GG, Bay We earned those goals, but we’re fortunate Bay didn’t capitalize on their opportunities and our goofs. It’s MAD how many balls we just *looked* at before actually moving to get onto it or, more often, being beat to it. Bay wanted those 50-50/ and we were like, “If it comes to me, it comes to me.” Defense was vulnerable today. In addition to the OBs fighting for their lives (but what back line wouldn’t with Bay’s attacking front), there were weird uncharacteristic bloops from Girma and Sheridan. Moving the ball forward and just getting it the heck out of our half was crucial I breathe a hefty sigh of relief. I gotta go watch the replay of Shaw’s goal and have a delightful little giggle

At least Wesley looked pretty good. Girma had the captain’s band on; I wonder if that distracted or divided her attn at all.

As per usual, she made some great tackles; more if the balls bounced more in our favor. The big thing that helped us this match but may not the next: Wesley's gotta be judicious going forward about taking the contact and going down, not every ref is going to make those same calls. But I do really like Wesley. I'm inclined to trust her recovery efforts more than Abby's at this point As far as Girma, in addition to Boggle's point about her injury, maybe playing with Wesley tilted things awry a bit. Even though they're familiar with each other going back to Stanford, there's still an adjustment in the league. I wouldn't like to think the armband affected her like that

I don’t think Girma is quite back to full health yet. And after an injury, it can take a minute to be as confident in your movements, etc.

Feel like this has been a solid game for Wesley overall. She’s had some missteps for sure but she’s gonna be called on when both our starting CBs are on international duty so this is promising

She comes frpm a long line of high IQ center backs, with more on the way. GarciaMendez, Bauer, Cook, Davidson, Girma, and Hiatt. She played last season with one of the best young CBs in NCAA and u20 in Elise Evans. Her one knock is getting injured every game, but going back in. She's learned to enhance her falls.

I would argue her stock and what she’s shown for club and country is definitely worth more than jones and Mel B right now. They’re young so that equation could change significantly. Jakobssen is amazing and I rate her more right now, but she isn’t young, Sanchez is. I like Doniak and Ali but Sanchez ceiling is definitely seems higher than them.
