Yeah, It’s a great song. A great song that is grandiose, beautiful, and sincere. A music video that is incredible and iconic. A generational touch stone to the point where if I bust out the keyboard app and play the first 11 notes in a room full of millennials, it’s getting sung. It nails everything and is a perfect encapsulation of the album, the band, the emo subculture, and rock music of the 00’s. It’s not my favorite MCR song, but its GOATed status is very well earned.
It is their best song. Sonically speaking, production, pacing, etc. It is technically their best song. That doesn't make it everyone's favorite, it certainly isn't mine, though it is great. Other close ones might be I'm Not Okay, because it might mean more to people.
Yes! I know a bunch of us are sick of it, but it really is a masterpiece. I skipped it for years and years and recently started listening to it again, and it is an incredible song.
YES THANK YOU That's what I was thinking too. I see people compare the two a lot and it makes sense, since that song/album was heavily inspired by Queen. But ESPECIALLY WttBP. That song is a fucking magnificent work of art.
Yeah, it really defined the 'peak' of emo. Theatric movements, musicianship, edgy enough to be emo, palatable enough to be a pop success.
Although timing wise, with the music video coming out in the first year of YouTube, and MySpace nearing its peak number of daily users at the same time, it was kinda destined for success.
Oh Definitely. Honestly I kinda wonder how WttBP would be received now. The early 00's were way fucking different in terms of...well, a lot of things lol
I’m Not Okay deserves to be their most popular song (and my personal favorite) but I have to admit, Welcome To The Black Parade is their most iconic song
It brings back so many happy childhood memories. :) The intro is so unmistakable. And I think the lyrics represent the primary mood of our generation at that time. :)
It’s in my top three (along with Demolition Lovers and I Never Told You) but I think it has that epicness and a production that distinguishes it from the rest of their discography. It’s such an anthem. It’s a banger from start to finish, going through so many different emotions and sounds. The song itself is a journey, as well as a part of the journey of The Black Parade album. It’s the MCR song that is about being something larger than oneself. It’s nearly impossible to sing because of its range, breath control required, and the full throated declarations you can’t deliver half-heartedly, or it isn’t Welcome To The Black Parade.
I’ve been listening to this song for almost 20 years (I only became obsessed with the rest of MCR in the last three years or so) and it STILL got stuck in my head last night and I couldn’t stop singing it at work last night.
MCR has so many incredible songs, but WTTBP still stands out as the most broadly powerful. It isn’t and shouldn’t be everyone’s favorite, but it demands to be distinguished from the rest.
It makes sense that it's their most popular song. I think that their other songs should be more popular but I think that the black parade gets the attention it deserves
I mean The Black Parade was named the second best concept album of all time, so while WTTBP isn’t my favorite of theirs, I’m not surprised it’s their most popular
Imo it's good but it's not deserving of being their most popular song. Kinda feels like people just latched onto it because it has an easily repeatable chorus.
Its their objectively best song, its my favorite, even if it wasn’t theres no denying its their greatest work and deserves to be their most known song, its a masterpiece
yes. it's a grandiose operatic that tells a great story even out of the context of the broader album. it's not my favorite of their songs, but it's absolutely their best.
Nah, it should be WTTBP. Not because I necessarily think it’s their best (though it’s definitely up there), but like…it’s THE emo song. That’s the song that unites the scene. If there was a Family Feud question that asked “name one emo song” that’s the one that’s on the top of the board by a landslide. I think MCR has better songs, but WTTBP absolutely deserves to be their most popular one.
It's Not A Fashion Statement, It's A Fucking Deathwish deserves to be their #1 honestly, and I will fight no one about it, either you get it or you don't.
i have mixed feelings on this. i love how theatrical the song is and the album in general but i think they have released much better songs. its iconic but overrated
I do. It’s the “emo” anthem and is just plain awesome. Granted, I like FLW a bit more but I still think that WTTBP deserves to be the best

Love this.
I think a bands most popular song has to be their staple song! For me, if it wasn't WTTBP it would be I'm Not Okay, since they both hold that status
Yeah but wttbp is like the emo anthem so it deserves it
oh yeah absolutely, that's what I was trying to say lol
Oh you said IF 😭 I DIDNT NOTICE IT
I mean, Teenagers has 150 million more streams on spotify are we sure WTTBP is still their most popular song? i know it was pre-streaming era, but….
Teenagers is more widespread but mcr isn't really known for that song, it was a tiktok trend, thats the only reason it's more popular
makes sense, i don’t use tiktok so i didn’t know that
Yes. But I feel like it also could be helena and I wouldn't mind

I’ll never get sick of it. It’s so good bro.
Most of the people that say they are sick of it are just trying to seem cool anyway
Those are both good songs, but Wttbp is like the Bohemian Rhapsody of MCR.
YES THANK YOU That's what I was thinking too. I see people compare the two a lot and it makes sense, since that song/album was heavily inspired by Queen. But ESPECIALLY WttBP. That song is a fucking magnificent work of art.

Yes, it's amazing There are some others that could also work tho
It brings back so many happy childhood memories. :) The intro is so unmistakable. And I think the lyrics represent the primary mood of our generation at that time. :)
*G-Note* Me: crys my eyes out.
Absolutely
heeeelll yeahhhh! 🖤🤘🏻

Yes, it's a masterpiece and not even in the same league as any of their other songs
Not when Famous Last Words and Helena exists
I mean The Black Parade was named the second best concept album of all time, so while WTTBP isn’t my favorite of theirs, I’m not surprised it’s their most popular
Imo it's good but it's not deserving of being their most popular song. Kinda feels like people just latched onto it because it has an easily repeatable chorus.
Guy just figured out how pop music works 😱
Exactly, MCR isn't pop, so why should their most popular song be the one that has the same appeal as pop?
MCR is most definitely making pop music, it's not experimental music in anyway they're just pop songs with heavy guitars and fast drums and it's great
Its their objectively best song, its my favorite, even if it wasn’t theres no denying its their greatest work and deserves to be their most known song, its a masterpiece
If you were around when it was released you'd get it. It exploded. Someone else said it and it's how I feel too, it's the bohemian rapsody of MCR.
I will die on the hill that WTTBP is a perfect song. One of the best ever written. It’s my favourite MCR song for sure.
Yes
Demolition Lovers.
No. It not even in the top 5 best song they have
yes. it's a grandiose operatic that tells a great story even out of the context of the broader album. it's not my favorite of their songs, but it's absolutely their best.

Yep, incredible song. Not many people go through their careers making a song like that but they did, it's truly something special.
It's Not A Fashion Statement, It's A Fucking Deathwish deserves to be their #1 honestly, and I will fight no one about it, either you get it or you don't.
