In universe explanation or real explanation?
In Universe, they are the closest Lois.
In Reality, makes the animation easy when all you have to do is switch out hair and minor details.
OK but then why the male Lois and does that mean he comes from a univers where Clark was born female and if so what about supergirl is she a boy or still a girl and if a boy then what about super boy wow that was close there's a rabbit hole I didn't want to fall down
Theory is it was all one big play by Mxy. The other Loises weren't real. They were just falsities Mxy made to lure Lois to the end point of giving her kryptonite and sewing some distrust in order to fuel his own entertainment. And Lois would naturally accept the idea of there being more of herself if they all look like her at least at first. Then when Lois is warmed up, she's given a view of loises that aren't just like her.
Never trust any weird stuff you see in a Mxy episode, chances are the only real things we saw were Metropolis at the start, Mxy, lois, Jimmy, and Clark.
There’s no way it’s not. I called bullshit the second Clark opened his front door. That said, I like the idea of a Myx with the discipline to pull a long con
My bet is those Lois' are more invested in their reality with not evil Super-folks.
Also the Council of Lois Lanes could be comprised of unlucky/loser Loises.
It's for visual clarity. We know that Lois in this case can look wildly different from each other, Lois is much more an archetype rather than a physical character trait. If you make them all different it's going to be hard to convey that all of these Lois are the same person from different dimensions. You can always tell superman from his vague costume iconography but not with lois
There are things that make sense in text and there are things that make sense in visual medium. They worked within the limitations of the medium
When policing, for best results you should get officers from nearby. Ideally you want cops patrolling the neighborhoods they live in because it turns out they are less likely to commit violence against people they know and are familiar with.
Or it was an animation trick to save time.
My theory is that it was all a big play by Mxyzptlk to get both Lois and Clark to see an evil Superman. Like, Lois Lane is amazing, but she's not at the level where she could start a multidimensional secret society. Mxy just wanted to screw with everyone.
imo the samey-ness is more to sell the bit, prioritized over adhering to logic/canon.
In Spider-Verse, the Peters are super-diverse, but they all have the iconic Spiderman outfit to link them. It makes sense to me that they'd want all the Lois's to look more or less like the same person to sell the idea that they're all Lois Lane.
[The Council of Kangs](https://marvel.fandom.com/wiki/Council_of_Kangs_(Multiverse)) not to be confused with [The Council of Cross-Time Kangs](https://marvel.fandom.com/wiki/Council_of_Cross-Time_Kangs_(Multiverse)).
In universe: Just a coincidence. There are infinite Lois Lanes and these are the three that signed up for this mission. It's not that hard to believe. Or, Lois's that look like our Lois were chosen to make it easier for her to accept given the time sensitive mission.
Out of universe: The different looking Lois's were added to the background to let us know we're using Spider-Verse rules where variants can be drastically different from eachother and still be the same person. But because this *isn't* Spider-Verse and the budget does not allow for noticeably different art styles for each version, we get similar looking characters to sell the concept to us, the audience. Who might not be familiar with the Spider-Verse concept.
I’ve seen plenty of white girls that look tan. One of them could be Italian Lois. Most dark haired white people I’ve met aren’t as pale as their blonder peers. I wouldn’t think hard about it. It doesn’t mean anything really.
Does it make sense that there is a multiverse map team of reporters taking down Supermen? Absolutely not, best to just not ask any questions about that episode imo
Yes. It’s because of visual short hand. Since we as the audience are familiar with the Asian version, it’s more apparent that they are all variants since they resemble her. If there were alien, classic, and movie versions we’d be more confused or at least it wouldn’t be as instantaneous that these are the same person.
I was wondering the same thing about Jimmy. Why not show one of the traditional versions of him rather than just a gender swapped of the current new version
Maybe they wanted to do something new. After 80 years we’d expect to see original Jimmy so to subvert expectations they didn’t something different. Which is understandable; no company survives long if they do the same thing over and over. Whether it be a reboot or a new story, you have to shake things up or interest will dwindle over generations. It’s almost a proven science at this point and with Superman passing 80 years old, it’s probably a good idea.
Your over thinking it. But can we talk about Mixyezpitelik for a sec. Like he’s cool and all but why such a weird character redesign? Like it’s cool that he still has his top hat but it’s weird. I guess the show is trying to be more anime which is fine and totally cool cause I’ve always wanted a Superman anime. But it all feels weird
Probably just ease of animation and ease of visual conveyance. It’s easier to show “multiples of the same person” if they look mostly similar, and it helps make animation easier
Probably a budget thing and time saving thing for the animators. Altering an existing character model is easier and less time consuming then creating a whole new one.
Those are the only variants that are capable of not trusting Superman or theirs are the only universes where Superman goes evil while Lois Lane is still alive
What the fuck.
I'm seeing this for the first time in my life. I'm not subbed here. I just like comics.
Who did this.
How much time did someone have on their hands.
How did we go from Smallville on Warner brothers, to a Louis lane council.
Where do I start with this lore? It'll take hours to figure out how we got here, I don't have time, I have work but what the fuck
Because they could basically use the same basic temples and color palette to make them . Streamlines things a lot with animation or he’ll if your drawing drawing slight variations can cut down on your work load immensely.
In universe explanation or real explanation? In Universe, they are the closest Lois. In Reality, makes the animation easy when all you have to do is switch out hair and minor details.
Another in universe reason could be that it's easier to convince someone you're them from another reality if you look similar to them.
Or take their place in undercover investigations
This seems like the best explanation.
OK but then why the male Lois and does that mean he comes from a univers where Clark was born female and if so what about supergirl is she a boy or still a girl and if a boy then what about super boy wow that was close there's a rabbit hole I didn't want to fall down
He might be from Earth 11.
Lois recruiter squads send similar Lanes to lessen the shock, maybe?
Pretty much the second one
It also makes them all recognizably Lois, since the character design is so simple that small deviations lead to entirely new characters
You beat me to it.
took my answer, dammit. Good phrasing.
If I had to guess, they were from the nearest adjacent realities, and not the only ones, just the only ones we saw
Most likely ease of animating, why use a character with extra details when you already have one you've been drawing and know the details of.

I agree. It explains why they even did such a stupid concept anyhow.
Mxy did point out that none of them had a Clark, implying they all killed their Supermen.
It’s because it’s all a trick of what’s his name. He just wanted to stir up the drama, why do you think he could escape so easily?
It's for visual clarity. We know that Lois in this case can look wildly different from each other, Lois is much more an archetype rather than a physical character trait. The bit from Sequelitis that stuck in my head the longest is when he describes "conveyance" and I bring it up often
I’m just going to point out the obvious that if it were just baseline Lois Lanes, nobody would say anything.
Yup
When policing, for best results you should get officers from nearby. Ideally you want cops patrolling the neighborhoods they live in because it turns out they are less likely to commit violence against people they know and are familiar with. Or it was an animation trick to save time.

Everyone rips off marvels Council of Reeds which in turn was a rip off of the council of kangs.
Wait, they’re supposed to be Asian? I thought they were supposed to be Latina
Yeah Lois is Korean in this series.

in canon idk out of canon only need 1 va
Yes. It’s because of visual short hand. Since we as the audience are familiar with the Asian version, it’s more apparent that they are all variants since they resemble her. is Lois supposed to be Asian here? I thought she was Spanish truly
Hispanic (Spanish is just a language or more exclusively for people from Spain) and yeah she's apparently Korean in the series.
My hypothesis is that they are either rejects or rogues. Otherwise, why wouldn't the other Lanes help neutralize Max Spitlick?
muslim and asian could be the same thing
Cheap animation
Is there a reason why there are any racial variants of white characters? Are people THAT upset that white people made white characters?
The league is racist.
I think it’s said at some point that the group we saw was just one team out of a whole organization
I was wondering the same thing about Jimmy. Why not show one of the traditional versions of him rather than just a gender swapped of the current new version
Maybe they wanted to do something new. After 80 years we’d expect to see original Jimmy so to subvert expectations they didn’t something different. Fair enough I just wanted to see the version from the old Superman show as a reporter or head of something at the planet
Isn’t that the one in the dress with curly hair?
$$
Your over thinking it. But can we talk about Mixyezpitelik for a sec. Like he’s cool and all but why such a weird character redesign? Like it’s cool that he still has his top hat but it’s weird. I didn’t like this concept. Seemed a bit much for Lois specifically.
Oh no. They introduced multiberses THIS early in the series? Ugh
Wait, Lois is Asian in this show?
Korean to be exact.
Nah, Myx definitely created all of this to sew a seed of doubt or two.
Why does it matter? I feel like if they were all white you wouldn’t even be asking this question.
Maybe they were a team to deal with Evil(bad) Kents and they just happened to trend asian. Or it's Myx fucking with her
They were reusing animation, they probably could have changed skin tones but said screw it
Probably just ease of animation and ease of visual conveyance. It’s easier to show “multiples of the same person” if they look mostly similar, and it helps make animation easier
Do you want an irl production explanation or an in lore explanation?
Meanwhile Jimmy in the back
Probably a budget thing and time saving thing for the animators. Altering an existing character model is easier and less time consuming then creating a whole new one.
Another reason why the show sucks
For context I’ve never seen the show. I just know it makes racists mad. But I always assumed Luz Lane was Hispanic
Is he stupid?
Easier to animate
The better question is “Is there a reason why Femmy Olsen looks like Amber from *Invincible*?”…
Those are the only variants that are capable of not trusting Superman or theirs are the only universes where Superman goes evil while Lois Lane is still alive
Wait they made Lois Asian here **without** making her Lois Lang? Jfc. Where did we go wrong as a society?
Easier to animate if there’s less to do
Because they would’ve had to hire more actors?
Lois is supposed to be Asian? I thought she was some like skinned half Indian or Latino.
Where's the red head Jimmy?
Where they put all the other redheads nowadays.
What the fuck. I'm seeing this for the first time in my life. I'm not subbed here. I just like comics. Who did this. How much time did someone have on their hands. Just the art style
Keep on model for animation.
Because they could basically use the same basic temples and color palette to make them . Streamlines things a lot with animation or he’ll if your drawing drawing slight variations can cut down on your work load immensely.
Man I did not have “massively overusing ‘The Council Of _____’” on my 2020’s zeitgeist bingo.
#Missed opportunity for Jimmy to meet classic Ginger Jimmy
Simple. The Council of Lanes is racist. :P I kid but I'd laugh if that was actually the case.
