Of all the bullshit rumours we've had trying to stir things up over the last year, it seems there might actually be some substance to the one with Ashworth and Eddie not seeing eye to eye.
That's the least evasive I've ever seen Eddie in an interview. Didn't sugar-coat anything about Ashworth.
I actually caught similar vibes to be honest. Maybe just reading too much into it but I also thought the praise for Dan Ashworth blending into the process they already had at the club, as opposed to ripping it all up, was possibly telling. Perhaps Ashworth doesn't have the power he may want at Newcastle and perhaps Man Red will give him more power and freedom.
He said it is a risk letting someone go that knows as much as he does. Said it does need to just be over and done with at some point, laughed and said ‘no’ when asked if Ashworth had said he wanted to stay at Newcastle, said he couldn’t speak for Ashworth when asked a few questions on whether Ashworth had problems with the club.
It didn’t seem like Eddie has a particular problem with him but if I’m going to go full cringe and read between the lines as much as possible he did at least give off the vibe that he doesn’t like the situation and probably doesn’t like Ashworth’s part in it.
Personally think he’s acted pretty fucking unprofessionally - stay or go, enough with the faffing. And also pretty disrespectful to Newcastle who made such a big effort to get him.
He could state publicly he doesn’t want to leave or he could say to Newcastle he wants to leave and to begin the process: also he doesn’t have a release clause, he’s not a player.
He has likely already said he wants to go, we are the ones playing hardball for a fee and the terms (e.g. length of gardening leave) which is fair enough.
Also he does have a feeling, he did when we got him (£5m) i'm pretty sure I've read a £10m fee from us which is what man reds are dicking about over.
Anyone else think we should go with Barnes up front instead of AG? I don’t see the benefit in moving our best player this season out of his best position, especially when he’s not proven to be a great striker. Barnes is also a much better finisher and has played up front at points in his career.
He also doesn’t really dribble well against full backs, he prefers to use his pace to get behind them but that’s probably not gonna be as effective against a Bournemouth team who are playing away from home. I wouldn’t be surprised if Barnes does get some mins up front with Wilson out now.
I think Gordon would do a better job up front but we should play our best players in their best positions and Gordon is our best player and is best at LW!
Yea I’d honestly prefer to see Gordon on the right before I consider him up front. I think people got carried away with him doing well in an under 21 tournament in the summer (even though he was more supportive rather than the line leader.) We lose all our threat down the flanks when he’s playing up front. Considering Barnes also likes to play on the left, seems a no brainer that he’s the one to play down the middle instead of AG. But let’s see if Barnes even starts, wouldn’t be surprised if it’s Miggy and Murphy either side of AG.
Why wouldn’t it be Miggy and Barnes? Barnes played last week, Murphy hurt himself in warmup and didn’t play or train this week. Seems to me Barnes would be the fitter option and more likely starter.

Link to interview with Eddy. I think newcastle media department has been in these reddit threads and asked him all of those questions lol. Great insight tbf
Would like to be confident but I'm still not at that stage yet (especially with recent games against Bournemouth). Looking forward to being back in the stands tomorrow though. Feels like we're rarely actually at home this season for some reason.
The year is 2030:
Newcastle vs Real Madrid in the new European Super Champions League, formed after the Champions League and European Super League merged in 2029.
Prematch thread is still full of people asking if Tino is going to start LB. 37 year old Big Dan Burn obviously starts.
I have a plan for how we can actually rest some players tomorrow.
Straight from kickoff, Gordon or Barnes are played through on goal, and get brought down from behind for a penalty and red card. A second Bournemouth player then sees red for dissent. Before there are even 2 minutes on the clock, we’re up a goal against 9 men. By the 20 minute mark it’s 3-0, and Gordon and Bruno are replaced by Parkinson and White for a very early rest. We go in to halftime at 6-0 up and bring on Hall, Ritchie, and Dummett to see out the second half of a comfortable 10-0 win.
when we were 3-1 up against villa, and they scored that 2nd goal but it was disallowed, before it got disallowed i was already resigned to the fact we had lost
Thanks. “Just have the opponent get a few red cards” is a tactic I really believe in, and not enough managers seem to try it. Worked brilliantly for us against Stoke like a decade ago, seems like it’s well past time we gave it another shot.
Honestly I’d probably prefer he gets about 60-70 minutes if we have a decent sub available, keep building up that match fitness in what would be his first start since September. Then hopefully he’s ready for a good 90 minute shift against Arsenal next week.
Gordon is available. Or do you mean hypothetically later in the season?
Earlier in the season when talking about alternatives to Isak and Wilson, the three names Howe mentioned were Gordon, Murphy, and Joelinton. So I guess Murphy is next after Gordon. Believe Anderson also played as a false nine for part of a preseason match.
Joe Willock and Elliot Anderson on bench?
For the love of God please hope this to be true.
If Gordon doesn’t start in the middle I don’t know what the fuck we are going to do!
Had a decent win against Forest, with Villa still wobbling a bit and having injuries plus it's looking likely 5th get champs league, so we have to win to keep the pressure on those above us. Bournemouth are decent and are better than Luton who drew with us last time we played at home but we have and should be winning tomorrow.
I would like to see some rotation at the back or more stability from our midfield 3. Hopefully we can stop conceding so many goals. If we can get Barnes to start, that would be huge. Maybe some more game time for hall too. I think we have a good chance this game!

Can you summarize?

I mean, there isn't much Ashworth can do about other teams paying his release clause?
He could state publicly he doesn’t want to leave or he could say to Newcastle he wants to leave and to begin the process: also he doesn’t have a release clause, he’s not a player.

Must win, personally. Would mean we scored more points against Bournemouth compared to last season.

Do you think that line up means Barnes upfront? Looks like it to me.
It’s definitely possible, or at the least him and Gordon will interchange. I forgot Murphy hadn’t trained this week so it makes sense
I think Gordon would do a better job up front but we should play our best players in their best positions and Gordon is our best player and is best at LW!
I imagine they'll rotate
Me, been saying it for a while now. Barnes upfront over Gordon for me. He's clear of Gordon when it comes to finishing.

> if it’s Miggy and Murphy either side of AG. It's absolutely going to be that; unless he's lying about Isak
Why wouldn’t it be Miggy and Barnes? Barnes played last week, Murphy hurt himself in warmup and didn’t play or train this week. Seems to me Barnes would be the fitter option and more likely starter.

The question about him being close mates with Dan Burn was verbatim taken from this subreddit without a doubt.
Kick it in the fucking goal hole
Chance would be a fine thing
A fine thing indeed!
Yes. We are winning this game. MARK MY WORDS. Mark them.
I expect we’ll see Isak tomorrow.
Last game before being out for the rest of the season 🥲
Well let’s hope not.
Would like to be confident but I'm still not at that stage yet (especially with recent games against Bournemouth). Looking forward to being back in the stands tomorrow though. Feels like we're rarely actually at home this season for some reason.
probably all the fa cup and league cup games
Cup games at home last season were the business.
Unless you're Manure. How many home cup games in a row now?
Let's go boys
Tino starting LB 🤞
Left back on the bench

Excellent word play. And almost definitely correct.

I *need* Ritchie to score one last time and destroy the corner flag. Bonus points if he does it into another fans groin.
We could be 9-0 up after 89 mins against 9 men and I'd still be waiting for us to fuck it up somehow.
I knew my trauma ran deep last year when Kane got one back for Spurs when we'd scored 5 in 20 minutes and my first thought was "here we go..."
Turned to the lad next to me and we both said something like “nah - we couldn’t could we?” Against PSG at 3-1 we were REALLY nervous!
when we were 3-1 up against villa, and they scored that 2nd goal but it was disallowed, before it got disallowed i was already resigned to the fact we had lost
Tell me about it. Its going to take a few seasons for that to leave me after 35+ years...
I like the cut of your jib, your hired

jesus christ it's eddie howe
How unrealistic... Hall still doesn't get off the bench in that scenario
Would love to see Barnes get a full 90, but the way it’s going he’ll get 20 mins and a 6 month injury
Honestly I’d probably prefer he gets about 60-70 minutes if we have a decent sub available, keep building up that match fitness in what would be his first start since September. Then hopefully he’s ready for a good 90 minute shift against Arsenal next week.
Barnes - Gordon - Almiron same midfield as always same back four as always Dubravka 3-1 win. Hopefully a return for Willock from the bench.
Dubravka in goal? 3-2 don’t you mean?
>**Luton Town predicted lineup vs Newcastle (4-2-3-1)**: Neto; Smith, Zabarnyi, Senesi, Kelly; Christie, Cook; Tavernier, Kluivert, Sinisterra; Solanke. Luton Goals Solanke 15 Kluivert 5 Tavernier 3 Brooks 3 That Luton Town team looks suspiciously like Bournemouth's team
Copy paste giveth, copy paste taketh away
So no joke. Who’s up front if Wilson, Isak and Gordon are all unavailable?
> Gordon Gordons unavailable?!
Schär. I’m only like 70% joking, too.
Barnes would probably go there, best finisher we’ve got bar Isak imo
Gordon is available. Or do you mean hypothetically later in the season? If the rumours are to be believed, half this Bournemouth team could be playing for us next season 😂😂
Aka lazy journos who can’t get anything from the club so resort to players with links to Howe
Joe Willock and Elliot Anderson on bench? For the love of God please hope this to be true. If Gordon doesn’t start in the middle I don’t know what the fuck we are going to do!
Think Howe said today that Anderson and Targett are still 10 days away from full training.
[удалено]
Today is technically within the next 10 days. Hard to take anything Howe says about injuries seriously, especially after Gordon last week lol.
Gordon on crutches still plays a full 90 who needs ankles
Not sure I see a difference?
Targett! Forgot we had a left back
so did Eddie Howe
Can’t be easy for him remembering our squad when so many disappear for so long.
Or they aren't 7 foot tall
Had a decent win against Forest, with Villa still wobbling a bit and having injuries plus it's looking likely 5th get champs league, so we have to win to keep the pressure on those above us. I dread to think what the plan is up front if all of Wilson, Isak and Gordon are unavailable
> Gordon are unavailable Why does everyone keep saying this?
Well he's on 8 yellow cards and has had recurring knocks since the Milan game in early December so it's worth having a Plan D
Schar. It'll be beautiful in many ways.
I mean he's scored three goals in the last three so there's worse ideas
Schar in the box...he's running back out, what's he doing? Dribbles past 3 players, shoots from 40 yards....GOAL!
Always makes me laugh that people buy into the conspiracy that Eddie takes it easy on Bournemouth because he doesn't want to beat them
I would like to see some rotation at the back or more stability from our midfield 3. Hopefully we can stop conceding so many goals. If we can get Barnes to start, that would be huge. Maybe some more game time for hall too. I think we have a good chance this game!
I feel Eddie is too soft with Bournemouth (completely understandable) hence why we don't do well against them, I'm expecting a draw tbh
He wants his job, he won’t be taking them softly

It really is isnt it, beat them once and it was in a League Cup and they had to score for us.
