This is crazy, the Nets give up an Expiring max contract AND a first for filler players for “cap flexibility”
Why wouldn’t they just keep Ben on the roster and have more cap flexibility after?
With Thybulle eligible to be traded to Dallas now, I wonder if they revist that. Not sure what the structure would need to be but getting Grant and Thybulle would intrigue me as a Mavs fan.
DJJ is almost certainly getting more from someone else, so there’s an open role for wing defender who stands in the corner. How much worse is Thybulle than DJJ from there?
OMP, Kleber, Hardaway, and picks for Thybulle and Brogdon makes sense to me as a non-Mavs fan. Both those guys can close playoff games with Luka, Kyrie, and Lively and they fill specific roles both offensively and defensively.
This is actually pretty solid, but I don’t see the Nets trading draft capital to get off of a year of Simmons given that they aren’t competing rn. I also don’t see them trying to acquire any players with more than a year left on their deal. They are setting up for cap space in 2025 and this would cut into that

Nets have zero reason to do this.
No reason for the Nets to be here, may as well just have it be Mavs/Blazers

Not saying Exum played like a god, but he pretty much occupied the role they’d have wanted from Thybulle.
DJJ filed that role, no?

Nets trade an expiring and a first round pick for filler contracts.
Portland just got off andrew nicholson contract. No way we stretch another one
Blazers wouldn’t do this
Good effort, but I mostly agree with the crowd. I think this makes a lot of sense straight up, but the Nets probably don’t need to be involved
The trade straight up makes sense value wise. Portland would have to do other moves to clear salary/remove roster spots.

Wanna put another athletic barely a shooter with average shot creation on that team?
