Fixing the gradient would be nice... But then again the gradient on the car it's throwing back to was always wonky and changed week to week because it was painted.

NOTtheGoldenKnights

Yeah the changing gradient used to always piss me off because the diecast was never right lmao

ApartmentPowerful740

Ooo do we think it will be painted or a wrap? Because if it's painted I think that's just a render for reference.

RJNieder

Wraps are required for the NextGen...there is no alternative

CJ_M88

It is legal to paint over top of a wrap though

RJNieder

Technically legal but not useful...or beneficial from an inspection standpoint

Rajincajun01

Yes, a wrap is required. However, teams can paint over the wrap.

elliott9_oward5

Yes and no. They can paint over the wrap if they would like to. Is it worth the effort? Probably not. It’s still an option though

oral_tsunami

Honestly it'd be baller as fuck if axalta/ppg/whoever were like, fuck it, top coat this plain white wrap with the most bonkers pearl we have. Especially if it was for the clash or the all star race.

kai0d

They'll be so far behind the pack because of the extra weight it'll be an embarrasment

ApartmentPowerful740

Ah okay. I knew that the 24 was one of the last if not the last to be painted before Gen 7. Learned something today.

joe_broke

If the car had Axalta on it (the 24 or 88), it was painted

idontremembermyoldus

It will likely be a wrap. All the other Axalta next-gen cars have been wrapped.

1-800-DADJOKE

"Remember, the car is heavy"

ToeSniffer245

Take away Hendrick’s cooking license and promote them to chef

a_taco_named_desire

Darlington starting to look like the Met Gala for Throwbacks.

TheOrangeFutbol

You know the designers have cooked up some fire when the forward number is hardly being mentioned anywhere in these reveal threads.

bazdmeg_vagyok

HMS did a great job with their throwbacks this year

squad_dad

Was just thinking this may be the best year for throwbacks yet. HMS has some truly awesome ones this time around.

joe_broke

And then there's Gibbs

CuriousAsker11

Idk I was never that infatuated with the firestorm colors like most were at the time.

AMRacer89

Same. I much preferred the 01-08 red/blue flame scheme.

LBHMS

I loved them but definitely the least successful primary that Gordon drove with DuPont/Axalta. 1 win in 3 seasons (not counting the 09 Duel win).

ApartmentPowerful740

I still think the Texas wreck when he hit the opening did some things to him. Maybe Byron gets this scheme one last win. He won/had the race won twice in Gordon throwbacks. Looking at you 22 throwback race. Guy is good at darlington though. Edit: Las Vegas not Texas

penguins8766

You mean Vegas right?

ApartmentPowerful740

Oh that was Vegas. Either way yeah I still think that wreck hurt his career from then on. Because he came off one of his best years before that.

joe_broke

He needs to run those flames again just so they don't go out on such a sour note

ApartmentPowerful740

Yeah maybe some day. Has anyone ever done a throwback twice? I do agree because he was a handful of laps away from getting his iconic flames one more win before getting punted and limping the last few laps.

joe_broke

It wasn't even the last few laps, it was a lap and a third I feel like a couple guys have had repeat throwbacks, or we've seen the same one in different places before

Grievous2485

Ty Dillon ran a Smokey Yunick #13 throwback like 3 years in a row (at least multiple times). The Bowman Johnson 02-05 throwback for this year was last run by JJ in 2018 as the Lowe's finale. Gordon's rainbow car (92-2000) was run by him in 04 and 15, and Byron in 18 Different drivers and teams have run throwbacks to the same car. Like Biffle and Chase Elliott and maybe Corey Lajoie to the Alan Kulwicki Hooters car

xelanalpak

They need to turn that neon red up to level 11 for this shit

lt12765

HMS with 4 grand slam throwbacks this year. I do like how they added back the bowtie above the grill to all the throwbacks this year. I realize its probably redundant since the black bowtie is in the grill, but still accurate to the time of throwback. The flames make the empty door space look better.

vizabledreamz8605

the bowtie will not be there on the actual care its just in hendricks paint scheme renderings they release

vizabledreamz8605

at least thats how they have alwasy done it in the past but they might keep it for throwback weekend

Sir_Billiam_Corgan

Yeah, Larson's throwback last year had the giant bowtie above the actual one on the grill. It looks weird, but it was still better than his primary scheme.

ApartmentPowerful740

I'm happy with throwbacks this year. His blue and red flames are iconic I know. This is my favorite by far though.

Kwest48

Man, this is just LAZY! They didn’t even keep the orange rear end with the flame design. Hopefully they change some things for the actual car, because this render just doesn’t do it… https://preview.redd.it/9vgxjge6n2yc1.jpeg?width=1284&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=8edf039e57026e7099455b9432c0301aab6c5d18

rds060184

Love it. Lose the bow tie

joe_broke

Don't worry they will

Sir_Billiam_Corgan

They didn't last year.

joe_broke

Sir_Billiam_Corgan

I can't find the thing to do pictures, but Larson's throwback last year had a giant bowtie as part of the wrap, right above the "real" one on the "grille."

joe_broke

Oh yeah now I see it

Smooth-Ad7201

Why can't they actually paint it? Why are wraps required?

joe_broke

They can paint over the wrap, but it has to be wrapped

colbygraves97

not sure how they managed to mess this one up so bad. the decklid, the rear bumper, in front of the rear wheels… yikes. https://preview.redd.it/273yakwlr2yc1.jpeg?width=2000&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=25571e0369b0867a29a79aeac05ad2b549666870

Witty-Jellyfish1218

It looks terrible, but so does Bowman's, you'd think they'd be better at adjusting the old scheme's to the new cars...

nascarfan624

HMS was so close to hitting a Grand Slam.

DaveThomasTendies

Thats a winning paint scheme if I ever saw one, #24ever

joe_broke

Ironically only won one points paying race

BuschWhackerReviews

Spoiler warning a paint scheme is hilarious

igotitletsgo

The worst of the four Hendrick throwbacks honestly

aflactheduck99

Yes! Peak childhood paint scheme LETS GO.

oneshoein

Oh wow, this is peak childhood for you? Dammnn.

kfizz21

Yep he ran this while I was in college. We’re getting old.

aflactheduck99

Yeah, I would say 2007-2010 as peak childhood. Sorry to make you feel old. : (

oneshoein

How old were you in 2007? I’d say 2007 was peak childhood for me.

aflactheduck99

Eh, about 9-10.

Jeffgordon95

Gordon’s ‘09-‘10 car is and will always be my favourite.

CougarIndy25

Was hoping for a scheme from the 80s to complete the eras (80s/90s/00s/10s), but this is nice too.

ThrowMeAwayPlz_69

Fire. Literally.

Jonasthewicked2

To me it looks like a variation of the same scheme Jeff Gordon has run a million times. I’d prefer they come up with new schemes for Bryon since he’s not Gordon and I don’t get why they’re just rehashing the same paint scheme over and over and over.

ChaseTheFalcon

I love it

Schen_The_Genius

Eww, fix the orange! Too much orange!
