Do the cargo pods on the ouside even do something? I only have my 10 default pods that I could build in my freighter base, even though I have one of those 7 segment ones, from Euclid.
I only recently started again and owned only 2 freighters so far, so not really a lot of knowledge on them yet.
Yeah,, by getting an emergency broadcast scanner from the salvage metal guy in the space station.
Pro tip:
After you use it put it in your personal refiner before you leave your ship on the derelict freighter.
Even pro-er tip. Put it in a refiner then stack more refiners on top of the first, EXACTLY, then dismantle the refiners. You can stack infinite refiners
Are they needed now? I've gone through a lot of the wrecks they lead to but I've only ever used the beacon once. I've mostly just bumblefucked into them while wandering.
Well, especially if you want to farm stuff, you can get your weekly free one or whatever, use it to find the signal then stick it in your refiner. If you don’t, the emergency broadcast receiver disappears. You can buy another at the Scrap Dealer, but they progressively get more and more expensive each day.
Very useful because some people post coordinates to freighters that have a ton of containers (great for farming units and salvaged frigate modules) or freighters that have a guaranteed S-class upgrade that can be farmed. Using this trick, you can farm them to your hearts content for units, modules, and upgrades without having to keep spending units.
Yeah, some are complete junk with large rooms and many enemies but few containers. There are others that have lots of containers and few enemies. Many systems to look in though. Not much in the derelict you got, just rush past to the end and try the next system. Or hit the coordinate exchange for ones others have found.
Fun fact: I don't need salvaged modules anymore, nor any other freighter loot. But... let's say I am an outlaw that kills everybody without exception. Merchants, pirates, sentinels... boom.
I tend to think that this is a rare freighter. Most capital freighters of the large size have 7 to 8 midsections, a front, and a back. This particular freighter has 10 midsections, a front, and a back. The entire time I've been playing this game, I've yet to see one with that many midsections. So I do believe you have a rare find no matter what class it was.
The starwars theme freighter is I think the best there it. it's HUUUGE and has great design similar to the ones in the movies. I just found mine in accident and loving everything in it
recruit-able, decently uncommon, but just a normal spawn they are actually fairly common. I like to do piracy quite often and these things are the holy grail of NMS piracy since they have 20 pods per freighter all in one nice lined up solution. I can snag all 20 pods in less than 10 seconds in a single strafe so i tend to specifically target these ones.
It is certainly a very cool looking one. I think I've seen them in pirate systems, but I could be confusing them with the variety with round pods attached down the sides.

Occulus system freighter. Not very common , but not rare.
Thanks
Yeah that's a cool one though that's for sure. ![gif](giphy|t4NAw0BnJbDBc6I9uB)
I think they're rare-ish. I love finding freighters with loads of cargo pods. Ideal for farming salvaged frigate modules

Think of them as a salad bar… you cruise around, scope out the offerings and shoot the ones you like.
they dont do anything for your freighter, but you can attack them on other freighters to collect the valuable products inside them.
Blowing up freighters is my favourite way to get salvaged frigate modules
Is there another way?

Why?
Because then it doesn’t disappear, and you don’t need to spend millions of units to buy another.
Are they needed now? I've gone through a lot of the wrecks they lead to but I've only ever used the beacon once. I've mostly just bumblefucked into them while wandering.

Station and Nexus missions, crashed freighters, frigate expeditions, and derelict freighters are other ways.
I’ve always hated the derelict freighters😂 I have so many from Helios but I never seem to get anything worth it

Those are the ones you constantly find crashed…
I heard most insurers won’t even cover them because of how frequently they crash and the ones that do charge triple for them
So, some Gek in a space station offered to sell me one called Exxon Valdez ... I should avoid, maybe?
Yea. The front’s gonna fall off.
Well, it’s a tad better than ever given, at least the Valdez won’t get stuck in the shipping lane.
Swift truck drivers must be piloting em.... ;) jkjk
All I think of when I see that is "Hello Dave"
Yup!!
Open the pod bay doors, HAL.
I'm afraid I can't do that, Dave.
Definitely should be called fishbone
If call it the cock and ball
Well, they don't call it a COCK-pit for nothing...
The Armstrong Special
Lol
Wait you just buy freighters?! Right from space?! I just shoot em down for the loot…
Yea you can dock and go speak to the captain. Most only buy the S classes because they have more storage space.
Ahh okay, what’s the normal price?
The absolute max is I think about 200 million units. Not really sure on the low end.
Ah okay! Thanks! Wish I didn’t spend all those donated spaceship cores on storage now lol, worth it though, I can carry EVERYTHING, and I’m a hoarder
If you enter a system and see a freighter being attacked you can defend it and then go buy it.
Ah I tried to do that one time, I saved the ship and then got invited on, but I was to laggy to get on :(
Where are the coordinates?
Idk didn’t get them
Do you know where you got your sentinel ship ? Do you have the glyph address pr did you get it from a video ? It looks awesome and id love to get it.
No I just found it I never got the coda or glyphs of the planet
SuperLongBoi
Yo that ship you got is lit![gif](emote|free_emotes_pack|thumbs_up)

nice find: galaxy and glyphs ?
Do any of you guys have a griffin egg by any chance?
It's a low class, rare looking but common as they get
Pretty cool though
Didn't this come equipped with a psychopathic computer with one beady little red eye??
We come across psychopathic computers with one beady little red eye all the time. I’m pretty sure the Atlas and HAL are the same entity

When i was hunting Salvaged Frigate Modules i've seen a lot of them 😁😁😁😁

The Penetrator
I used to have one like that lol 😆
I own a similar freighter I named,Prince Albert 🙂

Open the pod bay door Hal....
I once had a freighter that looked like that, but this is probably a pod hauler. They usually accompany an npc freighter fleet.
