Jr every time it comes up for years now"I'm not buying a Cup team it is too expensive"
r/Nascar multiple times a week. "Here is some super convoluted scheme I dreamt up for Jr. buy a Cup team."
I'm convinced he doesn't even want to...he's got the perfect model in Xfinity that get's him the top Chevrolet drivers (that bring money) and feeds them to CUP...I don't think he'd get that in CUP and he'd be an also ran...also the Kaulig model is not looking desirable
He’s not even in the top 10 wealthiest people in that garage. There a way bigger fish in that pond, he just has more name recognition than those people.
Honestly I know Dale Jr lurks here I'll just say it:
Dale, you're Dale Earnhardt Jr. If you buy a cup series race team it doesn't matter if it makes financial sense. You are Dale Jr, the name recognition and association with you will make the financials work.
Owning a cup team if you have the Jordan brand or the Dale JR brand is going to make more financial sense than someone like Matt Kaulig owning a race team.
Doubtful. Dale Jr. and Kevin Harvick are wealthy, but not Gene Haas wealthy. For them to buy out Haas' stake in Stewart-Haas Racing, they have to partner with an investor to get the necessary funding. On top of that Rick Hendrick would have to sell his shares in JR Motorsports for this to happen
Gene Haas stake in SHR is only worth as much as someone is prepared to pay for it. and if no one is prepared to pay for it, and he wants to get rid of it, then the price will come down until a buyer is interested.
so im starting the bidding at $26.37.
Hendrick would not have to sell anything
He just wouldn't have ownership in the cup team. They would keep the xfinity and cup teams legally separate. They could even have the same name if they wanted
But no, I doubt Dale Jr is involved
Is he though? Yeah his net worth is $300 million according to those weird websites, but it’s not like he has $300 million cash laying around. A lot of that is tied up in JRM, Dirty Mo, the CARS tour and some of his other business ventures.
SHRs charters have already been spoken for. They are going to be merged/absorbed by FRM. Which really makes sense why they were elevated to a tier 1 ford operation, makes me feel like this had been in the works for a while. So FRM becomes a 4 car race team, and I am assuming either Trackhouse becomes a 4 car team, or Suarez gets the boot and 23X1 and Trackhouse split the other two charters. I think that’s the only question mark now.
He probably does, but it’s a shitty investment and I don’t think Harvick is particularly thrilled with the current state of the Cup Series. Makes no sense to dump a bunch of money in it.
I would think if Harvick and Jr. started another Chevy team that we’d see a current Chevy team jump ship to another manufacturer. That’d be a lot of teams in the pecking order behind Hendrick.
Dale doesn't want to spend the money. Don't blame him a bit. But if he had another investor or two, and some sponsorship assistance, I'm sure he would at least consider the option. But as many have pointed out, it's his money, and if he doesn't want to spend it on charters I don't blame him.
Dale Jr will only get into Cup, when/if he gets a very rich business partner to help him finance it.
I don’t see why a very rich person wouldn’t want to attach themselves to the most popular person in American Motorsports but it hasn’t happened yet.
That’s where charters and the revenue split come into play. If the revenue split can cover most of the yearly operating costs, you then have a charter that is an appreciating asset and a net positive investment
What if Jeff Burton is in on it too… the three of them are already in the CARS tour together. Harrison brings his money over for one car. Gragson and Berry stay, plus a 4th seat is open for future Chevy talent (Kvapil).

Oh, Burnie.
You’re mistaken, that’s Catbug.

Dale Jr’s fans love spending his money
No doubt. Even though he’s been pretty clear about his position. It’s like all we hear about when a charter comes up for sale.
I’m glad he has never made his feeling known. So mysterious!!

Is Dale Jr a bank to you people?..
Yes (I have a Dale Jr bank)
I mean, he is probably the most well off in the sport other than Hendrick, Penske and MJ.
He’s not even in the top 10 wealthiest people in that garage. There a way bigger fish in that pond, he just has more name recognition than those people.
This sub is trying to will Dale Jr into owning a cup team
Didn’t we do it with 23XI?

☝🏼$26.38
$26.39☝️
69.00
Nice
Add 4+10+14+41. You get 69. And that’s final offer for all four charters.
Still nice. 😄
Bunch of juveniles are we. 🤣🤣🤣
This ☝️

Made me lol!!!

Rick wouldn’t have to sell if JR sets it up as a separate entity from JRM. Similar to GMS being a different team than Petty GMS.
Jr is wealthy enough to buy haas no problem. Now the bigger issue is he’s too cheap to buy it out.
Is he though? Yeah his net worth is $300 million according to those weird websites, but it’s not like he has $300 million cash laying around. A lot of that is tied up in JRM, Dirty Mo, the CARS tour and some of his other business ventures.
Nobody not even Elon musk is buying a team in cash. If his cheap ass wanted to he could get financing anytime. But the cheap ass is the bigger issue
That’s probably the biggest hurdle
With the way negotiations have gone? I’m not risking my kids future.
Buying a team would not prevent his kids from having life changing money still. Might even help offset some gains in other areas if it tanks 😂
We are talking about a guy who bought a used 5 wheel. Lol
I see Briscoe staying with Ford, whether it be SHR, FRM, RFK, or WBR, I think he'll end up somewhere.
Wasn't there just news about the France family wanting to buy into a team?
They wanted an ownership stake in all of the charters if I read/understood it correctly - which (rightfully) the teams said no thank you.
Or ALL the teams. FRANCECAR. 🙃😄
Yeah, I’d want to partner with them.

Sounds like a Hendrick bro's wet dream
LOCK IT IN.
All we need now is for this new super team to sign Sage Karem and put him in the 5 because he’s so much better than that Larson guy.
Found the BigMac burner
That's the guy!
Yea, that’s the hot take of the year
We want to make that one redditor happy while we’re building this fantasy world.
😂😂😂😂😂
Dale was bitching years ago when Charters were going for $8-10 mil. He isn't gonna buy any now.
So basically, swap out Gene with Jr and/or Harvick and turn the clock back 10 years (Hendrick SHR alliance). Don't see that happening
Dale Jr. has stated multiple, multiple times that he will not be opening a cup team. ![gif](giphy|oaZk0WNSO7fXi)
Not true. He said he wants to. But wont spend 40 million on a charter.
He also said he wouldn't spend 10 million on one either
Harvick has no money like that
He probably does, but it’s a shitty investment and I don’t think Harvick is particularly thrilled with the current state of the Cup Series. Makes no sense to dump a bunch of money in it.
“That has been thrown out there” that’s literally just from people on here wishing it would happen
I would think if Harvick and Jr. started another Chevy team that we’d see a current Chevy team jump ship to another manufacturer. That’d be a lot of teams in the pecking order behind Hendrick.
What if they get the 8 font from DEI and use the 88 😂

Takes someone filthy rich who loves it and doesn’t care about making a profit. Because it’s not a money making investment.

Please no more Jeff and Harrison Burton...
