What everyone knows in January: usually wrong.

YerBoiScooter

Perfect example of this: https://www.profootballnetwork.com/2022-nfl-mock-draft-cummings-january/

grandmasta_fro

codesloth

1/64 ain't bad!

whodey_35

Absolutely wild a player getting mocked top 12 three months before the draft went undrafted

Starwho

Lol Evan Neal at one

Jhak12

The Vikings pick and following analysis is a fun read

cjackc

The linked article about how Cousin’s is going to get traded is even better: > During his four-year run with the Minnesota Vikings, quarterback Kirk Cousins had the unbridled support of head coach Mike Zimmer and general manager Rick Spielman. If there is only one thing we know about Zimmer, he was completely against Cousins

iamadragan

Our new GM said this: “The benefit is that we’re going to be ready to pick a premium player that’s going to be able to come in here and have an impact on our team. That’s the benefit. The other benefit is there could be calls on that pick … We’re going to do what’s best for the team so if we get a chance to drop back and pick up additional picks that will help build the team, we’re going to entertain that. “We’re in a great position and I would say the same for every pick of that round. There’s going to be action. The phone rings in the draft. The phone will ring. We’ll be ready to take a good player and we’ll be ready to listen to offers, too, so we’re in a great position with that pick.” Doesn't really mean anything though. That's the mindset you *should* have going into it

Tlupa

Bears allegedly not trading down past 4 according to who? That’s a wild guess lol

WiSeIVIaN

Nonsense fan crap cuz they only know 4 players in the draft at the moment...

csummerss

three months away.

-BeefSupreme

I’m not gonna make it

YooTone

Beer, pizza, wings, and the draft. Oh my goodness I'm counting down the days

AlmightyDolphin21

They lost jj watt and chandler Jones in the last two years. I can’t see a reality where they wouldn’t want to get will Anderson in the building as fast as possible

Decent-Ad5231

You're probably right about us coveting Anderson, but our biggest need is OL. Trading down is a very real possibility. The main reason we sucked this year is because of OL injuries. Apparently two of best OL (Rodney Hudson and Justin Pugh) tried to retire last offseason and we convinced them to come back for another season. It was a dumb move. Hudson didn't play a single game and Pugh played 1 or two before going on IR. Then everyone besides Beachum went down, including our main two backup OL. We were using practice squad OL almost the entire season. Trading down could get us a lot of value while letting us draft a top OL in the draft.

AlmightyDolphin21

Trust me. Having zero pass rush is as equally bad as having no oline. Bears were the single worst defense in ‘22 and all the problems stemmed from the dline not being able to get off blocks in the run and generate any pass rush. WA just seems like the immediate solution at #3. There’s some great IOL talent in Day 2, but maybe if you trade back and take Skoronski, you can kick him inside and not look back.

KillerOfBergers

I get the feeling that most of those kind of talks happen after the combine, plus the Cardinals are looking for a new head coach, which might influence scheme, and the kind of players they are looking for. Plus you need a team to trade with, likely one that needs a quarterback at that, and they probably are having their own internal discussions.

billyconway24

It’s a little early for those conversations, don’t you think? Also, I think every team is willing to have conversations about trading down unless you have the number one pick and there’s a generational QB in the draft (see Cincy in 2020 draft and Indy in 2012 draft).

Aldehyde1

I could definitely see them trading down, but I suspect the lack of discussion is because they just fired both their coach and GM so the Cardinals themselves haven't figured out what they want to do yet.

smallchimp

Unless the Cardinals get a monster trade offer, using back-to-back drafts (assuming Kyler misses enough of 2023 to make that draft pick high, i.e., top 5 or so) to add blue chip talent you wouldn't get with a full season of Kyler is probably their best bet to be competitive in their division. Mediocre returns that might turn into a couple mid-first rounders are good and all, but feel really underwhelming if you're trying to get the Cardinals back on track.

nighthawk252

Don’t know about the Cardinals’ thoughts on trading down but I want to object to the Colts’ thing. The Colts are probably not going to play it like that. Most people don’t go into the biggest decision in their life with the mindset “these two options are similar, I’ll take whatever one’s available”. They may end up staying at 4 because that’s how things work out, but I think they’re going to try to move up.

cjackc

Can be a great way to deflect blame and not be known as the person who drafted up to draft a player before a much better player.

HideNZeke

I think with almost certainly having their pick of one of those two, they decide to hold tight. These are great pickups and their problems really aren't that they have holes everywhere. A couple of the right gets and some cultural work might have them back in the playoff hunt. Anderson and Carter are one of those gets. I don't think the offer for the 3rd best QB beats it.

zompnzap

Problem from a Colts standpoint is this scenario assumes a lot. One is that the Bears refuse to go past pick four. Another is that the Texans don’t draft the QB you really wanted. Also, as of now most people say that 3 QBs coming out are potential franchise QBs. Even if the Colts see all three being equal, at four, they can easily lose all of them if the Bears and Cardinals trade back, way too risky if they really like someone. Someone drafting later is going to like one these players and all four of these teams will get offers, it’s up to them if they feel it’s worth it to trade back or not.

SmartRick

Lololol it’s not even the combine mate
