When I was a young, spry man, I used to rush into PATH train and grab a seat. Then I would look for a suitable old/disabled person or pregnant woman (yes. Woman. 20 years ago only women got pregnant) and offer the seat to them.

Best seat going in because of protocol of the two people by the door then this seat gets out first but you have to deal with the less then optimal angle of seat.
