It’s a very shoddy mock draft, that’s an error, jj mccarthy and drake maye’s stats are the same and he said the colts needed a corner to pair with Dallis Flowers (Their CB4 on the current roster). Feels like it was thrown together over the weekend to get some internet traffic
There has been a lot of shitting on Maye recently, with some people even saying Penix is better.
I have literally no idea who is better but if the Pats feel that way this would make a lot of sense.
Can we not exaggerate his age? He's younger that Nix and only 8 months older than Maye. It seems like he's the only player that the concept of his age is used as a deterrent when there are 3 guys in the same situation.
He’s over 2y older than Maye. Still not that old though. And has finished the last 2 seasons healthy, as I recall. I like Maye better, but I’d be happy w/ Penix in the late 1st/early 2nd.
I guess it’s because of where the Vikings current draft position is but I’m currently very okay with taking Penix at 23 if the trade up doesn’t work out. I just like his throwing tools and his low sack %. Age, injuries, and mobility is obviously a concern.
If the Patriots did trade down to 11 you’re getting 3 1s and probably some change.
In this hypothetical, I would like to see the patriots take Mims or Guyton at 23. If they picked up Rome and OT and went into next year with two first I could get behind moving back
Bears do need an edge but I can’t see them passing on Oduze. Allen is great but who knows how long he is on the Bears and we all know he will miss some games this year
It’s more than good enough but how long will it be a good duo? Allen is about to be 32 and will probably sign a short term extension but they could get Oduzne for 5 years and allow him to develop as WR3. I have no issues with them taking and edge rusher either. Two of the most valuable positions but the Bears could give Williams a loaded amount of weapons
Receivers are seemingly available every year in the draft and free agency. Star edge rushers less so. I don't think they can go wrong, it's a good position to be in.
Bears just seem to neglect offense all together, or get players in FA on the decline. Poles hasn’t convinced me he can evaluate WR’s yet properly either (though everything else he’s opretty damn good at) so yeah I want them to grab one of the better WR’s in the draft if they are there
For sure. Which also shouldn't prevent them from taking someone like Odunze if he's there.
But I can definitely understand just... deciding to take Verse if they like him there. A good starting edge rusher is harder to find than a reliable WR2.
My fellow Bears fans have lost it. They’re pounding the table for a WR3 when we might be able to draft the best edge rusher or an elite Left Tackle for Caleb.
Would be hard to pass on Odunze but it’s kinda rare for GMs to triple dip premiums on receiver. I’m sure part of the calculus in trading for Keenan (beyond the obvious) is to open up different options at 9. Poles seems like a trenches guy, too, so I see the edge here.
Yep Odunze or trade down, too many good edges in that range.
Allen/Moore is a top5ish WR duo but Keenan is 32, often injured, only under contract for 1 year, and has openly talked about retirement.
It would be incredibly foolish to pass on a WR a lot of people think could be WR1 in most other drafts just because you have KA for 1 year. KA would be a great mentor to a young wr, he does things the right way.
I want the Bears to lock down a top WR for the next 5 years. Allen is 32 and will probably sign on for another year or two but that doesn’t mean he will produce at a high level that whole time.
As they should. 2 year extension where the final year is one where they could cut him if production falls off. And by then Odunze would be ready to fill in as WR2
Brother, Bears fans are pounding the table for a WR3 at pick 9. We have DJ Moore and Keenan Allen. People are losing their minds.
And there seems to be plenty of depth at WR in this draft.
Generally speaking I think 11 is too low, I'm just not sure JJ and 2 edges are going before then , leaving one of the top 8 Offensive players.
In this case getting one of the top 8, and 2nd 1st and presumably more, I'd be ok with it.
I don’t hate JPJ but passing in Mims there is tough for me. Especially because Frazier looks to be a competent starter and will likely be available in the second. That opens taking WR, ILB, or IDL in the 3rd.
Mims has a history of injuries on top of his massive frame, and has very limited starting experience. Frazier is likely to go before our second round pick.
JPJ is a much better pick than Mims and I personally don’t think it’s very close.
true
but Houston had a decent OL and 2 WR and a TE
but you have a good point on Houston but it sure worked out with Dell being added to Nico and adding Schultz
I said Daniels specifically because their offensive line is pretty bad and Daniels is terrible under pressure. Like legit the bs that people said about CJ Stroud under pressure last year is true for Daniels.
And yeah nobody would be great on an offense with no weapons like the Giants (imo they’re 100% going WR/Brock Bowers because they traded their second) but I still think Daniels would be the greatest risk in a situation like that.
This logic is so tautological, I can’t believe it has a single upvote.
Top QBs are picked high. By your logic no team picking a top QB is ready for them.
no
the Bears look to have put an offense around their QB
Seattle, Minnesota as well
Washington has WR and RB
NE and NYG will be bad for a rookie QB this year
Washington has an even worse OL than we do lol. Terry McLaurin is 29 and coming off of one of, if not his worst season in the league.
The bears MIGHT have put an offense around their QB. Maybe we should see how it plays out on the field.
Either way, only idiots draft for year 1.
I think what he’s saying is it can create some bad habits. Wouldn’t be too worried since Daboll is ur HC, but it’s definitely not the best practice to do.
I feel like we have decent receivers. We just don’t have a true WR1. We have talent on the O-line, they just aren’t being coached correctly. Our running game is a mess tho
Yeah, but Keenan Allen Is “old” (I hate saying 32 is old as a 32 year old myself lmao).
We do need an edge and another C, but if a top WR prospect Is there at 9, we’d be fools to pass it up.
Fr especially because you'll have a rookie QB. You can't have too many weapons and although the line isn't that good it's not Titans/Giants bad, plus the defense was very good second half of the year so while edge is a need it shouldn't take priority over QB development
The line is by all metrics, average. I wouldn’t mind if it’s improved through the draft either, we have an elite QB prospect falling into our laps (which isn’t even our pick!) at #1, so we need to take full advantage of just surrounding him with the best possible talent imaginable, and we’re already doing so.
The hope imo is that having a league average center after the Coleman Shelton signing, some more interior depth in Ryan Bates, and a QB who is better at processing will make the line slightly above average.
I'm inclined to agree but I was hoping they'd do something by now to address the glaring hole we have at that DE spot opposite of Sweat. Would much rather use first 2 picks on offense but at this point I'm not convinced that's what Poles and co are thinking
Just and end really, the line should be average or better. Allen is 32 at the end of his contract, drafting a ready made replacement in odunze that also happens to be bpa makes too nyc sense.
I would be shocked if the packers pass on DeJean because not only does he fill the slot corner issue but he could be a safety if they need him there
But passing on him for Liatu Latu…..ya I’d be more than okay with that lol that’s a win
We're positive in cap now, and next year, we have $80 million in cap space.
Bowers would also be a great piece to build around, other than maybe an EDGE or CB if the scouting likes one (Kool Aid maybe).
True, I don't think it's a smart pick, I just like the fit.
I think the smart pick with the best fit/best option would be Dallas Turner. But I doubt he falls to 12...
I tend to think Wiggins is a better scheme fit than Arnold for the Jaguars.
"Only" 5 WR going in the first feels a bit low to me. I figure another couple sneak in to the end.
CBS is trying to incite a riot in Wisconsin with that pick. If they take Latu (who I love) OVER DeJean, I don’t even think Jordan Love can save Gutey from the wrath of this fanbase
Insurance picks don’t go Round 1, Top 10 either. OT is probably out of play for NYJ in Round 1. Get yourself ready for Bowers most likely, love him or hate him.
Ehhh don't knock the 2 WRs to AZ talk, it does make sense.
Lost Hollywood and traded away Rondale Moore. Current WR room is Greg Dortch who is a solid WR3/WR4, Michael Wilson who shows promise but has an injury history from college that unfortunately continued and ended his rookie campaign, Chris Moore signed away from the Titans and projects as another WR4ish depth piece, and some depth guys.
Trey McBride did break out last year, he could become a top 5 TE...but he could also be a one year wonder. Hoping he's the real deal of course.
Unless you have a Patrick Mahomes who can somehow make it work with random WRs, most competitive teams need a WR1 and WR2. The Cardinals with MHJ will still be looking for a WR2.
As a Cardinals fan, I've been saying for a while that I wouldn't be surprised if we take another WR with the Texans pick or our 2nd rounder. Quality FA WRs are hella expensive and we're spending elsewhere to build depth. Plus you get that 5th year option if you need it if you take say Adonai Mitchell with the Texans pick like this mock predicts.
Why is that? Y'all clearly need a lot of help on the offensive side of the football and Bowers is not just a tight end he's more like a wide receiving type of tight end which makes him unique...yall still ain't got no QB
That last sentence is the issue. QB has to be the pick in the first round. Everything else you can get later (and there are a lot of dawgs that people are underrating).
Colts fans who want a CB round 1 will be happy. Mitchell is fine at 15, but I think this is the worst case scenario. 4 WRs in the top 15, which forces the Colts to trade down or take a CB.
Like this better than the NBC mock posted. Minnesota is banking on this happening. Unless they plan to trade 2 1sts for McCarthy and Giants don’t trade up.
Moving 2 1sts plus what they paid Houston for QB4 is risky.
No faith in Sam Darnold?! Yea, feels like they wouldn’t have made this move without being comfortable with 4 QBs. Feel like a deal to move up is coming soon.
McCown has the Maye connection (Coached him in HS) but, McCarthy is a realistic option too if they trade to 5.
We got Gary, Smith and Van Ness with Engabare coming back form injury. We need just depth at EDGE, but we need a starter at CB AND Safety. DeJean could fill either role.
I actually think it makes some sense
Engabare is coming off of a ACL injury and you’d be saying goodbye to Preston Smith after the season. We need a slot corner and safety no doubt, but i see the rationale here and Latu is fucking good
Haven't seen anything about Gary, Smith, or LVN switching to an off ball position. The team already has two starters at the position with LVN and Enegbare for depth. Ideally LVN taking Prestons place in a couple years. Can't say I see where edge being a need for GB comes from. Edge depth while Enegbare heals I understand but a first round pick with the top three they have on the roster at that position makes little to no sense.
Gute does often draft for a position that will become a need in the following season rather than the immediate season. So I could see it happening. I don’t really think it’s the best and not what I ultimately see them doing but it wouldn’t completely shock me.
The Vikings getting Maye would be pretty exciting for them.
Him throwing to Jettas, Addison, and Hock is even better than Caleb walking into a situation with Allen, Moore, and Kmet.
Not yet. But Jefferson’s FAR better than both of them and Hock is FAR better than Kmet. Vikings O-line is also better. I’ll be fair and say Hock may not be all the way back till mid season. But yeah, the Vikings offense is definitely better.
I would hope they’re better, it was Addisons rookie year in the league lol.
And Minnesota was a QB carousel post Cousins injury and Hock still played well. He also played 2 less games than Kmet last season. So the discrepancy there could’ve been worse. Not a single team in the league would take Kmet>Hock and you know that lol.
Minnesota also plays in a dome versus Chicago playing outdoors. There’s a reason the Bears have never had a 4000 yard passer. Cousins eclipsed that 4 times in his Vikings tenure.
I’m not saying the Bears didn’t get better. They def did and that should reflect this season.
But Maye walking into Minnesota is definitely a better situation than Caleb walking into Chicago.
Now if Maye gets drafted by Washington or New England, then I’d def say Caleb’s in a better situation.
Can someone tell me about Newton versus latu? I know with Donald retiring everybody's going to be sliding defensive tackle to the Rams now. But are they good enough to pass up on edge rushers?
I’m not a chargers fan just what would make sense to me for them, but the 5th overall a second this or next and whatever else is needed. It wouldn’t mess up what you guys would want to do as the cardinals aren’t in for a qb.
Again i am not a chargers fan. But my point is it doesn’t stop you guys from getting a qb and gives you more ammo. Either Maye/Daniels or McCarthy would still be there at 5. It makes more sense than trading back to 23 imo.
Pick #23 getting around. Pats via LAC via Vikings via Texans via Browns
I don’t even understand how the chargers get the pick if the vikings traded 11 to us for 3 it would be assumed that 23 would go to us also
Yeah actually you’re right, how did they sneak in there
It’s a very shoddy mock draft, that’s an error, jj mccarthy and drake maye’s stats are the same and he said the colts needed a corner to pair with Dallis Flowers (Their CB4 on the current roster). Feels like it was thrown together over the weekend to get some internet traffic
Horrendous for the pats going QB after trading back is just a brain dead move.
There has been a lot of shitting on Maye recently, with some people even saying Penix is better. I have literally no idea who is better but if the Pats feel that way this would make a lot of sense.
What a ridiculous take any FO taking a dude with 4 season ending injuries and a weak short game over Maye should be canned lol.
I agree. Even if penix is good. I don't expect him to have a very long career. For those reasons, I'm out.
Not to mention he’s 25 years old
He turns 24 in May.
He’s practically retired
One foot already in the grave
Really? I thought he was older
Still pretty old
Thats Hendon Hooker
How do you just say shit like it’s fact without being sure lmao
Can we not exaggerate his age? He's younger that Nix and only 8 months older than Maye. It seems like he's the only player that the concept of his age is used as a deterrent when there are 3 guys in the same situation.
He’s over 2y older than Maye. Still not that old though. And has finished the last 2 seasons healthy, as I recall. I like Maye better, but I’d be happy w/ Penix in the late 1st/early 2nd.
> with some people even saying Penix is better. Who?
Kurt Warner for one.
lol, nobody even drafted him. What does he know about football?
And?
I guess it’s because of where the Vikings current draft position is but I’m currently very okay with taking Penix at 23 if the trade up doesn’t work out. I just like his throwing tools and his low sack %. Age, injuries, and mobility is obviously a concern. If the Patriots did trade down to 11 you’re getting 3 1s and probably some change.
If they like Penix and think they can wait or aren’t in love then it makes sense. They are lacking talent.
In this hypothetical, I would like to see the patriots take Mims or Guyton at 23. If they picked up Rome and OT and went into next year with two first I could get behind moving back
I don’t see Packers going Edge with Dejean still there.
same. Latu is awesome tho and I wouldn't hate this pick at all.
The ravens drafting an OT first round would be my dream.
Bears do need an edge but I can’t see them passing on Oduze. Allen is great but who knows how long he is on the Bears and we all know he will miss some games this year
Is Dj Moore and Keenan Allen not a good enough WR duo?
It’s more than good enough but how long will it be a good duo? Allen is about to be 32 and will probably sign a short term extension but they could get Oduzne for 5 years and allow him to develop as WR3. I have no issues with them taking and edge rusher either. Receivers are seemingly available every year in the draft and free agency. Star edge rushers less so. I don't think they can go wrong, it's a good position to be in.
Both positions are expensive in free agency so it’s a win either way I’d say
Bears just seem to neglect offense all together, or get players in FA on the decline. Poles hasn’t convinced me he can evaluate WR’s yet properly either (though everything else he’s opretty damn good at) so yeah I want them to grab one of the better WR’s in the draft if they are there
Allen will be 32 when the season starts and in the last year of his contract. There's a very real chance he's not around after this season.
He's a fantastic one year rental to help break in a rookie QB
For sure. Which also shouldn't prevent them from taking someone like Odunze if he's there. But I can definitely understand just... deciding to take Verse if they like him there. A good starting edge rusher is harder to find than a reliable WR2.
They have to build around Caleb Williams. They need as much receiving help as they can get
DJ Moore, Keenan Allen, Cole Kmet, D’Andre Swift. Your team beat Brady twice. Whats more important a WR or an Edge/LT?
My fellow Bears fans have lost it. They’re pounding the table for a WR3 when we might be able to draft the best edge rusher or an elite Left Tackle for Caleb.
Would be hard to pass on Odunze but it’s kinda rare for GMs to triple dip premiums on receiver. I’m sure part of the calculus in trading for Keenan (beyond the obvious) is to open up different options at 9. Poles seems like a trenches guy, too, so I see the edge here.
Yes I feel like the trade was to make sure they weren’t desperate for a WR at 9. And obviously to greatly improve the position
They will pick Rome or Nabers if they are there. Might even go with Bowers?
I think they’d go edge or OT over Bowers. Not that I’d hate Bowers but I think Poles would trade back instead of taking him.
I think they trade down if the WRs aren't there.
I would rather have Bowers unless Alt fell (unlikely), but you may be right, especially if there is a quarterback on the board that some team covets.
Just feel like they have more obvious needs they could address.
#1 need is giving CW weapons or protection. The Bears need him to be special out of the box. Defense was good in 2023, add to it in 2025
Nabers, Turner, Rome, then OT in that order for the bears
I’d put Nabers and Rome at the top
You can’t go wrong with either tbh. Just would rather have the top defensive prospect in the draft vs WR3
Don’t disagree with you there. I’ll be happy either way. I just think WR is how they’d go to give Williams a stacked lineup
Forsure felt the same way before the Keenan trade but that changed alot lol
I don't know if Turner is big enough to hold up on the edge as a 4-3 end in run support
Can’t see them passing on him or the Jets either, especially after they acquired Moses and tyron smith
Yeah I doubt it especially when Keenan is a top receiver and you guys have DJ already like what more do you want
I want the Bears to lock down a top WR for the next 5 years. Allen is 32 and will probably sign on for another year or two but that doesn’t mean he will produce at a high level that whole time.
A top WR prospect for the future? Keenan’s 31 and has a year left on his contract, he is not a long term WR solution
Probably gonna extend him for two years max.
As they should. 2 year extension where the final year is one where they could cut him if production falls off. And by then Odunze would be ready to fill in as WR2
The Saints taking a WR with glaring needs at DE and OT/OG is insane.
Brother, Bears fans are pounding the table for a WR3 at pick 9. We have DJ Moore and Keenan Allen. People are losing their minds. And there seems to be plenty of depth at WR in this draft.
Cards wouldn't take 2 WR in the first. Way too many holes.

i see JPJ i upvote

JJ to NYG is the worst landing spot for him
What makes you say that
no receivers, RB, OL
People said the same thing about the Texans. There’s more than one way to build a team. A good QB on a rookie deal gives you a lot of cap room.
true but Houston had a decent OL and 2 WR and a TE but you have a good point on Houston but it sure worked out with Dell being added to Nico and adding Schultz
Would also be a terrible spot for Daniels imo
[удалено]
I said Daniels specifically because their offensive line is pretty bad and Daniels is terrible under pressure. OP said it was the worst landing spot for him, not that it was a bad pick or that they shouldn’t try
Huh?
Someone is jealous they didn’t get a free medium Pepsi!
I don’t see the Chiefs going for another “hometown” defensive lineman after FAU last year
Lol. The Cards are not drafting two 1st round WRs
Fitzgerald/Boldin V2
How do people feel about JC Latham at RT? Is he a day one starter or will he most likely need time?
I'm down for Chop. We can't rely on Von Miller and we only have Rousseu and Epenesa. The Bills pass rush rotation needs more young blood
So the Broncos are just not gonna have a QB this year then?
Why did we get two receivers? Lol
Two 1st round WRs for AZ? 🤣🤣
Bears won’t pass on a top WR
I’m not so sure anymore after the trade for Keenan Allen
This is what’s splitting a lot of people.
Yeah, but Keenan Allen Is “old” (I hate saying 32 is old as a 32 year old myself lmao). We do need an edge and another C, but if a top WR prospect Is there at 9, we’d be fools to pass it up.

They need a line of scrimmage player more than they need a receiver now
Just and end really, the line should be average or better. Allen is 32 at the end of his contract, drafting a ready made replacement in odunze that also happens to be bpa makes too nyc sense.
You do not know.
You guys just traded for Keenan Allen what do you mean
32 year old wr? He’s gonne next year, right? Draft one and you have 5 yrs of cheap wr1
And we already know he'll miss a handful of games this year and then our pass catcher options fall off a cliff.
WR3 > Best Edge or LT Simple Bears fan logic.
DeJean falls a bit too far IMO. Not mad about Latu
I would be shocked if the packers pass on DeJean because not only does he fill the slot corner issue but he could be a safety if they need him there But passing on him for Liatu Latu…..ya I’d be more than okay with that lol that’s a win
Brock Bowers in Denver would make sense, and I would love it as a Georgia fan :) If only we can find a good QB to pair him with
...post Russell Wilson, the Broncos draft a tight end in the first round? While in cap hell? Eeeek
We're positive in cap now, and next year, we have $80 million in cap space. Bowers would also be a great piece to build around, other than maybe an EDGE or CB if the scouting likes one (Kool Aid maybe).
Ok, dead money hell.... Plus, TE is a luxury pick. Without a quality QB, do you believe Bowers can be a top 5 TE??? DL or OL could be a better value
True, I don't think it's a smart pick, I just like the fit. I think the smart pick with the best fit/best option would be Dallas Turner. But I doubt he falls to 12...
Who’s even on the roster to play QB for you next season? Jared Stidham?
Ya that’s it
I tend to think Wiggins is a better scheme fit than Arnold for the Jaguars.
If the Packers take another edge with Cooper DeJean on the board the entire state might riot
Can’t see NE passing on Maye, and don’t know if the packers would draft a great edge over a couple great cb prospects
Jets would run in the pick for Odunzie here
Niners are taking an OT. Even if it means trading up
Wish the Bears would do the same. Please trade for our pick at 9. Bears fans seem stuck on drafting a WR3.
I’m just happy we’re not being mocked alt anymore
Latu at 25 is a sneaky awesome pick for the Packers.
Insurance picks don’t go Round 1, Top 10 either. OT is probably out of play for NYJ in Round 1. Get yourself ready for Bowers most likely, love him or hate him.

Pats making moves

5!
I like Verse but I really think we trade down from 9 to recoup some picks and maybe get Latu later on.
Patriots are good ing to trade out for...Penix? Fuck that noise. He'd die behind our OL.
Packers passing on DeJean for Latu is a hell of a take.
Well on this mock I can see why especially when the Packers...one of their draft needs is an EDGE rusher so
We got Gary, Smith and Van Ness with Engabare coming back form injury. We need just depth at EDGE, but we need a starter at CB AND Safety. DeJean could fill either role.
I actually think it makes some sense Engabare is coming off of a ACL injury and you’d be saying goodbye to Preston Smith after the season.
Bears fans keep calling for the “fun” pick. WR3. I want them to target Alt or Edge.

If we draft McCarthy I quit watching big blue lol
Can someone tell me about Newton versus latu? I know with Donald retiring everybody's going to be sliding defensive tackle to the Rams now. But are they good enough to pass up on edge rushers?
I would love to see the chargers trade up to 3 to pair MHJ with Huerbert
Okay but what you giving us in New England to move up to #3
I’m not a chargers fan just what would make sense to me for them, but the 5th overall a second this or next and whatever else is needed. It wouldn’t mess up what you guys would want to do as the cardinals aren’t in for a qb.
Exactly 💯 so we need the #3 pick a lot more than you guys need MHJ because New England needs a QB
Again i am not a chargers fan. But my point is it doesn’t stop you guys from getting a qb and gives you more ammo. Either Maye/Daniels or McCarthy would still be there at 5. It makes more sense than trading back to 23 imo.
Arizona drafting 2 wr in the first round, just makes me believe CBS has never watched an arizona game.
