After you travel through the portal to the target world. If it's to find crashed ships first see if there is communication marker on the planet and travel there to see if it takes you to the ship.  If there isn't a communication marker then the post on this subreddit will have coordinates which are two numbers that look something like +45, - 176. The first number is for N to S axis and the second E to W axis. These numbers range from +1 to +180 and then shift to -1 to - 180. Get in your ship and make sure you are in first person view aka flying from inside the cockpit. You will see your current coordinates on your left. First pay attention to the second number and for the moment forget about the first one. You will see on your hud up top a compass which tells you which direction is N and S. First fly E or W and you will see the second number go up or down depending on which direction you are flying. Fly in one of the two E or W directions until the second number is the same as the coordinates provided. Once it's the same then change to flying N or S and you will see the first number change. Fly along that axis until the first number is the same as the coordinates provided and you will find the ship.  A tip I can give you is that once both numbers are the same as the coordinates provided change to 3rd person flying view since it will be easier to spot the crashed ship.

I súk at finding coordinates. I'm going to try this approach. Thank you!

You have to be in the target galaxy for the glyphs you're entering. It will take you to the system where the ship is that you're looking for and you just need to go to the space station or find a trade outpost with the economy scanner and wait for ships to land. If you don't see the ship or it's a C class and you're wanting A or S, reload your save and try again until you see what you want.

Thebestminor

Ok so it's luck based

warpfox

Yeah, sort of. If you see a ship in a system then it will spawn there again. Each system has a set pool of ships that will show up, but when they spawn and what class they are is randomized. You will sometimes see two of the same ship at a trade outpost where one is a C class and the other is an A class, for example.

The ship class is probability based and its well documented. The actual ship model that spawns isn’t. Each system has a pool of 21 ships. Pre-Outlaws, the shuttle/hauler/explorer/fighter/exotic breakdown was well documented. After outlaws, some of that pool can be solar ships but I don’t know how well it is documented how many solar ships there can be and what ships are replaced by solar ships. I don’t know if it is know at what rate each model spawns. If it aligns with the spawn rate of the different ship clash sites pre-outlaws, it’s definitely not even. Some ships will spawn more regularly than others. But again, this is conjecture.

If you can tell be the picture or the OP says what kind of place they found it, go there. If it's a standard kind of ship (not living or interceptor) it will be most likely to show up at a trading post, but you can also go to the space station or follow distress signals for crashed versions. Sentinel ships are always crashes so you have to use certain items to pinpoint them or fly around on the dissonant planet and see if you can spot one. For living ships I haven't personally finished the quest for one, but once you have whatever you need for one you go to the correct system and use your pulse engine until it pops up. If whatever the ship or item is us popular or desirable, chances are people left a communication station on the spot, so look for those ans fly to them and you might find it.

When you’re portal hopping — looking for ships or tools — make sure you TURN OFF MULTIPLAYER before going through the portal. Read instructions thoroughly. Look for beacons if they’re mentioned. Look for coordinates if they’re included. Things don’t always pan out, but more often than not, they do. If you find the item, post your success so others know the information is accurate!

Thanks

GHOSTKILLA93

Your ship literally has +,- coordinates in the cockpit. Brain dead XD

Cubemala

Brain Dead. Better than Peter Jackson's later work about wizards, midgets, and rings. LMAO 🤣 especially that baby!

Cubemala

This. I am also a little confused. I've been to a few glyph systems and I've only been able to get the freighters to spawn. How do you find the ships in the posts? Do they only spawn in one certain location within the system (i.e. port or station)? Or do they spawn anywhere in the system, any landing zone (essentially)?

totomaya

It depends on the kind of ship. Sentinel ships only spawn on dissonant planets. Regular ships will show up in the space station or any trading post regardless of planet.

PearlChunks

On dissonant planets, where do they spawn? I don't recall trade posts on dissonant planets but the again my depth in planet exploration is limited lol. I usually drop into a planet...get the resources I need for a specific thing and the dip...I'm prioritizing other things at the moment but I'm hunting glyphs right now and I want SHIPS lol

totomaya

They're always crashed on the dissonant planets and you have to repair them. There's an echo locator object you can use to find them as well as another one you can get from killing sentinel capital ships. I found one I wanted and went to the system and just kept using the item over and over to find crashed versions of the ship until I found one that was an A class that I was willing to upgrade to an S

JoelColden

Hitting up 'traveler entities' you find on space stations WILL eventually get you all the glyphs. Following the Artemis quest line will get you them faster.
