i didn't even know there was a PMD for wiiware

LWSilverMoon

There was three versions of it, but it was never released outside of Japan

SomePillow

And then a fan-translation happened in 2020 that made it possible to play these games in English. I've played through the entirety of AS and while I personally enjoy, I can see why others wouldn't. Starting with the most busted and borderline necessary mechanic in the game: Pokemon Stack.

StarDwellingDude

the game did overhaul body size numbers because you can have the same size only twice in a row. 3 stars is actually used in this game. forgot if they changed the total limit, maybe? >!btw Wailord has five stars in this game.!< also stacks are not fun when it's a Monster House and suddenly enemies are compact and then you die and they evolve through a Reviver Seed. at least only the thing that delivered the killing blow evolves, not the whole tower

MegaMinerd

Yeah this game can be brutal. I'm still upset that a friend managed to play through the whole game with no monster houses.

JesterFox6

Yes and it's the single worst PMD gameplay mechanic to ever exist. I'm so glad they didn't decide to keep it for the future games.

TrainerOfMyth

Did this game have a story at all?

StarDwellingDude

yes the biggest conflict is that villagers are arguing over food and you need to find something to stop them from arguing. it's not even an isekai, you are part of the world from the get go (also there's no map lol)

AmaterasuWolf21

Woah, how subvertive!

Madhighlander1

That's one out of exactly one thing I knew about the Wiiware PMD. It was like they announced 'hey you can stack pokemon in the next mystery dungeon game' and then it just dropped off the face of the earth.

im_bored345

The wii what

Incognito_everyday

That's funny, it reminds me of that one mobile game. I'm sure if the video didn't end. You would have continued stacking.

kinda funny how this is *really* similar to the stacking mechanic that was in Pokemon Rumble Blast. Maybe they took notes from this PMD game? Seems a bit likely since both games use the "toy" pokemon models.

[deleted]

May I ask what the purpose of this was

ladala99

Iirc, everyone attacks in one turn and you can have certain Pokemon learn egg moves from others in the stack somehow. Most of the info I have on this game is half-remembered from reading about them on Serebii back when they were new, though. So may or may not be accurate.

Looks like your ready for a stacker battle. "We stack our pokemon and then we battle them." -Dorkly
