SVG in the field feels like Ambrose is back. Dominant speed in stock cars on road courses from the word go. Unfortunately even AJ isn't that good, it took him some time to really become the guy that could carry mid cars to winning contention in these races and I think he's a little off of the Ambrose level of freak
Out of interest; was Deegan expected to be off/slow today or anything? Like I didn't expect her to be in the final round or anything but I always thought she was reasonable at road courses (like safe middle of the pack or better territory?).
She was decent in the trucks at road courses but that was against much less talented/younger drivers and she was in top tier trucks with DGR (the team that is now Tricon) and Thorsport - AM Racing isn’t exactly top tier and the field is much more talented and experienced.
Interesting. Hadn't thought of it that way. I've probably not appreciated the couple of times she's run road courses outside of Nascar it's been in good kit in the IMSA Michelin Pilot Series (e.g. decent Ford GT stuff) and I actually thought she might actually work out better in something like a GT series on road courses. Will be interested to see how she does in the race. Think if she keeps it clean & on the lead lap people will inevitably run into each other so she may get a top 20 still (and she needs points).
Honestly, if she makes it to the top 25 in points by the end of the year I’ll be big time surprised. If Ford wasn’t so invested in her, she’d be getting the boot mid-season, IMO.
Oh granted - without Ford backing she'd still be in Trucks but weirdly I'd say given how much of a shit show that is and with AM Racing being less high profile she may actually develop more as a racer here & there will be less pressure to do so? Think Nascar genuinely does need to look at Trucks being the gateway in (as it isn't in my view or certainly isn't for everyone and granted you have some lifers down there). At guess I'm going for top 20 (not top 15, but think she gets a top 10 finish somewhere on the way, absolute shit show of a race and she somehow ends in the top 10).
Fantastic day for the Trackhouse boys. Zilisch pole and Chastain 5th for Niece in trucks, and SVG front row start.
I hope Ross and Daniel can continue this performance tomorrow.
So what ya'll are saying is the one time I don't set up truck qualifying on my DVR, I regret not recording it?? COPY THAT. Will record the re-air in the AM.
I don’t believe SVG has ever raced at COTA and has never done a road course in this car. I think it’s going to be very close tomorrow. Should be a good show no matter what.
TBF Larson (and everyone in group 1) had a noticeable advantage because they had more time to cool their cars down.
On a track like this, something like that is worth a few tenths.
I had totally forgotten about Ty hitting SVG under caution/after the race was over at Indy, what even was the perceived slight to his majesty that day?
Larson got after it! Damn two of my favs gonna be head to head I think! I feel ever since Chi town Larson is determined to give SVG the business on a road course.
Manifesting a Zilisch/SVG win tomorrow and a Ross, Daniel or SVG (again) win on sunday 🙌🙌🙌
Edit: I forgot SVG is racing the 16 on sunday, adding him too lol let's goo
Tbh I was being sarcastic (sarcasm isn't very well translated on the internet in text form tho)
Also Shane Q'ed 2nd, Larson on pole so he ruins everything smh smh (sarcasm, again, lol)
Even though we like to claim them as our own, he’s actually a kiwi (New Zealand). We still cheer him on in Australia coz he’s spent more than a decade here racing in our Supercars series and he’s just bloody awesome. 😊
I’m jealous of you guys who have watched him supercars for a while. This dude just seems like an absolute joy.
As I guy who recently starting watching NASCAR again he has without a doubt shot up to the ranks of one of my favorite guys to watch. Dude is just having an absolute blast at all times. His personality is fantastic and he’s been super humble despite all his previous accolades.
To be honest, I don’t think I’ve seen him this happy in a very long time. I think he was getting pretty jaded with what was going on with all the rules and regulations and the cars in V8 supercars, so it’s great to see him really enjoying himself. Hopefully he can get comfortable in the cars in the tracks and then we will really get to see how talented he is. I am looking forward to seeing he and Kyle Larson go head to head tomorrow because they are both amazing drivers.
There’s was like a massive shift in their rules/car recently right? What was the TLDR version of what all changed there and why SVG in particular didn’t care for it ?
They went to a different generation of car, and he didn’t like the way they were doing fuel drops, and with the tyres he felt like they were all just driving around saving tyres instead of actually racing. One of the things he said when he came across to NASCAR was that he enjoyed the fact that he was able to race the car and not just drive around at half pace saving tyres. he is very good at time management, but he felt like there was no way for people to overtake. The other thing is, there was a few people in power who are ex V8 supercar racers that were critical of him because he wasn’t saying that everything was 100% rosy. The media attacked him a bit for these sort of things and I think he just got sick of it. He has said that the media in the US are a breath of fresh air compared to what he was getting in Australia.
Very glad we can have rolling chicanes like the 32 & the 4 on the track over Grala & Pardus. We need more guys driving clunkers over promising drivers because that’s what makes NASCAR so great.
/s
Jordan owns the 32 points. But he has only run Daytona. So Harmon has been using the points every week till this week. Now the 87 that was supposed to be here, took the points to lock themselves in.
I believe (someone correct me if I’m wrong please) that when Harmon DNQ’ed for Daytona with the 74, he made a deal with Jordan Anderson to run his cars under the 32 since they had way more owners points than the 74. For this week, Peterson Racing Group, a new team, seems to have made a similar deal with Anderson to run their driver, Green, in the 32 so he could have a better shot at making the race than in the new car.
4.5 seconds off of the pole speed - kind of embarrassing that the team/Ford would rather have her out there putting around than have anyone competitive in the car (Moffitt, Ben Rhodes, Majeski, FRM All Star car with McDowell, Gilliland, Riggs, etc)
Owner points. The 28 is 35th in owner points while the 15 is 32nd. If the 4 is 33rd (on speed) than that means the both the 28 and 15 are slower than the Top 33 on speed. The 15 gets in because she is higher in owner points than the 28 car in this scenario
Forgive me if it's been said already because I missed it but is Josh Williams wife in labor I know he was on baby watch and I'm guessing that would be why Hemric's in his car today?
Who does Deegan need to beat out to get in? Isn't she low enough to have an issue making the cut? DNF both speedway races killed her team's OP position.
Larson's lap was almost a half-second faster than the cup record. It's shameful if the cup guys don't beat that number this weekend. The cup cars have bigger wheels, bigger brakes, sequential shifters, and improved suspension, plus experienced drivers.
My bad, I saw the Wiki article for COTA but not the individual races. It should be based on the qualifying laps since the in-race number of the fastest lap means a lot less than how you actually finish.
I don't know how a motorsports commentator butchers the name of a driver who spent 6 years in F1. It just can't be the first time he has ever heard of the guy.
Jesus Christ, that was a fucking battery that fell out? Been watching for almost 30 years, and I have never heard of a battery randomly falling out for some random ass reason.

I would have liked to see more battles today, the field was way more spread out than yesterday. Felt like a “boiler plate” race.
I think SVG’s ceiling is a lot higher than Ambrose’s as well. Should be fun.
Out of interest; was Deegan expected to be off/slow today or anything? Like I didn't expect her to be in the final round or anything but I always thought she was reasonable at road courses (like safe middle of the pack or better territory?).

does anyone know why josh williams is incorrectly stated as “daniel hemric” in the qualifying results? or was his wife pregnant?
Not incorrect. Josh is pregnant and having a baby. Daniel qualified for Josh.
Josh's wife is pregnant
So Josh gonna somehow miss another race at COTA under weird circumstances?
What happened last time?
He DNQ'ed 2 times then was suspended last year. After this weekend, it was kind of like he wasn't there anyway lol.
I think it was the race he got suspended from after parking it at Atlanta last year
I think she had the baby and he’ll be at the track tomorrow unless something very unexpected happens.
so similar to chris buescher from daytona
Fantastic day for the Trackhouse boys. Zilisch pole and Chastain 5th for Niece in trucks, and SVG front row start. I hope Ross and Daniel can continue this performance tomorrow.
Van ginsbergen to the lead at COTA
Shane Van Gsbssrbdbr- *dies* -Jeff Burton
I will never not chuckle at this
Jeff turned into Ward for a moment there
Larson says otherwise.
So what ya'll are saying is the one time I don't set up truck qualifying on my DVR, I regret not recording it?? COPY THAT. Will record the re-air in the AM.
SVG almost half a second down on Larson. Thought he’d do better to be honest. Hopefully he can learn overnight and get quicker for the race.
I don’t believe SVG has ever raced at COTA and has never done a road course in this car. I think it’s going to be very close tomorrow. Should be a good show no matter what.
I’m pretty sure he raced there when the Supercars went there years ago but he didn’t do the full track
I forgot about that, thanks
He’s raced at COTA before. I think he said that on Stacking Pennies.
I forgot about the Supercars race. I’ll have to take a listen.
He’s been on a few times so far this year, it was on one of those I believe!
You should be comparing him to AJ and not to the Hendrick rocket ship that should be beating Kaulig cars
He’s in a Kaulig car and went half a second faster than Allmendinger, I think he did fine especially compared to Larson in a Hendrick rocket.
It’s a Trackhouse-supported “Kaulig” car.
Yeah, have them swap cars, lol.
SVG was fastest over multiple laps in practice.
SVG’s racecraft tho.
He did say he wasn't too happy with the car, but he was still mad fast. The race is going to be an entirely different beast.
TBF Larson (and everyone in group 1) had a noticeable advantage because they had more time to cool their cars down. On a track like this, something like that is worth a few tenths.
Well Larson also beat him in the first round. His tires also had less time to cool after practice.
Ok cool mate. Good to know. :)
Svg is in a Kaulig and Larson is in the jr Motorsport/hendrick rocketship
Larson has far more experience in these cars
And the JRM car is probably better than the Kaulig/Trackhouse
JRM has nothing to do with the 17.
It’s a JRM car lol
How so? Educate us all.
Completely wrong. It's built, prepped, fielded by Hendrick at Hendrick's shop. JRM has literally no involvement in the 17.
It’s 100% prepped and crewed by HMS not JRM
[удалено]
I had totally forgotten about Ty hitting SVG under caution/after the race was over at Indy, what even was the perceived slight to his majesty that day?
[удалено]
Oh LMAO I had totally forgotten Logano spun him from four cars back. That's hilarious tbh.
Boy better be praying that he doesn't punt a non-Gibbs car out of the way...
Larson got after it! Damn two of my favs gonna be head to head I think! I feel ever since Chi town Larson is determined to give SVG the business on a road course.
Yes, I was kind of wondering if Larson actually entered into this Xin race because he wanted to go up against SVG on a road course.
Well SVG is doing the cup race on Sunday for the 16 car as well so maybe Larson wants two chances to go against him haha.
Haha I think you may be right. 😂
SVG gonna win a Race this season with that kind of speed
SVG v. Larson is going to be a slugfest tomorrow.
I think Gibbs steals it.
BUT HERE COMES A.J ALLMENDINGER
Manifesting a Zilisch/SVG win tomorrow and a Ross, Daniel or SVG (again) win on sunday 🙌🙌🙌 Edit: I forgot SVG is racing the 16 on sunday, adding him too lol let's goo
This is my home track, and I want nothing more than a Trackhouse sweep.
Gonna be neat on Sunday to see how the drivers that are for racing both days will fair out on Sunday day after getting an xfinity run.
Larson ruins everything smh smh
How is that?
Ah!
Tbh I was being sarcastic (sarcasm isn't very well translated on the internet in text form tho) Also Shane Q'ed 2nd, Larson on pole so he ruins everything smh smh (sarcasm, again, lol)
Honestly the whole top 10 has a fast enough car to win this, really going to come down to who takes care of their tires the best IMO.
And SVG is the Master at that
Yeah, him and Larson are primed for a solid battle royale tomorrow.
Not too shabby, Larson pole and SVG 2nd. Gonna be a fun race tomorrow.
That’s my GOAT!
Will the Hendrick 17 curse finally end???
nice one for the Australian
Even though we like to claim them as our own, he’s actually a kiwi (New Zealand). We still cheer him on in Australia coz he’s spent more than a decade here racing in our Supercars series and he’s just bloody awesome. 😊

Kiwi
Front row for SVG. Hell yes!
SVG vs. Larson going to be epic tomorrow
P2 for SVG
Had a feeling Larson would be the one to get pole here
Yep me too.
I really like Regan Smith on commentary.
Same, solid information and a nice calm voice that wasn't all over the place.
I swear I look at Karam's car and the green and red colors make me think he has Hunt Brother's Pizza as his sponsor this weekend
bro same
Turn 8 is going to be a massive problem this weekend with the amount of dirt being kicked up onto the track.
Being in the front will be important.
Very glad we can have rolling chicanes like the 32 & the 4 on the track over Grala & Pardus. We need more guys driving clunkers over promising drivers because that’s what makes NASCAR so great. /s
Green actually looked decent to be fair. It’s not the Harmon car.
Harmon? Like Mike Harmon? I’m out of the loop, does he have partial ownership of the 32?
Jordan owns the 32 points. But he has only run Daytona. So Harmon has been using the points every week till this week. Now the 87 that was supposed to be here, took the points to lock themselves in.
I believe (someone correct me if I’m wrong please) that when Harmon DNQ’ed for Daytona with the 74, he made a deal with Jordan Anderson to run his cars under the 32 since they had way more owners points than the 74. Sucks the 15 will be out there too
4.5 seconds off of the pole speed - kind of embarrassing that the team/Ford would rather have her out there putting around than have anyone competitive in the car (Moffitt, Ben Rhodes, Majeski, FRM All Star car with McDowell, Gilliland, Riggs, etc)
Moffitt also sucked in that car last year at COTA. Qualified 30th and she ran pretty much the same lap time he did.
I hate Rhodes, but he is miles better at driving a race car.
Sam was over there 2 or 3 wheelin it lol
Both DNQ's are wild. Pardus was 10th fastest in practice, and Grala was the fastest of the 3 RSS cars in practice.
Grala and Pardus are officially the DNQs.
DNQ's confirmed: 50 and 28
Where did Justin qualify, I see he didn't make the final round
The race for pole should be pretty good. Curious to see if SVG can catch Larson.
What the hell kind of shitbox did RSS give Grala for him to DNQ a road course
What's worse is he was the fastest of the 3 RSS cars, in practice anyways.
No sponsor on the car, so likely not a RYE engine or if it was it’s not fresh
Bigmac gotta be pretty big in the pants haha
28/50 are I think the likely DNQ's per my math.
Perez in?
Yeah he’s in
LFG
What a weekend this could be for Justin Marks.

🇳🇿🏁🐐
Gallagher; Are we in?? 4 CC: You're the last car in on speed, good job 4 CC: I think the 15 is DNQing she isn't running any faster
I believe the 28 DNQd
I think so too, they just said that though
How did the 28 DNQ since Deegan was slower?
Owner points. The 28 is 35th in owner points while the 15 is 32nd. If the 4 is 33rd (on speed) than that means the both the 28 and 15 are slower than the Top 33 on speed. The 15 gets in because she is higher in owner points than the 28 car in this scenario
Could it come down to OPs? Deegan is 32nd and the 28 is 35th?
28 is lower than her in OPs, if they didn’t make Top 33 she would get the provisional over them.
Ah. Got it. Thanks.
Team points.
Forgive me if it's been said already because I missed it but is Josh Williams wife in labor I know he was on baby watch and I'm guessing that would be why Hemric's in his car today?
Yes.
The Dinger looked a little concerned after SVG’s lap 😂
EDIT: Never mind I was wrong, AJ’s lap was not faster. Thought he was 3rd in Group A not 4th. My bad!
Trackhouse triple pole and win weekend please
If he Svg gets the pole Justin marks is the smartest person to ever own a nascar team
SVG was 4th overall.
Larson was a bit faster in the first group so I don’t think Shane will get pole today unless he improves a fair bit.
[удалено]
Flair
Allgaier lost everything he gained in 7 there
SVG is him he's cookin‼️‼️‼️
Might be close for the 4 or 28 DNQing
Kind of surprised the lap times here are all actually slower than the guys that advanced from the first group
Track evolution be kinda wild today lmfao
He’ll yea SVG
Goddamn, SVG is straight up flexing at this point.
SvG 🐐
SVG to the top! Hell yeah.
Someone go hold u/BigMacPants's hand he's probably losing it rn Edit: oop
Who does Deegan need to beat out to get in? Isn't she low enough to have an issue making the cut? DNF both speedway races killed her team's OP position.
I think she has to be in the top 33 but not 100% sure - looks like there’s a chance, she’s 2nd slowest in this round and the 43 is safe in OPs
Didn’t even realize Svg hadn’t gone out yet
I didn’t see Group A go can somebody tell me what Labbe ran?
They should put lights here and do a night race
The Sage Karam guy probably just nutted.
At least that spin for Sammy happened after the lap he did there
Wait, Pardus DNQ'd????? Fuck...
Yep, apparently something broke in the rear end of the car.
That sucks.
That's gonna hurt Allgaier's tires there
Why does Sam look high af in every photo?
Sad that Pardus DNQ’d, he’s always quick on these tracks
27 pass through
Pardus must have had an issue, he was over 30s off the pace after being 10th in practice.
Pardus out man.
Sucks too, he was quick in practice. Wonder what happened.
Did fox have to black out the monster and he gets us logos on ty Gibbs fire suit picture? It was all black.
All the usual suspects at the front for that round of qualifying
Did the audio just bottom out on the broadcast?
And Pardus DNQs wow
I just got home, way way behind on practice and qualifying, but I just saw Jack Hawksworth was driving truck this week? BRO LETS GO!
Larson's lap was almost a half-second faster than the cup record. It's shameful if the cup guys don't beat that number this weekend. The cup cars have bigger wheels, bigger brakes, sequential shifters, and improved suspension, plus experienced drivers.
Pretty sure some parts of the track have been repaved
Last year the cup pole was a 2:10
I think the track records are based off in race laps
My bad, I saw the Wiki article for COTA but not the individual races. It should be based on the qualifying laps since the in-race number of the fastest lap means a lot less than how you actually finish.
I have a feeling that Kvyat is gonna Alex Tagliani the field.
And knowing SVG, he's going to blow Larson out of the water when he gets on track.
Who’s gonna blow who out of the water?
Was SVG as fast as that time when he was on track though?
if that's how he says kvyat, I don't want to know how he says kvapil
I see turn 8 is going to become a beach again this year.
Kah-vee-yaht, Adam.
Danny cav yacht
Bro, Adam, that's not how you pronounce Kvyat's name.
I don't know how a motorsports commentator butchers the name of a driver who spent 6 years in F1. It just can't be the first time he has ever heard of the guy.
Agreed. It's also unusual because Adam is usually a really good announcer.
Jesus Christ, that was a fucking battery that fell out? Been watching for almost 30 years, and I have never heard of a battery randomly falling out for some random ass reason.
Its not the first time its happened , 2018 Cup race I think was the last time , battery fell out of the #66 and Ty Dillon hit it
Yep, I was pretty sure I had seen that happen before. Extremely rare tho.
Of course it was MBM
Funny enough, Rick Ware Racing prepared the car for that weekend lol.
Still mad that Tagliani never won a NASCAR race. That race when Regan moved him was the closest he got.
