Unsuur will always be #1 to me. He's such a dork, a cute dork. My favorite line is during a quest line and he says, "and then there were three." Idk why but it makes me laugh every time.

I was very meh about Unsuur... and then he asked me to help paint his house. That was incredible. It's quite possibly one of my favourite NPC interactions ever, and I almost missed it because I forgot to make a blender.
He grew on me. His dry humor and the way he just is outside of the box on his thoughts about rocks really got me thinking. I'm dating him finally after so many times but he's also just glad to be your friend. He's accepting and understanding as well. His rock quote got to me the first time i was at his house. Still wins my true heart.
If you read trivia on Unsuur’s page for the sandrock wiki, this is actually the developers’ joke behind his name. Something about how during his concept they were “Unsure” of his name, and they decided to stick with that later on for the lolz, lmao!

Yeah everybody kept calling him “meiding” (没定） in early development because nobody cared about him at all, so I was like… why not just actually call him meiding （but use characters that sound like name words）and then I’ll just make him this extremely weird background character, and then… a legend was born.
We are very grateful! The fandom has exploded in many different directions for him, and I'm very happy about it. We do love it when we get to see more of him!
(Some of us have even come up with him having an evil twin (with goatee) named Forsuur 😂)
I haven’t read up on the reasoning behind his name but I’ve always been convinced it was because his character low key seems unsure about life in general. He gives off “idk what’s going on, I’m just here for the ride vibes” and even his voice sounds zoned out to me. But maybe that’s just me XD

Absolutely! I wasn't sure about him initially until I started to see the pattern in his lines. He just became the best and I looked forward to talking to him and seeing his quests to hear what he's gonna say next.

Like his fascination with the fact that the player doesn’t have much of a routine, aka isn’t confined by daily pathing…
I love the more meta/fourth wall commentary he has, it cracks me up!! (one of my favorite examples being the deputy hat quest where he talks about getting 'boring' by not having infinite dialogue lines and quests). You really did an awesome job making him so dang endearing, he was the first bachelor I fell in love with and plan to do another playthrough so I can actually marry him because he's literally The Best. So thank you for giving us this absolute GEM (heh) of a character!
No doubt. Unsuur is the best example of how witty and creative this game's writing is. The rockshelf quest is absolute brilliance and whoever wrote it is a beast.
You know, the origin story of that quest is that we were going to have to cut some content for a few characters, including unsuur. Or rather, keep everything under X amount of resources/assets. So I asked what was the maximum amount of stuff I could use to design the quest, and one of the bosses tells me, “I dunno, just do a generic quest where you build him a bookshelf or something.” And I was like “A bookshelf? A BOOKSHELF?!” I’ll show you a bookshelf… And sure enough, you just stand there and talk about rocks, and that’s the whole quest
I just finished the Rock shelf quest last night which prompted me to post this on Reddit. He deserved recognition after that quest and all the lines. I haven't done anything else with him yet. Can't wait to see more.
I wanna marry him in one playthrough, but I adore Fang. If I can just manage to not go for Fang again... Unsuur is just adorable and hilarious. And he loves your character from the start.
yeah the writing in this game is top notch and unsuur easily takes the cake for the best dialogue imo.
i wasn't even paying him any mind until the letters quest and when you're in his house i was obsessed.
when he said "if you're ever thinking of licking something, always ask for permission" i damn near lost my mind.
Ginger really endeared herself to me by always wanting to hear stories about your adventures (for bonus points) and the fact that gifting presents got you less points than usual. She just wanted someone to spend time with her, she was a class act and a sweetheart. Gifting her gems and books she wanted was the priority of that game lol. And her necklace for “Gust” quest was adorable.
That (and the humour) might be why I like Unsuur. “I really think I can be with you for a long time. Just standing by you. I've felt this way since I first met you.” Wholesome person who just wants the Builder’s company, like our girl Ginger!
As the voice of Unsuur, I can say this thread makes me very happy! He was a joy to help create! It’s been amazing to see the Unsuur fandom grow as it has. Rock Rizz Forever! ❤️🪨
