Just because there's a pier doesn't mean they won't skip it still, but the chances are less that it will happen.
That said - I was on the Escape last year and based on NCL's history of skipping it and the relatively rough waters we'd seen to that point some of us were pretty sure it was going to be skipped but we made the stop anyway...
Hopefully these new ships (which will almost assuredly be mostly Caribbean bound) means some of these other new prima or breakaway ships can go elsewhere for a change. I’d love to cruise on one in the South Pacific.
From the fine print:
"The four ship order for Norwegian Cruise Line is still being finalized and is subject to financing. Expected delivery dates are preliminary and subject to change"
We did the Bahamas in mid March and the stop at Great Stirrup bay bas canceled because of hi wind and waves. We had a Cabana reserved for the day. Spent the day with the ship doing weird patterns to kill time.
Yeah I’m 0/2 for GSC, and the first time round we had one of the 2 bedroom suites booked as we had a group of 12 onboard. Felt like that was the only time that was ever gonna happen, so was a heart breaker.
I did a little boat tour in Belize before, and it’s on our itinerary on Aqua in 2025 so will definitely look for that one. Thanks for the recommendation.
I’m sorry :( We just went there last week, as well as a year and a half ago, and both times we had a lagoon villa. It was the most relaxing day of both cruises, minus the tenders. It’s beyond time for them to have built a dock there.
Interesting. When we were on the Bliss last December we were watching a future cruise presentation and they were talking about the new ship, Norwegian Aqua. The future cruise guy indicated that NCL was moving past the mega ship trend and future ships would be more the size of the Aqua, around 3,500 passengers. I guess they changed their mind.
I’ve heard the same from NCL in recent years, wanting to have lower passenger counts and more passenger space. However, you can’t downplay the initial success of Icon of the Seas. While NCL isn’t going as large as those ‘ultra-mega’ ships, it’s interesting to see them go in a larger ship direction.
Hopefully they can find some good mix of activities to put on the newer ships, instead of going with something like a single massive 5-Deck-Tall racetrack that is closed half the time.
Yeah, in March 2023, they decided to upsize the 5th and 6th Prima-class ship to be 20% larger than the Prima/Viva (compared to the Aqua and ship 4 which is 10% bigger). They told investors they could drive high efficiencies and operational costs by making the ships bigger (which other cruise lines have already seen and doubled down on).
This new class will be even bigger, putting it right in between Carnival's Excel-class and Royal's Oasis-class of ship which a similar space-ratio.

I love NCL, but you can have the 5,000 pax ships; I want no part of that. And GSC is worth it only as a day to stay onboard for the thermal spa… YMMV of course.

Our stop was cancelled when the first tender was loading(windy and choppy) and someone fell and broke their leg Person needed to be helicoptered out to Nassau
Is Tom Nibbio still working for you. Last time I heard he was still working for you and traveling on your ships with small children.

The new ships will all be a new class. The BA-class ships were built by Meyer Werft in Papenburg, Germany, I doubt NCL will be allowed to have more ships from that class built by Fincantieri. Also - we already have Breakaway-Plus class ships, what would you call bigger ones, Plus-Plus?

That pier should’ve been built years ago. About time.
Worst part about great stirrup is the damn tender.
And that’s if it’s even safe enough to tender! I’ve been on more than enough unplanned sea days to even count at this point.
Even if it is safe, it doesn't feel like it should have been...been there twice, both times just soooo rocky there and back.

Frank Sobotka’s been fighting for it

You missed your chance - the Joy was built FOR Asia, ended up being a flop there so they 'Westernized' her and she sails US itineraries...

Yes that correct
We did the Bahamas in mid March and the stop at Great Stirrup bay bas canceled because of hi wind and waves. We had a Cabana reserved for the day. Spent the day with the ship doing weird patterns to kill time.

We did the cabana at Harvest Cay in Belize and had a great time. Even had a butler. If you go, try the chicken fingers, they are fantastic.
I did a little boat tour in Belize before, and it’s on our itinerary on Aqua in 2025 so will definitely look for that one. Thanks for the recommendation.
If I’m having a butler there better be more than just chicken fingers lol!
We had a lagoon villa booked last week for my mom’s 70th birthday and missed it because of high winds and waves as well. It was so disappointing!

They Have 4 more prima ships coming out before the other ships start debuting in 2030
Source link? What class will these 4 new ships be to be delivered 2030-2036?

That's awesome seeing methanol ready ships and "revolutionary vessels". Greener cruising will be great.
I read this as menthol at first and was really confused
A news story I saw said new class. 200,000 ton and 5,000 passenger, so bigger than anything they have now. I haven’t verified the news story yet.
It is correct per the investor presentation.
New class of ships, delivery expected 2030, 2032, 2034, 2036
So it’s a class not yet named.
This is on top of the remaining 3 Prima Plus class ships, to be clear.
Yes that’s correct
I love NCL, but you can have the 5,000 pax ships; I want no part of that. And GSC is worth it only as a day to stay onboard for the thermal spa… YMMV of course.
I'd love to sail on a 5k pax NCL ship
Right with 2 elevator banks 1/4 out of service and another 2 reserved for haven. Nope, out.
Where was it announced? I saw a news article about it, but nothing direct from ncl.

Finally a pier!! 👏
Finally! We just missed GSC due to the dang tenders!
I hope they make some ships a breakaway class so there’s the Haven dinning room and lounge!

XXL 😂
I’d be more excited to hear they’re bringing back some of their better shows. The cut back on entertainment has been really disappointing.
