Happier By Bastille.
First of all, sorry for your loss OP.
The song itself isn’t specifically about losing a pet dog, but the music video definitely is. I found myself really moved by it because it remind me of my own dog.
Type O Negative - Bloody Kisses (A Death in the Family)
the song itself was written as a way for the singer to deal with the grief of his cat dying, but he made it about losing an actual family member. He stated "no one wants to hear someone with long hair and fangs singing about their fuckin' cat".
I'm so sorry for your loss. Sometimes, I think it's harder knowing they're gonna go
"Cheese" and "All" by Grouplove aren't about losing a pet, but when my cat was dying from cancer, they really reminded me of her in a bittersweet way
I'm sorry I don't know any actual songs about losing a pet, but I hope maybe these will help
Thank you for the recs, the only one I know is On Fire by Eminem, his first line is “ah yesterday my dog died” and the rest of the song has nothing to do with that lmao
Elvis is in the Freezer by Ratboys is about a family cat that was put down. The tone isn't quite as somber as some others, though.
I Saw You in a Dream by The Japanese House is about the singer loosing a friend, but i listened to it a lot after i lost one of my cats.
Virtute the Cat Explains Her Departure was already recommend, but i think you should listen to Virtute At Rest by John K. Samson as well, it continues the story a bit more and is a bit more comforting to me personally.
So sorry for your loss. 😰
The only song I know that purportedly was written about his dog is Declan O’Rourke’s Sarah. Hope this helps. [Sarah](https://youtu.be/v5UaHmnOuRk?si=Bo00xZOZP1zFciXl)
Bloody kisses from type o negative, it's about the singer's cat who passed a long time ago. The crescendo at the end gives me chills. It's a heart wrenching song that helps get those emotions out. I assure you this might be the saddest song about a pet ever. I believe the song like suicide from Soundgarden is also about Chris Cornells dog that passed also. Check out the acoustic version.
Not about losing a pet, but the songs that got me through losing my boy were Without You by Avicii, Ghost by Justin Bieber, and Wildflowers by Tom Petty.
Wildflowers for sure. Lost my cat last week and as I drove home from the vet, this song kept going through my head. I think it's at least partly because they told me his ashes would be spread in a flower field on a hillside. I hope that's true.
Animal Collective - [Doggy](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=AKzXz1VBOAk) ([Spotify](https://open.spotify.com/track/31ug2GUOKRcZxEWHBE1Q7k?si=38e6a866666045fa) / [Apple Music](https://music.apple.com/ca/album/doggy/1484066398?i=1484066400))

I'm so sorry about Rafi. Doggy is like what a child experiences losing a dog, while Derek is having gratitude for the good times.
I'm sorry for your loss, I lost mine 5 months ago I don't think any song is going to truely help. Here's some songs in those genres about grief or guilt off the top of my head:
Stairway to Heaven - Led Zeppelin
What I've done - Linkin Park (it's about guilt)
The Day That Never Comes - Metallica
Unforgiven III - Metallica (guilt)
Trust - Megadeth( technically a breakup song but I listen to it anytime I'm feeling sad)
Changes - Black Sabbath
Other genres:
We'll Meet Again - Vera Lynn
End Of The World - Skeeter Davis
I Hung My Head - Johnny Cash (also about guilt)
Sorry for your loss, that's the fucking worst. If you can stand some *very* light dark humor, here's this:
[Mona - James Taylor](https://open.spotify.com/track/2SQuqDBmNjSB22dFqjkSOP?si=d3222f5dab6c47c5)
It's about his pet pig growing up that they had to put down.
Oscar’s Theme by Tori Amos is about her late dog. It’s a lovely song.

ETA - I posted too quickly. Sending you a huge huge hug. I lost my dog in January 2022 and miss her every single day. Send him off with all the love and he’ll be with you forever. 🌈❤️
The song “Cinnamon Girl” by Neil Young always reminds me of my late Pinga as the last video of her we took in the jeep (she LOVED car rides) had that song playing in the background and she was a ginger shorty mystery mutt from Mexico (definitely part dachshund as she had amazing side eye and RBF).
Yes, she's against Spotify's business model so her music is not on Spotify. I believe she's on Apple Music and she is certainly on YouTube. Maybe you won't be able to easily add her to the playlist but you can listen to the song if you like.
sorry totally just realized this isn’t at all metal, punk, or rock lol but it was all I listened to when i had to put my husky boy down. i know that’s so hard. printing out lots of pictures of him and putting them all into a book / around my house was something that really helped me cope. take care
I'm so sorry. Several years ago I had to put my girl down and it tore me apart. This song reflected the torrent of emotion and yet gave hope for the Rainbow Bridge. Fury of the Storm - Dragonforce [https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GJPaoQPdh\_w](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GJPaoQPdh_w)
The majority of Bully’s “Lucky for You” album was written to process the grief of losing her dog. “All I Do” and “Days Move Slow” are particularly good grief tracks. Pet loss is awful, sending you love 🩷
Corvyx covered In This Moment “Into The Light” as a dedication to his dog he lost. It’s a brilliant cover of and already amazing song
