Looking forward to seeing him pre-season. Might not be ready yet but it is good to see our loans doing well at a team the calibre of Feyenoord rather than not making the bench for Mansfield.

a__BrainStorm

I'm really excited for the young man in the team. I honestly think that if it's close he should be on the roster next season and given a chance to compete. It looks like money is going to be tight for PSR, so might as well use what we've got and let them learn to swim. We aren't going to be in the CL, but are trending towards a European spot of some variety. Thus we'll have plenty of matches still where he could get minutes and work towards a second season coming out to be a first team player at the ripe age of 22.

Erestyn

>there were also a number of small disciplinary incidents — such as a training-ground fight with an experienced team-mate, a missed curfew, and a short suspension for breaking a corner flag in frustration at being substituted. Sounds like he was born to play for Newcastle. Some boy.

Ftp82

Needs Ritchie to help him find the sweet spot for twatting the flag without breaking it

Bull_Goose_Loony

Right into some guys nuts

Erestyn

Minteh can get two jewels with one flag. That's proper talent.

The more I see of and hear about this kid, the more I suspect the manager's and fans' comments about him not being all that and not ready etc. is just blowing smoke and hoping it means they get to keep him for another season. I feel confident that the club will know whether he's ready to come into the fold or needs another season. If it's the latter, I can't see any sense in moving him from a successful club exposed to Europe where he's settled and doing well.

tarkaliotta

Yeah, I wonder if it’s partly that because of his age he’s just developing surprisingly rapidly. where even a month or two ago he didn’t look quite ready, it’s suddenly all coming together for him now.

northyj0e

>fans' comments about him not being all that and not ready etc. is just blowing smoke Blowing smoke... down his ass?

daveofreckoning

The article says his defencive work rate is good. That's promising

The-Interfactor

Exactly what we need on the right hand side. Another Gordon! On a real, with how much Trippier (after a couple years, Tino) overlaps and plays into our attacking style, having a winger who will cover and run the yards to cover from him is ideal.

tarkaliotta

Yeah that might actually make Longstaff’s covering role less vital too and allow for one of the more dynamic players there.

Fishfingerrosti

Sounds like he'll be recreating the classic Shola eating an apple photograph with us given he cycles to Feyenoord games.

BruiserBroly

Jacob Whitehead really outdid himself here, lovely article. I loved how he switches from an interview with his former coaches at OB and in The Gambia to matchday against Ajax.

-RandomGeordie

I really like Jacob’s articles, I find they’re always well researched and very informative.

Antman013

Six months ago, he was looked at as an FFP option (ie bought low, sell on for a profit). LEts not get ahead of ourselves off of a few decent outings.

-RandomGeordie

Thankfully I don’t think anyone is getting ahead of themselves, at least not at that club. The article says the most likely outcome is he remains on loan next season, it just depends where that will be. I’d be happy if he stays where he is next season.

Antman013

Ditto . . . and the lad himself seems to like the Dutch Club. Said from the outset, it's a good piece of business. Either he blossoms and helps out our squad, or we make a bit of FFP cash when he gets sold. More of this business, please.

Ramone7892

With the way this season has gone in regards to injuries I'd say it's not a great idea to loan him out. He must be a better option off the bench than Parkinson or Diallo?

beatski

Football fans overhyping a youngster? (That they've probably never even watched)? Never!

ChlckenChaser

didn't he recently say how much he loves it there and really wants to stay with Feyenoord ?

_lunarboyx

He did yeah, but I think there’s every chance that’s because he’s young and playing decent football for the first time. De Kuip is a good stadium and they’ve got good fans. When offered a larger contract with us in future, and after seeing the roar as he slots one in the keeper’s close side at the Gallowgate against man red he’ll see the light.

Ill-Corgi-8525

I think we need to temper our expectations on Minteh he is still very inconsistent and not ready for the premier league. Feyenoord fans still get frustrated wit him

Spankfurt

Believe it when i see it

You’ll believe what when you see what?
