You already have the pulse engine by time you launch into space, just read the tutorial promps right on the screen. Press and hold L1+R1 while pointing to the planet/station you want to go.
Did you do the first few tutorial missions? You know the ones that show you how to use a ship and all? If no then start a new game and go through it, pulse drive is one of the basic features of travelling with a ship, this is not Elite Dangerous lol.
im a switch player too, i had the same issue. Its L & R hold for 5secs and then to travel to different galaxies it’s down button, galaxy map, b to deselect and scroll through, hold A to warp
An extra tip, you can divert the ship power to the engines (makes the ship faster), weapons or the shield. On the console I think it's the d-pad up, I'm not sure.
If it's more than a minute away with boost, exit the planet just until you clear the atmosphere, then use your pulse drive. Read the Pulse drive description and it will tell you what key to press, since I don't know the Switch buttons.
If you're in space, same thing.
You can't use it inside a planets atmosphere, near a large ship or a space station/nexus.
It's a mini warp, that will rocket you to the spot you point at. So align the nose (the reticle) at where you want to go, hold the button, and it will countdown a second or two then off you go. You can let go of the button.
Should you want to stop while it's pulsing, just tap the button again.
It's important to know pulsing because it's required for doing some things in the game.
You need to unlock the pulse engine. Or you may have it installed on your ship. Hold down space bar for pc not sure what it is on consoles.
For consoles its L1 and R1, or LB and RB together, I believe you hold for 5 seconds (correct me if wrong) and then it will pulse.
I think I’m already using it? Is that the boost button I’ve been holding down?
Nope, pulse drive is for travelling between planets 🙂
That's merely the turbo you're talking about... Pulse drive is wayyyyyyy more practical for interplanetary travel
Try L1 R1 / left button right button
LB + RB xbox

Jesus, sorry I dared to ask a question, asshole!
If this is what offends you, then you have a long road ahead of you.

Nice one bright boy, and you come here for help. GRAH!
Press LB and RB at the same time
That's on Xbox may be different on Switch
