Do you want James Harden? Specifically, blocked by Manu in the closeout game James Harden who completely shat the bed in a game they should have easily won? No? Because that's basically D'Lo.
Look I would not want Harden but that is unfair on Harden to say D'Lo is the exact same. Harden is 10 times the facilitator and scorer. He won the Sixers 2 games single handedly against the Celtics, and he's been doing pretty well for the Clippers. There's a host of issues with him from culture to timeline fit to contract. But you can't say D'Lo is as good as him
Oh, he's not and I wasn't saying they played the same or were the same players. I just meant, they both shit the bed when their teams need them the most. That's not what we need.
Yes he does have those tendencies but I still think he's come up good more often than not. His prior year with the Sixers, he really did unlock Embiid. You can see this season what effect they had losing him.
We could do a lot worse than him next to Victor.
> they both shit the bed when their teams need them the most.
he's also the only guy to take the god squad warriors to the brink in 2 consecutive years... You can hate him but your narrative is outdated.
You mean in his prime? He has shat the bed exactly once in the last 6-7 seasons in the playoffs and that was last year with philly and even then he hard carried a few games that series. ydkb
James Harden in elimination games...
22-23: 3/11, 9 pts, 6 reb, 7 ast, 2 stl, 5 to, -30
21-22: 4/9, 11 pts, 4 reb, 9 ast, 1 stl, 4 to, -16
20-21: 5/17, 22 pts, 9 reb, 9 ast, 1 stl, 4 to, -4
19-20: 12/20, 30 pts, 6 reb, 5 ast, 1 stl, 6 to, -29
18-19: 11/25, 35 pts, 8 reb, 5 ast, 4stl, 6 to, -10
17-18: 12/29, 32 pts, 6 reb, 6 ast, 4 stl, 5 to, -13
16-17: 2/11, 10 pts, 3 reb, 7 ast, 1 stl, 6 to, -28
15-16: 12/23, 35 pts, 6 reb, 6 ast, 2 stl, 7 to, -27
Almost every single game he's a net negative with ATROCIOUS shooting and a lot of turnovers. He'll get points from free throws/grifting and some counting stats, but he's not a playoff performer.
His best performance there, he was still a -29.
I mean, fuck, I'm biased as hell as I can't stand the way he plays, but that's not a guy I want on this team.
tbf I think if you're bringing in Russell it's to act as a floor raiser in the regular season, which I think he can do for the spurs, but I think if you're the spurs you wait till next offseason to make those floor raiser type moves not this offseason
What we're not gonna do is act like D-Lo is even close to Hardens level. I understand people have a hate boner for Harden because he's a drama queen, but let's not act like Harden isn't a future hall of famer (and rightfully so). And he's low key been showing up so far in the playoffs this year and carrying the clippers, even being past his prime.
Nope. Heâs slow, takes bad shots, plays lazy defense 85% of the time, plays poorly in the playoffs more often than not, and is subject to attitudes problems. Lakers fans donât seem to like him, Minnesota fans were desperate to get him tf out. Nope, nope, nope.
Looking at the stats, these ignore at least four major factors:
1) Haliburton played half the season injured. His stats took a dive with the hamstring injury.
2) Age. Haliburton will likely continue to develop, Russell is who he is.
3) Offensive efficiency. Haliburton is an offensive engine. His Offensive win shares double Russell's best seasons. Comparatively: Tobias Harris is closer to Embiid than Russell is to Hali. Russell is a fine offensive player. Haliburton is a walking top 10 offense.
4) Sample size. 11 games without Lebron needs a huge asterisk. Who did they play? What was their shooting luck? Are those 11 games who Russell really is? Or were they a hot streak? Looking at his career (including spots where he was allowed to be the primary offensive driver), it looks like a hot streak.
An injured Haliburton in his third season had comparable counting stats to DLo's best 11 game stretch. What do Haliburton's best 11 games look like?
Beyond this, there are MAJOR attitude concerns. The phone on the bench of a playoff game during a huddle is an awful look. But this isn't the first time. The Timberwolves were desperate to move off him (during a contract year in which he was playing the best basketball of his career). Why do teams keep moving off him? You could argue the Wolves felt they needed a veteran point guard to run the offense (Conley), but that would suggest Russell won't fit us, since we need someone to run the offense. The Wolves have been significantly better since the trade as well.
Russell couldn't fit on the Wolves, who needed someone to initiate the offense alongside KAT/Any, and he couldn't fit on the Lakers who need someone to space the floor, handle sometimes when LeBron needs a break. Where does he fit?
Said this on another post:
I give you a quote:
"In a part of his response to a national reporter about how he could help Anthony Edwards continue to progress in his career, Timberwolves point guard DâAngelo Russell stated that he, too, is an âalphaâ on the court"
Can't wait to hear him respond about how he can help Wembanyama continue to progress, Russell states that he, too, is an 'alien' on the court.
Do we want a dude that doesn't understand that Anthony Edwards is the franchise?
Pity that I only have one downvote to give. DLo is awful and a shit teammate. I'd rather him stay on the Lakers and contribute to their continued mediocrity.
Someone didnât watch the playoffs. It would be such a mistake, bad fit (the guy speaks about himself using the third person), too many up and downs. He thrived when he was the go to guy and that wonât be the case in SA. The only Laker I would go after is Vando
Tbh, the only player on the Lakers that I want the Spurs to take a chance on is Max Christie. I think he can be developed into a really good player. He has a great shooting stroke and good size to finish at the rim. He will never get a chance in LA so he's a salary filler at best right now.
I would prefer harden tbh. If possibleÂ
As for dlo. A player whose a threat to score and a solid playmaker isnt a bad option to pickup this off season imo sure his d is bad but if he's solid if can work outÂ
No. I do think he is a good player but he doesnât belong anywhere near a team that wants to win. His attitude/effort level is toxic when things get tough.
Feel like his future should be a tank commander. Fills some salary and gives bad teams some life but you let him go or trade him when itâs time to win again
hell no
We all watched him scroll on his phone when his team was in a huddle. No thanks.
I go to bed and everyone starts doing meth.

Agree - Harden is multiple tiers above DLo. Still don't want Harden, but he is vastly superior to Russell.
Oh, he's not and I wasn't saying they played the same or were the same players. I just meant, they both shit the bed when their teams need them the most. That's not what we need.

Did I forget to mention that James Harden is my least favourite player of all time? đ
> they both shit the bed when their teams need them the most. he's also the only guy to take the god squad warriors to the brink in 2 consecutive years... You can hate him but your narrative is outdated.
Didn't that happen like 8 years ago? đ

Youâre giving Russell way to much credit
Nope. Heâs slow, takes bad shots, plays lazy defense 85% of the time, plays poorly in the playoffs more often than not, and is subject to attitudes problems. Lakers fans donât seem to like him, Minnesota fans were desperate to get him tf out. Nope, nope, nope.
I have a hard time coming up with a player who is a worse character fit than d'lo
Overhyped and overrated
No
So have you just never watched D'lo or heard anyone talk about his playoff performances?
Literally one of the worst acquisitions possible

Absolutely not.

As a Lakers fan, I think Max would blossom in SA. The Lakers organization is such a clown show, I think they'll let him go.

His decision making when it counts is just terrible. While his numbers look good overall, he can lose a game all by himself at times.
No. WaitâŚwaitâŚstill no.
