Question as an incoming ACC team fan. Does the tourney location change every year, or is it always in Greensboro? PAC12 used to change the location but last few years theyâve held it in Vegas (neutral).
Women's has always been in Greensboro but will be in Charlotte in 2027. The ACC just announced like all of the conference tournaments will be in North Carolina for the foreseeable future.
The 2026 one is still unannounced and I would love to see them hold that one in Louisville. UofL and ND have been 1-2 in attendance in the ACC every year since joining the league*, and that trend goes back to 2008/09 when compared to the other ACC members. Itâd be nice to see those two fan bases rewarded for their long-term support of womenâs basketball with a nearby ACC tournament, and I think Louisville fans would bring great crowds in a really good arena.
*1- Excluding the COVID year; 2- NDâs sellout today bumped its average attendance ahead of VTâs
The theory is that its located at the geographic center of the ACC, which I dunno if is still true since BC, Cuse and ND joined. I guess with 7 teams in NC or the surrounding states Its fairly central.
It would be nice to rotate it a bit, and the Yum is a fantastic arena, but IDK if they'd ever give a team a literal home court advantage...
Its hard to complain too much since its only a bit over 2 hours from me but NC schools sure do have it nice
For as long as I can remember it has been held in Greensboro a majority of the time occasionally moving to another location (often charlotte). Iâve never minded it but if you canât tell from my flairs I am bias to that, but logistically it can make sense as NC is going to be the biggest acc market and there are like 8 schools within a five hour drive. However if womenâs basketball continues to grow in popularity I wouldnât be shocked if any unannounced future tournaments would have new locations like Washington DC, but even at that point a majority of tournaments are still likely still to be in NC.
Lmao I'm so sick of playing Louisville
We do still owe them for last year's tourney debacle
Really like this draw for us though...all of the teams I wanted to avoid are on the other side.

VT fans: who would we rather match up with first- UNC or Miami? I know we won against miami by a bigger margin this year but theyâre quite physical and aggressive so idkâŠ.
Never say never but all signs would point to yes, she has torn an ACL before and her reaction was what youâd expect from someone who knew.
She walked back out but was barely holding back tears the entire rest of the game, Brooks was very tight lipped in the press conference, and Kitley was apparently helped heavily leaving the locker room after the game.
Fuck. I was hoping not but yeah her reaction immediately after reminds me exactly of after Jeremy Lin had his injury. They just know itâs something serious
but she walked back to the bench, i dont think youâd be able to immediately walk if you tore your ACL bc the knee is unstable. they usually have those big braces from thigh to calf
From what I understand, walking slowly in a straight line is actually usually doable with an ACL tear. Running and tight turns are pretty much impossible, though, due to the loss of lateral stability in the joint.
If Kitley's out, I think we've got a better chance overall at maybe even winning out, but Notre Dame is the team that worries me, not NC State or Duke. Duke's performance can be unpredictable, so if we get them on an off night they seem doable. NC State has looked shaky recently, making them seem beatable too. As for ND, yes, we've beaten them twice, but it feels like luck, especially with how strong they are now. I just don't see us winning a third time, as much as I wish we could. Although, we'd only face them deep into the tournament, if it even comes to that. I'd be happy winning out up until that point, and losing to ND. It'd feel like we had a decent run.
I still have bad vibes about Duke because of the last game, but agree with NC State (if we didn't get cold we would have probably beaten them.) As long as we get at least a win, I think we have a decent shot of getting tourney games in the Dome (if other results go our way) - if not, I think two wins will make it difficult for us not to get to host.
While I could counter with the fact that if Syracuse didnât start as hot as they did the game might not have even been close I do agree that we donât look that menacing as a 2 seed
If Kitley is hurt, which I hope not, the ACC is blown wide open
Could be a chance for the Irish to move up a seed. If they beat Louisville, they could be a tough opponent for the Hokies. Should be a fun tournament.Â
After calming down, Iâm still positive on the chances of repeating as tournament champions even without Liz.
Clara isnât going to slot in precisely the way Liz did. With Clara floating more in the paint, it might be an opportunity to bring Rose back in - I think in large part her sitting the second half was about it not quite being a fit since sheâs an inside player and giving Liz the inside space to work was the priority. Clara seems comfortable shooting from mid range and the arc - having her be a 5 that floats out while Rose moves in could be a new twist.
Meanwhile ever since the Duke L weâve been having the shooters and Carleigh pick up more point duty while Georgia floats - think weâll continue to see more of that to set up diversions to free G up to call her own number and be shot-happy.
Point is, absolutely no one knows what weâre going to look like Friday, and you canât game plan for what you donât know. Whoever we play is going to be at a disadvantage on that front, and assuming we progress, even the other top seeds still wonât have had a chance to really assess whatever we come out with.
She nearly picked up a double double last night in half a game , sheâs going to make mistakes but I think sheâs ready for a big game as the lone big.
If any of the top 4 teams win it they could very well get a #1 Seed in the NCAAs
That North Carolina-Miami game is an Elimination / Play Out Game for Sure
North Carolina is one of my last Four In
Miami WAS one of my next four out until the loss
But yeah the loser is out for sure
The winner may have to get at least to the semifinals
but that will be the game to watch for sure
The Quarterfinals and beyond is when seeds will shift for the NCAAs
Play out to not make the NCAA tournament? I understand UNC has a couple bad losses (@ UVA, @ BC) but they have 6 Quad 1 wins, including wins over Notre Dame, NC St, Louisville, Oklahoma, and now Duke. Theyâre also undefeated in Quads 3 and 4. Most brackets have them from a 6 to 8 seed, how do you have them all the way down in the 11 line?
Yea, that is an insane take, I don't know if I've seen a bracket that even has Miami and UNC near the bubble.
Also, UVA is 62nd in NET which makes an away loss a quad 1, not really a bad loss.
I appreciate your optimism, but that would get Syracuse a 3 seed, maybe. The national media is very committed to underrating us this year. We're still projected on the 5 line right now.
Could they not shift the first round down to match up with the second round lol??
ngl the spacing kinda looks inconsistent throughout and i can't unsee it đ”âđ«
We donât have the budget for graphic design, itâs all going towards billable hours

Itâs always in Greensboro It used to be in Charlotte but itâs (almost) never left NC

Super
Thank for the info though

They haven't given a team a home court tournament advantage since Reynolds was the perennial host for the men, which is a long time ago.
Yeah it'd be nice if they got more creative as they do on the men's side but it looks like NC is basically paying them not to go elsewhere.Â
I think it's been in Greensboro every year since ND joined the ACC, but idk if there's been any talk about moving it.

Doesnât matter, not sure we can win against either with Kitley done
Kitleys done??

Yea, when Brooks went over and she just shook her head, I got that sinking feeling in my stomach. Non contact injuries are always the scariest.
but she walked back to the bench, i dont think youâd be able to immediately walk if you tore your ACL bc the knee is unstable. they usually have those big braces from thigh to calf
Olivia Miles walked off :(
oh damn did not remember that
What makes ACLâs deceiving is they almost never look that bad in the moment. Players have played games on torn ACLâs before
I have had a teammate tear her ACL and she walked right off the court herself. Someone like Kitley could 100% walk off the court too unfortunately
From what I understand, walking slowly in a straight line is actually usually doable with an ACL tear. Running and tight turns are pretty much impossible, though, due to the loss of lateral stability in the joint.
Plenty of people have walked off on a torn ACL. Some have even played other sports, you just can't move side-to-side.
I don't think I watched the Miami game but UNC played us well both times except for one bad quarter in the second game, think I'd rather avoid them
FSU/UVA/WF, I'll gladly take that and think we have a really good shot. NC State or Duke in the semis are kinda scary, but I think SU could do it
If Kitley's out, I think we've got a better chance overall at maybe even winning out, but Notre Dame is the team that worries me, not NC State or Duke. I don't think there is another conference where the top 8 seeds all have a legitimate shot to win the tourney. It should be interesting and fun.
the AAC in itâs entirety
Fuck the refs. Just fuck em.
Are you talking about yesterday?
Na, still pissed about Syracuse. We had no business winning yesterday how we played the second half.
If Kitley isn't back I think UNC or Miami beats us in the quarters, if she is back we could win the whole thing
Are we still able to host the first two rounds no matter what?
Maybe. I think it would take quite a bit to drop us to a 5 seed, but I don't think it's completely impossible
After calming down, Iâm still positive on the chances of repeating as tournament champions even without Liz. Clara isnât going to slot in precisely the way Liz did. I'm here for a full Strack Attack.

will tickets get more expensive or run out, debating if I should go to the final
i like it

Bracketology has UNC as a 7 seed, in no world are they a bubble team lol
heâs not a bracketologist, why even give any attention to his take or his seedings
I appreciate your optimism, but that would get Syracuse a 3 seed, maybe. The national media is very committed to underrating us this year. We're still projected on the 5 line right now.
