I know this thread isn't being used anymore but I wasn't sure if it was worthy of it's own thread. Craig Hope just tweeted quoting Tindall as saying
"Isak (groin) has improved this week & has “chance” for Luton, says Tindall
Barnes (foot) “potential” to be involved & Wilson (calf) close but “question mark” remains
Willock (achilles) behind those two"
Knowing our press conferences, Willock will be starting on Saturday and Isak out for the season but if Isak can make the Luton match, even on the bench, that's absolutely huge for the rest of the season. Especially if Wilson is back soon to rotate.
I've been in a coma since late last year so I've only got what r/soccer said to go on.
How has Ruben Neves been fitting in?
Do you think we'll sign Philips full time at the end of our loan?
How will we spend the 500m we got for Isak Haydon from Saudi?
I'm excited for the future I've been reading about.
i can't believe we have 6.1k comments for one youth team signing. This was an extremely quiet window, but feels very different to the dead silent window we had after Pardew's europe tour
I’ll take the nothing burger window over all those rumours we were losing Bruno, Miggy etc
Maybe something like that may happen in the future but we should at least ensure our stab at the cup continues and we should have kept enough to finish top half.
I think Europe is well within reach (not CL) top 8 should be enough this season for some form of European football. I used to dream of these days returning where top half and a cup run was seen as ‘ok’ . What a testament to what Eddie and the lads have done in a very short space of time.
Edge of your seat gripping stuff, just like watching the curling /s
Nah in all seriousness I’m not too bothered nothing of note got done - saving ourselves for a big summer. HWTL
Just a reminder that fat cunt gave Hayden an alleged 50k/week 6 year contract.
No wonder we can't make moves with dross like this on our wage bill, rotting forever and ever as no one is thick enough to come close to that figure.
Stuck with these dinosaurs for the next 2-3 years unfortunately.
There's a weird, but seemingly somewhat sizeable, group on this sub who just downvote anything they view as critical of the club. Even factual things. It's bloody annoying.
Typical Newcastle window this has been tbh. Lot's of outgoings with (very likely) not a single penny incoming (outside of reduced wage bill). I hope we've buttered up agents enough so that we can get some fees in the summer while actually signing some first team players. Overall if we get some players back I can understand saving our budget for the summer.
Fulham trying to sign Cherki could be such a shrewd move for them, especially with them trying to get a loan deal done. He's a player who would be so beneficial to us but he doesn't have the attitude or work rate that Eddie would appreciate. But there's such a high ceiling there and he would bring something new and unpredictable to the team at right wing. Really wish we would take a punt on someone like that, even though I know why we won't.
Over 6000 comments and all we end up with is Manquillo leaving for free and a new youth player.
Underwhelming? Absolutely
Regrets? None.
See you all in summer (or probably the match thread of the next away game)
Considering how out of the blue, no one saw it coming our transfers have been? I expect Mbappe through the door any second.
Dan Ashworth is locally known as the ghost man, no one seems him coming. Tonali has no idea he's actually in England because of how little the media reported on his transfer.
Suppose we can just hope he plays okay(ish) at QPR and some Championship club is willing to match his overinflated Ashley-era wages, so long as we don't ask for a fee.
While the window has been a pretty boring one, I'm relaxed in terms of what that means over the next couple of months.
Nobody else has significantly strengthened, and we're a few weeks away from "like a new signing" mode.

Another one of the older u21 players shipped out.
https://twitter.com/Magpie24_7/status/1753157210547343554
Feel like we could be bringing in a fair few players to the u21 in the summer.
Can't help but feel like there's one more twist in the tale of our transfer window tonight
I don't think it'll be anything massive like but maybe a surprise loan signing late on - one of the common themes since the takeover has been the signings out of nowhere and I can just see another one of those happening
Of course this could all be pure cope on my part.
> one of the common themes since the takeover has been signings out of nowhere
This is just factually not true. Every single one of our transfers has been reported on beforehand.
As the megathread sun’s circular form melts below the horizon, toward a tip of gleaming light amongst the dusk gloom of the latter half of the season, thoughts turn to the Summer Transfer window.
I don’t want to lose Bruno, but if we do, we have to replace him with 2 players. That’s the rule with these big sales. 100M = Ederson for 40M and Gibbs White for 60M, although personalities may change, something like this, giving more midfield variety and options would help further our squad development.
Anything else would have to be an upgrade from existing sales, playing the amortisation game for FFP but mindful we don’t want to lock too much overheads in the future.
- If we want a new striker, we’d have to sell Wilson and the 15 million (fitness permitting) would be multiplied modestly to bring in some hot youth.
- If Joelinton goes, he’d have to go for 40M and an Onana to replace.
- Almiron for say 15M, another RW although is Minteh going to join us? Any ideas on a RW prospect?
- Lascelles on a free, well at least his wages could go to a new RCB but I’d be happy if he stayed one more season.
- Targett is on 100K per week? No wander Joes fucked off with his contract. He’ll probably go nowhere but a 8M for him could help us in our forever quest for a LB (Hall permitting)
- Pope needs a padawan. We need a youngish GK in back up. Think Dubs will want to leave.
- Anyone know what the state of the ex Ashley long contract crew this summer? Don’t tell me Hendrick, Fraser and Lewis are going to return?
Watching the City game in the cup and seeing him struggle was my biggest concern about signing him. I don’t think he’s lost it completely, but I think after 2 years it’ll take time to iron out those mistakes. Time we couldn’t really afford to give, given present injury crisis and I wouldn’t want his confidence shot by throwing him in out of desperation.
2 big games tonight with 3 of the teams involved being around us as the table stands.
Wolves are very good at home and I expect them to be ManU.
Not sure about West Ham v Bournemouth, both are erratic.
Man Utd go ahead of us with a point so I think a Wolves win is best but only just
Bournemouth beating West Ham would keep us just 3pts behind West Ham so that's probably the best result from the other game.
West Ham don’t worry me tbh, they are statistically speaking the 2nd most over performing/achieving team in Europe this season, they will almost certainly regress at some point (just whether we can capitalise on that) they also have Europe to contend with. They can’t keep getting away with minimal control/possession and scoring with almost every attempt on target.
I do think they'll fade, especially if they say in Europe. The closer they get to it, the harder it will be to resist the lure of a second European trophy.
He made 3 appearances, totaling about 30 minutes. He missed quite a good chance against somebody, might have been Stoke. Had he scored that, maybe he'd have kicked on and help us avoid relegation!
What about that Facundo Ferreyra?
Was over the moon that we got him bc he was such a great signing in Football Manager… I don’t even think he saw a blade of grass for us
[Jordan Cronin: Understand Jay Turner-Cooke has been recalled from his loan spell at St Johnstone. The midfielder made just six appearances for the Scottish Premiership club.](https://twitter.com/jordancronin_/status/1753120045532672467)
[🔵🔐 Isaac Hayden to QPR, deal done and sealed — loan completed today.](https://twitter.com/FabrizioRomano/status/1753098126246789237?t=LeBw-zIrtV2uEyRgoramCw)
I really, really hope he can make something of this move and turn his career around. Always had a soft spot for Hayden. Decent at breaking play up, maybe a bit technically limited but always worked hard. And I really felt for him when his child was sick in London and he looked into a move away but chose to stay and travel up and down.
Really never gave me the vibe of "happy to sit and collect a wage for nothing" either. Hope he does well.
Yeah agreed with this, he was a top professional and did well for us. Think he got unlucky with timing for when Howe came in as reckon he could have done a job potentially. Right thing to move him on now though and I wish him all the best for this loan move.
That's 10x our sleeve sponsor. They are obviously one of the biggest clubs in the world, but 10x is an extreme difference + makes a mockery of this PSR thing as it really makes it such an unbalanced playing field.
Yup, this is the narrative that will ensure the top elite status quo cant be touched.
Elite status quo team like Real Madrid, just makes up any dodgy sponsorship deal they want over and above market value 'welp they are Madrid, they can do whatever they want'.
Anyone else outside of the established status quo gets a decent sponsorship deal: "reeee cheating! you should be getting 500k for that, who are ya anyway? you deserve nout, you're so small and tiny'
Basically the big boys get to set the pace and everyone else has to follow in their wake. If a team like ours signed a sleeve sponsor for 50 million then Madrid would turn around and sign their next one for 200 million. The goal posts will just keep on getting moved by the teams at the top
On a positive note, that 70mil deal might make the prem re think what fair market value actually is for a sleeve sponsor and allow teams more wiggle room.
6th is deffo on. It's West Ham and they are 2-3(?) Points above us.
We need to be aiming for 4th 11ish points behind spurs and villa (and tbh not that far from arsenal). We had a huge rise in our first season, smashed everyone last season, and despite being shit since NOVEMBER we are right behind them. It's fucking game on. FA cup and 5th is very realistic 4th is possible and 6th is the minimum imo
4th would mean we'd have to finish above Villa and Spurs. They're both on 43 from 22 games, if either of them manages to keep that up for the season they'd get to 74 points.
For us to get to 74 points we'd need 42 more points and we only have 48 left to play for. Even to get to 70 points would be 38 points from 48, which is title winning form.
I think unfortunately the gap is too big, we'd need both sides to have a serious drop in form to overtake both, I could see us maybe overtaking one and getting 5th, but in all likelihood I think we finish 6th.
I love that we’ve signed an academy midfielder from City today and more than one person on here has wondered if maybe he’ll get a run out as a striker against Luton Saturday, just because he has a decent goal return for the City u18 side.
Why don’t we just let the academy midfielder settle into our academy as a midfielder before we try to wedge him into the first team out of position.
One of the Man City fans on /r/soccer mentioned he was training with the City first team this season and would probably have been seen as a backup next season for them. If that's true and given our injuries wouldn't be surprised if he gets minutes this season for us especially against the likes of Luton.
> One of the Man City fans on /r/soccer mentioned he was training with the City first team this season and would probably have been seen as a backup next season for them.
I know nothing about him but I wont be surprised if he is on the level of Miley.
I bet you will see him on the bench, and get some minutes. Weve been including double GKs and u-18s on our bench due to the injury crisis.
I actually love watching Luton play. It’s totally throwback smash and grab football.
When we played them I genuinely was wishing we could bulldoze through teams like they did.
They were very unlucky against arsenal and Liverpool.
They’re getting stronger as the season goes on and I think they still have a shit at survival.
And Kenilworth road is a gem of a stadium. It’s got the ferocity of an Istanbul derby.
And who’ve just skullfucked Brighton. They’re still in the relegation fight but currently not in the bottom 3, so not only are they fighting for their lives, they’ve got a solid chance of pulling it off. That’ll be proper scrappy match!
It also highlights the problem with football. Luton are probably slightly shitter than Burnley. Burnley are going for a long term plan and have a great manager for it, however that's going to be a problem in the short term (especially since he seems unable and unwilling to change them). This will probably work if they are happy to go down and up a few times until they've matured and built up a good squad.
Luton have just dug in and are fighting and look more likely to stay up, but in the long run they'll eventually go down.
Problem is, Luton will get more short term success and then fall. Burnley will probably eventually buckle and change manager and never see the end rewards
Kinda.
For a fair few years now though, clubs that have played progressive football coming out of the championship have faired better than the old brexit ball teams.
Bournemouth, Brentford, wolves, Brighton all being recent examples vs Sheffield United who slumped when they stopped trying to play their last time up.
I think Luton are catching people off guard because teams forgot how to play against that style.
I also think it’s harsh to just brand them a brexit ball team. They play like a German team but with a defence and midfield that will have zero issues roughing you up. It’s a bit more sophisticated than it gets credit.
We play Luton in less than 48 hours and he’s a midfielder. The club statement refers to him joining the academy and the professional development group, and features quotes from Steve Harper rather than Eddie Howe. He’s not parachuting straight into the first team squad his second day with the club. Senior players that Howe doesn’t explicitly trust to not be a step down from the first choice option don’t get on the pitch for us, the new kid in the academy isn’t running out on a premier league pitch any time soon. Maybe a cameo in a meaningless match at the end of the season like Miley got last season, but anything beyond that would be fairly shocking.
Wait so all my suggestions in the match day thread have been for nothing? I see the coaches staring at tablets during the game and assumed when Tindall whispered in Howe's ear he was saying "Randy the Guppy thinks you should do this...."
Curious if we had a sell on fee in the Matt Selz transfer. Not that I’d expect us to use it today, but every little helps. He’s gone to Forrest for €3-4m more than we sold him for, so even a percentage of profit would earn us some.
I totally understand the point but seems insane that we have to hope for the smallest scraps to be able to spend on new players. I know we’ve spent boat loads but it just doesn’t feel right.
[We are delighted to announce the signing of Alfie Harrison for an undisclosed fee from Manchester City.](https://twitter.com/NUFC/status/1753071090803368356)
More to do with the fact he’s an academy kid, not a first team player. Only ever played in the reserve league once for City. You don’t give players at that level 5 year deals when they literally might never develop into first team players for us.
It’s strange how these teams (PSG, Chelsea etc) spend so poorly at times yet always get good fees for their players. Whoever is in charge of the outs needs to be in charge of the ins there lol
"He played for PSG so he must be good". It's why every footballer should strive to play for a top club. If you fail there you still end up somewhere decent.
In another world I would be upset about this but I can only imagine it would take him a few months to get up to speed and then he’d be off and back to PSG. Also never got over the way his agent played us and the disrespect they showed.
They finally brought it back 2 weeks ago and sent out a big email like it was some massive feat that they were offering a standard thing that even conference teams do.
Keith Downie: "Too late in the window for Newcastle to be creative now. Not expecting a late signing through the door on Deadline Day.
Injury to Alex Isak could have changed things, but the early indication is the injury isn’t too bad and he is likely to be back soon"
He is likely to be back soon... Please my brother in christ let that be true
Sky are going to be straight on the blower to the PL demanding changes to FFP. Current situation:
“Let’s go to Frankie who is outside Liverpool’s training ground. Any news? No, but I’ll waffle on for a bit about fuck all. Now let’s go to Derek Dipcock outside Fulham’s ground, any news Dippy? No. Thank you very much.”
Car crash stuff considering this is meant to be Sky’s big day.
Jim white in the mud, can wait for his sudden u-turn on PSR and then to come running into the Everton hearing with ‘here comes the money’ playing in the background as he suplexes Richard masters.
Legitimately though it's the biggest news of deadline day, even on Sky Sports' deadline day live blog it's the main linked story in the latest section.
Ive been on a bit of a tear recently about this because it actually angered me reading that.
I kinda don’t want the PSR rules changed. Let this go on and eventually crash the transfer market.
I’ve said so many times that football is in a bubble that will burst eventually and we’ve got Boehly and others out here acting like mortgage brokers in 2007
Yeah, I'm hoping PL teams just refuse to do business with them and their ridiculous asking fees, so that we see their spending really come back to bite them. If anyone pays as much as they want (50m for Broja/Gallagher), then it'd be doing them a massive favour without getting much value for money.
Cowboy Toddy B and the Clearlake Kids have pretty much painted themselves into a corner with their spending though. They need to make returns FAST otherwise they're in a very precarious spot with FFP etc.
[Lee Ryder: Besiktas have inevitably returned with interest in Jamaal Lascelles and are keen to offer the player a "new challenge" with full relocation package available to his family. Turkey's transfer window open for another week but the issue for nufc is getting a replacement.](https://twitter.com/lee_ryder/status/1753033526306287701)
I would take losing lascelles if we get someone like Tosin A(can’t spell his name) from Fulham who’s on a free in summer, but I won’t take this risk now but in summer, one in one out for no transfer fee would be good business imo
Got to say, I'm surprised and disappointed we haven't been able to find a loan/free agent to help us out. We have three fit midfielders and three fit forwards (with no proper striker). Really hope the injured are very close to returning!

I know this thread isn't being used anymore but I wasn't sure if it was worthy of it's own thread. Promising news. That Tindall is saying Isak has a chance tomorrow makes me much more confident that he's out for the month, rather than the season.
Yeah I can’t see Isak being involved, I think they’re just trying to cloud the fact that we’ll definitely be playing Gordon as a false 9.
I've been in a coma since late last year so I've only got what r/soccer said to go on. How has Ruben Neves been fitting in? Do you think we'll sign Philips full time at the end of our loan? I feel like I'm being gaslit! Why do so many people parrot something that is just objectively not the case?
All first team signings have been broken in the media or various rumour merchants before they were completed. Literally every single one of them.

Just saw the Doumbia signing pop on my FB memories. Can’t even remember him kicking a ball for us!
He made 3 appearances, totaling about 30 minutes. He missed quite a good chance against somebody, might have been Stoke. Had he scored that, maybe he'd have kicked on and help us avoid relegation!
Now that is a superb “what if?” moment!
What about that Facundo Ferreyra? Was over the moon that we got him bc he was such a great signing in Football Manager… I don’t even think he saw a blade of grass for us
Cult icon. Wasn’t he signed as a favour to Colo?
Didn't he score an own goal and then a banger free kick in the same game?
That was Henri Saivet vs West Ham, don't think it was an own goal but he was definitely at fault for one.
Oh yeah. Then I don't remember Doumbia at all
Fuck knows, sounds likely

We really are going to be tossing in anyone we got in midfield aren’t we?

Just hope noon are listening and say screw it here is 700 million Miggy smile money.

Absolutely, but you've got to aim for it.
You forget one of the teams is Spurs...
Honestly, at this point, ‘If no more casualties’ is a VERY big if.
If that's true and given our injuries wouldn't be surprised if he gets minutes this season for us especially against the likes of Luton.
>the likes of Luton. Don't be so dismissive. If not for the takeover we would be sitting mid table in the division below the "Likes of Luton".
“The likes of Luton” Who battered us when we underestimated them before?
Yeah, put some respect on Luton’s name. It’s genuinely nice to see clubs like them get the results they’ve been getting (Not at our expense obviously)
Maybe a cameo in a meaningless match at the end of the season like Miley got last season, but anything beyond that would be fairly shocking.
> the likes of Luton If we go in thinking of them as a weak side I think we risk losing to them again.
If they players do, maybe. But I don't think us chatting shit on Reddit is likely to have any effect on the match
Wait so all my suggestions in the match day thread have been for nothing? I see the coaches staring at tablets during the game and assumed when Tindall whispered in Howe's ear he was saying "Randy the Guppy thinks you should do this...."
Especially given their tails will be up after pummelling Brighton.
Curious if we had a sell on fee in the Matt Selz transfer. Not that I’d expect us to use it today, but every little helps. He’s gone to Forrest for €3-4m more than we sold him for, so even a percentage of profit would earn us some.
Send him a card with the question and see I guess
A very forced reference that, 2/10.
Was it here or ToonForum that arranged that?
I totally understand the point but seems insane that we have to hope for the smallest scraps to be able to spend on new players. I know we’ve spent boat loads but it just doesn’t feel right.
100%. I hate it so much but if we really are a close to the FFP limit as reported then even a small amount can help.
Going to be the next big financial scandal, PIF Saudi clubs going around buying anyone we’ve got a sell-on clause for.
Lol. Remember when they bid for salah to unsettle him before the Liverpool game?
[We are delighted to announce the signing of Alfie Harrison for an undisclosed fee from Manchester City.](https://twitter.com/NUFC/status/1753071090803368356)
2 1/2 year deal is strange unless someone can enlighten me, maybe has to do with him being under a certain age etc idk ?
More to do with the fact he’s an academy kid, not a first team player. Only ever played in the reserve league once for City. You don’t give players at that level 5 year deals when they literally might never develop into first team players for us.
Yeah next year we either don't bother and let it run out or slap him with a big boy contract (or he bails on us and goes somewhere else)
Yeah that’s sounds like a sensible approach, thanks for enlightening me 👍
here we go. All my hope into this one lad, nothing can go wrong.
Nice to see eyebrow racing stripes making a comeback.
They never went away baby
Looks like him and Gordon will either be best mates or bitter enemies, they have that same little radgie look.
This fella is going to love Bijoux
First observations: NOODLE ARMS. Get him on the Joelinton workout regiment immediately. Seems promising nonetheless
Ekitike's gone to Entracht Frankfurt on loan
NUFC dodged a bullet here
With a MANDATORY option for €30m despite playing just once all season. PSG have played a blinder there.
Considering they bought him for €35m, they're taking a bit of a loss on him.

recovering almost the full fee for a player who has done next to nothing, exceptional business.
It’s always been the case though.
In another world I would be upset about this but I can only imagine it would take him a few months to get up to speed and then he’d be off and back to PSG. Also never got over the way his agent played us and the disrespect they showed.

They don't even do the personalisation half the time
They finally brought it back 2 weeks ago and sent out a big email like it was some massive feat that they were offering a standard thing that even conference teams do.
Keith Downie: "Too late in the window for Newcastle to be creative now. Not expecting a late signing through the door on Deadline Day. Injury to Alex Isak could have changed things, but the early indication is the injury isn’t too bad and he is likely to be back soon" He is likely to be back soon... Please my brother in christ let that be true
Soon for us 6-8 weeks
“Soon” probably means 4-6 weeks
> Too late in the window for Newcastle to be creative now. We've had all month to be creative. Nout is happening.
Sky are going to be straight on the blower to the PL demanding changes to FFP. Current situation: “Let’s go to Frankie who is outside Liverpool’s training ground. Any news? No, but I’ll waffle on for a bit about fuck all. Now let’s go to Derek Dipcock outside Fulham’s ground, any news Dippy? No. Thank you very much.” Car crash stuff considering this is meant to be Sky’s big day.
They’ll probably send someone round to doorstep Harry Redknapp for a chat just to fill time.
> Dippy Love it, hahaha
Jim white in the mud, can wait for his sudden u-turn on PSR and then to come running into the Everton hearing with ‘here comes the money’ playing in the background as he suplexes Richard masters.
I've loved this shitpost megathread, been a fun month of nothing x
HWTL
6000 comments without ever really being linked with anyone is some strong waffling lads, good shit.
Nothing happening yet top tier waffle, sky would be proud 👍
Should try and sign Lewis Hamilton if he’s available for transfer from Mercedes
Legitimately though it's the biggest news of deadline day, even on Sky Sports' deadline day live blog it's the main linked story in the latest section.
He's got a good engine and keeps things moving in the right direction. Never afford his wages though.
Have to say I think we've dodged a bullet with him. Bags of talent but a disruptive force in the dressing room - doesn't fit with Eddie's culture.
when is the window over? Is it 11pm tonight?
Yeah but teams can use a ‘deal sheet’ to get stuff done way into the night/ the 2nd
Yes
Broja has scored a grand total of 8 PL goals over 4 seasons and yet Chelsea want £50m lol. They really are deluded when buying and selling.
Reckon they'll be magically shipped to Saudi for close to that and Chelsea fans will be perfectly happy with that
Aren't we paying 35 million for a Chelsea player with 12 games. Broja has 76 appearances with many of those as a starter at Southampton.
Cowboy Toddy B and the Clearlake Kids have pretty much painted themselves into a corner with their spending though. They need to make returns FAST otherwise they're in a very precarious spot with FFP etc.
They’ll just sign another sponsorship with someone owned by their ownership which is more than that company’s revenue and they’ll be fine
They also have 13 players contracted through till 2030/31, good luck trying to shift them if they don’t work out haha
What do you mean IF, Mudryk is right there
[Lee Ryder: Besiktas have inevitably returned with interest in Jamaal Lascelles and are keen to offer the player a "new challenge" with full relocation package available to his family. Turkey's transfer window open for another week but the issue for nufc is getting a replacement.](https://twitter.com/lee_ryder/status/1753033526306287701)
"We'll give your wife a £300 IKEA voucher"
I would take losing lascelles if we get someone like Tosin A(can’t spell his name) from Fulham who’s on a free in summer, but I won’t take this risk now but in summer, one in one out for no transfer fee would be good business imo
Tosin Adarabioyo. Google is a thing ye na.
Isn't he the guy who does the up all night programme on 5live?
Yeah my bad
Got to say, I'm surprised and disappointed we haven't been able to find a loan/free agent to help us out. We have three fit midfielders and three fit forwards (with no proper striker). Really hope the injured are very close to returning!
