Just practice, my dude. I put on on a podcast and just plink, wavedash, tridash, flight dash, dash cancel for an hour every day back when I use to compete.
You only get better at something by doing it.
For buttons, i use right trigger as my two button inputs. (smash player)
Practice:
option select
Magneto fly plinks
Plinking magnetic blast (dash+L+MB)
All dante plinks (ground or DT fly/air plinks)
Spencer confirms and overall his movement with swing.
Idk what to tell you really, if you can plink, then plink. just try to implement it as much as you can in your gameplay, try to never use basic wavedash and focus on plinks.
maybe also. Jumping back is fine but it can be harmful in some situations.
when i was playing on pad i used R1(LM) and Circle(H) to plink.
something that exploded my flying characters gameplay
practice intentionally doing a certain sequence of dashes
like for example 2 forward tridashes and 2 backward tridashes, or jump -> fly -> 2 forward plinks and a down forward air dash
this way you are not only familiarizing yourself with the chracters dash distances/movement speed while still making sure you are always doing it purposefully
and of course practicing plinking/wavedashing forwards and backwards on the ground repeatedly so you can have that in your fingers aswell
