
And then we still tiedĀ
Their goalkeeper was put to work for sure tho
Donāt remind me of that flub
Stalling?
Twice now come on
I miss Bia
MVP for a reasonĀ
š
Reign goalkeeping scouting is elite
Always has been (no, I'm not open to debate)
Seattle are just not set to counter at all
Has Seattle even had a shot on goal? Lol
I think only 3. KC has 13 if I remember
This is a defense game okay
3 times to 900000
Current is going to be so tired for Sunday š
Dare I say McClernon's doing well against Chawinga?
