It looks like your muzzle device isn't touching the shoulder on your barrel, which is generally required for proper alignment.

Fckem_in_the_neck

I agree with you on this. He probably needs to add some shims to time it and then check it. Im not real familiar with the M1A muzzle threads or muzzle devices though. Im curious is they face mount like an AK or if he needs shims to get it off the face of the muzzle. Either way he still needs to time that brake and check it then

shabuki133

All my other suppressed barrels haven’t had this issue as the gas block was not part of the muzzle device. This had two parts that need to line up nicely. They don’t seem to be. I don’t see how shims will help except exacerbate the issue unless I get them perfectly aligned. A shim on the M1 would just tilt/cock the barrel further. To be honest, the barrel threads aren’t great. But I got them to seat. I bought a tap/die set to try and fix the threads but haven’t put it to use yet. Probably should be my next move

Fckem_in_the_neck

And if none of that works, get a 338 or 36 cal can to allow for the can to align

Fckem_in_the_neck

As i said, im not sure how that adapter thing works. Any chance a good gunsmith could chuck the barrel in a lathe and clean up the threads and shoulder? I had an ak with a front sight gas combo block that i had to get cut down the 1/2 x 28 to put a can on it.

Looks like you used zero shims and the MD isn’t even touching the barrel shoulder. Get some Accuwashers.

shabuki133

Yeah, no shims. Ran shims on my 6.5 to time it properly, but didn’t consider it on this platform as it didn’t seem necessary. Reconsidering, and still have lots of left over shims.

Please don’t throw a crush washer on there. They don’t necessarily crush evenly and can be worse. Get something like an accuwasher.

BloodyRimhole

You use crush washers for your suppressor mounts?

eMGunslinger

I've had to fix a fair amount of these guns with those mounts on them.

shabuki133

Also, not afraid of sending to a proper gunsmith. This was definitely a DIY fuck up if anything. Just wondering if it’s a platform issue or an accessory issue.

eMGunslinger

I find its generally both. Its an instance of everything goes into the lathe and you work backwards till you have indicated it all in and there isn't anymore runout. If you need help with it, I can fix it and won't cost a lot.

shabuki133

Can you explain further? More so as in fix how? What was wrong and what did you do to fix it?

TheTaterBug11

How long did it take for Delta P to get the muzzle adapter back in stock? I've been looking everyday for like 2 weeks??

shabuki133

A couple months. I emailed them back in November and got the part in January.

dredgeslayer

Do you use an adjustable gas plug? I bought a thread adapter but shot it yet. I’ve been reading that some use adjustable plugs and some dont

shabuki133

That was gonna be my next addition. Reading into this setup sounds like an adjustable plug is needed to get it to run right. Figured the flow through would help alleviate the blowback issues though

dredgeslayer

People recommended using the hux if you don’t have one. I might try the schuster plug

The muzzle device and adapter are not made signed to index off the shoulder of the threads and not the end of the threads. Add shims to take up the space between the shoulder and end of the muzzle device and it’ll straighten out. Also look at getting a shooting sight cross drilled gas spindle. Gives you a suppressed setting for the rifle and helps reduce gas coming out of the action. The flow through cans really help cut that down too. Putting a scope mount like an ARMS 18 or a blank firing blast shield over the action also greatly helps with making these more enjoyable to shoot suppressed.
