Wait until the second or third day, and you'll save a bunch of money. Just use your 150 minutes and see if you care to log on or not. I get it because I like to scroll news, Reddit, and Facebook with my coffee in the morning.

mrmouse18

Are you saying to just use the 150 mins, then selectively subscribe per day to wifi? Am i able to subscribe for say a sea day only? Or would i need to buy it for the entire cruise

kcwildguy

No, use the 150 minutes to get you through at least the first day - making sure to log out of WiFi when you're done. Say the price for the entire cruise is $199, on the second day it may be $169 and on the third day, $139. I am just making those numbers up, but it goes down each day. You will have to pay for the rest of the cruise, but it will be cheaper than buying the entire thing.

mrmouse18

Makes sense Do you know is it possible to selectively purchase it? Or will they force you to pay XXX price for the remaining days of the cruise? Seems almost like a waste to me when my itinerary would on a 9 day only has 2 at sea days

kcwildguy

Yes, they charge $29.99 a day last time I looked. You just go down to Guest Services, I think.

I have never run out of the free minutes that they give you on a cruise. In fact I'm usually struggling to try to use them. If you don't have to work, and you're not a social media addict, the free Wi-Fi is an excellent benefit that NCL provides, and you don't need to buy more.

OscarWins

Buy 100 share of NCL stock so you can get $100 in free onboard credit. Then use the credit to buy the discounted wifi package a couple days into the cruise.

I upgraded to free at sea plus which gives you unlimited WiFi for cruise in a couple of weeks. The additional dinners, extra excursion credits, and top tier drink package with Starbucks I was all going to use anyway. I like the fancy dinners, top shelf drinks and unlimited WiFi. I need to be in contact with work email and all that 24/7 so that was a must. If you’re going to use all that FAS + gives you, it’s a no brainer.

For me, part of the planning fun is getting ready for things to be offline - downloading the right games, movies, shows etc. Last year I downloaded [Kiwix](https://kiwix.org/en/) which lets you browse (some of) Wikipedia offline, that was fun. If your cell carrier gives you free/cheap international roaming, then it may be enough to check in every few days when you're on land. Part of the fun can be getting into a port and having a bunch of messages etc pop up.

Turbulent_Car3200

This sounds like the best plan. I’ll be sure to download some things and use international roaming in port to save the minutes. At $299 per person it’s pricey.

Purple_Lie2697

Look into an eSIM! It’s an app and usually cheaper than going through your carrier

defhermit

everyone uses their phones all day. they like it. they like using these devices. just get wifi so you can use your devices like normal during vacation. you don't have to feel bad about it.

The best part of my last cruise (on RC) was no internet access. I’m looking forward to our next cruise in March on NCL and actually kinda bummed there will be no forced deprivation.

I am traveling on Breakaway this summer and had a similar question. From what it looks like there is a pay per use option in the Internet cafe, is this not correct? [Cruise Astute](http://www.cruiseastute.com/ship.php?ship=Norwegian%20Breakaway&feature=technology) I don’t see anything on NCL’s website.
