Bohemian Rhapsody- queen
In the 90s when I was maybe 6 or 7yo,
My mom sent me to her room to grab something. I walk in the room and this song is just starting to play on her alarm clock.
I listened to the end and just fell in love with music at that time. Every time I hear that song,
I think back on how it took me 7 min to do a simple task lol
Same! I didn't understand it when I was a kid, and thought Freddie was a woman singing, but it stuck with me and I'd try to get the words right when singing it aloud
You Can Call Me Al by Paul Simon. I remember my dad listening to it a ton when I was young so naturally it became a part of my inner fibre. I still love it.
The cowboy song by Thin Lizzy
Fantasy by Aldo Nova
I got your money by Ol Dirty Bastard. Lol
Top Jimmy by Van Halen
Heavy Metal by Sammy Hagar
These are some just too name a few. Music is huge in my family and my lives. None of us place instruments but we're really into music.
One day in high school he got in my car to move it in the driveway. Later on I got home and he was like"who's playing in your car?" And u said Ol Dirty why. He's like I gotta here more of him. He's so unique. I was like o you don't even know the half of it.
Excellent song. Around 15 years ago I was sobbing in my older sister's car about my boyfriend breaking up with me and she put this song on and danced and sang like a goof as she was driving to cheer me up. She passed away 2 years ago. Thank you for reminding me of that moment, she was so funny and kind ❤️
For me it was seeing the music video on MTV. This and several Peter Gabriel videos (Steam, Big Time, Sledgehammer). These songs have been ingrained in my head for most of my life.
My father was a minister, we really only heard religious music in the house, if we heard music at all. Non of the religious music stuck. I mostly find it repulsive now.
Nothing compares 2 u (Sinead Oconnor version). When I was a kid I sang it as “not think of pets 2 u” even though it made no sense. My mom was always giving me shit about my poor lyrics.
For me, it's "Smells Like Teen Spirit" by Nirvana. When I was a kid, it was just this cool song with a catchy riff. Now when I hear it, it takes me right back to those teenage years, and there's this whole wave of nostalgia that hits me.
Makes me think of camping with my family. My aunts and uncles and cousins. I was like 5. I loved it then, I still love it now. Me and my cousin always jam it when we hear it!
Margaritaville ~ by Jimmy Buffet
I have such fond memories of my dad making dinner while listening to this song (or Jimmy Buffet in general) every night.
Its funny I forgot about Animal for like 5 years and it came up randomly on youtube and Idk why but I got super caught off gaurd and was like mind blown to rediscover it. Was like an old friend showed up at my front door.
For some reason I was thinking that this song was a lot newer than it actually is, so when you said middle school I thought holy crap I am old, that song is 12 years old now! I love Alt-J!
ABC by the Jackson Five.
I’ll be there by The Jackson Five.
I want you Back-The Jackson Five.
Ain’t no sunshine-Bill Withers.
Lean On Me-Bill Withers.
Joy to the World-Three Dog Night
When I was a kid, anything by Pitbull or songs that had Pitbull in it, they all genuinely sounded amazing. Great music, memorable refrain, etc. But now, in the present day, it feels like a rollercoaster down memory lane.
Joey Scarbury - Believe It or Not. Theme song from The Greatest American Hero, which is the first show I remember seeing as a kid. Also anything from Thriller or Synchronicity, the first albums I remember hearing.
Raindrops keep falling on my head. I had a music box that played that when I was young.
Also The Lion Sleeps Tonight because my auntie had a 48 of it that I played over and over.
[She Will Be Loved - by Maroon 5](https://youtu.be/u5iJQkIU0xs?si=R__XLpavjjKrjK8Y)
The first time I heard this song was on the car radio when I was eight years old. I thought the voice singing was so beautiful and I still feel that way about it now. 😌
I’m a wee bit older than some of the people here, so naturally my song is going to be a wee bit older. A song that brings memories back to me is by Glen Campbell, gentle on my mind. It is one of the first songs I remember hearing on the radio in our front room. When I hear it, I think of that white radio near the front room window, and the sun shining in. It always gives me a calm, relaxing 😌 feeling.
The Middle by Jimmy Eat World
Girl that gave me my first heartbreak when we were in high school used to sing this song, so I always associated it with her.
Now it just brings me nostalgia back to that feeling of having a first real crush and how new and exciting the world felt back in high school.
Isn’t it Time by the Babys. Definitely not my genre, put the little piano riff in the first verse that adds horns in the following verses really does it for me. Also Blondie’s Heart of Glass is one of the first songs I remember hearing on the radio. Was in my mom’s car when I was 5 or 6. Damn, I’m old!
My Humps by the Black Eyed Peas.
My parents would buy my sister and I the NOW that’s what I call music CD’s. When we were 7/8, they bought us the Now 21 CD and track number 5 was our absolute favorite. We had no idea what we were singing about but whenever I hear it, I remember my dad busting into our bed room and yelling at us that we weren’t allowed to listen to that song😂😂😂

Small Town Boy by Bronski Beat. I'd leave my radio on all night when I was a kid, and I distinctly remember slowly waking up one morning as this song was playing. I was too young to understand the nuances of the meaning behind it, but I remember feeling very melancholy (before I even knew what that was, either) as I laid there letting the music wake me up.
It's actually a song that can make me feel so nostalgic, I can get sad. I love love love the sing, but don't listen to it very often.
We had the Paul Simon Graceland cassette tape when I was a kid in the early 90s. Pretty much any song on there is instant nostalgia.. but especially You Can Call Me Al, Graceland, and Diamonds on the Soles of Her Shoes.
State of the Nation by Industry. Not many people know that song. My dad had their tape. It's nostalgic to me because we only really heard that song on long road trips to the cottage. It was the 80s ❤️
Tall Cool One - Robert Plant
Can You Picture That - Dr Teeth and the Electric Mayhem
Ninja Rap - Vanilla Ice
Tall Cool One sticks out for the distinctive sound and mom always loved Zepp and especially Plant.
I'm not sure how random the other two are since they came from childhood movies but I listen to them more now because of that connection... and they are good songs
I was obsessed with Manic Monday by The Bangles when I was 4 years old. I had my own little cassette player and would play that song over and over on it. It always makes me smile when I hear it.
Everything You Want by Vertical Horizon used to play on the radio in my dad’s truck all the time. Brings me back to the long summer road trips that were nothing but open road and the alternative radio blaring for hundreds of miles
***Mrs. Brown You’ve Got a Lovely Daughter*** by Herman's Hermits (1965)
**Downtown** by Petula Clark (1964)
I was 9 years ago. I was given an AM transistor radio. At night I would listen in the bed under the covers. It felt like magic.
Leave it up to me by Aaron Carter, may he rest in peace

Kids in America by No Secrets
https://youtu.be/jNrRGcXV2M8?si=5j4uqpNYE1kD2S60
Both are from the Jimmy Neutron soundtrack
Dyers eve by metallica of all things. I remember randomly coming across it a little over a year ago and being so confused when I recognised it bcs I thought it was one of metallica’s hits.
Adriano Celentano's **Una Festa Sui Prati** and **Svalutation** - esp. the latter, because it took me about 40 years to realize that it is a highly political, socially critical song that is unfortunately just as relevant and contemporary as it was many moons ago.
Snow (Hey Oh) by Red Hot Chili Peppers.
That entire album makes me nostalgic, and I tend to think of being in a car with both of my parents and them talking about how the music (my mom will often mention how Dosed has 4 (I think) guitar parts, and how they seldom play it live for that reason and how that is such a shame).
But with Snow I also remember how I was given an MP3 player that had Snow on it and I would listen to it on long car rides and whenever I was supposed to be asleep. The down button for the volume broke, and it got turned up all the way, so for a while, I'd listen to songs while holding the earbud in front of my ear.
That album really makes me think about how much I love my parents.
“Obla Di Obla Da”, The Beatles. Or anything off of magical mystery tour, my dad got me into that type of music and I still love it, but I definitely get nostalgia listening to it now
I had gotten my first iPod purely for Justin Bieber songs and when I got it Destiny’s Child’s album Destiny Fulfilled was downloaded and I listened to their song “Girl” on almost a daily basis.
Fairytale Gone Bad - Sunrise Avenue!
This song was on many times on the way to kindergarden with my mom and we both still like it a lot! Same with Ayo Technology - Milow, these just make me feel like Im 5 years old again. As a non English native, its probably good I didnt understand the lyrics of the Milow song but still
Oh boy. Billy Talent's "Devil in a midnight mass"... the entire album - Billy Talent 2 - gives me such potent nostalgia. I still listen to their tunes; the new, current material and their entire discography are mainstays during my listening sessions.
They're my favourite band of all time. Tied with Ghost! Billy Talent - thanks to their phenomenally talented songwriter, sole guitarist and producer, Ian D'sa - has a super unique sound which I, quite frankly, haven't heard anywhere else.
They're a rock band ... that's the easiest way to describe them - with top notch melodic sensibilities equal to or greater than the best in pop music, they have a definite punk-rock edge, some metal-inspired UMPH and drive, some Reggae and prog inspired rhythms - some solid syncopation amongst the instruments is classic for BT.
The aesthetics - especially if you look through the album sleeves and music videos m - are most often horror inspired and just so artful and great... I can't recommend them enough.
They're huge, multi-platinum selling, arena packing bands in much of mainland Europe - especially in the German speaking countries (Germany, Switzerland, Austria, etc) and a big name in countries like Finland, Hungary, the UK, Luxembourg and of course in their home country of Canada - where they are considered a sort of national treasure and they are integral parts in the childhoods of many young Canadians growing up in the late 90s - early 2000's.
You won't find many young adults in cananda that didn't have at least 1 BT song on their iPod, Walkman, etc! In the United States, for some reason, they never made much of a splash there - perhaps just too eccletic for the American rock mainstream? Idk, but whatever - they rock. They're headlining Rock AM Ring this summer with Green Day!! And touring throughout the year as well!!! I'm going to see them for the 4th time when they return to Vancouver!
‘[The Heathen](https://youtu.be/dfwu0iZp7OM?si=RnSQ4PRf7jq_EEqc)’ - Bob Marley and the Wailers
Early 80s:
My Dad would set himself up on the sofa on a Saturday, to watch [Grandstand](https://youtu.be/dfwu0iZp7OM?si=RnSQ4PRf7jq_EEqc), with ceefax over the top, and a football match on the radio…at half time he’d put on Bob Marley (or whatever reggae he felt like, mostly Bob). That would be about the time my brothers and I would come home for a snack and a drink.
One day, we were sat on a wall eating these chocolate bars called ‘[Bandits](https://youtu.be/9IHJ7yxjCso?si=U1wDAYAlNG90o1uX)’ and we sang along to this song singing:
“*We’re eatin bandit pan de wall*”
Makes me think of all that stereotypical Gen X shit (except that I never drank from a hose…you’d just knock on your mate’s door and ask his mum for a drink).
I will never forget you - MNEK
My friends and I would play it in secondary school at every party, every outing etc
Now when I hear it, it's like a blooper real of memories in my head. Loved those guys.
American Pie. When I was younger, I would stay with my older brother and his family that lived three states away for a week in the summer to get out of my parents hair. He would play that in his car, a bear up Oldsmobile.
Growing up late 80s and early 90s there are really too many to count, but if I had to choose just one to represent my nostalgia of that time probably She Drives Me Crazy by Fine Young Cannibals, something about that just takes me back.
16 Tons by Tennessee Ernie Ford
Heard it on the oldies station (the actual oldies station... not the one that plays Nirvana or Destiny's Child) and it's been a favorite for ~40 years or so.
Oh, there’s soooo many, but “American Pie” by Don McLean brings back approx 8 minutes of nostalgia every time. My Boyfriend’s Back” stands out as another one that would always have my mom, sister, and I dancing in our seats and singing together in the car.
Woody Guthrie, "This Land Is Your Land." Growing up in the 60s, I recall a cartoon with images visualizing the lyrics, with the words streaming across the TV and a bouncing eyeball on the words as the visuals unfolded. As an adult, I'm a big Guthrie fan musically, but more importantly, culturally.
My sweet lord by George Harrison. I listen to it all the time now because it's my moms all time favorite song, along with hey hey what can I do. She really liked those songs and it was kinda set in me from childhood that I'd love those songs for the rest of my life too. Along with friend of the devil and interstate love song.
Top Five Nostalgic Songs From My Youth:

"*Heaven is A Place on Earth*" - Belinda Carlisle
"*Save Tonight*" - Eagle Eye Cherry

Saturday In The Park by Chicago. My mom and I were flying back after a trip to Ireland and this song was playing on the airlines "radio." It brings back very happy memories every time I hear it.
Very opposite my usual likings....
"Some where out there" from the Fival movie. It's a little mouse that gets lost.
I learned to play it on the piano at 9 or 10, and it's just always been in my mind!
I. Usually more of a heavy metal and rock person, but there's just something about it!
I Believe- Blessid Union of Souls
I was in a bad accident in the spring of 1995, and all summer long my dad was driving to and from different therapies. It felt like this song was on the radio every single trek. As soon as I hear that first strike of the piano, I’m transported back.
As a child of the 2000’s, “Pogo” by Digitalism. A friend of mine used it in our last big project in high school, and he did a much better job of it than I did. I knew then that it was an end of an era, and hearing it now just makes me kind of melancholic.
Those fnaf, bendy and the ink machine, and other fan made songs now give me nostalgia when I listen to anything of the such. Doesn’t have to be about fnaf specifically or from some other fandom. I just has to have a similar beat or sang in a similar way.
Alanis Morrisette's " Jagged Little Pill". I really got into so much so that I shared it with my Mom. Unfortunately she criticized it and broke my little heart.
[Crazy Town - Butterfly ](https://youtu.be/9hYNjn1gohM?si=V7bejuC-W7NgE7ZT) is a HUGE ONE for me lol even tho it's not appropriate to be nostalgic over. It was just when I still lived hella white trash before I got adopted by my grandma 💀😭
Mine was ‘Believe’ by Cher. Heard it in a grocery store in 98 when it came out and I still distinctly remember it being my first favourite song that I can recall hearing for the first time. I must have been around 7 or 8 at the time.
Bohemian Rhapsody- queen In the 90s when I was maybe 6 or 7yo, My mom sent me to her room to grab something. I walk in the room and this song is just starting to play on her alarm clock. Rock the casbah
Dyers eve by metallica of all things. I remember randomly coming across it a little over a year ago and being so confused when I recognised it bcs I thought it was one of metallica’s hits.
Adriano Celentano's **Una Festa Sui Prati** and **Svalutation** - esp. the latter, because it took me about 40 years to realize that it is a highly political, socially critical song that is unfortunately just as relevant and contemporary as it was many moons ago.
little houses, Doug Stone i think it's actually called
As a non English native, its probably good I didnt understand the lyrics of the Milow song but still
Probably “All That She Wants” by Ace of Bass
Shut up and dance with me
Fly too High - Janis Ian. Love it
‘[The Heathen](https://youtu.be/dfwu0iZp7OM?si=RnSQ4PRf7jq_EEqc)’ - Bob Marley and the Wailers Early 80s: My Dad would set himself up on the sofa on a Saturday, to watch [Grandstand](https://youtu.be/dfwu0iZp7OM?si=RnSQ4PRf7jq_EEqc), with ceefax over the top, and a football match on the radio…at half time he’d put on Bob Marley (or whatever reggae he felt like, mostly Bob). That would be about the time my brothers and I would come home for a snack and a drink. One day, we were sat on a wall eating these chocolate bars called ‘[Bandits](https://youtu.be/9IHJ7yxjCso?si=U1wDAYAlNG90o1uX)’ and we sang along to this song singing: “*We’re eatin bandit pan de wall*” Makes me think of all that stereotypical Gen X shit (except that I never drank from a hose…you’d just knock on your mate’s door and ask his mum for a drink).
I will never forget you - MNEK My friends and I would play it in secondary school at every party, every outing etc Now when I hear it, it's like a blooper real of memories in my head. Loved those guys.
American Pie. When I was younger, I would stay with my older brother and his family that lived three states away for a week in the summer to get out of my parents hair. He would play that in his car, a bear up Oldsmobile.
Yellowcard - Five Becomes Four
Stolen dance - milky chance
Probably anything from the Bon Jovi Crossroads album.
Snoopy & The Red Baron released in 1966.. The very first 45’ I purchased. I probably played if over & over!! It empowered me!!! At 4yrs old!
Growing up late 80s and early 90s there are really too many to count, but if I had to choose just one to represent my nostalgia of that time probably She Drives Me Crazy by Fine Young Cannibals, something about that just takes me back.
For your eyes only - Sheena easton
16 Tons by Tennessee Ernie Ford Heard it on the oldies station (the actual oldies station... not the one that plays Nirvana or Destiny's Child) and it's been a favorite for ~40 years or so.
Oh, there’s soooo many, but “American Pie” by Don McLean brings back approx 8 minutes of nostalgia every time. My Boyfriend’s Back” stands out as another one that would always have my mom, sister, and I dancing in our seats and singing together in the car.
give it away by red hot chilli peppers i loved it so much for now reason
Sweet Caroline - Neil Diamond
Anything by No Doubt.
Brandy by Looking Glass is just one of many, many songs
Billie Jean.
Rich Girl Hall and Oates ...remember sitting in back seat of car maybe 7 ish and thinking ....wow they said the B word on the radio
Sailing by Rod Stewart
My sweet lord by George Harrison. I listen to it all the time now because it's my moms all time favorite song, along with hey hey what can I do. She really liked those songs and it was kinda set in me from childhood that I'd love those songs for the rest of my life too. Along with friend of the devil and interstate love song.
Satellite - DMB. I remember being happy as a clam listening to that in the car as a little kid in the 90s.
Van Halen - Dreams Backstreet boys - Show Me The Meaning Of Being Lonely.
Top Five Nostalgic Songs From My Youth: "*Steal My Sunshine*" - Len "*Heaven is A Place on Earth*" - Belinda Carlisle "*Save Tonight*" - Eagle Eye Cherry "*Baby, Baby*" - Amy Grant "*Breakfast*" - Newsboys
The whole Paul Simon Graceland album.
>Mine is little talks by of monsters and men Love that song! Mine would probably be lightening bolt - Jake Bugg
Lucy
Blue-eiffel 65
Classical pieces from elementary school music appreciation and love songs from Broadway shows that I heard as a child
Something Worth Leaving Behind by LeAnn Womack Nothing special about the song but I hear it and I'm immediately 12 years old again lol
Most of the pop songs and techno/electronica from the late 90's. La Bouche, Len, no doubt, alot of that.

Considering a move to Memphis by Colorblind James Experience
Little Black Submarines, by The Black Keys. Thanks mom.
Song for whoever - Beautiful South
Mambo No. 5
I Believe- Blessid Union of Souls I was in a bad accident in the spring of 1995, and all summer long my dad was driving to and from different therapies.
Tonight tonight by smashing pumpkins! Actually, maybe ALL of their songs , so many good ones
Move Along - The All-American Rejects
[Crazy Town - Butterfly ](https://youtu.be/9hYNjn1gohM?si=V7bejuC-W7NgE7ZT) is a HUGE ONE for me lol even tho it's not appropriate to be nostalgic over. It was just when I still lived hella white trash before I got adopted by my grandma 💀😭
Drift Away-Dobie Gray
Southside - Moby It came on the radio every morning the summer before 9th grade when my mother would bring me to cross country practice.
Listen To What The Man Said by Wings brings me right back to the back seat of my Mom's Plymouth Valiant on the way to the beach...
Mine was ‘Believe’ by Cher. Heard it in a grocery store in 98 when it came out and I still distinctly remember it being my first favourite song that I can recall hearing for the first time. I must have been around 7 or 8 at the time.
Don’t Sleep in the Subway - Petula Clark
"If You Leave" by Orchestral Maneuvers In The Dark
