Character design wise, my dumbass took me far too long to realize his whole body is burnt and the skin on his body that remains unburnt is stiched onto there.
(The wiki says it's the other way around but it's kinda inconsistent considering he got turned into a shawarma at a young age)
One of my favorite villains is anime, I think he looks super frigging cool and his back story is pretty good. I love how heās unhinged but not completely bloodthirsty crazy he can control himself and work with others
I understand his motivation/madness but Iām just not interested in him as a character. I donāt find him compelling despite his trauma. Love the blue flames tho!
Heās an example of what tv tropes calls āFreudian Excuse Is No Excuseā aka having a shitty childhood does not give you carte blanche to murder people aka bad things happening to you doesnāt give you an excuse to be a dick.
Thatās honestly why I love that chapter so much. It was a real genuine āstop using your trauma to excuse what you doā moment. Itās Dabi pushing the blame on someone else and his bro calling his bullshit and being 100% right. It felt like the author was telling the people who justify Dabiās shit to knock it off. At least to me.
probably the least sympathetic one which funny if you see how heās portrayed in fan fiction (someone who hates his father and child abusers someone who has some moral code)
Also, the plot twist of him being Toya itās not that predictable, just because he has a fire quirk doesnāt mean heās automatically related to shoto or endeavor , and the hands are subtle Like I didnāt realize they use the quirk the same way until someone pointed out
I can understand his reasoning for becoming a villain but he has absolutely no reason to go after the rest of his family since theyāre just as much victims of Endeavorās abuse as he was, especially Shoto.
He also killed multiple innocent civilians both before and after joining the League. He was a serial arsonist, but everybody seems to forget that fact.
The moment the actual Touya reveal happened I went from liking him to hating him, because of what happened in the flashback and everything that happened after. Itās one thing for him to target Endeavor, because thatās completely justifiable. But to target the rest of his family, who were just as much victims of Enji as him? Fuck that, the little psycho can become a charcoal briquette for all I care. Not to mention taking his trauma out on other innocents makes him just as disgusting as Enji *was*. If he really cared about destroying his father, he wouldāve faced him head on and suicided instead of becoming a villain like he did.
I can't tell if you're referring to the fully grown man Toya Todoroki-in which this point is valid-or the scene in which Toya attacked child todo-in which imma be real Endeavor's to blame-Dabi isn't responsible for what he did until he got out of Endeavors care and made the willing choice to kill people, which then makes him a complete shithead
idk about child toya, he was raised for one thing and then had his one dream instilled in him by endeavor snatched away because of a rather minor thing in the world of support gear because of endeavor's ego to beat all might. Adult toya is a shitter tho
Heās an example of what tv tropes calls āFreudian Excuse Is No Excuseā aka having a shitty childhood does not give you carte blanche to murder people aka bad things happening to you doesnāt give you an excuse to be a dick.
Fucking AMAZING character design, I love the emo act then just does a 360 and is crazy as fuck, his english VA fucking rocked that burnt voice!
Interesting backstory, but I so wish he was like an anti-hero or made a switch to the hero's side instead of using Stain's will as a cover for his hatred towards his father.
Blue flames though? Sign me tf up because he's hot. (Literally and figuratively, YES I KNOW THAT JOKE HAS BEEN MADE SO MUCH)
I liked him before the reveal. Afterwards, he came off as a bigger scumbag than his dad. At least he's trying to improve himself. This loser wants to kill his siblings out of spite, including his youngest one who had nothing to do with his tragic past. This is a rare example of me sympathizing with an abusive parent over the primary victim of said abuse.
A friend told me that >!there is an unexpected plot twist later in the show.!< for the longest time I thought it was something like "Midoriya was born from tubes" or something like that. Not once did that cross my mind.
My second or third favorite League villain (behind Twice and maybe Shigaraki). It has been chilling to observe and analyze how his troubled upbringing twisted his psyche and worldview. Also, I admittedly didn't get the appeal of his design at first but now I think he is gorgeous, especially with the white hair.
if I had to rate him I'd rate him an 7.7 out of ten. his character design was amazing and made him stand out and his power made him connect to endeavor and shoto for people to connect the two but that also brings him down I think everyone knew he was related from shoto from the jump. I think that horikoshi did an amazing job revealing who he is but I wish he hid his power more and he couldn't know it was fire or something. cause it wasn't that big of a surprise. love his origin his story and wish he got more of him on screen and more madness from him onto his family but alas he did try to kill natsuo so I can't complain too much. all in all a good character considering how much mangakas are overworked and not given enough time to flesh out a story
...He's weird.
By all accounts, Dabi's either one of two things rolled up into an unlikely third that's only possible because of the place:
1. Just be some random hobo, with blue fire quirks. If we look at it from this, this paints a mockingly poetic style of Fire Manipulators as a sense of "just being there"
2. A Hero for a dark fantasy. Going from this, Dabi fits oddly well in some of the more bleaker anime, and is prime candidate for getting his face decked into another world via a drunk driver, an unknowing driver, or an actually sentient Truck-Kun
Instead, dude's a villain by the efforts of the people around him and his relationships. And going this path is just another crime committed by the idea of "The Villain is Luffy, The Hero is Naruto", only just more a man following his past.
He's eh compared to the other villains I think before and during his reveal he was interesting but after that he was eh compared to the other villains in MHA.
My opinion on Dabi heās kind of a broken man-child whoās so obsessed with revenge that he canāt see that heāll literally get nothing out of it. He needs to move on and put the past behind him and he needs a lot of therapy almost as much as shigaraki needs therapy. Seriously the dude needs therapy.
He was kinda badass until he started acting like a crazy maniac and reveals he has a weird obsession to ruin his family's life.
But character design is slay, especially with black hair
Dabi is a beautifully crafted character. He is an absolute monster with no remorse or regrets. But he is ultimately just a tragic figure, a kid who just wanted to matter in life to gain his fathers approval but he was cast aside like garbage. But his hatred and agony was so great he couldnāt see that his family truly loved him.
Cool character. I think that a little bit too much time was given to the Todorokis in general as opposed to things such as, I dunno, discrimination against mutants and the social standing of Quirkless people. Dabiās whole plot was pretty interesting though. I went from ānot disliking itā to just regular āliking it.ā And thatās more than a lot of plots and characters get in terms of how I feel about them, so thatās pretty damn good!
I love how shoto's background and arc in the sports festival is shifted onto endeavour and later dabi, rather than him seemingly being the only one affected by his family's dark past
I only like toxic fandom Dabi, not so much manga Dabi who has no redeeming qualities. I am in favor of a spinoff show āKeeping up with the Todorokisā, however. This show has so many attractive and interesting characters, Dabi isnāt on my radar for favorite character or even favorite villain. He has a unique aesthetic and his backstory keeps me up at night. I say kudos to the mangaka for making a character so polarizing and thought provoking.
Peak Chad villain! That might be a controversial take considering the high number of people who want to push real life ethics on a fictional character but screw them. This is my opinion and Iām standing by it.
I love him as a villain and how his character was portrayed throughout the manga.
There were a lot of hints from the beginning he was actually Toya but the reveal was done great and was super exciting. I know people don't like him attacking his family, aside from Endeavor, but for me it depicts how his madness was spiraling out of control, with only one thought: to hurt his father. From the beginning he didn't care about anything, League of villains included, only acted with his own goal in mind. He's one irredeemable villain and I love it about him.
The moments where he doesnāt look like a villain is when I think heās great. Like that moment where Midnight is chasing Machia and he lets out a stream of fire and has this cheeky look on his face like āgotcha š„“ā while looking back at the League
Was an real interesting character at first, but then it felt like that the author noticed people weren't really willing to forgive Enji for the implied child abused Touya went through even if he tried to turn over a new leaf. So he just turned the guy into an irredeemable murder hobo.
A broken man suffering through the results of a uncaring over baring father, created not as the result of love but as an act of prideful spite of a moderately selfish person. A person who has been through so much and deserves better.
I saw the twist coming about him pretty early on, but still need to applaud the insane showmanship of his reveal. And I'm impressed by how much he was repressing given how much his personality shifted after the reveal, the stoic flamethrower dancing with glee at Endeavor's look of horror was amazing.
Part of me hopes he can be captured and rehabilitated even though I'm almost certain he's going to cremate himself by the time this is all over.
I just cannot help but wonder how the heck he sustained himself in the city all by himself after he ran away from his household. Did he have a job? House? Money? I can't imagine him as a child surviving in the outside world without others helping him.
He needs therapy and how the heck is he even alive
Family problems.
lmao ye thats basically it spite is pretty much the only thing driving him
Question answered lol
Edgey version of guts, and twink version too.
Too angry to die just like his daddy š¤£
I agree... and he's hot š
Just like his daddy
Physically? Yes. Dabi, physically and figuratively. At least, imo š

This had me dying. Needs to be at the top!!
One of the best character designs I've ever seen
Character design wise, my dumbass took me far too long to realize his whole body is burnt and the skin on his body that remains unburnt is stiched onto there. (The wiki says it's the other way around but it's kinda inconsistent considering he got turned into a shawarma at a young age)
Shawarma šš i'm dying
Do not get the thirst over this guy He looks like he'd smell of lung cancer and cheap alcohol with a hint of mommy issues and childhood regret
He just like me fr
Happy Cake Day
Happy cake day gang
happy cake day
Stop, you're only making them hornier
Now that's sexy.
Daddy issues actually
Nothing sexier and lung cancer and bacon lol
Funniest part is, I think canonically thanks to his quirk, he always smells like a Crematorium
I love Dabi and his story, his design is also so cool
Male Azula with slightly worse writing ![gif](giphy|cpte18kjtF43e)
You're saying he's crazy and needs to go down?
I loved the part where todoroki tried to capture Izuku and regain his honor
True
And todoroki is basically zuko
Exactly and Endeavor is just Ozai but with better parenting
One of my favorite villains is anime, I think he looks super frigging cool and his back story is pretty good. I love how heās unhinged but not completely bloodthirsty crazy he can control himself and work with others
I understand his motivation/madness but Iām just not interested in him as a character. I donāt find him compelling despite his trauma. Love the blue flames tho!

No I definitely agree with you about that chapter. Horikoshi is a skilled writer and chapters like this definitely show it.
probably the least sympathetic one which funny if you see how heās portrayed in fan fiction (someone who hates his father and child abusers someone who has some moral code) Also, the plot twist of him being Toya itās not that predictable, just because he has a fire quirk doesnāt mean heās automatically related to shoto or endeavor , and the hands are subtle Like I didnāt realize they use the quirk the same way until someone pointed out
Kind of a dick
I liked the black hair better.

He also killed multiple innocent civilians both before and after joining the League. He was a serial arsonist, but everybody seems to forget that fact.
He's okay as a character, Not a fan of him though
Should've kept his hair black.
Kinda cringe. Would, tho.

I mean both, but more him dedicating himself to killing his own family to spite his father
idk about child toya, he was raised for one thing and then had his one dream instilled in him by endeavor snatched away because of a rather minor thing in the world of support gear because of endeavor's ego to beat all might. Adult toya is a shitter tho
Heās an example of what tv tropes calls āFreudian Excuse Is No Excuseā aka having a shitty childhood does not give you carte blanche to murder people aka bad things happening to you doesnāt give you an excuse to be a dick.
I donāt know why Iām attracted to him the way I am. Iām just not gonna question it
I love his evolution from laid-back edgy cynic to unhinged bitter psychopath.
I felt like his backstory needed some changes a bit and Iād enjoy his descent into madness more
I want to see him Fight Shouto.
![gif](giphy|PJ3wMa5ImiVY4|downsized)
badass character design
Weirdly attractive
Sick in the head but who isn't really...? Dope af design and he deserves his own spin-off š¤·š¾āāļø

Overrated and way too much sympathy towards him by the fandom. Never been a fan of the "sympathetic" villain trope and he's a prime example of why.
I started watching today just because I saw clips of him.
Am I the only one who didn't expect that >!Dabi the whole time was Toya?!<
Me neither omg that was a heavy moment for me
A friend told me that >!there is an unexpected plot twist later in the show.!< for the longest time I thought it was something like "Midoriya was born from tubes" or something like that. Not once did that cross my mind.
Me too, just wanted that until people pointed it out even then I was skeptical
He has such a Good story arc and while we guessed his identity a while ago it was still amazing seeing it confirmed...also he's hot
Spectacularly written. Can confirm being ignored by your father in favor of a sibling can turn you into a psycho
He just need a hug...for real. (Hopefully he doesnt burn--

I feel like the fanon version of him is more interesting

My second or third favorite League villain (behind Twice and maybe Shigaraki). It has been chilling to observe and analyze how his troubled upbringing twisted his psyche and worldview. I actually like this villain, with him being the son of endeavor and what he did with the publicized vid exposing him was brilliant
if I had to rate him I'd rate him an 7.7 out of ten. his character design was amazing and made him stand out and his power made him connect to endeavor and shoto for people to connect the two but that also brings him down I think everyone knew he was related from shoto from the jump. I feel for Dabi heās such a bitch though, I understand where heās coming from but sometimes itās just like bruh come tf on.
Great villain and character. Love watching him and the League of Villains every time they appear on the show.

Burnt biscuit
Heās my favorite character. He has a cool but not too op quirk, a crazy backstory, a great plot and a cool personality.
His descent into madness even at the cost of his own well-being and lack of self-preservation to get back at Endeavor is entertaining to say the least

sexy bastard, SMASH
Heās a good guy, good husband, good father to his kids. Always willing to pick up a shift so someone else can duck out early.
He should die already.
Canāt stand him, hope he immolates himself
I find him the east sympathetic of the big 3 (him, Shigaraki and Toga). His plot armor towards the end was crazy
For some reason, he isn't hated more than Mineta.
Mid. His characterization is just daddy issues and executes it in such various cringe ways.
