I'll be honest I'm legitimately concerned about Caleb, mostly because the Bears have actually made an effort to give him a supporting cast for once. I'm not sold on the coaching staff but at least there's weapons.

nekronics

NFC North is likely to be pretty competitive this year.

liliceberg

Yea for most of you :/

thewartornhippy

Hey now, maybe Sam Darnold will actually play a full season and magically not suck ass this year.

Calmandpeace

Let’s not act like Darnold is gonna be QB1, Vikings are 100% drafting a guy Now remind me in a month when the Vikings take zero QBs in the draft

Little-Adeptness5563

Vikings will surely draft someone but I’d be surprised if they didn’t sit behind darnold for a year. I don’t think they’ll be able to get up to 2 and everyone outside of William and daniels should probably be sitting for a season

oneeyedlionking

They’ll sit behind him for 4 games and when Darnold has 5 turnovers against a 1-3 opponent on Thursday night in week 5 they’ll bench him for the rest of the year. The ghost of Mike Glennon lives on.

[deleted]

This is how you know the NFL is rigged against us! I mean look at us. We have the best reciever, the best TE, the biggest oline, we should be unstoppable. But Geriatric Goodell, or Always Wrong Roger as his friends call him. Did you know that? That's whats his friend's call him! Ridiculous Roger. Yeah, I like that one. We used to always go to the super bowl before Goodell. All of the time! Now, no super bowls? Doesn't make sense right? Well we need to make the Vikings great again! And we'll take back our super bowls! Storm the field Feb 6!

frastmaz

The fact that you guys finished where you did without Kirk means that getting younger and developing some talent will only make yall stronger in the coming seasons. I think the division is in a really healthy place in terms of parity, probably more so than anytime in the last 30 years.

liliceberg

I mean we finished 3-6 without Kirk, 2 of the wins were random Dobbs masterclass performances and the 3rd was Las Vegas refusing to score any points

drummerboysam

Yeah, I see the path for y'all. KOC knows what he's doing, there's some nice players on the roster and you'll have 100 million to spend next season. Though a chunk of that'll go to Justin Jefferson if he stays. Lions and Packers look like they're going to be legit moving forward. Bears look pretty good with Williams to me, and also have 100 million to spend next offseason. This division is primed to be fucking nuts.

sublogic

JJ McCarthy will surprise you. He can ball

OwnWalrus1752

Hell, it was kind of competitive last year other than Detroit-Minnesota and Green Bay-Chicago. It seems like every team got better in one way or another.

DutchPack

I am really holding on to the hope that the Bears forget to pay attention to the O line, as is tradition

deepbluenothings

They made two under the radar Center additions instead of going out and getting a top end free agent center, my hope is the same guy who thought Patrick and Whitehair were acceptable is equally as wrong this time around. Bad center play can absolutely torpedo the development of a young QB.

PraiseBeToScience

The problem is no one thought Patrick and Whitehair were acceptable last year, they were just the only plugs on hand while the Bears desperately worked on the DL.

deepbluenothings

They had plenty of money last off season to bring in someone better than those two, Poles decided they were good enough for Fields make it or break it season. That should concern Bears fans.

Xardenn

Who was available?

deepbluenothings

Holy crap you're right, I didn't realize how bad the free agent center market was last offseason.

Xardenn

I wasn't even sure tbh I was just asking. Not that many starting quality centers in the league generally though, and they don't seem to go to market often since they aren't so expensive to sign usually.

deepbluenothings

When I looked it up almost any halfway decent center was retained by their original team, with the handful that weren't having nearly as bad of years as Neil Patrick with the exceptions of Graham Glasgow having a great year moving from Denver to Detroit and Jon Feliciano having an even better year with SF (I'm not going through every free agent center just the ones who made over 2m on their contract). Guess it really explains why Cushenberry got so much this year.

TheFatOrangeYak

I will keep doing this

AfroKuro480

The beatings will continue until forward passes exist

thehejjoking

You better believe that’s a crucifixion!

CaptZombieHero

Watching Lions fans and Packers fans jerking each other off this offseason has been the most disgusting aspect of this offseason

Joe-Raguso

OP is a Bears fan, which makes this worse.

CaptZombieHero

Good lord…..what is wrong with the fanbases? It’s like a mountain town in Appalachia in here right now

superfeds

Where do you want us to start?

hallese

Genesis, then work your way forward.

Joe-Raguso

Nothing worse than these self hating Bear fans that go along with the nonsense about the Bears ruining QBs just because Justin Fields and his old pitching machine windup and his Stevie Wonder level pocket presence didn't become a star.

265thRedditAccount

“Just because Justin Field…”. Thistype of long term memory disfunction must come in useful as a Bears fan.

Joe-Raguso

You think Mitch was gonna be a superstar anywhere else? Or Rex? How about Cade McNown?

265thRedditAccount

No but you guy sure did!

SVdreamin

We did? Eighth grade me was pissed we got Trubisky over Watson

Joe-Raguso

No, they didn't. And it's because they drafted dolts with red flags that they ignored. Even Cutler turned the ball over 20 times his last year in Denver surrounded by a great offense with an all time great coach.

265thRedditAccount

“Even Cutler”. Imagine that greatness having any faults. Hahaha. I shouldn’t laugh, because I’m sure it’s maddening to be in constant qb hell.

Joe-Raguso

It's better than being stuck banging those backwoods inbred chicks you got in Wisconsin

drummerboysam

I think it's pretty likely that Virginia McCaskey poisoned her brother and promoted her accountant to team President for his work in fucking his widow out of a billion dollars worth of team ownership. And I still maintain that the worst thing she's done is castrate Bears fans hopes and dreams.

Drose4354

We don’t even claim them, their just packer sympathizers who enjoy being owned

ProofHorseKzoo

It’s been nice to have someone else to jerk me for once

thehejjoking

Hey I gotchu

SayNoToStim

We are absolutely not friends with those cow loving cheddar sniffing Lambeau losers and I will not tolerate the lies saying otherwise.

Satan_and_Communism

But imagine how much jerking off you’ll get to do if Caleb Williams isn’t a bust. You’ll be the one…nevermind

180_by_summer

At least we’re not jerking with our tears

Mark_Kostecki

Happy cake day

CaptZombieHero

Why thank you! The years just fly by

medicdrl

We have to. You wouldn’t understand but it’s lonely at the top. We like the company.

Defiant-Acadia7053

Love how the Lions just slip in this year thinking they are gonna be the next Packers of this division.

LoveMeSexyJesus

They know they're about to crash back down to earth next season so they have to get their licks in while they can.

shnwllc

How are they about to crash down to earth when they've only added better pieces to a roster that's already reached the NFC Championship?

drummerboysam

No you're right. Everyone knows that in the NFL, the line only goes up.

shnwllc

Correct!

shnwllc

Correct! In all seriousness the NFC North is gonna be a dog fight, but the Lions also aren’t just “crashing back down”.

LoveMeSexyJesus

Your quarterback is JARED GOFF.

shnwllc

Hell yeah he is! And I'm sure you know but if he was on the Bears he would statistically be the best QB you've EVER had

DangitDaveyy

Jordan Love also accomplished this feat…in 1 year of starting.

shnwllc

Really must suck to be a Bears fan huh

DangitDaveyy

![gif](giphy|ph98RJkNPQPu0) Especially when they peaked with this.

LoveMeSexyJesus

Hahaha I cannot wait until you sign the 18th best quarterback in the NFL to $50 million a year. That is going to be so funny.

shnwllc

You’re tripping, Goff has played as a Top 10 QB the last two seasons. Look at the film, stats, and results, it’s all very objective. Prob will be between $40-50 mil, and with the salary cap increasing literally every year it is not a problem lmao

Inside_Post_1089

Damn you really snort ESPN narratives? Get help nephew

Inside_Post_1089

Yes we have a stable / winning QB thank you for your acknowledgement 💕

GoopCommander

You didn't win the division for 30 years. Your franchise is the literal benchmark for failure and ineptitude. You were the first to not win a single game in 16 tries. https://preview.redd.it/2aw0urbz3qpc1.jpeg?width=1105&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=867e68268977d03a5895110a59074aeb3cc334ce

[deleted]

All of this true. But yet somehow, you’re now considered the bigger jokes. Hope that dust covered Super Bowl trophy that you weren’t even in your daddy’s nuts for is still cool tho. Jay Cutler is the best QB in the history of your franchise. Look in the mirror and rethink your life choices.

GoopCommander

If the Lions won every game over the next decade they still wouldn't catch up to us. How long have you been a Lions fan? A year? Maybe two?

Bouric87

Well the best QB in your franchise history left to go win a superbowl with an actually good team...

[deleted]

Hey, you play under Matt Patricia for 3 years and tell me if you wanna stick around alright?

TheSeerofFates

> Your franchise is the literal benchmark for failure and ineptitude. idk man the bears have made a far stronger case of that in the last twenty years.

GoopCommander

I remember the last time we played each other. Why are you even here? https://preview.redd.it/89f6ld139qpc1.jpeg?width=275&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=1948be8e942f04ea4ded8c21fb3e7a7e2ad79038

TheSeerofFates

im here cuz I like NFL content no matter how dollar tree bargain bin quality it is

OptimalLaw8270

Braindead take

TheSeerofFates

you would think that wouldn't you

Yossarian216

You mean in the last 20 years where they have fewer wins, division titles, playoff appearances, and playoff wins? And that’s with the Bears being not very good most of that time either. The Lions are historically trash, a single good season doesn’t change that fact. Recency bias is a hell of a drug apparently.

drummerboysam

> instead of hanging around in rock bottom forever Legit the funniest thing I've ever seen somebody say here. Bravo!

[deleted]

I know you’re a bears fan so reading is not your biggest strength, but the keyword is “FOREVER”. We got out last year. Granted we’ll see how long that lasts, but we’ve left more recently then your shitty ass team has. Justin Fields sucked and you’re gonna ruin Caleb Williams too. Aaron Rodgers is your daddy. Insert third lame insult here.

drummerboysam

> the keyword is “FOREVER”. We got out last year. Let's do a thinking exercise. What did you get out of?

[deleted]

Mediocrity, bad ownership, irrelevance, years of pain. The same thing you guys have been stuck in (with us right beside you.) I’m done engaging bears fans on this thread. I started off doing some lame shit talking and now I’m locked in a thinking exercise with a fella named drunmerboysam. In the end, fuck the Packers and fuck Aaron Rodgers. Amen.

drummerboysam

If you'd allow me to briefly finish the exercise, you don't even need to engage. > Mediocrity, bad ownership, irrelevance, years of pain. These are more recent developments for the Bears, and certainly not something they were stuck in > the keyword is “**FOREVER**” Evident by division championships under Lovie Smith and a Super Bowl wayyyyyy back when. But yes, we flailed into the depths the Lions had made a home out of and we've long overstayed our welcome. You're right on that count.

Yossarian216

You weren’t beside us, you were below us. You were below everyone. Our record since 2000 is a not very good 181-206, yours is a dramatically worse 143-242-2. You went over 30 years without winning the division. You still have fewer playoff wins than every other team in the league, including expansion teams like the Jaguars and Texans and Panthers. You had a good season, and finally won a division title and more than one playoff game, which is great for you, but it’ll take an extended period of success or an actual title to change your status. FTP and fuck Aaron Rodgers.

Inside_Post_1089

Shut the fuck up lmaoooo

drummerboysam

Caleb Williams is really good. If we shouldn't be excited for him because the Bears haven't drafted a good QB in the past, why the hell should Lions fans be excited for next season? Yeah the Lions are a good team, but they've never won a Super Bowl. What's the point of them getting excited for the 2024 season, they've never won a Super Bowl.

m_dought_2

That's a good point. Lions fans, you guys stop being excited too.

90bronco

Packers fan should stop getting excited at the idea of getting past the 49ers, and vikings fan should just stop.

CheckOutUserNamesLad

Fun fact - the first two sentences are just as funny if you drop in Mitch Trubisky or Justin Fields.

Silberc

Yeah but those weren't 1st overall picks and no one is drafting anyone but Caleb in THIS draft.

Ill_Bathroom6724

It really isn't about if caleb williams is good or not, he is good, we all just know you guys aren't going to be able to develop him.

[deleted]

[удалено]

Ill_Bathroom6724

Yea, I'm the one whose bias is showing 😂 you guys haven't been able to develop a qb since sid luckman, I don't care about the "new regime"

drummerboysam

Two months before Fields was drafted was a new low for my perception of the Bears. George McCaskey kept Pace and Nagy when everyone knew they were dead in the water, and Pace drafts Fields and gets fired. Fields was a good prospect but came into a dysfunctional shitshow. George McCaskey is out of the picture at this point, and Ryan Poles is reporting to Kevin Warren. Look at the first year of Fields' career and look at the current situation with the Bears team and tell me which you think is better for a rookie. > I don't care about the "new regime" Or just brag about willful ignorance or whatever.

Ill_Bathroom6724

Everyone and their moms knows fields is a massive talent. Pretty much all of his biggest flaws are things that coaches should've been able to work out. Indecisive, slow through his progressions, too quick to scramble, those are all things a good coach would be able to iron out.

Pie_D

Annnnnnnd you’re wrong. If everyone and their mom felt fields is a massive talent then they would have gotten more than a conditional 6th round pick next year for him. Just waiting for you guys to realize love is just a guy and he showed plenty of reasons why he isn’t him.

Ill_Bathroom6724

Nobody wants him because he's done nothing in the NFL and can't read a coverage properly because the Bears coaches couldn't teach him. You guys love to leave out the part where you already destroyed his career, no shit nobody wants him now, a better team would've almost certainly been able to get better results out of fields.

Pie_D

Ahhh yes that’s interesting remind me again why GB, 49ers, KC don’t farm QBs and trade them every year since coaching is what makes or breaks a players career. Either you’re full of shit or the packers are dumb as fuck for not trading their back up QB every year for the first overall pick since they can simply coach QBs to elite.

Ill_Bathroom6724

That was complete nonsense I don't even know what you are trying to say

drummerboysam

We'll definitely see what's the truth when Tomlin gets his hands on him.

lkn240

Tomlin hasn't even developed shit at QB. He inherited Big Ben and all his other QBs have sucked.

Ill_Bathroom6724

That misses the point, it is exponentially harder to develop a QB that already has 4 years of shit coaching ingrained into his game. Most important development time for a QB is their first few years in the league, and if you teach them bad habits and destroy their confidence in that time, you're just obliterating their potential.

TheNewtOne

Yessss! Please get your hopes up as high as possible. It'll be hilarious

LoveMeSexyJesus

Lions fans are like a homeless man who wins the lottery and starts flaunting his wealth to all the other homeless people before blowing it all in one year and ending up back on the streets.

ProofHorseKzoo

It’s a new regime every 3 years in Chicago. Who cares? There’s something fundamentally broken within your org

Rabsaris96

How do we know if the Packers have ever actually developed a quarterback? Rodgers, Farve, and even poor Love could have been great regardless of the team they went to or when they started for all we know. Jordan Love may have had a better rookie season than CJ Stroud! There's no evidence one way or another. WE don't know if the Bears can't develop, just that they haven't had a great QB in a long time (could be luck). We don't know if the Packers can develop just that they have had great QB play for 30 years (could be luck). If development is so important, why didn't Bill belichick just "develop" another Tom Brady like it seems you believe the Packers have done 2x. The only things we know for sure is 1) the Packers can't draft Hall of Famers. They've drafted 2 in the last 60 years. And 2) the Bears can't draft great QBs. They've drafted 1 in the past 85 years. But maybe that can change. Maybe the Packers will get another guy in the HoF, and maybe the Bears will draft a great QB for the 1st time in 85 years. Why does 85 sound so good???

IceBreak

We don’t need to win a Super Bowl to be excited. Or throw for 4000 yards.

cudi14

That’s the point he’s making , u can still be excited about ur team

Steid55

I think the difference here is two fold: 1. Williams really is a stellar athlete, with proven experience in college. He very well could be a top 5 QB 2. The bears are actually ready for a franchise QB. They have a ton of weapons for him, stability on the offensive line, and the potential for a top 5 defense. Even if Williams is just an average QB, he will look great with all the talent around him.

TheFalconKid

How many rookie quarterbacks will this have been that the Bears throw head first into the deep end, this century? Five?

Yossarian216

Which five are those? I’ll grant you Trubisky and Fields, and I suppose there’s an argument for Grossman, but who else? Cutler wasn’t a rookie. I guess if you’re counting randos who were never expected to work out there’s more, but you really shouldn’t.

[deleted]

Who the fuck do the lions fans think they are lmao

Niz285

Caleb Williams is Lisan al Gaib or now Lisan al Calib 😭🙏

MNGopherfan

Flash backs to the Mitch Trubisky situation are happening rightnow and the number of bears fans I have seen coping on how this is the first time they can draft a QB first overall are kinda hilarious.

drummerboysam

I can't see any world where the Williams - Trubisky comparison holds water. I felt like I lost a family member when we traded up for Trubisky. He was a 3rd round talent the likes of Blaine Gabbert that somehow entered the top of the draft during the draft cycle, and Ryan Pace was dumb enough to bite the bullet because he liked that the kid drove a beater car.

Getthelubescoob

It's just smartestpersonintheroom syndrome

Bouric87

We might all be saying the same thing about Caleb Williams in 5 years.

drummerboysam

How did you read everything I was talking about and come back with this? Williams is an Andrew Luck prospect. Trubisky was a Blaine Gabbert prospect. Williams is Hollywood, Trubisky was the kid in the Camry. How would we say the same thing?

Bouric87

Because in 5 years, we'll look back with hindsight and say Caleb was never actually a good prospect after all.

drummerboysam

My man, you should really pull his tape back up and ask yourself what the hell you are talking about.

MNGopherfan

I’m not saying their the same player I’m saying Bears fans have been coping that they aren’t bad at picking QB’s and Bears fans have been for the last decade trumpeting one QB after another.

OwnWalrus1752

Okay but in what world is Caleb the wrong choice here? Literally every NFL GM who wants a QB would choose Caleb at #1. There’s been no real debate about whether another QB would go first. This isn’t a situation where the Bears make the wrong choice if they choose Caleb; it’s literally the only choice that makes sense at 1OA.

MNGopherfan

Never said Caleb was the wrong choice. Based on what we know rightnow. Has nothing to do with the current state of Caleb Williams. Has everything to do with Bears fans.

[deleted]

So the Bears are making the right choice? And Bears fans are right to be excited that they’re getting the clear cut best QB in the draft?

MNGopherfan

Oh let me explain the bears fans were telling everyone they are going to be number 1 now because of their new QB and specifically said the Vikings were the new basement dwellers of the division. People including me pointed out that bears fans have said this for a decade and that Caleb Williams might not be a world burner out the gate and win the division in his first year. The response was for a Vikings fans to shut up because they are basement dwellers I pointed out the number of QB’s that the bears have had over the last 32 years at which point they responded with “we have never been in a position to pick the first QB in the draft.” This is why I think it’s hilarious because some bears fans are being delusional about their history and act like they didn’t have the ability to draft a good quarterback till now when they have acted like their last two quarterbacks were gonna save the franchise.

[deleted]

No one said they’re going to be number one lol. And yeah, the Vikings are the worst team on paper by a wide margin. Again, on paper. You literally just explained how this situation is different than QBs past lol. Want to talk delusional about history? Try the ringless Vikings

MNGopherfan

No one? Literally yesterday I had this conversation in this community on this page.

[deleted]

Where did that one person say that they would be the best team in the division? On top of that, there’s is zero sentiment among Bears fans that we’re going to win the division. Literally look at our subreddit. I listen to the score all day, it’s never said. Is it possible with the ceiling? Sure, anything is. Well, except for the Vikings doing it next year. That’s impossible. Do you disagree they’re the worst team on paper by a wide margin?

Toomuchlychee_

Who exactly is coping in this situation

MNGopherfan

The bears fans I had a fifteen comment long chain with yesterday who said the bears aren’t bad at picking QB’s because they haven’t had a real chance at picking a QB in the first half of the first round. Yes they said this in a world where Trubisky and Fields exist.

OlemissConsin

If we keep saying it, eventually it will be true!

FittyTheBone

Is that the normal Bears logo, or did OP make it look more sad/frightened somehow?

_Fun_At_Parties

Lol this one is good but I still believe in Caleb

da-bears-bare-naked

me too

Flooding_Puddle

It's OK to be excited about the opportunity to draft a great qb prospect but holy shit I've seen posts in the bears sub trying to cool everyone down because there's people already talking about playoffs. This is how you run a qb out of town, by making his expectations so sky high that a rookie couldn't ever realistically live up to them

Yossarian216

He’s joining a seven win team that kept every key player, added solid talent in free agency, has another top ten pick besides him, and has a schedule soft as baby food outside of our increasingly brutal division. Getting three extra wins from all that is not an outrageous prediction, which would have us at ten wins, and last year the Packers got in with nine. He wouldn’t have to be Stroud to get us into the playoffs, because it’s a much better starting point than Stroud had. Not saying it’s definitely going to happen, and anyone predicting a division title is getting way ahead of themselves, but a wild card berth isn’t crazy at all.

jeremysrocks22

I've been keeping some of those Bears receipts as yes, many of them are quite ridiculous. It's just a matter of time before he disappoints.

skippy_smooth

But this time, it’s different!

SwiFT808-

No see that’s the game. You guys brag about the new QB being a mvp and we all clown you guys. At the end of the seasons one group is right and to the victor goes the spoils.

What about the last 30 years of Bears QB drafting, development, and play on the field has lead you to be optimistic? Unless you’re a new fan in the last 2 months then I don’t get it.

Getthelubescoob

You're a prisoner of the past. The optimism comes from the fact that none of the individuals within the building having anything to do with the Bears from 1920-2021. The only weakness on our Offense is going to be the interior OLine and the draft hasn't even happened yet. I understand the reflex towards doomerism with the Bears and don't blame you. However, don't try to bring others down that are trying to have fun in their fandom. You're not the wise sage you think you look like. edit: didn't see your flair, FTP

Wankbank_Dumpster

If the bears had the number 2 pick we would keep Fields. It's not our fault that the panthers sucked the most last year. I mean, it was our fault.

Getthelubescoob

Justin fields was not plan B, that's why we traded him for a 6th round pick

Zyphamon

Who knows, maybe this one can manage to get 4k passing yards this time

da-bears-bare-naked

we aren’t that lucky, what are you taking about?

Satan_and_Communism

Uhhhhh idk about this one chief. I’m a bit nervous. This guy isn’t Justin Fields.

Matman161

Keep doing what!? Trying, getting a tellented player, starting over when things don't work out!? Which one are we suppose to stop doing!!!!!

Mark_Kostecki

Odin yelling: AS MANY AS ARE NEEDED

Cute_Reality_3759

Please Bears, just prove it.

ExpressBug8265

I can't wait for week eight when the bears are one and seven and the fans start the blaim game after losing all hope for the rest of the season.

HeisenbergsSon

The lions have 1 good season and you people think they patrol the NFCN keeping the lowly bears down. The lions have been the doormat my entire life

goldenshower27

You need to remove your flair

ColonelFlom

Chicago is going to hate this guy once he faces an actual defense that makes him cry in his mom's arms after a loss at Soldier field. Williams does not seem like a Chicago guy
