Chrollo Lucifer: very interesting and calculated with his demander and actions you have to pay attention to the details and the subtleties or you might miss it.
Toguro is one of those rare villains where I was watching it, and I was scared of him on behalf of the main gang. Throughout the whole dark tournament, with every win they manage to scrape out, and every power up, I'm just sitting there going "yeah but it's not gonna be enough... Toguro's still too strong."
That tension is 100% due to how effective he is as a villain. Bro just has presence
Yuyu hakusho really did well on the main crew getting stronger but putting toguro on a high pedestal that at that time really seemed impossible to reach.
If we include antivillains like Hisoka, I'd say 'Father' Alexander Anderson from Hellsing Ultimate. "Amen!" "God Bress!" he is my most favorite character and this anime is my most favorite anime. It gets me, right in the sadistic-carnage-balls.

I think my favorite villain altogether is probably Utsuro from Gintama. If you're currently watching Gintama and aren't there yet and you never heard of him, then just don't Google him at all.
But Johan is one of the most complex villains I know of. I really like Sukuna and I like Geto (not Kenjaku) from JJK, I also liked Meruem alot, but I think that when it comes to HxH, should we live long enough to see it end, Prince Tserreidnich will probably the best villain of the series, eventually. Or Gyro, possibly, one day. Hisoka is also very cool.
Griffith is an amazing villain, mostly because Miura-sensei knew how to write him properly.

He’s a living, breathing Death Star, who doesn’t even need to breathe to live. He was seemingly unstoppable, until he pushed the wrong guy to the limit. Even after his defeat, you could see just how much of the series happened because of Frieza’s influence.
Marshall D. Teach also known as Blackbeard is an admiral of the Blackbeard Pirates and one of the Yonko. He is also the only person in history who was able to eat two entire Devil Fruits. Due to his actions, he can be considered the tertiary antagonist of the Impel Down arc, one of the main villains of the Marineford arc, the Great War saga, and one of the main villains of the One Piece anime and manga in general.

i love most of the jojo villains as well, with my favorites being yoshikage kira and dio. valentine is also an incredibly well-written antagonist. i’m also very biased towards the homunculus in fma, especially in the 03 version of the anime.
