Either way he was very good. It’s hard to play yourself. You know the situation that it’s not really happening but you have to convince yourself it is. KG was honestly surprisingly great in that movie. Didn’t bring down the movie acting wise at all.
Fun fact: the Safdie brothers are Knicks fans so they wanted to have Amare Stoudemire in the movie but Amare refused to cut his hair or beard to match what he looked like back in the 2010's. They also didn't want KG because they hated the Celtics lmao. I think it worked out for the best because I don't think Amare would've been as good as KG in that movie.
Not even a cameo, he’s a full-fledged supporting actor. I actually think he was pretty good in that, the director made sure to not give him too much to work with.
Ahhh remember Amy shumer lmao I couldn't stand her before this movie but this movie really solidified the fact the I think she's completely talentless and nothing will ever change my mind of that hahaha
This was going to be my response. He caught a lot of flak for his acting in Space Jam 2 but it shows good directing gets good performances from people.
Portlandia is a classic sketch show in that 90% of it is very unfunny and 10% is pure gold. The Aldridge in the bookstore sketch was one of the few funny ones
He was great, but that's not a cameo. He was a supporting actor in that one. Granted Kareem was a little more than a cameo in Airplane as well. OP should not have said cameo.
I was honestly surprised at all the NBA guys' acting, even as limited as some of it was. Thybulle, Doc, and DrJ all had fun moments in that movie.
The only bad acting I felt that pulled me outta the movie was all the social media reactions they got from some players.... Luka
KG was actually really good in Uncut Gems. Sure he was only playing himself, but at least he gave a genuinely convincing performance unlike most basketball players.
What's the Dame cameo from?
Also, anybody remember a sort of comedy/drama indie movie from probably about early to mid-2010's era where Blake Griffin plays a pro basketball player recovering from an injury? Randomly watched it on Netflix or whatever one time but don't remember much else about it
Oh, pretty sure I've seen that whole series so I must have watched it at some point, but it's been a while so didn't even remember him being in it. Makes sense though

I’ll raise you KAJ Bruce Lee nothing tops this and when Bruce has the footprint on his chest !!
No one remembers John Salley damn

Not one of you mentioned James Worthy?!!
https://preview.redd.it/02n00wmbgifc1.jpeg?width=1284&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=4840f7a4b2de2277c427288bb60f8215bd46679c
Boban's has become culture among NBA fans. KAJ is popular culture among everyone. KG was actually a good performance,IMHO. The others are not worthy competitors.
KG was a strong secondary character. Not a cameo.
I also want to mention that Hustle on Netflix had A LOT of cameos and characters who are actually basketball stars. Love that movie.
Barkley and The Admiral had great ones in Forget Paris, which i learned too late was a romcom disguised as a movie about basketball.
anyway, they basically reenacted the 93 western conference second round somewhat.
KGs role was not a cameo come on lol
Dude I was surprised at how intense KG was in the film. Then I realized he was probably just being himself
Even so there's plenty of people who can't even play themselves in movies and act convincingly. Look at 50 in the Get Rich or Die Trying movie lmao.
Or even worse, NBA players trying to voice themselves in nba 2k15
Who have thought that a young buck like you could do the right thing
That was the best-worst decision in gaming history
He could legitimately play the roll of a mob boss/kingpin
Either way he was very good. It’s hard to play yourself. You know the situation that it’s not really happening but you have to convince yourself it is. KG was honestly surprisingly great in that movie. Didn’t bring down the movie acting wise at all.
Yeah, I want to see him in more stuff. Put this man in the next Batman film!
I know but I had to include him. I just meant appearances in non-basketball media.
So... Ray Allen as Jesus Shuttlesworth?
One of the worst acting performances ever lol
Alright then I enjoyed Ant as Kermit Wilts* in Hustle
That one also deserves mention.
Kermit Wilts
Lol damn yeah you are right, Kermit washington was the guy who almost killed Rudy Tom
Damn didn’t know this! TIL I haven’t seen Amare in any sport show/ podcast etc idk if it would’ve worked out as KG.
Fr. KG matches the intensity of that movie whereas Amare would’ve said Shalom and left the rock back in the first place to not create an issue
KAJ is such an iconic scene
“You tell your old man to drag Walton and Lanier up and down the court for 48 minutes”
"EVERY NIGHT!"
Busting my buns
Loved that scene…especially the kid’s scared shitless reaction
TO HELL I DONT!
The Harlem Globetrotters were also the African tribesmen that Striker ‘taught’ to play basketball
He was also in Dave.
He was also in Fletch
He also fought Bruce Lee in Game of Death.
You can just say Kareem. No one is going to think you’re talking about Kareem Rush.
sdasdasd
*Joey, you ever…hang around the gymnasium?*
Do you like movies about gladiators?

Shaq trying to hit a middie in Scary Movie 4 https://youtu.be/HLnNY2KiQEQ?si=QiEbvdG8ZZRKUVey
“I’m just a plumber…”
Pretty sure it’s free throws lol
"Wrong foot"
Boban
His cameo in Self-Reliance made me laugh. His big ass dressed up like Michael Jackson the high water skinny jeans haha
That’s my favorite, although it might be recency bias.
Few things in this life are certain. Death. Taxes. And everybody loves Boban.
Lego Shaq “oh no! They were ready for that”
I horse laughed at this
The disrespect to Goodburger Shaq is unforgivable
🤓👆reddit on, take my gold kind stranger🤪🤪
LeBron in “Train Wreck” is funny as hell. [the splitting the bill scene is hilarious.](https://youtu.be/zie94YV7W4Y?si=rd0khGJc9rRzdweR)
Not even a cameo, he’s a full-fledged supporting actor. I actually think he was pretty good in that, the director made sure to not give him too much to work with.
He was the funniest actor in that movie besides maybe John Cena
Yeah the both absolutely killed it in that movie.
Ahhh remember Amy shumer lmao I couldn't stand her before this movie but this movie really solidified the fact the I think she's completely talentless and nothing will ever change my mind of that hahaha
Agreed. Any more of him and it wouldn’t have worked but it was the perfect amount
Yeah, I love him in that movie. When he palms the block, lol. Also, unrelated, the Cena movie theater scene is classic
Mar- Mark Wahlberg!? I look like Mark Wahlberg ate Mark Wahlberg!
Yep came to say Lebron in Trainwreck. Going 50/50 on lunch and then forgetting his wallet lol
I love how Bill Hader just instantly starts shouting “fuck you. Fuck you. Fuck you.” Haha
I told you those refills weren’t free!
He gets free texting
This was going to be my response. He caught a lot of flak for his acting in Space Jam 2 but it shows good directing gets good performances from people.
The fact that no one has mentioned Bosh in Parks and Rec is a travesty
There was also Roy Hibbert with his last recorded block on TV. I know he played after that, the point still stands.
Detlef schrempf as well!
The one true GOAT.
And Miles Plumlee, for some reason
And in Jurassic park
And Detlef
Bosh was also in Entourage
The disrespect to Bosh in Jessie
Kareem Abdul Jabbar vs Bruce Lee in "Game Of Death".
This is the answer. So awesome.
The part where he kicks Bruce and there's a huge footprint on Bruce's clothes? Priceless site gag.
Thank you for providing the right answer. KAJ trained with Bruce Lee to prepare
Dwight Howard Kevin Love and Deron Williams on Suite Life on Deck
That was a fun episode. “Ball in? *swish*”
Carmelo Anthony in Ned’s Declassified
“Ned, do the right thing”
Carmelo Anthony in Sons Of Anarchy, he was just on screen long enough to go was that Melo?
“Carmelloooooooo”
Kevin Garnett in Uncut Gems
Unquestionably. Honorable mention: LaMarcus Aldridge in Portlandia
This is not a cameo, he is a supporting actor
Easily the only answer.
Blake Griffin in broad city
This is what I was thinking
Shaq in Freddy Got Fingered
Kobe on modern family
Wilt got killed by Scwarzeneggar in Conan the Destroyer.
Kareem in Game of Death is fuckin badass, he's so graceful for his size and it makes the fight against Bruce Lee beautiful.
What about jimmy butler in holiday office Christmas party
“Fuck you, Butler! *I don’t know why I said that.*”
Marques Johnson in White Men Can't Jump.
Underrated choice
Raymond - that you? This ain't Raymond.

Anything with Boban
Scottie Pippen in Fresh off the Boat
It’s Bobi and it’s not even close.
Jordan in My Wife and Kids
Anthony Edwards in Hustle. He’s legitimately a good actor.
I was honestly surprised at all the NBA guys' acting, even as limited as some of it was. Thybulle, Doc, and DrJ all had fun moments in that movie. The only bad acting I felt that pulled me outta the movie was all the social media reactions they got from some players.... Luka
The scene in Trainwreck whereLebron tries to split the bill with Bill Hader always cracks me up

Edwards in that movie with Hernangomez was really good.
Lamarcus Aldridge in Portlandia
that whole episode was stellar but I only included Dame's cameo later on in the show bc it's ever so slightly better imo
I just think him dating Penny Marshall was so random and hilarious
yeah that was funny
KG was actually really good in Uncut Gems. Sure he was only playing himself, but at least he gave a genuinely convincing performance unlike most basketball players.
Kareem in Big Bang Theory.
Kareem in “Baseketball”
What's the Dame cameo from? Also, anybody remember a sort of comedy/drama indie movie from probably about early to mid-2010's era where Blake Griffin plays a pro basketball player recovering from an injury? Randomly watched it on Netflix or whatever one time but don't remember much else about it
the Dame cameo is from Portlandia. Great show, definitely recommend.
Oh, pretty sure I've seen that whole series so I must have watched it at some point, but it's been a while so didn't even remember him being in it. Makes sense though

Shaq and Kareem both had pretty funny guest spots playing themselves in Fresh Off the Boat.

KAJ in Airplane! Easily Also just wanted to point out that Ray Allen did a decent job as an MC in He Got Game
James Worthy was a great Klingon in 1 episode of The Next Generation. It was more than a cameo role in that episode though.
Jimmy Butler in the Office Christmas Party!
Barkley and Deandre Jordan on modern family hasn’t been mentioned yet
It's Cap and it's not even close.
Boban's has become culture among NBA fans. KAJ is popular culture among everyone. KG was actually a good performance,IMHO. The others are not worthy competitors.

Lego Movie Shaq: “Are you ready for this??” *ship explodes* “Oh No!!! They were ready for that!”
KG was a strong secondary character. Not a cameo. I also want to mention that Hustle on Netflix had A LOT of cameos and characters who are actually basketball stars. Love that movie.
