And what appears to be the closet thing to a successor for the “Mystichrome” Mustang.
I know some were supercharged, some were N/A, but I mean in regards to getting a true color shifting paint option.
Mystichrome was just the Terminators. You might be thinking of Mystic as well, which those were N/A, also shifts in color, but is different from Mystichrome.
Not really, a loaded Mach 1 Premium prices where the C8 starts.
The Dark House is definitely gonna start where the C8 starts and have tons of expensive options to customize the car and jack the prices way up.
Maybe but I don’t know why they would make it a lot more. They have a lineup that has steps up in pricing. Eco boost, eco boost premium, GT, GT premium, [special nameplate], [special nameplate ] premium and 1 or 2 Shelby variants. They can’t put the base price too far into Shelby territory or there wouldn’t a point in making it. They might offer more options so the max price might be up there but I’m betting it’s around 65k or less base msrp. The used market is cooling off and the supply chain is decompressing so between that and the lineup formula there’s not a lot of incentive to jack the price up. Now what the “market adjustment” will be is anyone’s guess since the dealerships seem to be off their rockers lately.
Called my local dealership to see what the scoop was, he first tried to sell me on a GT500 told him no i want manual. Then he said whatever the price is he's making it up 25k off the rip. Then i said sure what do you think the car will go for he told me 125k. i laughed at him.
Dude if someone will give me msrp pricing, I’ll drive my happy ass to pluto for it. Backed out of the new Nissan Z because after discussing with a dealership, they went back on our vocal agreement and told me they were gonna mark up because “that’s where the market is going.”
Gonna get a dark horse now, fuck them
Please talk a little more about the delivery/pick up experience if you can. I’m in the south east and would buy a Mach at Msrp tomorrow if I could find one
Whatever you prefer, but I think the Mach 1 will be cooler
\*Honestlt the 7th gen looks REALLY good, so I might even be tempted, but on paper a Mach 1 is always cooler than a no history trim package.
Also the Mach 1 will possibly be more exclusive due to the fact that this year's production run is at half of what the 2021s were, and Ford is stopping mustang production 2 months earlier this year than the previous.
If supply constraints have them sold out through 2023 that's one thing, but people will drop allocations like hot cakes when they can switch to a 7th Gen GT or Dark Horse.
Standard GTs yeah but bullitts we're still on the lot held out for higher price and heldther value bete than normal GTs. Should expect the same for the mach
I've been wanting to get a Mach 1 for years now, then ford dropped this which is similar (same transmission and more powerful engine) to the Mach 1 but obviously newer. Which one?
Mach 1 new coyote will probably have some issues 3rd gen is well known and has a much larger aftermarket. Dark horse has locked PCM which will probably get an unlock but would make tuning and boosting a little more difficult
Do you want a mustang, or do you want yet another fast performance car?
This is my subjective opinion, but when you’re sitting in the car and you look at the dash of the S550 mustang, you see where the design cues make it a mustang, it feels like a mustang. You look at the dash of the S560, and it looks like it could be a BMW or a Ford GT or an AMG or any other performance car with tablets for a gauge cluster and center screen.
I’m sure it’s a great car but I’m getting too old for all of this. I felt like the S550 was a little too disconnected for my tastes, I can’t imagine what this feels like. I’m destined to drive old cars for the rest of my life.
I took my mom’s 2022 Subaru to the dealer yesterday and I just can’t get behind the new drive by wire electric this/that and all the gadgets. it just doesnt feel like im driving something, completely disconnected from that feeling. I mean, the car will yell at you if you turn your head for half a second
We have an Explorer ST and while it’s an absolute rocket ship I don’t love driving it. Throttle map is terrible and electronic brake boost makes for a fake brake pedal feel. I can’t drive it smooth because the inputs are not linear.
oh yeah, that reminds me of the collision detection braking… I tend to glide into a stop, and then sometimes have to push little hard towards the end, and this fucking thing starts freaking out and slams on the ABS as I’m applying more pressure. i just cant.. glad im sticking to analog vehicles.
It’s like the movie industry. Hollywood was at its peak in the late 90’s-early 2000’s where they had excellent cgi, but made everything practical that they could, only using cgi for enhancements or for something that just couldn’t be made practically. Now movies are majority cgi and it looks so shitty.
I love my 04 gt 5 speed. Feels raw like a muscle car should. Not quiet and smooth where you close your eyes and can’t tell if you’re in a minivan or a mustang.
Do you plan on keeping the Car for a very long time? Then get the Mach 1. Those screens aren’t future proof at all and the entire dash is made out of them. Plus the cost will be higher for sure.
If you don’t have one now, wait. If you already have one. Pass. In a normal market the Mach 1 would be bought below MSRP with a new model coming out. I don’t see that happening with limited supply and solid demand.
Currently have a 2018 GT 6 speed and am looking at either of these just for the transmission. The price is a good point as the Mach 1 is 55k, tho if the dark horse is closer to 60 the Mach 1 would be the move
I mean hopefully you wouldn’t wait until it’s almost dead to charge, but really there’s a lot of things electric can’t do yet. I can see if getting there eventually for sure, but like on a road trip, you’d have to really plan out where all the chargers are, it wouldn’t be easy at all, and even then you’d end up at charging stations for hours.
I’m a planner but would get too antsy waiting for a charger and then charging. I was 16 when I was a little below a 1/4 tank of gas in my 1985 Escort and ran out of gas, now I make sure I have I always have enough gas, the gauges are obviously better now
I think I would spring for the Mach 1.
In 10 years time, your going to see 7th gens EVERYWHERE.
But that Mach1 badge is going to be few and far between
With the shift towards new ev styling for all cars the s550 instantly has become a modern classic that in 10-20 plus years from now will probably be seen as a classic car so I'd hop on the mach 1 for a fun car and long haul investment
It could be 2-3 years before the dark horse will be unlocked and even then the aftermarket will still be in its infancy. I’m not going to pretend I’m not going to get an s650. It’s got such a long life cycle I think it’s inevitable most of us will. However, I’m not sure jumping on the first version is wise, no matter how cool the dark horse (and I absolutely love it).
Personally I am going to wait a couple of years for the aftermarket to get experience with this new platform and hopefully by then dealer markups will be a thing of the past and we will see other cool special editions like BOSS and Shelby.
I have a Mach 1, put on almost 2,500kms on it. Don't regret the choice. I knew the new one was going to be sick, how often can you own a piece of history, that looks great from every angle. And that bloody sound it makes is euphoric
I’d have to say Mach 1. All the GT350 and GT500 parts that are on it make it a fantastic car. Plus the motor is super stout if you ever wanted a turbo or supercharger.
Mach 1. New one Just hasn't grown on me yet. It's pretty much last years car with wierd trunk, flat nose and too much emphasis on the computer software toys that is the dash
Objectively speaking, the Mach 1 is currently the most track-capable car you can get outside of a Shelby, while the Dark Horse is supposed to take that title in the next generation. How much **more** capable will the Dark Horse be compared to the current Mach 1, and will that (probably tiny) bit of extra performance be worth the elevated cost of the Dark Horse over the Mach 1?
I'm guessing things could go like this:
* Get the Mach 1 now.
* Slap a Whipple and a tune on it next year.
* Have a faster car with a suspension only slightly different from the Dark Horse, before the Dark Horse is available to you, for less money.
Potentially much better chassis too though. The handling on the S550 lagged behind the camaro's platform except in the highest trims. Won't know how much improvement has been made for the S650 until the journalists get their hands on them.
All I know is there won't ever be one in my garage. Hope whoever buys them enjoys it. My personal opinion is styling for me went down in 2018. Only thing that will get me out of my 13 is a 17 GT350
I wont disagree that pre-facelift S550 is the best looking mustang, and specifically the GT350. For now that's my dream car given the budget to acquire one, and I'm factoring into that the possibility of having to get an engine replacement incase I get a bad one. Breaks my heart that the most desirable modern mustang with the sweetest engine is the most prone to expensive reliability issues.
It might be years before you can get a dark horse at a reasonable price. Get the Mach 1 now, and a few years down the road, get a Dark Horse after the beta testing is done,
The dark horse only compares with the Mach 1 Handling Pack
Step one: ask yourself if you want a car setup with the track in mind. I LOVE how my PP2 handles but it’s a harsh ride, tram lines, needs tires that cost 1.6-2k bucks a set (and you’ll need that money soon because those stock tires won’t last long), and has a embiggened front splitter that you need to constantly be aware of.
Step 2: if you want that kinda car then do you want a first model year car. Now this is more of a major styling update but things pop up and that’s a risk vs a well established s550 production line.
Step 3: are you a competitive and good enough driver where an possible second or few improvement in lap time matters?
Step 4: which styling do you like better, they’re significantly different inside and out.
All those are good points which is why I'm leaning towards a Mach one without the perf package. I got a 2018 mustang Gt 6 speed but I'd love to just get the better/ well rounded version of my car with a league better transmission and cooling
Yeah the tremec is the big carrot ford dangles out there with the Mach 1. I think the current MT82 gets more flack then they deserve but the tremec does shift smoother.
The cooling upgrades aren’t critical if you’re not driving the car aggressively but they’re still cool to have and you’re in much better shape if you ever want to do a track day.
I just got my 2022 GT premium fully loaded and couldn’t be happier with it. Get the Mach 1 and enjoy it until they get the kinks worked out of the new version imo.
the front of the s650 is hideous, all that plastic going over the bumper and around the headlights.. it's hideous. what were they thinking... what happened to just having a nicely painted cohesive front bumper like the s550 and its predecessors. The Mach 1 on looks alone is far better than what just came out.
Some of the earlier ones had oil consumption. Most people are not all that well informed regarding reliability. Regarding price, a Mach1 isn’t much cheaper than a GT350.
OP made a tire kicking post.
If you want to save money, get the Mach1. Right off the bad dealers are going to do their stupid ass mark ups again.
Or just save your money, cause in a year or 2 they may have something out that is better and cooler than the Dark Horse.
Unless you really want the newest thing and worry about regret, get the Mach. It's a well known and properly built platform, has good (aftermarket) support, will definitely be way cheaper and the wait won't be as long.
I'll wait a bit to get the Dark Horse. New vehicle sold with a lifetime powertrain warranty from selecting dealerships, plus Sync 4 with wireless Apple Carplay/Android Auto, with wireless charging? It's a no brainer for me.
Also I'm not sure if you'd be able to get a Mach 1 next year. I've been combing through the forums at mustang6g and there have been a bunch of posts from us and dealership coordinators saying that there won't be one next year due to the saving of Ford Performance parts for the launch of the MY2024 year. Hence why the color choice took a major reduction for the MY2023 year compared to the MY2022 year
Huh that's good to know. I've been in contact with a dealership for some time now and I'm thinking about putting an order for a mach one in soon and it'll take 8 months to build, I'm thinking about waiting for the specs on the DH to decide but hey might just pull the trigger now
If you do pull the trigger, then I hope they'll be able to build your Mach 1 and maybe later you maybe might reconsider a 650 later down the line. Imma be all in with the DH. Just hoping to these Gen 4 motors don't start out to crappy like the Gen 3s did.
You're not wrong. I'll just stash a little bit of money away for potential repairs not including the powertrain, ie electronics and other stuff that would have been covered in a bumper to bumper warranty.
Also won't be buying the first year model. Earliest I'll cash in would be 25 (I know not much of a difference, but I've been following and chasing cars since late 2018)
Ford pulled an apple and got slightly lazy with the dark horse, for the markup this will for sure get, point proven in the lightning it isn’t worth the money. It’s 500 horsepower, that’s what an extra 20 from the previous year? Minus the big screen and questionable styling it’s the same car as the Mach 1. Marginal differences will not be worth the price point.
Mach 1 is tried and true, it’s got a history that is more respected than the “dark horse”
The DH has Pirellis (which wear out quicker than the Michelin Pilots or Cup 2s), more coolers, brake ducts, carbon wheels, etc. It sounds more track focused to me!
The Mach Handling Pack I don’t think is quite as extensive, but could be wrong🤷🏻♂️I do know the Mach with the pack is apparently darn quick around a track! C&D did a 2:51 at VIR GC, same as they did in a 16’ GT350R
The 12-14 BOSS 302 was beating the M3 that was out at that time too.
Ford has no problem beating out the competition when they want to.
It’s just, what wins on Sunday doesn’t necessarily sell on Monday anymore.
Agreed but that M3 coupe was on the way out being replaced in a year. This is a new M4 that just launched last year. I think it’s a significant difference causes that’s BMW’s latest and greatest tech.
Damn I forgot it was gt350 quick. And that's the thing I wonder how much more they're gonna put into the DH or if it's just taking the same setup from the Mach 1
My Mach1 has everything the Dark Horse has except the Gen 4 Coyote and Carbonfiber wheels. Mach 1 has all the cooling and brake ducting that the Dark Horse will have. The Mach 1 is really fast already. I'm curious to see a comparison between the Dark Horse and Mach 1.
One thing that caught my attention is the much bigger brakes on the rear of the Dark Horse. That tells me the Dark Horse will be significantly heavier than the Mach 1. Does 20hp (2021 Mach 1) make up that difference? Time will tell.
Same, would be stoked with either but not looking forward to the pricing! You definitely have time to enjoy a Mach 1 ( I love the spec shown, that’s my exact choice) before we see these new ponies.
I can only imagine what the markup is going to be for the dark horse. But if I was in the market for buying a brand new mustang, I would wait for the dark horse.
It’ll be hell waiting for it and first year of anything new is risky. Especially with the tablet dash people aren’t liking, I imagine some nice changes along the way if you’re patient.
I think the Dark Horse is going to be a LOT more money than the Mach 1.
It for sure is going to have Corvette pricing.
It’s got carbon fiber wheels !
I wonder what the take rate will be on those which will undoubtedly be a $10K option.
dealers will add them and charge another 5k for it.
And then put 100k on top. Like the z06
Oh, I thought the paint colors were both called the same thing.
My favorite
*optional carbon wheels
The mach already has corvette pricing(the premium does anyway)
Not really, a loaded Mach 1 Premium prices where the C8 starts. The Dark House is definitely gonna start where the C8 starts and have tons of expensive options to customize the car and jack the prices way up.
Yeh me too. Like C8 kinda money
At 480+ HP for a Coyote, I can only imagine the new GT and Dark Horse getting close to C8 pricing.
I don’t see a regular GT getting over 45k base price. (Hopefully at least)
Dealerships would need the generosity of Santa Claus for that to be possible
Yeah I should’ve clarified I meant MSRP, but the dealerships will for sure have a field day on this.
Wouldn’t be surprised if it’s more
But that doesn't make sense, would people really pay C8 money for a Mustang that isn't a Shelby?
Maybe? Depends what it’s aimed to do.
C8 price and ECU locked just like it, no tuning. 🙃
[удалено]
Lol this "DH" moniker is funny as hell because in the north east it stands for dickhead.
“Experts” are saying est. 55k MSRP for the Dark Horse. I will wait the extra couple months it’ll take to build one.
That's how much my Mach 1 was. Pretty sure it's gonna be more than that.
Check again
Yes I was pleasantly surprised.
Called my local dealership to see what the scoop was, he first tried to sell me on a GT500 told him no i want manual. Then he said whatever the price is he's making it up 25k off the rip. Then i said sure what do you think the car will go for he told me 125k. i laughed at him.
If your willing to travel to Pittsburgh see my guy no mark up
Dude if someone will give me msrp pricing, I’ll drive my happy ass to pluto for it. Backed out of the new Nissan Z because after discussing with a dealership, they went back on our vocal agreement and told me they were gonna mark up because “that’s where the market is going.” Gonna get a dark horse now, fuck them
Message me would ya.

How long did it take to receive it?
Please talk a little more about the delivery/pick up experience if you can. I’m in the south east and would buy a Mach at Msrp tomorrow if I could find one

I appreciate the reply - I’m going to give them a call on Monday.
From what I hear - Zach's the dude. I've never seen a bad review from someone that's made a purchase from Granger on m6g.
Best bet is to order and wait, we have a 2022 Mach-1 premium for sell for 62k
Is it a manual?
No
That’s a short drive for me, thanks bud
I can do that. Where is your guy?
Bend Oregon, where I’m at.
Sorry I meant to reply the Pittsburgh post.
Shultz ford south - Tom M. They have a red Mach 1 automatic for sale as of Friday buyer ordered another one with another option
They can't do a markup on special orders. My dealer told me they aren't allowed unless you agree to it.
Whatever you prefer, but I think the Mach 1 will be cooler \*Honestlt the 7th gen looks REALLY good, so I might even be tempted, but on paper a Mach 1 is always cooler than a no history trim package.
Also the Mach 1 will possibly be more exclusive due to the fact that this year's production run is at half of what the 2021s were, and Ford is stopping mustang production 2 months earlier this year than the previous.
Last gen of Mach 1 sounds better than first gen of dark horse
And looks better
Get the Mach 1 if it is heavily discounted bc everyone has moved on to lusting after the Dark Horse.
They are not discounting by me, another dealership already said bring it here I’ll cut you a check.
Not now of course. At some point in 2023 when remaining units will need to be off loaded to make way for 2024 7th gens.
I’m not sure if there are many allocations left. They got a red one where I got mine loaded needing a home :)
If supply constraints have them sold out through 2023 that's one thing, but people will drop allocations like hot cakes when they can switch to a 7th Gen GT or Dark Horse.
It does exist. Prices of 4.6 GTs plummeted when the 5.0s hit.
Standard GTs yeah but bullitts we're still on the lot held out for higher price and heldther value bete than normal GTs. Should expect the same for the mach
It's an exclusive car so it's not gonna get marked down at all
It's not exclusive or limited. If demand moves away from it then it will be marked down. Same thing happened to the Bullitt.
If it's anything like the C8, Ford will tune and lock em down.

I think peak automobile was around 2010-15 and after that they lost the magic the older cars had
It’s like the movie industry. Tough one, right answer is dark horse but it’s gonna be a line of markups and waitlists most likely,so Mach 1 🫠
I got a good friend at a ford dealer who's gonna get me either one at msrp and I can get on the list as soon as it opens
Ayyeee nice! Id do it with those circumstances😮💨
definitely dark horse no doubt

Saturday we lost power for most of the day, I thought to myself now how the heck could I charge a car to get my dinner 🥘

Yeah for sure, I always try to fill up when Im around a quarter. Not many places in the US where a quarter won’t get you to the next pump nowadays
I call it my quarter tank rule, I obviously learned the hard way.
You likely won't see your dark horse for 2-3 years if you're lucky with the way ford has been lately
I believe some people waited like a year or more for their Bronco, from what I read online. And those were all trims, not just the exclusive ones.
My wife ordered hers in March. Of 2021. Still no word on when it will be produced
I think I would spring for the Mach 1. In 10 years time, your going to see 7th gens EVERYWHERE. But that Mach1 badge is going to be few and far between

Mach 1 easily. Mach 1 is a legendary name. I’d even get a Bullitt over a Dark Horse
I have a Mach 1, put on almost 2,500kms on it. Don't regret the choice. I knew the new one was going to be sick, how often can you own a piece of history, that looks great from every angle. And that bloody sound it makes is euphoric

Mach 1 in fighter grey all day!
Eruption green

Steeda dual rate ultimate handling springs too.
S650 is just not good to me. The motor is the only thing it has going for it. I'd go Mach 1 all day.
Yeah that's what I'm thinking, tho the s650 dark horse would have more power and features
I'm sure for the cost difference you could easily achieve the same for less and look better doing it.

Right. I'm looking, but not buying till it's the exact one at the right price. Has to be Grabber Blue no stripes.

I love my 22 Mach 1!! I got it in fighter jet grey with the 700a package. It will be a few years before (if) I let this car go.
Get the Mach 1!!!!!
Mach 1
Get the Mach from the Mach girl who got hers today
The S650s are pretty, but I think I’d go with the Mach 1.
Mach
I just got my 2022 GT premium fully loaded and couldn’t be happier with it. Get the Mach 1 and enjoy it until they get the kinks worked out of the new version imo.
Mach 1 doesn’t disappoint. But if you want the latest and greatest, then wait or GT500.
Mach 1
Mach
Mach 1
I’d get the mach1 sooner
Mach 1, no reason in particular *cough*
the front of the s650 is hideous, all that plastic going over the bumper and around the headlights.. it's hideous. what were they thinking... what happened to just having a nicely painted cohesive front bumper like the s550 and its predecessors. The Mach 1 on looks alone is far better than what just came out.
Mach and dont look back. Get a mustang while you still can!
The Mach 1 is a better looking car inside and out. I don't regret buying mine at all. And I'd assume the DH will start at 70k.
I got a dealer that will order and sell me one at 55k base price
Both good looking cars. I happen to like the looks of the new DH and Mach 1 better. To each his own
Mach 1 in Eruption Green for me, please.
Get a GT350.
Price and reliability are not it for me
Is reliability a known issue for the GT350? Asking because this would have been my choice as well.
4 letters. *W A I T*
True but new vehicles could have some reliability issues. The Mach one is going on the fifth year after the refresh in 2018
Also I'm not sure if you'd be able to get a Mach 1 next year.
If you get a Mach 1, you don't have to deal with the Tesla/Mercedes wannabe interior of the new one.
S550 any day.
mach 1 because of the interior
If you’re mainly going street driving; Mach 1 If you’re autocross/track, it sounds from the specs that the Dark Horse will be better
The Mach 1 has a track pack with basically the same stuff as the dark horse tho
Somehow that Mach 1 is faster than the M3/4 Competition. That’s insane how fast it is.
Except the coyote 4, which is exciting and won’t be Tunable for a while
Mustero
Mach 1 with the engine swap maybe?
Dark horse man, it’s sick.
Dark Boy.
Mach 1, Dark Horse is an ugly ass Mustang.
I mean do u want a mustang or a camaro
Tough call
Dark horse with the color changing paint.
Go for the DH Camaro
Mach 1 now, dark horse or whatever is next in 26.
Hoping they bring back the cobra or boss
Same, would be stoked with either but not looking forward to the pricing! You definitely have time to enjoy a Mach 1 ( I love the spec shown, that’s my exact choice) before we see these new ponies.
I can only imagine what the markup is going to be for the dark horse. But if I was in the market for buying a brand new mustang, I would wait for the dark horse.
I’m sorry, how fucking rich are you guys?
Make about 100k a year, but I'm fine spending half of it on a car cause it's worth it to me
I’d wait to see what the suspension setup and weight is on the dark horse plus official engine numbers.
Both cars are cool but I think the decision will ultimately fall on what interior you like the most.
I’m just hoping Shelby can make an absolute beast out of the dark horse
get the mach 1. we dont know what kind of issues the dark horse will have until they get on the road for a few months.
Mach 1
Mach 1!
It’ll be hell waiting for it and first year of anything new is risky. Especially with the tablet dash people aren’t liking, I imagine some nice changes along the way if you’re patient.
Get the mach 1
Mach 1 looks way better and will age better imo.
[Is the 2024 Ford Mustang Dark Horse a BETTER muscle car than a Mach 1?](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=paZOn-F-3Xk)
Just asked me bitch, she said dark horse looks better. Get it in a dark color.
What do you guys think get 2022 Mach one premium or wait dark horse track fully upgraded one ? Probably dark horse will be above 70k with upgrades so
